That's the problem. There is no way to add anything there.
The only option is "Reset to Default" which, when you do it, does nothing.

I learned from tech department (after 1 week of talking, calling and researching) that it is 100% that Moto X has defected software if it doesn't have any APNs or options to add them. I had to have APNs from Verizon and I had none. Talk to Motorola to try to replace the device. They got you and me defected software devices.

The OP flashed Verizon firmware on a non Verizon Moto X. I highly doubt Motorola cares that an option is missing. They will generally want you run firmware and hardware that matches.

I have the same problem with a stock Verizon Moto X (cannot add APN). The phone works when I plug in att sim, but I hope I can set APN as I know some foreign sim can't work without setting APN.
I saw that with a previous phone, there is discussion about Verizon blocking APN setting. Does this apply to Moto X? Does the solution also apply?

First off I would assume you network unlocked the phone first correct? Make sure you have the correct APN settings set that allow you to receive messages on Page Plus. Check out this video on how to add APN's in Android or this article. These page plus APN settings should help you get MMS back http://pageplusdealer.com/PagePlus/catalog/DataSettings.php. Also check out Cyanogenmod's master APN list it has a ton of APN's for various carriers you can likely find it in there. Let me known if you need any more help .
thanks for replying
Unlock the phone? Im not sure. I get calls and sms fine.

I think you may have went into the phones storage settings by mistake not the APN settings. To acess APN settings should be under settings->Wirless and Networks->Mobile Networks->APN's.

He didn't go to storage settings. I have Verizon Wireless, but still retain a legacy Alltel plan that I had before VZW bought Alltel out. Android phones with normal Verizon Wireless plans have the options of "Automatic" and "Home Only" In Settngs>Mobile Networks>Select Network. Also, in About Phone>Status under "Network" it unsurprisingly says "Verizon Wireless."
However, Mine and the other phone on this plan have differed from the above because in our two phone's settings>mobile networks>Select networks, we have three options:"Automatic A," "Automatic B," and "Home Only." (Always defaults to Automatic B, incidently) On top of that, in About Phone>Status, under "Network" instead of saying "Verizon Wireless", it always says "Unknown."
Nobody at Verizon was ever able to give me a clear or concise explanation as to why exactly those settings are different. Obviously it has something to do with the Alltel plan, but the plan name is merely just a way of Verizon keeping track of how to bill me. I still am on Verizon's network. (Alltel no longer even operates in my state), So, I've always been curious as to the technical reasoning for this variation from all other phones. Hell, nobody was ever even able to explain what "Automatic A and B" even are.
Anyway, I was just browsing these forums for old time sake after finding my OG Droid under the seat of my car, which had been missing for months, and thought I should clarify what this gentleman meant by A and B.

Automatic A, and Automatic B refer to analog (AMPS) and digital (CDMA), at the time right before the merger with Verizon Alltel was using both analog and digital operating on the 800 MHz band. However, they were forced to phase these out due to 3G 1xEV-DO being implemented across essentially 100% of the cellular market, also Verizon was forced to get rid of this as well to move toward launching there 4G LTE network. Check out this article for more information, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alltel#Network_technology.

No Unlock Menu Pops Up

I bought a US Cellular Moto X off of Ebay. I unlocked the Moto X successfully since I receive the message each time I turn on my phone but no unlock menu popped open.
I have the correct T-Mobile SIM card, I am able to search the internet but I can't make calls, receive calls, and the same for texts. When I call, I receive the welcome to verizon wireless message and the texts do not go through.
Please help.

If you go to the main settings menu, then under Wireless & Networks, select More... and in the new screen that pops up, select Mobile networks, then Access Point Names, you'll have to find the APN settings for your carrier and add them manually if they don't show up when your SIM is inserted.

There is a way to access the APN list using a hidden programming menu. I don't know if the dialer shortcut will work on the version you have, but to try it, dial ##7764726 if it works and asks for a password, use 000000
One of the options should be APN controls. Hopefully T-Mobile US will be one of the APNs.
Is it possible that there might be a problem with your SIM card since some features work and others dont?

I'll try that.
It's US Cellular phone but I use T-Mobile SIM card, it was a brand new sim card. When I dailed, I kept getting "Welcome to Verizon Wireless"
Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes in a few hours.
According to US Cellular's webs site, their device supports CDMA/EVDO, since you are trying to use it on T-Mobile, you'll need to manually switch the phone to GSM/UMTS mode, or Global Mode. (App drawer -> Settings icon -> (under Wireless & Networks) More... -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode).
While in there under Mobile Networks, you'll also need to tap on Access Point Names... If the APN settings came down automaticlly from T-Mobile you need to select it. If no entry for T-Mobile exists, you'll need to find the settings and create one. (Google found them when I looked) NOTE: with Android JB 4.2.2 on my Verizon X (XT1060, also supports CDMA/EVDO in addition to LTE and GSM), the APN settings came down automatically. After upgrading to KitKat 4.4, I had to manually enter them.
When I setup my Verizon X for use with my T-Mobile SIM, I couldn't get MMS working for some reason, even though I was using the same APN settings as my T-Mobile Galaxy S3.
Also, keep in mind that T-Mobile uses 1700/2100 AWS for their HSPA+. As far as I know, only the T-Mobile version and GSM Developer edition supports this band, so you might not get "4G HSPA/HSPA+" with your X even after setting it up correctly. If you are lucky, and are in one of the areas where T-Mobile has completed re-farming their spectrum, you will get H+.
Good luck.

Based on that screen shot, your preferred network mode is still set to LTE/CDMA... that is wrong for T-Mobile. (SEE POST #12 of this thread!!) You want it to be GSM/UMTS or GLOBAL!! And you want to have the boxes checked for Data Enabled and Data Roaming.
You do not have options for Global Data Roaming Access and Access Point Names which I have on my Verizon Moto X, so that makes me question a few things....
In the first post you say you successfully unlocked your phone.. do you mean SIM Unlocked, or BootLoader Unlocked??
Also in the first post you mention seeing a message each time you reboot.. What exactly does the message say?
I ask because if you unlocked the boot loader, your phone could still be SIM locked and therefore not recognizing the T-Mobile SIM properly, and not giving you the Global options and APN options needed for GSM mode.

It is BootLoader Unlocked not SIM unlocked.
The message I get is about the warning about the bootloader being unlocked.
I believe it is SIM locked still.

Yes, if not SIM unlocked, you're stuck. You need to get it SIM UNLOCKED.
Take a look at this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422854 apparently some are using cellunlocker [.net] to get their X SIM unlocked, although they don't have US Cellular listed when I picked MOTO X from their list, so you might have to pick "Unknown" or "not listed" for the carrier.

you might have to pick "Unknown" or "not listed" for the carrier. Or email them and ask if they can do US Cellular. If they can't you'll need to find another site that can supply unlock codes.

[Q] [Help] XT1060 Radio not working after 4.4.4 OTA

Hello
I am in a great trouble and would really appreciates if someone can help me out here
I live outside U.S and I bought XT1060 verizon Moto X yesterday. The retailer put my GSM sim inside phone and it worked fine without any errors. Voice, sms and gprs was working fine. Phone was 4.4.2 Kitkat stock rom.
Last night i went to settings > about > system update. and there i found that an update is available for 4.4.4. I downloaded the update and installed it successfully without any error. Now my phone is working like before but it can not register my cellular network anymore :crying: No voice no sms no data.
It sometimes grabs the signals and then drops and sometimes shows full signal bars with "No Service" network settings.
I have tried UMTS/GSM mode and Global mode but no use. With global version it shows some 5 digit number on cellular icon in notification area.
Please somebody tells me if Verizon version is sim-lock free then why i am having this issue?

Due to the FCC rules around the 700mhz C block auction in the USA which Verizon won, they do not SIM lock their LTE phones. And the 4.4.4 OTA on the XT1060 definitely did not SIM luck the X.
Please make sure that your APN settings on your phone are still set correctly for your carrier. If they are not, your phone will not work.
While in many cases the APN settings come down automatically from the carrier, sometimes the phone relies on a table file that is part of the ROM itself instead. If the settings don't come down automatically, and the table got changed (either settings for your carrier were removed, or are no longer correct for your carrier in the 4.4.4 update), you must manually enter them to have working services.
You will have to check with your carrier what the correct APN settings are, and check them against your phone, or visit the GSM Retailer where you got your SIM, and ask them to check it.

Which table file of ROM your'e talking about ? How do i know that my carrier is already listed in that table and how to edit that table since my phone is not rooted even.
For an update, i went a retailer and there was a guy who took my phone and did the trick and my phone gets the sim registered for Voice and data (3G). I couldn't see him doing the magic but definately he didn't rooted the phone neither he crooks the ROM every thing was in its place when i get my phone back.
So wondering what he might have changed after which phone started working normal.

If you are rooted, take a look at -> /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
That being said, you don't need to be rooted to MANUALLY enter APN settings via App Drawer -> Settings -> More..(under Wireless & Networks) -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names... But you do need the right values, and to enter them without any typographical errors.

Sim option stopped working on 1058

I have a 1058 moto x that was originally on the Element mobile CDMA network (which is now owned by att)
Anyway It was working in the Dominican republic no problem with a local Sim. I was trying to do sonetging , I can't remember what, and I bumped the drop down menu in test mode with all the radio options and selected a new one. So after reading I got back in selected the one that seamed right and it wouldn't select. Nor will it go off of global mode in Network settings. I can't select Sim settings anywhere. So now I have no service. The thing that kills me is that I have been using this phone for two weeks with no problem. Did I lock it to something? Please help or send me a link to a related post. I couldn't find anything like this when looking.

Use your Sprint phone on T-Mobile.....ZV6 users only?

This is not mine, I take no credit, Mayrer has done most of the hard work for us, you credit him for his work and everyone he has worked on to get your Sprint to working for GSM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spri...nlock-t3229801
I have only updated the information for changing in hidden menu and PropEditor. I also credit the maker for the CDMA to GSM Patch, Mentor.37 for his work and everyone else who has helped him.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689
I do not know if this will work for any other Sprint phone not on ZV6
Bands 2, 4, 12 are for bands T-Mobile.
Download PropEditor and edit these settings....Don't forget this step first!!
ro.build.target_operator=SPR => TMO
ro.build.target_country=US
ro.telephony.default_network => 9
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice => 0 ....don't forget to save and reboot.
Along with Hidden Menu 5689#*991# to change your APN settings properly and set
Field Test => Modem Settings =>
PDP Setting => [5] APN Setting ...... now you have to select the bottom one then go into menu [ ] press until you see delete APN
you must do this because a bug I am seeing only allows the bottom APN setting to be used, I usually delete all until the APN I use is on the very bottom selection. no go back
Network Mode = Automatic => go back => RAT Selection = GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
LTE Band Selection doesn't work proplerly so installing the modded Shortcut Master (Lite) from the link above be sure to go to
lotHiddenMenuMain (witout root) => LTE setting=> LTE Data Roam Config....and enable
Bar Roam Forced
Bar Roam Enabled
Roam Guard Forced
Roam Guard Enabled
Band 2
Band 4
Band 12 go back
Band 25 should be disabled unless you can use it. You cannot really set APN here.
I sometimes install the CDMA to GSM patch for global phones but I then have to re-do the PropEditor settings again, but it may be able to configure anything else that is missing, you can try to Adb Sideload the zip or use FlashGordon app to try to install, honestly I don't know if either worked for me for the patch.
This is what I configure to get my phone to working with T-Mobile.
I only submit this, I cannot provide support, you can always add on to anything else I may have missed or messed up, thank you.
Has anybody with an LG G4 rom version ZVG been able to successfully get their phone working on T-Mobile?
My phone is paid off and Sprint sent the domestic SIM unlock code. When the TMO sim is in and the phone's network mode is set to Auto, and and APN is manually entered per TMobile's specs, the phone can connect to the network and make calls, send SMS, connect to EDGE data, and sometimes send MMS, but it never connects to LTE. If I change the network mode to LTE/CDMA, the phone doesn't connect at all.
I read elsewhere to try change the "Bearer" field in the APN to "LTE" but that field is not displayed or editable in the APN input/edit screen. I tried a bunch of the Shortcut Master (Lite) or similar ways to expose the hidden menus to edit the full APN but they all fail due to permissions (because of ZVG version?). Shortcut Master (Lite) says it would work if upgraded to the paid Secret Codes version, can anybody verify that before I pay?
Or, any other suggestions to get this fully working with LTE or can even confirm that this is possible?
guys this is kinda old news
the build prop also is better set from
ro.build.target_operator=SPR => OPEN
then xposed modules such as android theme and such work.
but great find on thew band settings
ive been running my g2 g3 and g4 on tmobile and att and its subsidiaries for a long times now
and the g series sprint phones have been the best at taking to other networks due to the sprints already supporting most of the bands`
---------- Post added at 08:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:43 AM ----------
request for modderators to move this thread to the general area
i also thin the mellow mallow international roms go up to zvb which should work on tmobile and i can verify att networks
Doesn't the phone need to be rooted for the build prop to be edited?
And as far as I can tell, there isn't a root for a G4 on ZVG firmware?
Basically, to start with, can anybody confirm if a LS991 ZVG can be made to work on TMobile without root, or if there is a good rooting method, where is it?
Thanks.

Can you be more specific on what I need to ask Sprint about? Like I said, I asked for the the Domestic Sim Unlock and they sent that over the air and a confirmation showed up on the phone. It does not reject the T-Mobile SIM like it would normally, so something has changed from the default state.
Still looking for confirmation from somebody that has successfully connected their ZVG LS991 to TMO after a Domestic Sim Unlock.

so its accerpting the sim but apns are still greyed out where u cant edit them
need to ask sprint for the msl of this device so u can attempt to edit the apns it may take a few calls but most of the time if u keep ure cool and keep trying they will eventually give it to you
tell them the situation u paid it off they sent u the unlock code but are still unable to edit the apn without the msl
