Is anyone having trouble with Wifi dropping out? I had no problems with my TF700T, but my new TF701T seems to drop Wifi quite a bit.
It seems that when the signal is a bit weaker, the connection drops pretty frequently. I've done some very quick testing with Wifi Analyzer and it seems that when the signal gets down to about -60dBm, the connection starts dropping and re-connecting. That signal is not the strongest, but I wouldn't expect the connection to fully disconnect. Other devices, including the TF700T have no problems in the same areas with the same signal strength.
I'm going to try some other channels, but is anyone else having this issues?
Yes, I do have some wifi issues as well. What wifi band do you use, and what's your rom version?
My wifi is 2.4GHz, channel 6, signal at -65 dBm (when it does detect the network). My laptop has no problem connecting to it (perceiving it at -60 dBm).
Running 12.26.1.18 WW.
After the .18 update my connection dropped completely after I used Wifi analyzer. Running on channel 48 5ghz. (measures -60 dbm/ 3 bars of 4)
Wifi is back connected at 72 mbps - solid connection after i uninstalled wifi analyzer and rebooted... wtf?
Inssider works though
I'm on the 10.26.1.18 US build. I'm on 2.4Ghz (CH 6 and now changed to CH 1). I do have Wifi Analyzer installed, but I installed it after seeing the problem in order to measure my signal, so I'm not sure that has anything to do with it for me. It seems a little more stable now that I switched channels, but I still see it drop. Sometimes it drops while I'm actively using it, sometimes when I turn it on the Wifi isn't connected and eventually comes back. All seems to be related to the slightly weaker signal for me, which shouldn't be a problem since it is still an ok signal for (2-3 bars, -60dBm, no other devices with trouble).
Something doesn't seem right...hopefully it is software.
Did you guys notice this prior to the .18 update? I went almost directly to it since I have only had the device for a week...
Mine just dropped again. So probably its not related to wifi analyzer.
Did not have any problems before the .18 update so its most likely caused by that update.
I never thought the wifi reception was great on my device, but it does indeed seem much worse after the .18 upgrade. I will try to downgrade and report back.
Ok, I downgraded to 10.26.1.7 WW, and things are working smoothly again. Wifi is still not very speedy, but at least it seems stable.
Steps to downgrade:
WARNING: Downgrading formats /data and /cache. You will lose all your data.
Download and extract the 10.26.1.7 WW update from asus
Rename UL-K00C-WW-10.26.1.7-user.zip to T4_SDUPDATE.zip
Put T4_SDUPDATE.zip at the root of a FAT32-formatted MicroSD-card
Reboot to recovery
It's the update. Someone bring it to ASUS attention. Because I'm getting the same thing

Could you tell us what wifi parameters you are using (band, channel)? What version of the tf701t do you have (US, WW,…)?

I have used it on multiple WiFi connections. Work, Home, and Public. Never had an issue with it dropping.
Build#: JSS15J.US_epad-10.26.1.7-20131108
WiFi Version: 7.2.42
My home router is a Linksys EA4500. Work router is a SmartRG 300. Dunno what they use in the coffee shops I've visited.

Thanks for the details. It seems 10.26.1.7 does indeed have no wifi issues.
Anyone with 10.26.7.18 having no problem with wifi? And if so, do you have a WW or US version?
I suspect this to be WW-specific. What do you guys experiencing drops have?
That's really strange. When I started the device for the first time, it prompted me for the OTA update, to Android 4.3. That's what I installed, and that's what I've been running this entire time now. However I see that on the Asus site there is a newer version available. Even doing a manual check for the OTA update on the device, it doesn't see this new version that is on Asus' site.
Should I try to install the 10.26.7.18 update? I can't see a changelog on Asus' site, and idea what this update is supposed to fix?
I also noticed there is a new version of firmware (10.26.1.18) that was released today for WW SKU devices.

According to some (see the upgrade's thread), .18 fixes the auto-backlight flickering issue, but I didn't see any imporvement on that side. Considering the wifi problems, I would not recommend the update, except if you are brave enough to try it out and are not afraid to downgrade (losing your data) if things turn out not so well.

I saw it too. It seems to be the "normal" upgrade, compared to the T4_SDUPDATE.zip which can be used to downgrade. I don't know if there is a difference between both.
I am on the .18 US version with the wifi drop issue so I don't think it is WW specific.

I haven't found a conclusive answer. I am complete N1 newbie and haven't followed these issues until today.
Yep these issues were addressed long ago. I get great speeds on HSPA where available and performance feels pretty consistent when using it. I'm also constantly on wi-fi when at home and again I've had no drop outs unless I've flashed a bad kernel.

What version of OS has this been addressed in?
I remember those early days of bad 3G signal. It was truly horrible and I was really disappointed for the first few weeks of having the N1. I was a very early adopter.
But then Google came through big time and it was totaly fixed in 2.2 I think it was, rather than 2.1.x but I might be wrong about exactly with what update it was.
But it's definitely been fixed.
My WiFi speeds with this phone are terrible. Anyone else have this issue?
I put it next to my GNex and I get 24-30mbps with the Gnex but 2-5 on the HTC One..
I have a T Mobile version. Happenes on all Roms even stock.
I got 11mbit top speed. I got 30mbits wifi.

Ah... I misinterpreted his post since it didn't really make sense.
Using iperf I measure 11mbps on 2.4ghz between 2 machines. I cant really test 5ghz until I find another machine to test with.

Maybe just an issue with t-mo versions, or even more likely is your router. I'm 15ft away from my router and still pull down an average of 50mbps with iperf.

Using an asus N66U. Would love to test 802.11AC but don't have a capable router yet.
Also something that I noticed when testing this, my One really doesn't want to be told to connect to 5ghz wifi only. It refuses to (re)acquire an ip address after being told to connect to 5ghz, so even if I had an AC router, I'm not entirely sure how I'd force it to use 5ghz in the first place. So the iperf test above is using standard settings on the One, with "use best wifi perfomance" enabled under power settings.

I don't think it's a distance issue, I was near my router when I tested the speed.

Better WiFi speeds than my N4 and better signal strength too.
I haven't tested a local LAN connection, but for internet speeds the wifi is fine. This is using an Asus RT-N53 router, Wireless N, 2.4 GHz band on top, 5 GHz band on the bottom:
Speeds are great, only problem is the unreliability of the 5 GHz band on the router itself, but the phone is fine.
To compare my desktop on a LAN connection gets 33 mb down and same upload speeds as the wifi.
Speedtest.net gives me 61M down and 7.73M up, which is pretty much the same as my desktop computer gets.
Note that this is using CM10.1 on a 5Ghz network (Apple Time Capsule). When using stock firmware I'm unable to connect the the 5Ghz network at all, it just doesn't see it.
I have an Asus RT-AC66, and the WiFi speeds on my One are great - link speed is 433 Mbps. Speedtest shows download speeds of 74 Mbps on my 80 meg broadband connection.
For those who have the device, how does your wifi signal strength compare. Sitting at my desk, I get no bars now where on my OneX I got 2 or 3.

Same issue here on a phone from O2 with the latest software installed.
Compared to an iphone 5 struggles to hang onto signal. Tried both bands as well, same issue.
I can see my work wifi in a location I frequent with previous phones.
I can connect and use it even though it gives me just a dot for the signal. other phones struggle in this same location.
Perhaps try turning off Wifi power saving in the settings

guys from what I've seen don't go by the little signal strength indicator on the notification bar as it doesn't really reflect what's actually happening, I had a XZU for a few weeks and a Z before that, I can pick up wifi connections on both the XZU and Z1 were the Z was out of range, I was sitting in a bar last night connected to a wifi AP that was about 100m away and there are structures and people in-between, the Z1 is as good as the ZU when connecting to wifi and both are better than the Z

Wifi on my Z1 C6903 seems really poor.
Connected to 5Ghz on a dual band wifi router situated in the tv room. I don't get any connectivity from my room which is around 10m away.
I used to get decent connectivity on my iphone 5 - speedtest of around 14mbps. I can't even connect to speedtest on my Z1.
On a sidenote - what is with the headphone button not working. Had to update to .534 after much googling. Also, the new firmware doesn't help the wifi issues. Who knows how long we'll have to wait for a fix ...which may or may not improve it.
Also, did try to turn off the wifi power saving "feature" as well. Didn't do much.
Anyways that's my feedback.
same here! very bad connection with the xperia z1.
Yep poor wifi performance, I hope we get a software fix soon

In OP, I said compared to my previous phone. Also, have trouble with mobile data being very slow. With that being said, I have moved provider to EE but they are supposed to have decent coverage.
Not sure now whether to return and get a new one or get the Notes 3 instead.

Basically it is rubbish so far. The signal and speed is not as good as other devices.
Interested in hearing more from people who say it is fine.
Fine compared to what? Can you give examples?
---------- Post added at 04:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:41 PM ----------
As an example between Z1 and a 5S.
Same router, same distance.
Speedtest.net app on each phone.
Z1
Ping: 248ms
Down: 0.42
Up: 1.25
5S
Ping: 45ms
Down: 17.49
Up: 2.5
(I have around 20mbit fibre with around 3-4mbit up)
How frustrating, I was looking at upgrading to this phone, and reading most of the posts floating around I am having huge deja vu experiences with the newly launched Xperia Z and the pains associated with being some of the first. I feel for you all.

Hey, guys. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
I have an last generation Airport Extreme. Everything has been fine with all of my devices until recently. The only thing that changed is that I got an update for the Airport Extreme. Now, my Note 3 and ONLY my Note 3 is super slow on Wifi. I don't even get 1 mbps download. I tested several other Android and iOS devices and they have no issue. I checked all of the wifi settings on the Note and I can't see anything else that would cause this. I power-cycled my router and there has been no change. Everything else in the house is getting good speeds.
My Note 3 used to work perfectly fine on my AE, so this is definitely new. Anyone experience something similar or have an idea of what it might be?

Yet another epic fail on Nokia 8: WIFI keeps failing, disconnecting, or simply sliently not working most of the time. Speedtest shows 0.00 MBps download speed when this occurs, while upload is just fine. Happens at home as well at work. Needless to say that I have plenty of other devices working absolutely fine on the same networks. After flipping airplane mode, returns to normal.
This phone turns out to be a big joke. Nokia should better get their act together quickly.
