So I pulled off a surgical miracle for the HTC ONE and managed to replace the front LCD, and rear casing. Before I could lower this monstrosity of an electronic into the rear casing I checked all the wires, connectors etc.
Everything seemed fine. But during the final tests, seeing if it would turn on, The One refused to turn on. When plugged in, the ONE showcases a charge screen, resetting and showing the charge screen once more with the percentage and the red charge light. Otherwise the phone refuses to boot into its standard rom (not custom, just stock). I know that the LCD works for sure because it turned on.
Any idea what could have happened? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I was in germany for a few days recently and we went in someone elses old ford transit van. I plugged my phone into its cigarette lighter socket with my usual car charger. The blue light came on on the charger (it's actually a motorola charger but always works in my own car) and eventually the phone switched off.
I couldn't turn it on again, all I got was the first t-mobile screen for a few seconds and then it switched off. It was certainly hot weather but the phone didn't feel hotter than normal. Even hours later when the phone was completely cooled off it wouldn't turn on. I figured it would need to be returned for repair.
So I managed to do a hard reset in the few seconds the phone would stay on to see if it would make any difference which it didn't. Also, it was for reasons of voiding the warranty with all my 3rd party software which needs to be removed if sending back to htc.
When I got home and plugged the phone into my pc, after a few minutes of charging, it was all ok again! So I didn't need to hard reset and have now reinstalled everything. I'm pretty sure the cigarette lighter socket works ok as it worked once with my artemis and the same charger. I can think of no good reason it didn't charge the battery.
Btw, take a look at this picture. See the stain on the lower side of the back cover? Is that a heat stain from overheating? It won't rub off. The phone is always in it's silicon case. The silcion case shows no evidence of heat marks but I'm wondering if it contributed to the marks.

Maybe I'll take the phone to t-mobile and try and get it cleaned up or replaced, if only the back cover. What do you think?
Anyone with an opinion of heat marks on back cover?
I accidentally dropped my Nexus One when I was taking it out of my pocket.
Now, the touch screen or the charging port does not work
The screen turns on fine, and the trackball and power button work fine, but the screen isn't responsive at all.
In addition, the screen says that I have 0% battery left, even though I know I have well over 80% left.
I've tried to plug in a USB charger and it wouldn't recognize it at all. When I put it on the dock, however, it recognizes it, but still, there is no charging indicator.
Is the phone done for?
Thanks
With all those faults, maybe, but there might be hope. The digitizer connection and charging port internals are all based at the bottom of your phone and seeing that the power button still works then the bottom board is probably damaged. Try eBay for the parts. However if something has been physically damaged on the charging port then you'll have to make sure to change it too.
Update:
Phone is back to working state after numerous reboots and battery pulls.
Can anyone tell me why it was behaving this way?
few days ago i was calling, when i finished talking i just wanna hang up the phone but the end button didn't work, i slide down the status bar and tried to hang up from there, it didn't work neither there, i got mad! and pull the battery. when i power it up the touch wasn't working. i changed the ROM > no answer, changed the kernel and radio > no answer, got the RUU ROM on it > no answer, but sometimes when it's fully charged it'll work but when the battery drains or i do not use the screen the problem come back.
and when the touch is not working if the display goes off, it won't wake up again while the phone is on itself.
any ideas?

Seems like power circuit malfunction. Make sure you're using original HTC wallcharger and cable. Also you should definitely cold-boot your phone: pull out the battery, hold the power button for 15-20 seconds OR leave it without battery for an hour (this is to discharge capacitors on the circuit board).
Next, you should try something, but it is optional of course, you should discharge yourself of the static charge. Touch something conductive and grounded.
Then put the battery back on, try to turn on your phone. If the problem still persists, there are two possible reasons: either you killed something with static charge inside your phone or something on the circuit board is malfunctioning due to the use of non-original wallcharger.
It could actually sound lame, but yes, the best charger is the original one, in the meaning of its specifications, quality and a holy spirit. My HTC One X touchscreen goes wild if I connect it to the new Apple wallcharger, even though it has exactly the same specs as the original one.
UPD: and yes, it is possible to kill a touchscreen with a static charge in some cases. Any capacitive touchscreen panel is a thin piece of glass/plastic which contains a matrix of small, almost transparent semi-conductive capacitors. You can clearly see it on the very bright sun. This matrix is a very sensitive piece of electronics and it could get damaged by the static charge.

If there aren't any dead spots, I mean - if your touchscreen performs well in other situations, then it shouldn't be problem caused by the digitizer.
Someone correct me if I am wrong. :highfive:
Hello, I cracked digitizer of my Xperia.
So I took it apart and wanted to fix it.
I heated, took LCD and digitizer off, tried to separate them nicely, but I'm pretty sure I made a little bit of damage to LCD.
Anyway, now I wanted to try phone without screen before ordering parts (you know, maybe I damaged motherboard or something... )
So... I plug all the cables, make everything back except digitizer is off now, but LCD is on.
I try to turn it on, it vibrates and that's it. Nothing more and after waiting over 10 minutes it still doesn't show any signs of life. Plugging USB cable from PC or ac does not show any signs. I can't do anything until I unplug battery and plug it back.
If I try to stick USB cable before turning it on, red led flashes brightly and that's it. What's even more interesting, if I unplug the cable, led keeps flashing and I have to unplug battery again.
I can see green led flash for a second when holding volume up and plugging to PC and blue led keeps for long time if I plug to PC while holding volume down.
So now you know my situation, does it have to be like that or no?
Maybe there's a back signal from LCD I mean if it's not connected, phone does not work or something.
Before everything phone was working perfectly.
Hope to hear some advice, thank you.

Its looks like a mo-bo issue for USB and LED issue. Check whether all connectors are in place. Also for digitizer issue i thing either the connector is not properly attached or the flex cable is damage.
Any more opinions?
Hi all.
I got my M8's display broken and tried to fix it on my own, because my trusted service didnt.
After reassembling the Phone with the new display it didnt power on. Plugging the recharger turns the display on and the screen shows an empty battery logo with a lightning flash inside, but no green beam inside. The orange LED keeps flashing, not glowing.
Holding power/vol-up/down buttons make the display and LED turn off and on again. Shortly before the display turns off, the orange LED starts flashing green once for an instant.
Mounting my old broken display afterwards (which is wasted now) made my phone boot again once.
I'm not sure if this is conflicted to the battery, as I found the same synonyms according to a total discharge. When disassembling the phone I might have damaged the battery slightly.
Is there a way to functional check the battery?
I connected a resistor and a LED to the galaxy s5's batteries contacts and it illuminated, while the M8's battery is built completely different.
My MO was:
Firstly I disassembled my phone according to this video (its german).
After taking out the battery, I complete disassembled the front case, including camera/sim/sd card-unit etc. (the video didnt show disassembling that unit).
I bought a new front case unit including display, digitizer etc.
So I mounted all units on the new front case.
I'd be really encouraged! Thanks for help.
EDIT
I replaced the battery and the display once more. It works fine now.
I Have the same issue, did you buy a new battery?
