Anyone have any news on a kitkat update for moto x? Or is there another version we can flash that works?
no.
lol
to be honest though, i'm loving my 4.2.2...
At this point they may as well hold off and wait for 4.4.2 - maybe that was always the plan, who knows. I am pretty sure 4.2.2 has better battery life and it has no active notification unlock lag.
I flashed mine
I flashed my Rogers Moto X using the AT&T stock 4.4 image and then to KANGKAT 4.4...has been working real well so far.
Was not as easy as a traditional ROM install, but once I had it all done properly, all good.
Moto X with Kit Kat is the perfect phone.
I'd like to root this and flash custom. Haven't done rooting in a while, is moto x easy to root

Yes as long as you have the ability to unlock the bootloader, only Samsung with Odin is easier, beats HTC where you have to downgrade your hboot, s-off and finally root

I have a stock Rogers Moto X and before rooting wanted to know if rooting would prevent me from successfully updating when OTA is released ..its been confirmed from a Moto exec on G+ that an update will be coming for the camera
Also as it stands the stock unrooted phone has incredible reception and signal strength ...I'm wondering if rooting will in anyway degrade this because the procedure involves flashing a prerooted kernel and I wouldn't want that kernel which determines a few things to have been affected in regards to controlling power to antenna etc and hence affect quality of reception ...
Sorry for noobish question but I haven't found an definitive answer anywhere regards this and have always read about various kernels affecting people's signal strength
As it stands the reception is incredible !! This phone is stupendously amazing with battery life and reception and all in a compact package ...that Motorola has proved can be had with an optimized OS

You don't need to flash the kernel with superuser preinstalled, unlock the boot loader first, flash mattlgroff recovery and flash superSu , bam your rooted. No effects what so ever with signal by obtaining root, as for ota you should be fine as long as you haven't played with the system too much and someone will apost the updates anyways

Sounds good...glad there's alternative ways to achieve root

I'm using the ATT now but I would prefer to be using the Pure radio.
Yeah, me too. My wife has the same the pure running L without a hitch.
Her BL is Locked.
How can I pull her modem? If someone tells me, I'll do it.
I'm limited to what ROMS I can flash if I leave it on Kit Kat right? I can only install Kit Kat roms? So if I want Lollipop roms, I have to do the OTA official software update to Lollipop?
Or does it not matter and I can just flash whatever version I want no matter what OS is currently installed?
Thanks!
Taking the OTA will prevent you from downgrading later.
I think I was previously running NON-STOCK Lollipop on KitKat's firmware.
Be sure to flash things like the updated NON-HLOS.bin if you notice issues (in the case of NON-HLOS, wireless connectivity issues).

If your bootloader is unlocked, you can flash a Marshmallow ROM but you have to first flash a lollipop or take an OTA to lollipop.

I never updated the NON-HLOS.bin and I'm running cm13 nightly on the KitKat bootloader.
My question to you is, how would I update that? Mine never received the 5.1 OTA update. Eh just a question. ?

You can download the stock firmware for your device from here, extract the requisite file and flash it as you would anything else. You don't need to do that if you aren't noticing issues, though

The only issue I'm having is not getting LTE on GSM networks ? I posted a question about my issue in another thread.

I have turbo unlocked with twrp working..
I'm willing to downgrade it to kitkat 4.4.4 with twrp.
Need help in downgrading rom except for the flash method in which we don't have to flash gpt.bin.
You sure you don't want to try computerfreek's tweek of the stock rom? Version 1.08 runs as fine as any stock rom. Throw in the recently ripped camera, and I can't imagine why someone would want KitKat.

You would download Kitkat Verizon firmware, flash via ADB but omit gpt.bin from the flash commands. Also if you want to keep TWRP custom recovery, you would also omit flashing recovery.img.

Go down to the bottom of that page and look for VRZ files.
This one -- VRZ_XT1254_SU2-12_12_CFC.xml.zip 1.17 GB February 25, 2015 -- was probably the last Kitkat 4.4.4 Droid Turbo file before Lollipop.

Agreed. I'm still on a custom RR Marshmallow ROM because it's rock solid, gives me CM themes, as well as Xposed modules. I am running @bhb27's advanced custom kernel again, but my wife's phone didn't like it so keeping her on regular ROM kernel. Still haven't seen the need yet to upgrade to Nougat. Plus I see a TON of complaints about phones shutting down at 20% or so, and they all seem to be on Nougat ROMs.

Well actually I already tried all of that rom currently I am using lineage Os. I don't get enough battery on computer freak 1.08 (after changing DPI).
So decided to give it a shot (kitkat) dual booting (magisk)

Recently got one of these phones and I love it, it really stood the test of time and I want to keep it for a while. But, the one I have is running android 4.4 kitkat. I got a custom kitkat rom installed, omni 4.4, and I can't install anything more recent. If I try to flash anything newer than android 5.0 it'll work just fine, but, I'll have no cellular connection. My guess is it's a radio issue. How can I fix this? I have a C6906. It's a Canadian phone, but I'm using it in the US on ATT.

I fixed it by flashing stock lollipop with flashtool.
