Rebooted this morning and it's a warm spring boot animation, not the chilly winter one. Is this everyone or is it random?
Yes, changed back 01/06/2014. Although today's been the coldest yet by me lol.

I don't think they push anything to our phones to change the boot animation. I believe they all come preinstalled and change out automatically according to preset calendar dates.

Obviously I could be wrong, but I thought the winter themed boot animation was packaged in with the touchless control update?
All I know is that Motorola SLPC Service was going nuts all yesterday evening and all last night. My MX struggled to sleep (and it's a great sleeper) even with reboots. Very strange.

Moodles.apk (com.motorola.moodles) is what holds the images and animations I believe. Not sure how/when this runs or updates. But, you could disable in settings.
I also found that the Moto G has this as an app in Google Play (Motorola Boot Services). Not sure why the X doesn't.
I thought the winter themed boot animation was included with the 4.4 release for the Moto X. Those with 4.2.2 did not get the updated animation.
For the Moto G though they did include it in a play store update.

Now we know that we cannot put our names on the back of the phone; nor can we upload the images we want and have it color our MOTO X (though the latter part was never the original concept...but should be . What makes you still want to buy MOTO X?
I just got mine this afternoon. After playing with it only for a couple of hours, I can say that once I get used to the touchless control, I will not be able to live without it. Just now I pick up my Nexus 4 and start talking to her with "Ok google now" and saw no response and getting frustrated
Active Notifications.
That is all.
everything about this phone other than its price and camera quality (which hopefully is resolved with an update much like the htc one)
Touchless Controls hands down.

I went to the store to play with the X and I was really impressed by the twisting the wrist motion to launch the camera. It was super easy and I have no idea why the reviewers found it so hard to launch it. I'd say I had a 100% success rate.
The problem, for me at least, is not how to launch the camera...but after launching the camera the quality of the photo is not good.
Personally I the touchless control is the winner for me, but active notifications comes in a very close second.
All are pretty ones!
Can we see it in Europe soon...
1 active notifications, 2 Motorola Connect, 3 touches, 4 fast camera launch, 5 battery

other than all tech details, I really like the idea of customizing the phone and making it truely unique
After actually using the phone, active notifications and the battery are great for usage. The motomaker is great when it comes to selling the phone.

That's too bad at the end it was a DO NOT BUY. I feel that the camera should be an easy fix because it would just be an OTA update.

The Design. Always liked android but hated these oversized form factors with no regard for one handed usability. Big screen without big phone, finally a decent design!

By "breathing" do you mean the screen fading in and out constantly when there are notifications pending?
Posted about it here to see if it was normal or not, because I don't remember it from the first two days I had the phone, but noticed it this morning.

Yep that what the breathing is exactly. It supposed to reduce the need to unlock the phone to check for social media/email updates.

When I went out to get device back in Nov, I was between this and the G2. I chose this after the Optimus G's inherent fun....not to mention that device was released 3 months before this one, yet is still on 4.1.2. This device is being updated at rocket ship speed, which is a HUGE change from what we all experienced on the Photon...LOL

Well, it may be some time. I have it booting, touch works well, navigation is great. Looks like a great DD...once all working. However, as with all new forays, there are some bugs...some easier than others to squash.
1) Camera preview works, seems to take a picture, but hell if I can figure out where it went...LOL
2) Networking is NG
3) Cellular is NG
4) Audio is NG (this could be a big one, as if you look at the way it needs to be configured, it requires writing of a UCM mixer config for the deviec...LOL
But, I'm going to keep working

Yea the photon turned into a joke sadly. But the good thing about the Optimus G and G2.. They may be behind on updates but both are updated by great devs with the latest version as quick as any other device with all features working nearly 100%. The G2 already has 4.4 internationally and it also helps that the N5 is pretty much the same hardware kind of like the atrix and photon.

Well, before I could do any sort of collaboration, I have to get the source I've got building upped. It's really screwey how they have this thing set up....took 3 different tries to get the right files to actually repo sync. Their instructions seem quite incomplete in some areas, and are totally GONE in others (like the links to getting VoiceCall and HiFi audio working...links are page not found).
Once I get it synced remotely, I'll be more than happy to have some others pitch in. I have a feeling it's going to take a few of us to do it any way.
But for now...if anyone knows how to write UCM mixer files for alsa, I'd love to have some pointers. Their explanation is nearly NIL...LOL
Seeing this put a really big smile on my face

I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem with GEL (v. 0.10...) on Moto x (Sprint). I am on stock 4.4. I played around with GEL and Its not the launcher it self that's causing awake but the Google now that's on the home screen. I turned off Google now and it seems the phone sleeps now. The sucky part is that you turn off Google now completely not just the far left Google now screen. I wish there was a way to turn off just the far left screen and not the whole Google now. Oh well life goes on lol.

Nothing from the Maxx is helpful to us right now. Sony coded in the reboot function as part of their own customization. If/when we get root, there are apps on the market that also let you reboot.
Will we get root? Maybe...quite a few flagship devices are becoming more and more unrootable.
Maxx already has it.

Powering the phone off and then continuing to hold the power button until it turns back on is not a reboot.
If you shut down your computer and then press the power to turn it back on, did you reboot it? Of course not. Your powered it off then turned it back on.
If you want to see what a real reboot looks like, hook your phone to your computer and use ADB to reboot it.
