I'm going to root my wilfire(with stock rom) and I want to overclock it. I know I've to flash an O/C kernel but the only o/c kernel (that I could find) is HCDR.Kernel and it has a bug! "Wi-Fi doesn't work with HTC Sense 2.2 ROMs!"
I don't want to lose my Wi-fi !!!
Is there any other o/c kernel available?
nope i dont think there is another o/c kernel for wildfire..
too bad....
hi
have tried the Danne's 0055_oc_kernel_2.6.32_v8(from HCDR.Jacob's kernel) ?

I'm using this kernel with wildpuzzle rom (froyo 2.2) and wi-fi works fine. I don't know why kernel has this bug. This is (probably) because wi-fi hotspot don't work correct but wi-fi connection works very well. So you can try this kernel and if something will not work, you can flash other kernel.

Wish I had read this before I flashed the latest WildPuzzle and went through all the setup. I I had know I would have rebooted and updated to hcdr.kernel right away.
Might try this next time I flash the device.
Looks like you can only overclock with that kernel and not the one that now comes with WildPuzzle?

The default one that comes with WildPuzzle is not overclock enabled. However, danne provides the overclocked kernel (Which is actually HDCR Kernel), in his thread as well.
Check this in the WildPuzzle Thread:
0130_kernel_overclock_jacob_2.6.32_v1.zip
BTW, You dont lose anything when you flash a kernel, so, you can just flash it over the existing WildPuzzle ROM. A backup is recommended incase your phone is unable to boot with the overclocked kernel (This has been reported by a few people)

Brilliant, I will give it a go. Thanks!
Will be good to find out how the wifi works and if hotspot/tethering works.
Mainly I just want to get it up to 691 MHz for games.

wifi hotspot wont work with kernal made by jacob.
WiFi does work, but, theres a bug with WiFi Hotspot. It doesnt work. You will be able to setup a hotspot, but, no device will be able to connect to it, even if it is unsecured.
EDIT: Got Ninja'ed.
Thanks xda Ninjas
Well, this is surely interesting. The kernel linked from wildpuzzle thread, even if it's still jacob's, works! I mean, even the wifi hotspot. So you have an OC kernel with all functionality in place. Give it a try.
What I don't understand is why the original jacob's one doesn't work.
The one linked in wild puzzle is just jacobs packaged up. The wifi hotspot does not work as yet.

Wifi works at my wildpuzzle phone with Jacobs OC kernel. But the Wifi hotspot is not working.
Maybe it's a combination of ROM and kernel.. I'm using dk one and with wildpuzzle ker all works, hotspot included.

It's sad to watch all these new ROM'S and kernel's here knowing you can't have them because u can't unlock your bootloader....
And ROM'S compactible with stock kernel are sometimes(70% of time)slow.
I've realized that now aftee getting motherboard with date number 12W03
Now I know how it feels...to be limited :'(
Don't think I am complaining because I'm not,I just want to bring back a little development for stock kernel to show us,stock kernel users that we are not forgotten.
With this thread I am asking someone of you developers to make really lightweight, smooth ROM.
I know you are busy with developing for nAa or some other kernel but I think that other stock kernel user, will agree with me.
Sorry for your time and thanks for reading this!
Please don't tell that there are already plenty of good ROM'S for stock kernel user because there are not...no offense....I a just saying that most of them are slow and laggy
GDX ain't slow on stock kernel

Well, stock is ungrateful and painful in development. I don't like to re-stock 50 times, root 50 times, put recovery etc. and still don't know what's going on because logcat doesn't even start. So I wouldn't expect so many ROMs.
And hey, it's 2013 adn X8 was released in 2010 so it's like using Celeron 433 MHz now

I don't know what you mean by lightweight. GingerDX is pretty standard when it comes to the apps that come with it. Besides anything you don't like can just be uninstalled using Titanium Backup.

Hello I am looking for a Rom that will not freeze up. A stable and fast Rom and Kernel combo. My father is 70 and when it freezes up on him you can imagine the distress and 20 phone calls i receive from him. Please can someone advice on the most stable rom there is on xda for the i9000. I am more concerned about stability than speed. Altho a bit of both would be nice. Even if I could have one with the latest firmware and still be stable would be a bonus. But i do understand the limits with the hardware and porting issues.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

semaphore kernel one of the best kernel for sgs, and im using it as u can see in my sign. but because its for your father i prefer to stay with stock, or you can use semaphore its v.stable but don't use live oc because its phone independent and may cause soft reboot
I installed it and wow its fast. Also how nice is CM10. I slapped gapps on top to cos he uses gmail play etc. I can't believe I have never bothered with AOSP Roms before. It's going on my i9300 tonight. Stunning! Thanks again for your help.

I think both has it's plus and minus. If you just want to stick with a custom Rom, then it's ok to be with ICS. JB comes in terms of more features that doesn't exist in ICS. I will rather use JB because of the dreaded ICS EMMC Brick

If you don't undervolt then your phone will get too hot / use too much battery when overclocking (going to 1.6). It's best to test how high you can undervolt your phone before it starts to lag / freeze to find the optimal level of undervolting (e.g. my phone freezes at 40mv because of touchboost). If your phone refuses to boot after overclocking / undervolting then you can flash AGNi_reset_oc-uv_on_boot_failure.zip (found in /sdcard) to fix it.
