Purchased Monster DNA In-ear for Xperia SP
To me Xperia SP audio output is too under powered. (power saving purpose maybe?)
Ending up getting an ipod touch 5th gen for music.
For casual phone chats, I uses my old Bose mobile iphone earbuds. (don't remember the model)
Edit:
Found the model.
Bose MIE2i mobile headset
I would say if one really wants to listen to music with their phones, get a portable amp. FIIO ROCKY E02i is pretty good.
then pair it with a decent earphone.
I personally stopped using portable amp, because of the cables... just look too awkward.

Any guide to choose headset (earbuds, mic, volume control)?

I found the best wired headset

This topic was not opend to praise Apple for its products but to let you know that i've tried several products in order to replace the original HTC HD2 headset (wich is crap by the way) and Apple is the way to go.
I have tried to replace the earbuds on the original headset like shown in the tutotial in the wiki section, I have tried different headphones from Sony Ericsson, Phillips etc.
This morning I tried the Iphone 3G headset... the sound is unbelivable... and on top of that you have the mic and the play/pause/answer/hangup... and with headset button app you can do even forward/back/volume etc.
That's it! Just wanted to let you know
bull****, i have both htc and apple's headphones they both crap but the best headphone i have ever tried is the v moda2.......
the beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
ya may be ,but i thought we are talking about sound quality here.lol...anyway i like my v moda2 but i cant control music from that.do you know any best and cheap bluetooth connector so i can combine my headphones with it to work on hd2.
Sorry to break it to you but you haven't found the best wired headset.
If I ever need to buy a headset with remote control it will be the Etymotic HF2... I doubt you can get anything better sounding that has a remote control. http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/hf2.aspx
Brgds... /Tubgirl
they may be better but they are more than 6 times the price of an iphone 3G headset... and do you know if the remote works with the HD2?
yes these are good but check it out i am using these vibeii and the only problum i am facing(as i mentioned before)is the track backword/forward button is not compatilble with my hd2.however i can still use the mike and play/pause button and one more thing sound is incedible for that much value.that is why i am looking for some sort of bluetooth reciver extention so i can use controllers.
best is hd2's headset modded with in-ears
DN41
i modified it with earbuds from a pair of ipod shuffle headphones (that sounded great on the ipod) but the result is not that good on the HD2
anyway... from what i've seen Etymotic HF2 looks promising...
Best headphones are closed ones ( I prefer Sennheiser , I've got HD515 model)
In-ear : same , Sennheiser , (cx and mx series).
I don't really use a headset but just for listening to music daily, I use the Zune Premium headphones, you can get them pretty cheap on Amazon now and the sound is excellent.
They've no controls but sound quality of the Klipsch Image S4 are brilliant

Has anyone compare the etymotic's to the Shure's - I currently have a pair of old Shure EC3's and the sound is superb?

I have has several set of shures, and now i am the using se210, on both my HD2 and my Zune hd 32gb, they are phenominal.Pricey but worth every cent
Well I think for music my westone UM3X or ATH-CK100 blow all of them out of the water - especially as I have custom sleeves for them......HOWEVER, they don't have a remote control, and are bloody expensive
So kudos to the op for finding a cheap earbud that sounds good enough for the HD2 (as tbh it is a pretty crappy music player if you use high end IEMs), with a FULLY working remote.
Sennheiser for theh win! I had bose inears 125 euros, they did sound like ****,now i have sennheisers cx300 version 2 for 35 euros and sounds much better. @home i use the sennheiser hd 515,also great ghehe. I put these 2 in a jabra bt 3030,best wireless remote ever

[Q] Compatible Music Heaphones?

I previously had a HTC Droid Incredible and it was wonderful because it came with headphones that I could use to control my music from the cord and answer calls with the built-in mic.
Are there any specific headphones that work as such for the Droid Bionic?
* Music controls (play/pause, next, previous)
* Answering phone calls
I am not sure if there is a universal standard that works with all phones through the headphone jack. I would prefer the connection through the headphone jack rather than the micro usb port, but I am craving the music controls, so I could care less really.
Klipsch image S4 Android.
There are about 3 diffrent versions to these. You want the android version.

Do you have any requests in terms of sound quality? I have a set of etymotic headphones and they're definitely a great option for sound quality. I don't have experience with a pair that has built in controls, but they do have a couple options. They aren't the cheapest, but they're definitely a good brand. The one thing you should be warned about with them is that they work best with the tips that require them to be inserted well into the ear canal. It creates a proper seal and contributes to the audio quality, but some people find that uncomfortable. I personally found it a little awkward feeling at first, but I quickly grew accustomed to it.
Here's their range of headphones + mic/controls:
http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/hscomp.html
They indicate which options should work with which devices... there are a couple that are marked as working android, so I would assume there is some standard that they know is used. I have no way of knowing for sure if it will work with all android devices though.
It would definitely be nice if they had some standard naming pattern for the proper signal or whatever is different between devices so there was a clearer understanding of which headphones to look at.
Thank you guys. Im not too worried about the sound quality. If I'm going to pay 100 bucks for a pair of headphones, I gotta imagine they have some good boom. I just needed something to keep me going without having to pull my phone out my pocket all the time.
Like I mentioned earlier. The Klipsch image S4.
Read reviews for it online.
The sound quality IMHO puts Beats to shame.
The price is a bar in. Deffinetly not expensive compared to other brands.
Plus the android version of those headphones allows you to control your music player.
Most wired headphones that allows you to skip track, pause, play etc. are not compatible with android unless it says so in the specs.
Get something that you know will work. Nobody I know who ever brought a klipsch has ever had second thoughts.

Other than buying new headphones, is there a way to get iphone headphones to work with the bionic? I already have a pair and would kinda like to avoid making more of an investment. Any type of app that would allow the buttons on the mic of the iphone headphones to work with my bionic to change songs and answer calls?
Good question. Maybe there is.
I haven't yet seen a music app that supports wired iphone headsets controls.
WP7 and blackberry do but if it does exist for android, i have yet to see it.

Hopefully one of our friendly neighborhood devs will be able to put something together.
have you thought about the rocketfish headphones from best buy? they work really good and sound good with or without poweramp and their only 60 bucks and their wireless. able to place voice commands, answer calls, change tracks, volume, pause/play, etc. i was skeptical about buying them but they get used daily.
The Jabra Clipper is awesome...
I've tried several different headphones and bluetooth earpieces ever since they came out. After a while of trying different ones I've come up with my favorites, especially after having an Android phone. I'm on my third Droid (OG, D2, now Bionic) and have been able to maintain these two ever since my first one.
The Jabra Clipper is great because I can listen to my music in stereo, wirelessly, and then answer any calls I may get without missing a beat. It automatically pauses the music when someone calls in. Also, I can control the volume and tracks with the clipper.
The Plantronics 975 is the newest version of my old, old one. I've had this earpiece longer than any other because it has its own case so I don't break it. The little case it comes with also has a battery in it so you can recharge it by putting it back in the case.
Just my two cents. Laters...
Motorola S305 Bluetooth Stereo Headset
I have the Motorola S305 Bluetooth Stereo Headset $38 on Amazon (2/15/12).
You can find it here
It's lightweight, pairs easily with my Bionic and HTC Flyer, controls volume, next, previous, pause, volume up/down, accepts android voice commands, and answers calls.
It is great for the gym and the volume is more than adequate.
I highly recommend it.
klipsch is always good for earbuds, they always fit well and have great sound quality coming from an in ear setup. I currently use the Klipsch s4 to listen to music. Never knew there was a specific earbud for Android, will have to get those next time!

I just recently got me the LG Tone. http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phone-accessories/lg-HBS700-tone
I have really enjoyed it because of its convenience. You can just have one ear piece in if you want. Has magnet holding area for each ear piece. Comfortable Nice controls all on head set. Decent sound quality as well.
Little pricey but good battery life as well. Built in Mic blah blah blah.
I enjoy it quite a bit.

Sound and Bluetooth Headphones

"Hearing' that people are saying the sound is 'crap' (their words), I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to try a decent set of bluetooth earbuds or headphones?
I would like something with a full range, good highs and lows. I have a decent pair of corded Sennheisers that I used to use with my TF101 Transformer, but I am afraid the SQ may be as bad as others are saying.
These have decent reviews:

I use a Sony MW600 with my phones (n7 hasn't arrived yet, but plan on using the MW600 with it as well). I think that the Smart Wireless Headset pro replaced the MW600, but not 100% sure.
I *totally* recommend the mw600's (and I'm assuming the newer Smart Wireless Headset pro will be similar in quality). The sound quality is excellent. I'd call myself a casual audiophile... I appreciate good sound even if I don't have a "golden ear". I really don't detect any difference between the BT audio and direct cable with the same headphones.
So that being said, I used the mw600s till the included ear buds (in ear buds, not quite IEMs) wore out. I now use the teeny MW600 with my Sennheiser HD25 SPs. LOVE THIS COMBINATION. It's amazing how long the MW600 drives the HD25s, how loud and clear the audio can be.
And the Sony BT dongle handles calls as well, of course.
Get it (or the smart wireless headset pro, I'd assume they are similar in quality, but best to research) and the HD25 SPs and you're golden.
Note that I did recable my HD25 SPs and built a split cable that pigtails short off of the headphones so I can clip the Sony dongle to my shirt, along with an extension if I'm using the HD25s hardwired.
I currently use some MM400 sennheisers, works great on my N7, iPhone ect
The forward/backwards function works too!

I use a set of JayBird Freedoms that I use with my Motoactv and my GS2. Sound quality is pretty similar to my Bose IE2's. They carry good range, highs and lows. I have read that they have a great warranty and good customer support. Luckily I have not had to put it to the test yet.
Jaybirds here also. I've had them for about 8 months and love them.

If you are looking for bluetooth, make sure it has the apt-x codec. It makes your audio files sound like a wired headset. I use the HTC stereoclip in my car and for my EVO LTE. The soun difference is amazing. The samsung hs3000 has it also and they come with earbuds and it is only $34 on Amazon. Look on the Evo lte forums under accessories to learn more.
Has anyone used the LG Tone - HBS700 Wireless Bluetooth Headset? Looks like it has good reviews and it would be comfortable to wear. I'm debating on buying it. I listen to music relatively frequently as i'm out and about and would like to go wireless for convenience, but not sure if it is an absolute necessity.

Bluetooth audio is about convenience, but there really are some gems out there for audio quality.
I'm still using a 5+ year old set of Jabra bluetooth headphones I bought new from Tigerdirect when they mysteriously went on sale for $25 shipped.. and a few days later they went back up to the normaly $125... not before me advising a bunch of co-workers at the time and letting them try them out.
This was when Bluetooth 2.1+edr was pretty cutting edge, and for wireless headphones they sound fantastic.
That being said, when I get my Nexus 7 16gb pre-order in, I'll test them out... but on a new device I have no doubts they'll sound great.
I also have an old pair of KOSS headphones, with full range, but they look ridiculous with large bold print on each ear, but they sound great.
I'd update that, but I rarely wear headphones while at home. I work for a large Canadian Bank doing internal IT, and I wear a monural plantronics headphone most of the day, so I give my ears a break after hours.

Can you give the me specs like frequency response and dB/mW ?
How is bass and call volume ?
Can you compare it with any sony earphones in your experience ?
Never Buy Skullcandy/Bose/Beats.
Never buy anything from Skullcandy or any company of that sort. Their ear/headphones are just gimmicky and offer pathetic frequency-noise ratio. The bass is muddy, the mids are non-existant - case in point.
I use a pair of Sennheiser CX 175 and/or Sennheiser CX 300 II Precision. These are probably the best earphones one can get within 4k (65$)). You can read reviews over at Amazon and see that they are well worth the investment.
Read this and this and this and this and this to find out why audiophiles always stay away from Skullcandy.
Because i listen alot of vocal dubstep and music with a deep base i took those for my ZR - HA-FX3X. here are the specs if you need http://xtreme.jvc.com/spec.html - (scroll down abit).im prety satisfied with the sound quality and deep base
Sony MDR-EX 220LP is good.Good bass Nice fit.Good isolation.13.5mm driver unit.

I dont think that you have to buy very expensive hi fi headphones if you want use them only with xperia zr. Unless you do not connect an external usb sound card or at least an external amplifier, do not expect superior sound quality. I don't understand why Sony's former top phone like Z / ZR (= not cheap) cannot match to sound produced by Samsung S2/S3/S4 phones. Even tiny and cheap 'sansa clip zip' sounds much bettter than xperia z.
I can agree with akash4357 that Sennheiser CX 300 are really great in their price range.
I'm using the SONY MH-EX300AP which came with the Xperia Z in the box ,it's great for me

I have OP3 & use following headphones/earphones
1. Sony XB30
2. MEE Electronics M6 Pro
3. 1More Tripple Driver
4. Audio Technica ATH AD900X
5. Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro's
I change between these according to my needs and the songs i listen.
Though as i told earlier, audio is subjective. Try before you buy
I'm using Xiaomy Hybrid Dual Driver, too, and think about switching to Xiaomi HDPro or Sony MDR EX-450AP.
Generally speaking I prefer earbuds (I.e. in-ear headsets) over other solutions because they give good isolation and immersive sound.
Curious to see what other suggestions will be given here...

Imo the Sony sounds better. They are more expensive and they're headphones whereas the Sennheisers are earphones. I use the Sennheisers when I'm on the go and the Sony's when I'm at home listening to music or watching a show etc.
I am using Apple Ear pods, sound is good but the volume control buttons of the earphones are not working
I'm using apple ear pods they sound really good tbh.
I use SoundMagic E10's for my Earphones. For headphones I use Audio Technica ATH-M50X's both awesome and inexpensive

I like the Bose SoundSport earbuds
I use for years some replica of big Beats. Sounds fine on 3 HTC phones & now on OnePlus 3.
i use mee audio mduo, xiaomi piston basic and a jvc ha-fx1x , i can tell the most balanced are the mduo, great bass and trebs, the jvc ones are too basshead, the pistons delivers a greater sound/placement comfort ratio (those thins doesn't fall off even when running), but overall experience gets powered up with a good player, i use poweramp with hi-res output (no eq or tone enabled) + stock eq set on general enhancement + metal preset, i know theese are budget earbuds but they seemed to offer great quality over more expensive ones (shure se 215), hope this helped you
