First, this is a general thread. Second, read and then read again. and then ask . Im not trying to be rude, cause we've all been there. If you have a dev edition, you can unlock your bootloader, but if you dont, the bootloader is not unlockable. Although there is a root method over in Original Development
ok but can u help me regarding this i live in india im not getting signal with gsm networks it never connects to the network can u help?

If you're on 4.4, start at the APN settings. Figure what those are for your carrier. Google it
i have correct settings it connects and immediately showing emergency only what could be the reason?
can i roll back to jellybean
I seriously hope you are trolling but in case you aren't...
Google the bands your network requires. Google the bands Verizon's MotoX has.
Google GSM developer editions bands.
Hopefully you can figure it out from here

Dude.... seriously.... read the threads....all your questions will be answered there. Otherwise, Google it.

No offence intended....but if you can't figure this stuff out from the threads in the dev section, then you may want to study more and learn this stuff a bit before doing anything. Trying these things when you don't understand it can lead to very bad times.

What could be the reason?
First let me start by saying, I've seen you post looking for help in several threads now. Unfortunately we don't use your carrier so there is a good chance none of us can help you resolve your specific issue. All we can do is give you the general tips that might help. That being said, the following sums up the MANY threads about using the Verizon Wireless (VZW) Moto X on a GSM carrier like ATT and T-Mobile in the USA and they should apply to you...
1. is your carrier CDMA or GSM?
If CDMA, the VZW X likely wont work with it no matter what you do as it supports the frequencies for 1xRTT/CDMA/EVDO that VZW uses which may differ from what your carrier uses, plus the authentication values needed for 1xRTT/CDMA/EVDO are hard coded to Verizon's settings and I haven't seen discussion to change these to non-Verizon settings like we could with older CDMA feature phones.
If GSM, since the VZW X is Sim unlocked, and supports quad band GSM/Edge 850/900/1800/1900Mhz, as long as your carrier uses those frequencies you have a chance of at least voice and EDGE data speeds. When it comes to HSPA or LTE data speeds, that depends on the frequencies your carrier uses vs what frequencies the VZW Moto X supports. Motorola.COM properly lists all the bands the VZW X supported when it first shipped. The Kit Kat Rom update has also added LTE Band 4 support to the VZW X, which I do not think is listed on Motorola's web page yet.
NOTE: if your carrier is GSM, you need to make sure you go into Settings -> Wireless & network settings (more..) -> Mobile Networks.. and enable roaming, and set the network mode to either Global or GSM/UMTS.
2. Do you have the right APN settings for your carrier?
In some cases, I've had the APN settings come down automatically when using a Non-VZW sim in my VZW Moto X and everything worked. Other cases, I had to manually input the APN settings before it would work and the "Emergency call only" status would go away. I also experienced even though I had entered the correct APN settings, MMS didn't work.
So its important you have the 100% correct APN settings, make sure you make no typographical errors when entering, and even then, there is a chance things might not work.
3. There is an apparent problem with voice/data LTE and such when using a GSM SIM. It impacts T-Mobile, but I haven't seen if it also impacts ATT (not likely due to ATT using different LTE bands the VZW X can't connect to). For more info, see this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578665 and start around post #14.
Finally... Can you roll back to Jellybean? This question has been covered many many times in other threads which is why you are getting "search" and "read" type responses.
For the Verizon Moto X there are 3 ROMs at this time...
Initial Shipping JB 4.2.2 ROM (Blur_Version.139.10.53.ghost_verizon.Verizon.en.US).
First OTA Update JB 4.2.2 with the Camera Update ROM (Blur_Version.139.15.1.ghost_verizon.Verizon.en.US),
KitKat 4.4 ROM (Blur_Version.140.45.5.ghost_verizon.Verizon.en.US).
If your phone is already using the "camera update rom" or Kit Kat rom, you can no longer flash the initial shipping JB rom, but you can flash the other two. There are threads discussing how to use RSDLite, or fastboot, to flash the ROMs if you need to know how.
NOTE: the "Blur_Version" in parenthesis denotes how they are listed on -> http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0 and When visiting SBF.Droid-Developers, when ever you are on the phone selection page be sure to pick the Moto X, not the Droid X!!!
If you are running Kit Kat now, you could try to flash back to the Camera Update rom and see if you have better luck.
And that is all I can offer. Sorry.
I'm contacted one of my Frnd who is pro in cdma programming in India after watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6rzB_FwE4A&feature=youtube_gdata_player he told me that Verizon Locked GSM radio on my Moto X he said that needs some root modification

Well, then I'm sure my experience of putting a T-Mobile USA and ATT USA (both GSM carrier) SIMs in my X, a and getting them to work using GSM/HSPA only, along with the experiences of the many others who did the same and posted about it, doesn't count since your "friend who is pro" and just watched a video determined the GSM side was locked.
No, the GSM Side of the Verizon USA Moto X is not SIM locked. If it was I could not put a Non-Verizon SIM in and make it work. And even if it was, I've never seen ROOT needed to SIM Unlock. The phone is sold by Verizon as a "Global Phone" meaning it supports at least quad band GSM/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) which are used around the globe. Now, if your carrier does't use those frequencies, it wont work.
As I said in my previous post there is what appears to be a bug or problem when using LTE with at least T-Mobile USA.. and pointed you to this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578665 and suggested you start reading at post #14... Please VISIT THAT THREAD AND READ THOSE COMMENTS!!!!!! it outlines the problem and a work around.
You mention troubles getting GSM bands in your original post, but now that you mention your friend and CDMA, I'll go back to what I posted. If your carrier uses CDMA, the VZW X wont work. But you haven't stated if your carrier uses CDMA or GSM, just that you can't get GSM Bands. If the SIM you are trying to use if from a carrier that only uses GSM Bands, that is one thing. But if the carrier uses CDMA its something else.

Did you read where I said there were 3 roms for the VZW X currently? What was ROM #2?? And I said that if you were on the Camera Update, or Kit Kat, you could flash either of those two roms, just not the initial shipping rom. So yes, if your phone is a Verizon Wireless USA Moto X, you can flash that as it is the #2 aka Camera Update rom.
Forgive me for sounding a bit frustrated, but I took the time to type that up, and you obviously didn't read it, nor did you give details of your carrier, what frequencies you were trying to use, etc.
Now, you mention that you have a "Frnd who is pro in cdma programming in India " then why not have him/her help you solve this?
I have the same bands in India my carrier support em there is no carrier or band issue the main point is my Frnd and my Old Verizon Moto X With GSM Working fine only mine not working !!that's why I'm worried even My droid Ultra Working fine with Indian GSM

I've been rocking a Droid Razr M for a while, epic phone!
But I've had my eye on the Moto X since I first heard about it... it just is a fantastic phone from all I've been reading and watching.
Problem is... I'm outside the states. I'm an European currently living in Bolivia.
I can easily get a Moto X same way I got my Razr M => Ebay! .. thing is.. will it work?
The Verizon Droid Razr M worked even before I unlocked it's bootloader etc.. will the Moto X ?
It should work no problem as long as you sim-unlock the phone. I'm using an AT&T Moto X in Canada and it works wonders.
Just make sure you get the correct phone either gsm or CDMA, of course it depends on what system carriers have in your particular country. I can verify that all gsm Roms ie T-Mobile and at&t work on my rogers gsm phone

oh thank you!
To be honest until very recently I didn't even knew there was diferent kinds of networks
all I knew was about diferent frequencies used in diferent contries, for example before coming to Bolivia I bought a Galaxy Ace 2 in Portugal, unlocked. To my surprise when I got to Bolivia it didn't work with 3g networks... just crappy slow 2g internet.
So.. at what Moto X's should I look at? I have no idea which companies use GSM or CDMA. Here in Bolivia it's GSM. (I'm 99% sure, as I had to GSM fix the rom's I installed on my Razr M.. Sorry for still being such a newbie, this is all pretty new to me)

Your Droid Razr M was likely a Verizon device (Any with the DROID in their name was due to Verizon licensing "Droid" from Lucas LTD). As such it was CDMA and LTE Band 13 (700MHz range). It also came with quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900) radio for global roaming. Not sure what "GSM FIX" you did, as Moto's web site says it also supports HSPA/UMTS on 850/900/1900/2100MHz.
The X supports the same, but adds support for faster HSPA+ on those same frequencies, and eventually will add LTE band 4 support with a future firmware update.
All Verizon LTE devices are SIM unlocked.
If you only got EDGE with the Razr M, you have a GSM carrier that uses other bands than the Verizon phones support. I'd look for the T-Mobile version of the X, or even the ATT over the Verizon version. From what I understand you can unlock the boot loader on the T-Mobile version. The ATT has a locked bootloader and is SIM locked too. I think the T-Mobile version is not SIM locked, but I could be wrong.
But without knowing what frequencies your carrier supports, its really hard to say.

The Razr M worked fine out of the box. I had to do a GSM fix for some of the Roms I installed.
It was with the Ace II that I only had EDGE.
You said something super there! All LTE Verizon phones are SIM unlocked? Is that for sure? so if I get a Moto X from Verizon, it's gonna work here for sure

Yes, their LTE phones are SIM unlocked. Its due to the rules around the 700mhz spectrum they got.
That being said, the latest update to my VZW Samsung Galaxy S4 changed it to that I now have to manually enter the T-Mobile APN settings when I put my T-Mobile USA sim in it. With the MDK and ME7 roms, the came down automatically. I'll have to try the X with the Tmo SIM in it if I get a chance later today to see if its manual or automatic.

Ok, I just tried... first some info... My Moto X is Stock 16gig from Verizon (not rooted, not a dev edition), with the latest OTA update Verizon pushed (that fixes camera). System Version: 139.15.1.ghost_verizon build 13.9.0Q2.x-116-MX-17-57-x-1. The phone is in "Global" mode, with global roaming settings enabled for all trips. The T-Mobile sim is from my Samsung Galaxy S3 T-Mobile USA (work device).
I powered off the X, removed my Verizon SIM, put in the T-Mo USA sim, and powered it up. The X notifies me "this sim is from an unknown provider." I got an Edge signal. I see T-Mobile on the lock screen. After a another power off/on, I get H+ using the T-Mobile SIM.
Data works - Tested via Chrome and visiting web sites. BB Messenger signs in as well.
SMS works - I sent an SMS from X to my Verizon iPhone 5s (other work phone), it was received fine on the iPhone and reported the T-Mobile phone number. Sent a SMS from my iPhone 5 to the T-Mo phone number, it was received fine on the X.
MMS works - Sent a picture taken on the X to my iP5s, and one from the my iP5s to the X. They were both sent/received just fine.
Calling works - Called my T-Mo USA number from my iP5s, and the X rang was able to answer and talk fine. Called iP5s number from the X, and call came in on my iP5s identified with my T-Mo USA number, was able to answer and talk fine.
All this works WITHOUT manually entering the APN settings on the X when the T-Mobile SIM is in there. But based on the VZW GS4, there is no guarantee the X will remain this way, and you may eventually have to manually enter your APN settings. The again, your wireless carrier may require you to manually enter the APN settings.. I don't know.

Thank you. It behaves like my Razr M did, I get a warning but then it all works anyway!
So even if something changes in the future it would be that I have to enter the Apn manually? this is Bolivia, there's no such thing as NOT entering the APN manually !! ahah =)
Wow that's super!
The Moto X is by far the best Android phone out there for me. I hate big phones... it's like a cancer on Android Flagships.
That's why I really like the Razr M, performance and small size (about the size of an iphone 5, for comparisson sake) and the Moto X aint that much bigger and comes with kickass OS from start.. I kinda had given up on owning one, now I can look into it again! =D
Thank you!

yes, I would think it should behave the same as the Razr M.
As for the future.. I do not expect Verizon to SIM lock (due to FCC rules), and the only change I've seen so far on my GS4 is now having to manually enter the APN settings... NOTE: now that I manually have to enter the APN settings on the GS4, sending/receiving MMS hasn't worked. So either I got a setting wrong, or something is missing. I've compared the APN settings between the X, Lumia 928 and GS4 when the T-Mo sim is in each, and they appear to be the same so I'm not sure why the GS4 doesn't work. But i you are manually entering your APN settings on the Razr M and its working, I'd expect the X to work no problem.
I have another question. It's pretty hard to get a Moto X safely here in Bolivia. I'll have to buy from ebay, and not only there's a chance that it gets "lost" during transport (not frequent, but can happen) but also the fact that corruption is HIIIIIIIGHHHH here and the customs guys love to basically rob foreigns... I had to drop a big bill when I imported my Razr M to release it from customs office.
So, to avoid all that I thought of something, I have a collegue in faculty whose from Canada and he's going to Canada for Xmas. He could get a Moto X there for me and bring it over with him safely. Question is, are Moto X's in Canada GSM compatible? if so which ones etc, what should I look for and what to avoid?

The Moto X is available in Canada only on Rogers and Fido and its the XT1058 version. While it has the same frequencies as the AT&T and a few others, it also allows you to unlock the bootloader via Moto's website.
Right now only the 16GB version is available in black or white.
A good comparison chart of all of the versions of the Moto X is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moto_X#Variants
Got my unlocked AT&T Moto X from eBay ; works just perfect in the Netherlands, w/o any further modifications.
Have your friend buy a Rogers/Fido Moto X in Canada. They are all XT1058s, same as the AT&T model however the bootloader can be unlocked and the phone can be sim unlocked easily for 8 bucks. They are also completely unbranded, no provider markings on the case or in the firmware.
If your friend is lucky he can find a dealer to sell him one for $450.00 cdn, (about 440.00 USD)

Edit: Most US carriers should sell them unlocked, confirmed for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. I've seen conflicting stories on Sprint. Verizon also may limit some other functionality like forwarding calls for Google Voice, but that's generally a US-only service. Republic Wireless may be locked as well.

Yes, according to description on eBay 'unlocked AT&T model'. Package was evidently opened, also on pics, for unlocking, as stated, otherwise unused, everything in original packaging, state, even protection folie on the phone.
After inserting my Dutch sim card started up w/o any problems!
And bonus; let it shipped as 'used item' (matter of fact is; package opened), so hadn't bothered customs office (pretty money hungry here in the Netherlands) neither..
Hello everyone,
First time signing up to XDA (I love this site). I've been waiting to buy a new phone for a while now. And I did have my eyes set on a Nexus 5. But I'm ultimately deciding to get a Moto X. Cause it would be the best for me at the moment due to pricing.
I plan on buying it on the extended Cyber Monday sale day(s) through MotoMaker, fully customized and so forth. And I was wondering if I buy the Verizon version of the Moto X. Will it be GSM Unlocked worldwide? I've seen threads and I'm not to clear on it. Do take note I do not live in the US but in the Caribbean. My carrier bands support GSM 850 and 1900 MHz frequency & HSPA+ 850MHz for mobile data. Just wanting to know if I can pop in my GSM sim and everything will work fine and dandy?
Or will I have to buy a carrier locked Moto X from either AT&T or T-Mobile from MotoMaker and buy an unlock code from an unlocking website?
(If this is my only option, do you suggest any unlocking website that would be best?)
Thank you for taking the time to read and help.
Have a nice day.

I don't know if the Verizon version will do GSM, I'd assume not. You also cannot unlock a Verizon Moto x unless it is the dev edition.
The T-Mobile one is the one that you can unlock for free on the motorola website, so if that is what you want, I'd suggest that.

via my slapped KIT KAT moto X
All Verizon 4G LTE phones are Sim unlocked. That includes the VZW Moto X. While you can put a non-Verizon GSM sim in there, the phone will tell you the sim is unsupported, and you'll need to enter your carrier's APN settings manually in order to get data, sms, and mms.
Per Moto's web site, the Verizon version supports...
GSM/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G UMTS/HSPA: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps (B5/B8/B2/B1)
LTE: 750Mhz (B13)... 700 Mhz Band 4 is supposed to be supported too.
IF your carrier is GSM and supports those bands, the VZW Moto X will work after you put the APN settings in manually.
That being said... since the Moto Maker Verizon Moto X has a locked boot loader, and supports CDMA bands that your GSM carrier likely wont use, I have to question why you would want the Verizon version of the phone.
The T-Mobile or GSM Developer Edition would be better suited for your needs if you have a GSM carrier. They are both SIM unlocked, and both can have their boot loaders unlocked. Unfortunately, if you buy the T-Mobile version unlocking the boot loader does void the warranty, where as unlocking the boot loader on the Dev Edition doesn't.
The ATT version is also an option as it supports two LTE bands which are not used in the USA. Not sure if those bands will be helpful for you or not. The ATT version also doesn't support HSPA on AWS(1700mhz) that T-Mobile uses in the USA, the boot loader can not be unlocked, and I believe it is sim locked out of the box. The only reason to go with the ATT version over the T-Mobile is IF you need those two LTE bands the ATT model has, that the T-Mobile model lacks, and your carrier doesn't do 3G on AWS(1700).
Thank you so much for your input. The reason I initially wanted to get the VZW X because I've read I would of been able to put my sim in and it would work. Defeating the purpose of buying an unlock code.
But I did not know Tmobile MotoMaker X comes sim unlocked.
I will customise and purchase the Tmobile version. You saved me. Really appreciated kind sir.

There is some additional info on the ATT version vs T-Mo version vs GSM DE version in this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546466
In short, similar to what I said, the T-Mo and GSM Dev Edition are the same, both SIM unlocked and unbranded, except unlocking the bootloader on the T-Mo version voids the warranty, where as it doesn't on the Dev Edition.
The ATT version is like the T-Mo version, EXCEPT it is sim locked, includes carrier branding and bloat, can not unlock the boot loader. While the ATT X includes LTE bands 5 & 7 (which are not used in USA), it lacks support for 1700mhz(aws) HSPA support which T-Mobile USA uses.

Ah thank you. I'll get the TMob X. My country is launching LTE this month, I'll contact asking which bands they are going to use. But I don't really mind for it. Thank you again KidJoe.

I put a T-mobile SIM in my stock 16GB Verizon Moto x. Here is what works and doesn't.
First off, 4G works! in the South Jersey area and it is Blistering fast, I have exceeded 40MB speed test downloads twice, Several in the high 30s and I am avg in mid 20s. Uploads are averaging 20+/- . Compared to Verizon this is like comparing Fios to 1999 era dial up. the best I ever got on Verizon 4G was 14 download but average between 4 and 9 !
The Network notification switches a lot between 4G, "H" mode, whatever that is, just bars and another which I didn't catch quick enough to read ?
Battery has been amazing compared to my galaxy Nexus, I got 7.5 hours of Actual "Screen on Time" which included some GPS use and an hour of music streaming total phone up time was 34+ hours. How long it will perform like this is anyone's guess, today i got about 6.5 of Screen on time. I hope this inst a trend
Now for the bad news - Using it as a Phone. Incoming calls are fine but, making outgoing is a Pain in the A$$.
When I dial a number, (which is a hassle on this KitKat dialer) it often goes to the home screen or back to the dialer. The Call Fails. I am not sure if my dialer is buggy or its a compatibility problem. the KitKat Dialer on the Moto X is an exorcise in futility. Google are you listening? Why reinvent the wheel. All I want in my Dialer is a Number Pad! and a phone book.
When I Open dialer I see Recent calls up top, the whole middle section says all contacts and is otherwise blank, the bottom has the number pad icon, History and settings dots.
Clicking the number pad icon enlarges the bottom section, which then goes all white and removes the three icons. I have to then click the back arrow and re-click the number pad icon to bring it up the actual dialer. .
At this time I can dial. and then the call always fails on the first attempt. Sometimes it takes several attempts to go through.
When I click send on the dialer the 4G disappears and I am left with just the bars. they come back when call is done but sometimes take a few minutes to do so.
If you Kill the dialer app or swipe it away, coming back to it you will have the same issues when trying to get the number pad (two attempts) if you dont, the number pad will open on first attempt. but the calls will still fail on the first try.
I also cant use the internet when in a call, whether WiFi is on or off. Is this a T-mobile problem? I could use the net in Verizon when in a call when on 4G or WiFi
The Data is set to global mode but I have tried both the other settings. On boot up I get a warning saying the SIM is not recognized which I just swipe away.
I am also having this problem. After making a call, the music player and the phones "volume" aspects cease to work., Meaning, I get no sound out of the phone, Music, notifications alarms etc.. This happens almost every time and the only fix is a reboot
I disabled all Verizon Bloat and a lot of Moto Bloat as well This could be causing some of the bugs? But i have tested several different configurations all with the same outcomes.
Hope this helps and puts an end to the - Will it work or not questions. There seem to be a lot of Net Know it all's that flat out say a Verizon Moto x wont work with a T-Mobile SIM or some other undocumented "fact"
Nice insight, sure it will be useful for those who need it. But I've had the phone since late November.

When the 1st Gen Moto X came out I was stationed in Germany but thanks to the fact that it was quad band it would work on all European networks (and it worked on the networks I was able to test it on). And the 1st Gen Moto X from VZW wasn't even region unlocked.
The Pure Edition covers all the same frequencies and bands that VZW covers except Band 13 which is exclusive to Verizon. As a junior/budding developer and cell phone junkie I would really love the opportunity to play with a bootloader unlocked edition to truly take advantage of all the possibilities of the phone.
Has anyone tried this yet?
Does anyone live in the RVA area, own a Pure Edition Moto X and be willing to try this with my SIM card?

Verizon controls which phones can be activated on their network. I don't think they will let you activate a Pure Edition phone.

In another month or 2, you'll be able to make phone calls on VoLTE.
There is a VZW thread in the General section - and a poster there has 2 phones - VZW and Pure - I asked him to try the active VZW sim in the Pure phone and give us a report. I read a report elsewhere of someone who used a VZW sim in a non-VZW iphone 6 and was able to use data, and make phone calls on VoLTE (iPhone already has VoLTE on VZW).
For what it is worth - VZW has historically only controlled what phones are activated on their CDMA network. The Nexus 7 2013 LTE was delayed on the VZW network because the network couldn't activate the sim because the N7 didn't have CDMA, it was LTE only. But while VZW was sorting that out, you could take an active VZW sim and put it in the N7 and it worked fine on the LTE bands. VZW did finally update their network, and the N7 was able to activate a sim card on VZW LTE. I don't know what effect that will have on VZW being able to regulate LTE devices - but given the results of the Iphone 6 I described above, I suspect that VZW still is unable to regulate an LTE device once a VZW sim is active.

Wouldn't this only be possible with a firmware update? So if the Pure Edition software doesn't support it, then no phone calls for you.

Yes, I think that would be right. Would probably be pretty easy for someone who knew what they were doing to port the VoLTE firmware from a VZW phone to a Pure phone - that's the great thing about being able to root/bootloader unlock, right
In the other General thread, the guy with both phones just said that he couldn't get data to work with a vzw sim in a Pure phone - so the question may be moot. Don't know if it is incompatibility with the particular LTE band where he is, or bad APN settings, or if VZW really is able to restrict their LTE network to a particular class of device (the fact the the iPhone can do it makes be doubt the restriction answer).

Thank you for the information, I don't know how I overlooked that thread.
My plan was to take my existing activated VZW SIM in my 1st Gen X and drop it into the 2nd Gen X, as long as the SIM is active I am good to go. But if he is confirming that the Pure Edition does not support a VZW SIM then like you said it is moot. The next thing to wait for is the VoLTE network to open up.
Additional thoughts: What about the Qualcomm software 'fix' to open up additional bands?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269
I think once the additional bands are opened on the Pure edition, it may work. For now, only 2 of the 5 VZW bands are supported on the Pure edition. Pretty bad odds to have coverage.

Any update? Would love to update my 2013 Moto X and simply swap SIM to keep unlimited data
Hi,
I got Moto X ( FCC ID: IHDT56PA2 from the box, which means its XT1053 model for unlocked GSM US version-retail, sold by Moto),it can be used with TMob. and ATT.
I was planning to use it in Canada on Wind Mobile, AWS bands 1700, and 2100. So far everything is theoretically OK, bands are there, BUT after plugging Sim from Wind phone does not recognizes the Wind network...maybe this is not what the box said??? How can I check exact model...it looks to me that maybe its xt1058 which does not have band 1700.
In menus About Phone I find : model Moto X only, Baseband version MSM8960PRO_BP_2323.038.123.00R, Kitkat 4.4.3 but nothing about exact model
Please help! It looks like I have to return it on Ebay...what other options do I have ?/

Thank you very much , it is so simple .......so I have xt1053, now it has 1700,2100 mhz (aws ? I presume) but it still does not work on my provider in Canada, Wind Mobile.
Today I visited another store of Wind M. and was told that to them it looks like phone works with their SIM only in 2g which is reserved for Wind Roaming only. When I go to Settings-Mobile Networks-Preferred Network Type: I get only 2options :Automatic (ticked) and 2G not indicated. Is it the same on yours XT-1053
On my Galaxy s2x I get different choices such as:GSM/HSPA (Auto), GSM only , HSPA only so my phone which is pentaband works perfect. Here I dont have an option to forced it to work on HSPA only.
Any suggestions ??

Before you worry about rooting or anything drastic I suggest you take the situation one step at a time:
- Forget data, do you have cell signal? if no, check sim.
- Is your APN setting correct for your network? check Settings->Wireless & Networks More->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names
- To set HSPA only you're going to have to use the "Phone Info" screen. Normally to get that screen you'd dial *#*#4636#*#* but that doesn't work so you need a workaround. if you have a third party launcher or if you have the app called Anycut you can create an activity shortcut to Phone Info on your home screen. Another option is to use apps that open the Phone Info for you, and that's all they do. I use the app called Radio Switcher.
- Once you're in Phone Info screen be careful not to touch anything except the option that says "Set preferred network type:" and select WCDMA Only.
- This setting might not normally stick upon reboot. For my experimentation and success in making it stick upon reboot see my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55810041&postcount=11
And BTW the back of your phone should have the model number near the bottom, it's just hard to see because they imprinted it to look invisible when looking straight at it. Just twist and turn and hold it so the light catches it just right to make it easy to see.
Gentlemen and especially dtg7,
Thank You very much for your help, Radio Switcher works beautifully with my XT1053 ...WCDMA Only sticks even after reboot, perfect...now only how to get rid of that notification about available update to kitkat 4.4.4. Disabling update will probably require root, but here's one thing you can try without root. In Settings->Apps->All find the app MotorolaOTA and open it's settings. Then just uncheck the "show notifications" box.
With root though, that has already been discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/apps-to-block-ota-rooted-moto-x-t2714410
but before that you'd have to root your phone. to do that you and being on 4.4.3 you have two options:
1) unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery, then flash superSU. details are abundantly available. important thing to note is unless you have the Developer Edition you'll lose any warranty you had. if you don't want to lose warranty you have option two.
2) use TowelPieRoot method. this is an exploit that can be done on a locked bootloader so your warranty would be fine. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/root-towelpieroot-motorola-devices-t2825059
If you do decide to root, whichever method you use, make sure to return your phone to stock condition before trying to take future updates, like the one to Lollipop. For method one that means flashing back stock recovery. For method two I believe the towelpieroot app comes with an uninstall option. For the OTA disabling that means undoing whatever you did.
FYI I did take the 4.4.4 update and I can confirm battery did take a hit. Going from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3 battery gained a lot it seemed, visibly so. The first few days of 4.4.4 were pretty bad. After clearing device cache and after a few days it became more reasonable but still seemed less than 4.4.3. Other than that have had no problems with 4.4.4.
Why did I take 4.4.4 well for one it's a security update, nothing changed from 4.4.3 except a fix for security issues. second, my guess was we won't have to wait long for lollipop after Nov 3. time will tell if that's correct.
Thankq

Hey thanks its there my model no..
Thinking of getting the Moto X pure edition. For Verizon. Is this an unlock version like dev version of the phone? and theres a selection for unlock sim choice. Does that mean I can take it to any carrier? Thanks for any reply in advance.
1. It is carrier unlocked, but not boot loader unlocked. You can request a code from moto for that.
2. When I ordered my pure edition, the only option I saw was a T-Mobile Sim, though I've heard others say they got a different Sims installed.
3. I don't know how many carriers the PE works on, but it's more than just T-Mobile. And as for Verizon, I don't know, sorry.

I would ask someone who has Verizon to let you use their SIM card to see what service you get. Band 4 is VZW's "XLTE" band, which the PE supports. You won't get band 13, since the PE lacks that hardware. You might be able to pick band 4 though.
Unlikely that Verizon would activate a Pure on their network, so while you might get some LTE data you'll never have voice calling.

why does it have to be on Verizon?
I'm using my Pure Edition (XT1095) with Straight Talk (AT&T compatible SIM) with no issues and it gets about 15-20 MBs down with LTE within a 60-70 mile radius for me. I get good coverage and not have to deal with BS contracts.

This.
Verizon's network isn't like GSM networks where you can just pop your SIM in practically any phone and be done with it. They have to physically activate the phone on their network, and they won't if it's not their device. Your options are to either get a Verizon branded Moto X, or use the Pure on AT&T, TMo, or one of the many GSM MVNOs.
