Hi,
Was setting up my Samsung Galaxy Camera on a tripod, and wasn't paying attention to weight distribution. it toppled over and pushed the lens in somewhat. Trying to fiddle with it to get it back to normal managed to push the internal section to disconnect entirely (it moves when I move the camera back and forth).
I watched the teardown video by AdamOutler thinking that it may be a simple fix, but am not so sure now, since it is the part to do with the optics. Because it is just the zoom mechanism, am I safe trying to do the repair myself? Or is it still best to go back to Samsung. It is just out of warranty, so I am trying to avoid a large cost of repairs.
I got the same problem too early Nov last year. Best is send back to Samsung. If you're afraid of the cost, ask for quotation first.

Hey, guys sorry for my English first.
I have a problem with the camera device and I see her a lot of people also, I sent for repair and came back, worked, after a week \ month again with the same problem stopped working.
I thought I might try to order from EBAY new camera and go to shop them to put it, what say?
Thank you.
Someone? Help
Ive not opened up a htc hd7 yet but usually the physical camera circuits are hardwired to the main phones board so swapping it out isn't an option. replacing the buttons or even the lens might be possible.
this place has an picture of a part they claim is the camera module for an hd7
I'm assuming the phone wont take any photos or initialize the camera from neither the hardware buttons or from any software app on your handset.
and also HTC will give warranty repair for 1 year from the Manufactured date or point of purchase you do not need to necessarily be the original owner. Id give them a call and confirm that it isnt covered before going the open it myself route.
Thanks for your response, about responsibility, I can say he fought with this device and responsibility for six months, just send it for repair, return, working a month, sometimes less, and destroyed again.
Dee gave up messing with it, that's why I ask.
By the way his responsibility was over.
Hi guys, so I somehow shattered the lens on the back of my phone and ordered a replacement online. However, I thought about just replacing the camera sensor as well because it has the focus issue where I have to masterbate my phone by shaking it before every picture. I would love to just replace the lens and send it in to samsung for repair since I'm still under the 1 year warranty, however, I'm not sure if they'd check my knox counter, which will show the phone has been adulterated.
I can't seem to find Samsung parts online for the note 4, I don't want some generic camera sensor. However, the GS6 uses the same imx240 sensor and original parts can be found online.
Do you think there will be an issue with the gs6 sensor in my note 4? Replacing parts on electronics isn't an issue for me, I am just more interested in compatibility.
Thanks for your time and any assistance!
As far was warrant hours,I have a galaxy tab s that was under warranty. I rooted it, but was completely stock. The thing just turned off one day. They replaced the motherboard and said the charging port was bad and replaced it as well. Then they said I had rooted it, do they wouldn't cover it. Even though it was hardware failure, they denied it because of root. I spoke with everyone I could at Samsung, but to no avail. And yes I was beyond nice to them. If it was a software issue, I would have paid the stupid fine and moved on. But a hardware failure in the first 6 months they should cover. So just a heads up on trying for a warranty if you've rooted it.

Search the note 4 forum. I'm sure someone tried this already and it didn't work.
I'm having major camera problems with my Note 9. I suspect it's a hardware issue. I've made a video explaining all my problems so it can better be demonstrated.

Questions I need answered if I go that route:
Will I get charged? I don't want to be charged for a defective phone. And what will I use for a phone in the mean time? How long does a repair usually take? Is my phone still gonna be ip68 certified after they open the phone? They won't factory reset my phone will they? I don't want to lose everything I have on the phone from a factory reset. At least if they gave me a new phone I can smart switch.
No charge of course if camera is faulty as result of manufacturing defect, then at a guess at least a week possibly longer before returning; another guess that the ip68 could be negatively affected; doubt it requires factory reset but having backup always recommended; not impossible but unlikely a new phone would be sent. That said, if you can bear the camera being the way it is then all is well.
Send it to Samsung directly for repair or stop by at one of their youbreakifix affiliated repair centers .

My Note 9 did the exact same thing. Sent to Samsung last Monday and they replaced the camera. It is replaced under warranty. Just make sure you have a backup phone because they are slow and offer no other option to prevent you from being phone-less.
Thanks everyone. I see they have a repair center here in Manhattan, I'll bring it there.
If you have a UBreakIFix store near you, go there! They use the same equipment as Samsung, have Samsung OEM parts, and it will still be IP68 when they repair it. Depending on the issue, it usually only takes them an hour or so. And since they are a Samsung official partner, it won't affect your warranty. My local store here is AWESOME. They fixed my son's Pixel XL for free since they are a Google partner as well. Highly, highly recommend.
i have the same exact problem and as i typed i just came from ubreakifix to pick up my phone and they assured me that ip68 still retain but i still have a very little doubt. but yes they got it fixrd really good.

Why do you doubt it retained it's IP68 rating?

I think best to just go to samsung care, or some samsung repair shop. S10 came out fairly recently, so separate parts being offered aren't likely, and neither is the individual repair going to be easy.

+1. Its a new device and an expensive one. You should not experiment with it. Most people break their devices by doing self repair. Better go to samsung care.

What they said. I've attempted repairs on phones/tablets and I've about a 50% success rate. IF and that's a big if, you actually find the lens, it very likely won't be an original part. Your possibly cheap self repair could end up costing half the price of a new phone.
I took your advice and contacted my local Samsung center which was around 35miles away from my home.
I visited yesterday morning and They repaired it for free of charge.
They said they had some offer on for the S10 range till the 4th April for repairs.
Took a hour and it was done.
They not only changed the lens but they changed the whole back and also the camera module (even tho the back and module wasn't affected)
So fantastic service never have I smashed a camera lens before I was shocked.
First time using Samsung care and they was brilliant.

Glad they were able to sort you out. Now be more careful!
Sent my phone to get its rear camera replacement, reputable company.
However, it's been over 2 weeks now. They've said that they need to take a camera from an existing phone to replace it. Because an OEM or replacement camera won't work as it needs to be pre-programmed.
I've never heard of this, and there are plenty of videos of S20's cameras being replaced with no mention of programming.
It just seems weird if they're lying or have made a mistake. Tempted to get my phone back and do the repair myself, but then if it actually does need programmed I'd be screwed.
