[Q] Kindle speakers not working - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
4 days ago something strange happened: my kindle fire speakers stopped working suddenly, but i've fixed the problem by reinstalling the vlc media player app (dunno why but it really fixed it).
Now this problem occurs again. So far i've: reinstalled vlc, rebooted my kindle, tried several settings, but nothing worked. Headphones are working fine, it's just the speakers.
What i find strange about this is that the speakers are actually working for 1 second after unplugging the headphones, then stop working even though the speaker sound is also on and on max. That should mean that hardware is okay but software isn’t or that the problem is caused by the settings from the application. It shouldn't be based on app settings, because i tried it with the amazonmp3- as well as the vlc-app.
I can't imagine that i've damaged some important system data, because i did nothing with my kindle besides rooting it, installing the play store and adding some launchers.
Does anyone have an idea what could possibly cause the problem and how to fix it?

Same thing happened to me a while back when I loaded google movies. I fixed it temporarily by restoring my backup of several apps including amazon video and sound apps. However, I killed it again loading talkatone, and I could never fix it by restoring amazon apps. Finally did a factory reset and that fixed it permanently (or until the next non-amazon app kills it).

Never experienced any problems with this. The one problem I have heard about is the Speakers crackling, and then losing sound. Did you have any problems like this?

Problem solved, it's really simple. Some non-amazon apps put the media volume off, which isn't regulated through the normal settings. I downloaded "Quickmute" from the amazon app store and regulated the media volume that way, so that my speakers started working again.
So don't be afraid of installing non-amazon media apps, just make sure to fix sound problems with quickmute or compareable apps.

Thanks for the tip about the Quickmute app. I installed it and now my speakers are working again.

Thanks for suggesting 'Quick Mute Volume Control' app. It worked well for me.

Galaxy Tab freezes with bluetooth accessories [SOLUTION]

Just wanted to throw this out here in case anybody else runs into this problem. I just purchased a bt keyboard, worked fine for a few days, then suddenly my tab started to freeze, even after rebooting. System panel would show full cpu usage, and it took minutes to simply scroll, but the time and charging indicator worked in real time. After some searching I found some troubles the tab had with bluetooth devices. To the point, I found that after opening pandora for the first time since I had the keyboard that the bt media setting was enabled, turned that off, rebooted, and its been at least 5 hours and haven't had a problem since, usually only took a few minutes to freeze after powering up. As a side note, I'm sure other apps/settings may cause the same problem.

I use(d) bluetooth headset and my freezing problem was with any and all music players. I have Pandora installed, but is it only the setting in pandora that's the problem or all music players?
It could be any apps really. For me it was pandora, I'm using poweramp for my music and I know that has bt disabled. I would just check any media apps for bt settings.
From the Captivate
Thanks
I noticed that the 'Bluetooth' was the cause of my GT-P1000 freezing issues.
But I didn't know that some apss could also cause this!
I will try to uninstall Pandora and see if the BT issues has been resolved.
It's annoying coz I often turn the BT ON coz I used it as my primary phone number
So since you changed the BT setting in Pandora, have you had any freezing issue at all? My device started freezing like mad and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was. I first deleted unnecessary apps, no effect. Then I formatted the memory, followed by a factory reset when the format didn't work. The problem persisted! Two constants in the equation are the presence of Pandora (which I did not realize uad a BT setting) and my Apple Bluetooth keyboard. I finally put two and two together that it had to do with my keyboard, so now I'm a bit wary of even pairing it again lest I smash my Tab against the desk in a fit of freeze induced anger.
So I am interested to know if yoir correction of the Pandora setting seems to be a permanemt resolution.
Notice the typos above? That's because I'm not using my Bluetooth keyboard. Haha

Helps alot, thanks.
Yep. Pandora. As soon as got my new Jawbone ICON Hero bt earpiece I decided to try it with my media players. with XiaaLive it was fine. Audio was nice and clear. Starting and stopping the app was smooth. However, when I tried Pandora, audio was fine and starting the app was fine. But every time I tried quieting the app my US T-Mo Galaxy Tab would get super slow. Everything was going in slow motion. Folders would take 20 to 30 seconds to open. Even pressing the Power button took about 15 seconds to show the "Shut Down" screen.
After a reboot, everything was fine again. And I left it alone until the next day when I tried it again. And sure enough. Upon quitting the Pandora app everything got really really slow again.
So, using Pandora and a BT device seems to be the issue.

Install a different music app and see if the problem goes away. That way you'll know if it is the ROM/your music or the app.
Troubleshoot it yourself by elimination.
Oh yes ... this has NOTHING to do with DEVELOPMENT - belongs on the Q&A forum so please report it to a moderator to be moved as I'm mobile and can't.

My phone has developed a similar problem over the last couple of days. Flashed Cm 10.1.2 on Friday (from stock) and everything worked great. Music played with no problem. Yesterday started to have a problem where music playback started to stutter and eventually stop, but only when the screen is off. Tried Poweramp and Google Music, same problem.
I think there is some issue with the system when the screen is off , as notification sounds are also disrupted, and the lock screen is very laggy when trying to wake the phone up. When the screen is on there is no problem with general operation, music playback is fine, as is video, streaming, etc. This problem has resulted in the phone freezing entirely a couple of times and I've had to remove the battery to reset.
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone found a solution?
I updated to 10.1.3 to see if this would make any difference, but no change. I am going to reflash to see if that cures it and will post back if it does.

I had the same issue, until i stumbled over this easy solution. If you are using poweramp or any other music player where you can change the audio buffer, just increase the buffer and the problem should be fixed....

Viper4android volume resets?

I just got the Viper4android and liking it a lot except for the occasional resets. What happens when I say resets...
I will be listening to music via Spotify or Poweramp and once about 10 mins the volume will go to 0% then slowly fade in to the normal volume in about one second.
I changed the music effects in settings to Viper4android instead of MusicFX and also tried freezing MusicFX but didnt solve the issue.
I dont have any auto task killers either... Anyone face this issue?

I had the issue initially but had to reset my device (for other reasons) and re-setup my phone exactly as I had it and I don't have this issue anymore. SoOoOo, I don't know what exactly fixed it, I'm thinking it was just coincidence it is fine after a reset. I'll try and replicate the problem and find a fix. For now, that's all the help I have.

Thanks, btw I tried this on stock and xnote on slot 1 with safestrap. I wiped everything before installing safestrap. Both has the same volume reset. Also, one way im able to replicate this reset is to play around with the Viper4android settings. When I turn on a feature, the volume resets into the new setting, just like when im listening to music. I imagine something is making Viper4android reapply the sound settings or its crashing and turning back on instantly.

[Q] No Audio on stock 1st Gen Moto X

A few days ago, I started having an issue with my Moto X's audio. I noticed after waking up my alarm hadn't gone off. After that, I realized that my phone wouldn't play any audio at all, through the speaker or headphones. However, I'm not entirely sure whether this is a software or hardware problem. When I attempt to play any video or audio I tend to get a general error from the app I'm using. For example, trying to play a song through Play Music results in a "Couldn't play the stream you requested." error. Attempting to play a Youtube video through the app gives me "There was a problem while playing." error. Trying to play a video through Chrome will actually make Chrome close. So, my audio problem doesn't seem to just be a speaker problem, because if it were I would expect videos to play without a problem, there would simply be no sound, unless I'm misunderstanding how that would work. I'm also not sure whether or not it's hardware related, because, as I said, the issue occurs with both the speaker and when I plug in earbuds or headphones.
I've already attempted some general solutions I had hoped would fix my problem. I've checked the sound setting and ensured the three volume sliders are set correctly. The next thing I tried was the general turn it off, and on again approach. I've also cleared the cache (multiple times), and even resorted to a factory reset, none of which has helped. I also uninstalled any recently installed apps, just in case. The fact that a factory reset did not help makes me assume it has to be a hardware problem. However, I'm not certain, because of the aforementioned errors I get from apps, as opposed to the behavior I would expect if there was a problem with the speaker. Again, please correct me if this is, in fact, what a speaker problem would be like.
Note: I'm running stock 4.4.4 Android and the phone was indeed bought used. I had a problem with my old phone and was not eligible for an upgrade yet, so I bought this phone. I got the phone about a week ago and, until yesterday, it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, I'm still not able to get an upgrade so that's not an option.
I'd really appreciate any guidance with this problem. Unfortunately, after the factory reset, I kind of ran out of things to try to hopefully fix it. Also, I apologize if this post has any formatting issues. This is the first time I've posted. If there's anything I could have done to make my question more clear, please alert me to it.
Tl;dr No audio from stock Moto X running current update. Apps give error or close when attempting to play video or audio. Already tried clearing cache partition and factory reset with no results.

Music cast plays intermittently

Hello good people,
I hope someone finds time to read this and help me to find a solution.
I was using "throw" function on the default Music player app to play on my Denon AVR since my Z3c was on KitKat, later it upgraded to Lollipop (I think then it became "cast" instead of "throw") and later it upgraded to Marshmallow - all was good, one touch and I had music playing through my audio system. I recently replaced my phone with another Z3c and was happy until tried to cast my music - it plays intermittently (2 seconds of sound followed by 2 seconds of silence and this repeats non stop). I've tried installing 3rd party apps (AirAudio) but the issue remains. Today I had a chance to hold my old Z3c and to my big surprise - it also developed the same intermittent play issue when casting! The only thing which changed on my old Z3c since I owned it was that it was reset to factory default settings.
Any ideas would be very welcome, second day googling and still no music
Thank you!

Hi,
was the version of firmware on your replacement phone the same as your old phone?
The early versions of Marshmallow had a problem with Bluetooth, specifically throw and stuttering audio.
Have you tried to update your phone with PC Companion.
How far are you willing to go to fix your problem?
I am using the latest version of MM from a developer called Wajik that has no Bletooth issues. But obviously you'd need to root your phone and add recovery to get there. I know it sonds complicated, but there are several great guides and lots of friendly folk here to help you if you get stuck.
Edit: There is a music player called Poweramp, that has the ability to change the priority of the player, it also has a buffer that you can change yourself. With both of these features tuened up you might be able to defeat the stuttering without any major regime change. It also comes as a trial as well.
