Unfortunately today I also noticed small "pixels" of dust under my screen too. I do not think there is a way to clean it without opening the device. We should probably find a way to prevent that..

So still no one knows how to open the screen safely. Theres two star shaped screws on either side of the phone on the bezel, would that help to remove screen or am I going to risk breaking something? Please help.

bro if u take my advice dont do it yourself. I know how difficult it is to ignore it when u notice it.
By if u do it ur self u may put more of it then taking it out.
So if u really want it then take it to a preoffesional.

Sony repair quoted me 40 pounds. Id rather do it myself.

Do I have to disassemble the whole phone from the back just to get to the front glass or is there an easier way?

Yes and as was previously suggested don't do it yourself you will just ruin the device of you are not an electronics engineer to put it back together as you found it. Its a tough job to reverse engineer electronic devices even those who are easily accessible imagine doing the same thing to your compact phone

The only way would be to disassemble the phone. The front digitiser is not glued to the LCD on this model as it is with other phones so it's not as hard as it may seem to get the dust out. Although you will need to completely disassemble the phone to get to the dust.

I have these PDF's downloaded so let me know if you need.

PM me an email to send to.

this may sound stupid but if you have a bike pump or air compressor use it to blow the dust out trough the micro usb port it may work and no disassembly required

Does anybody know if sony can clean the dust and does it come under the warranty?

In India they clean it under warranty, I got my screen dust free once from Sony center but after few months at present dust is back and now they are charging INR 350 (6$) for cleaning.

[Q] Help!!! cracked my screen

what....???how,...??DUDE that's Gorilla Glass....anyways i don't think it would be covered in warranty though as it is a physical Damage..see if u have any hTC service centers near by and they repair it for u ..u might need to pay
If you have USB debugging enabled you can view your screen using the android sdk. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1496213
Otherwise I think you're out of luck. There's a couple of threads about replacing the screen in the forum though.

You know what even a friend of mine got a noticeable scratch on the 'gorilla' the day he bought the phone.
Just by sliding it into his pocket!
me, have no screen guard & not a scratch yet in over a year
funny

Cleaning kit.

It's probably impossible but still going to ask. I have these small black things on my pictures when I take them with my camera. It's some kind of dust behind the glass but infront of the camera. Is it possible to clean it myself or do I need to go to the phone shop under warranty?
i think you can do it yourself but there's no harm in asking for waranty to do it =) besides i think it isn't that easy

Hi there!
Don't worry! (I think... lol)
I have the same "issue"...
I think it's normal.. You should be worried if you see water get inside the "orange area", where the battery is.
I wash my phone once a week and when i finish, i dry it with a towel and open the back cover to dry some little drops of water that entered the camera and lower area, as you said.
Always make sure the back cover and connections are really closed and it should be fine! (I hope! )

Yes it actually might. No seal would last forever. So be a little careful. Try to swap as little as possible or get a larger sd card.

Well honestly I don't know the build quality of your phone so I can't comment on how long it will last. I wasn't trying to scare you or anything, was just saying that any lock/seal will deteriorate over time with usage. But maybe it would last so long that you wouldn't have to worry.

No problem! Try not to open and close it too much.

even xperia active still has water inside ... but , the water there , as in near of camera, is not dangerous ... as long as the water doesn't pass through the rubber seal

I also cracked my screen when my phone came out of my pocket. I can't even use it not because it wont let me unlock the swipe.
how did you determine that you need the LCD also and not just the outer layer which i assume is the digitizer? When you change yours, will you take a vid for tutorial? Im afraid to touch mine unless there is a tutorial.
Thanks
I wouldn't recommend to do that alone if you aren't absolutely sure what you are doing.
It's very tricky to assemble device again and even if you managed to disassemble and assemble it again you could leave fingertips on it or dust and it'll look terrible...
I won't even mention waterproof - no way to do all assembling right without proper tools.
Leave that to experts.
My wife's Xperia U felt down and front screen (digit) broke.
We paid only 200 kn (around 30€) and it was perfect.
Give 20-30€ or $ more, it's expensive device and 20$ could turn into 1000$ damage.

the reason is most smartphones now lcd and digitizer come super glued together, you gonna need to replace both, also i think they only sell the all together.
i still have my acro s so when the price goes down on the set i'll make a video tutorial and post it here for you.
besides the glue and seals the xperia z1 is quite easy to take a part.
oh one more thing, i fix phones and computers for a living

[Q] Are my port covers failing?

I'm noticing that my charging port cover is starting to have some issues staying closed. Sometimes it pops up unless I close it in a particular matter. Just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about regarding this phone's ability to be waterproof. Does this happen with all models overtime (Only been 2 months!) and will replacing them compromise the IPX58 certification in any way. I'm kinda disappointed i'm having this issue so soon.
Absolutely you should be worry about it because this can compromise the water resistant option. Is the first time I hear about that so probably not happen to everyone. Check if the rubber inside is not pinch or something like that. Anyway this will not help so you should go tho the store and ask if is covered by warranty, do not panic, even if is not the flaps are cheap and even if you will have pay for it, will be few back only, i know is not fair but ask them first.

Easy, you don't have to open even the phone to replace them, just pull out the flap from the small hole, be careful to do not cut it so no pieces will stuck inside and then if you get the new flap with a toothpick you put it in.
EDIT: Sorry, I was thinking you want to replace them and not oil them! My Bad!
..but you can do it in the same way.
