I just got the Viper4android and liking it a lot except for the occasional resets. What happens when I say resets...
I will be listening to music via Spotify or Poweramp and once about 10 mins the volume will go to 0% then slowly fade in to the normal volume in about one second.
I changed the music effects in settings to Viper4android instead of MusicFX and also tried freezing MusicFX but didnt solve the issue.
I dont have any auto task killers either... Anyone face this issue?

I had the issue initially but had to reset my device (for other reasons) and re-setup my phone exactly as I had it and I don't have this issue anymore. SoOoOo, I don't know what exactly fixed it, I'm thinking it was just coincidence it is fine after a reset. I'll try and replicate the problem and find a fix. For now, that's all the help I have.

Thanks, btw I tried this on stock and xnote on slot 1 with safestrap. I wiped everything before installing safestrap. Both has the same volume reset. Also, one way im able to replicate this reset is to play around with the Viper4android settings. When I turn on a feature, the volume resets into the new setting, just like when im listening to music. I imagine something is making Viper4android reapply the sound settings or its crashing and turning back on instantly.

Hey guys,
4 days ago something strange happened: my kindle fire speakers stopped working suddenly, but i've fixed the problem by reinstalling the vlc media player app (dunno why but it really fixed it).
Now this problem occurs again. So far i've: reinstalled vlc, rebooted my kindle, tried several settings, but nothing worked. Headphones are working fine, it's just the speakers.
What i find strange about this is that the speakers are actually working for 1 second after unplugging the headphones, then stop working even though the speaker sound is also on and on max. That should mean that hardware is okay but software isn’t or that the problem is caused by the settings from the application. It shouldn't be based on app settings, because i tried it with the amazonmp3- as well as the vlc-app.
I can't imagine that i've damaged some important system data, because i did nothing with my kindle besides rooting it, installing the play store and adding some launchers.
Does anyone have an idea what could possibly cause the problem and how to fix it?

Same thing happened to me a while back when I loaded google movies. I fixed it temporarily by restoring my backup of several apps including amazon video and sound apps. However, I killed it again loading talkatone, and I could never fix it by restoring amazon apps. Finally did a factory reset and that fixed it permanently (or until the next non-amazon app kills it).
Never experienced any problems with this. The one problem I have heard about is the Speakers crackling, and then losing sound. Did you have any problems like this?
Problem solved, it's really simple. Some non-amazon apps put the media volume off, which isn't regulated through the normal settings. I downloaded "Quickmute" from the amazon app store and regulated the media volume that way, so that my speakers started working again.
So don't be afraid of installing non-amazon media apps, just make sure to fix sound problems with quickmute or compareable apps.

Thanks for the tip about the Quickmute app. I installed it and now my speakers are working again.

Is there a fix for this?i didnt want to download another music app.
Ps:the music app is cm 10.1 stock-apollo

Install a different music app and see if the problem goes away. That way you'll know if it is the ROM/your music or the app.
Troubleshoot it yourself by elimination.
Oh yes ... this has NOTHING to do with DEVELOPMENT - belongs on the Q&A forum so please report it to a moderator to be moved as I'm mobile and can't.

My phone has developed a similar problem over the last couple of days. Flashed Cm 10.1.2 on Friday (from stock) and everything worked great. Music played with no problem. Yesterday started to have a problem where music playback started to stutter and eventually stop, but only when the screen is off. Tried Poweramp and Google Music, same problem.
I think there is some issue with the system when the screen is off , as notification sounds are also disrupted, and the lock screen is very laggy when trying to wake the phone up. When the screen is on there is no problem with general operation, music playback is fine, as is video, streaming, etc. This problem has resulted in the phone freezing entirely a couple of times and I've had to remove the battery to reset.
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone found a solution?
I updated to 10.1.3 to see if this would make any difference, but no change. I am going to reflash to see if that cures it and will post back if it does.

I had the same issue, until i stumbled over this easy solution. If you are using poweramp or any other music player where you can change the audio buffer, just increase the buffer and the problem should be fixed....
No matter which ROM I try with a clean install playing any audio whether it be from YouTube or Music the volume goes down then back up. What is causing this? This stays after reboots. Also the only way to get the volume back to normal is to close the app and start over. Then it only take about 10secs for it to go back down and fluctuate.

This also happens to me from time to time.
Also, while playing music through Poweramp and listening with BT, if you change the volume using the rockets on the phone (long press), the volume fades in and out.

RMA didn't work for me. I have a feeling all devices display this behaviour, though the louder the volume and the lower the battery, the more it will present.

I assume that you are RMAed your Nexus 6 and they gave you another one, and that one has the same problem? My last phone was really bad with the fluctuation and the volume going up and down. When I got this phone I haven't noticed it one bit but I only play music with it or listen to YouTube etc . So I downloaded the GT racing 2 and waited till I had about 26% battery. And then started the game turned it up full blast and it stayed there. So then I plugged it in to see if there was a difference and there wasn't. I left it plugged in for a while then I unplugged it to see if the volume would drop and it didn't. So I would suggest if you did get a new phone send RMA and that you try it again. My new phone came running stock LVY47H . I don't know if that makes a difference.
My old phone was rooted and I ran many different roms kernels and Viper 4 exc trying to get rid of the problem. This one in stock because I'm waiting for project Fi.
I have a Moto G6, Android 8.1, rooted, and I'm having an annoying issue I haven't been able to Google the solution to. When my screen goes to sleep the audio stops almost right away. This is true for both streaming music and downloaded content (podcasts, audiobooks), so I think it's some battery saving setting I can't find rather than network related. Let me know if any of you have solved this issue or have suggestions. Thanks!

Are you using Magisk? If so, try disabling it and listen to audio while the screen is off. If it doesn't stop, it's Magisk.
I had a similar issue on a Pie GSI where the audio would skip while the screen is off. I haven't used Magisk since.
Yeah, I'm using Magisk. Tried uninstalling it but the issue is still happening. After screen goes black audio is fine for about 30s then skips and stops. Not sure what else it could be...

Check in the specific apps setting under settings, apps, whichever app, and check to see if it says battery optimization. If it's optimized, try switching to not optimized[
Or if you have ambient display disabled, switch it on, worked for me

I've got battery optimization turned off for the 3 apps I'm testing this with, but still having the same problem. I'm not finding "ambient display" in my settings (Android 8.1), but I went into "LiveDisplay" and I have a setting called "Display mode" that was set to "automatic." I switched this to "Off" and the problem went away! Thanks for your help.

I spoke too soon and the problem persists. Any other ideas what might be causing this? It stutters a bit and then goes silent right after the screen goes black. Real deal breaker for listening to podcasts and audiobooks on my long commute, so I'd appreciate any solution you all can think of. Thanks!

It sounds like what was happening to me with YouTube. Every time my screen would go to sleep, it would start stuttering. I guess it was doze causing it and whitelisting it made it stop. I wonder if switching live display to on would be any different? What magisk modules are you using? I know GMS doze and sysconfig patcher will cause that, because YouTube is a Google app

I seem to have it resolved right now. I've got live display OFF and I exempted my 3 audio apps from battery optimization. I've completely uninstalled Magisk though, so I'm not sure if I'll cause the problem again when I re-root. Maybe I should go back to using SuperSU rather than Magisk (?)

It works in a few rare instances on Oreo. Definitely not pie. SuperSU has been dead and not updated for a long time now.

This audio problem is back. I didn't change any settings. Live Display is off, audio apps are not optimized in terms of battery. All I did was reboot my phone. Was working fine. I can't figure out what I'm missing but it's a really annoying problem. Any ideas?
This might be the app itself but I didn't have any issue on my S20. Since I updated the phone it randomly cuts out. Any ideas? Never on WiFi though...

Is it when the screen is off? Check it's not been put to sleep in battery settings
it seems that latest ROM updates (I think I have this on all AUB* ones) is weirdly strict on background activities and cuts every one of them. my whole device acts strangely - apps not showing notification or showing them late (hours later than they were supposed to show), my apps are not updating: I have to repeatedly FC play store, then clear its cache so that currently installing app changes state from downloading to installing, than do it again to change state fomr installing to installed etc. worked fine on AUA* ones. it is really annoying. btw I tried to clear cache and dalvik/art cache from recovery, but that did not help. I have not tried factory seset yet...
It seems that it was data corruption during regular OTA. Factory reset seems to fix problems for me.
I'll try a reset.. thankyou
Let's be honest, the Spotify app has issues too begin with. On my S21 and Pixel 4 it can be playing songs to my earbuds then suddenly stop running in the background on its own! Unlock the phone and itis still open in the foreground.
Perhaps it's time for a new music app if this is a known Spotify issue... But if it's not a Spotify issue, then check in your battery settings (as others have mentioned) to see if your phone automatically started putting it into "Sleep Mode".
