Do you use some kind of apps to kill running applications? Or you think that you don't need that and you have enough battery for a day?
Sent from my C6903 using xda premium
I don't bother, I've had no problems with battery life. I usually go 1.5d on a charge.
On healthy Android you should not use any Task Killer because is not needed and it's not a good solution but sometime I used Task Killer because my cooked Android didn't do well his job so I tried to help.
its usually a bad thing to use a task killer because android will have to restart alot of those services it kills which burns more battery than it saves.

Each app has a set criteria and if you use an app killer then you are wasting your time because the app will simply restart when the app's criteria is met again.
Your best bet is to use apps like autostarts or greenify or both, as they will alter the set criteria and will actually save battery.
Been using autostarts for years, you'd be surprised to see what starts up and when.
Avoid active task killers like the plague they're all crap.
I was using autostarts on my X10, but I was rooted then and now I'm not rooted, so I will look up greenify

I have been using Qualcomm Snapdragon BatteryGuru since I last flashed 290. It's a bit vague about what it does (other than give you charge reminders and control some background data for some apps), but I can easily stretch a charge into 2d if I want to. Obviously, heavy use still tops out around 18h, but it does seem to make some improvements. Wish I knew more about what it was doing, though.

Does anyone use the task manager that comes default on droid 3? Anyone just use advanced task killer? Just wondering because the one that comes default has an auto kill list and wondering if thats safe to use with all the roms that get rid of some bloatware and all the changes that modify our phones. just want some of your thoughts/opinions. Thank you

Doh delete me..
Huh?

This is a perfectly reasonable question to ask. A BUILT IN task manager on our phone? New roms and modifications --> more development in the future--> can lead to problems. Just want peoples thoughts and opinions on what they use, if this is safe etc. If you dont like this post or think its stupid then you dont reply its that simple.

It is a good question. I was under the impression that all task killers were bad. From reading other forums I came to the conclusion that android should be left alone to manage tasks on its own, and killing tasks would just cause android to restart them, which would end up causing more cpu and lead to worse battery life.
I have never tested it myself, though.

Android manages RAM on its own efficiently since 2.2. Task killers actually cause more battery loss and cpu strain as stated above.

If you want to improve it all you got to do if you are rooted is to download Autokiller and set a higher preset. I like Strict.

I have set my Facebook refresh rate to never, always have done. I've noticed lately, the Last couple of Facebook app updates, after you update the app, the refresh rate is set to 1 hour!!
This is just a heads up for people with poor battery life, as I believe this app is one of the biggest power suckers!! (not counting the screen)

It also seems to re-enable notifications you might have turned off previously. I have the refresh to 1 hour anyway so didn't notice this

Facebook always resets to the default settings after an update, its been this way ever since I can remember as I too always have to turn off notifications again after every update.

I've only ever had it happen recently (ie, last few updates). Previously it left them alone
my facebook app is a ****ing idiot, no matter how many times I reflash to a clean rom, delete data, change kernel the wakelock is stupidly bad, keeps my phone awake for 4 hours. When I close the facebook application I want it to close for good.

You can do what you want but using those things kills battery life.
Same thing with gmail..weather widgets..etc.
Keep them on auto and your battery life will be low.

So shouldn't there be a better implementation of the push updates? What's the big problem isn't even that, it's the damn wakelocks and there implementation, I hope This isn't really a good fix no offence to the applications maker I mean I can see where it'd come in handy. But greenifiying everything in sight is not a solution.
I don't know what you guys are doing but none of the apps (Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) drain battery life for me and they are all set to update automatically. Facebook app hardly uses any battery so long as you close it in recent apps once you've done using it

Although Facebook doesn't show up as using a lot of battery in the stock Android battery stats, I think this is misleading. I use betterbatterystats, and even when not using Facebook, it shows up as causing a lot of Android alarm wakeups, even with notifications completely disabled. For this reason, I freeze the app with titanium backup when not using it.

Guys, do you keep your power saver ON the whole time? Cause I'm doing that. It seems to improve my battery life. My phones battery last more than a day, and while it's ON, I don't see any slow downs or lag which is good. I think it's better to leave it On the whole time. What do you think? Thanks!
I'm keeping Power Save ON always either. The options I've ticked there are the ones for CPU underclock and Data Management. For a week or so I've tried Power Saver combined with Snapdragon BatteryGuru but it didn't improved the battery life which I already was able to achieve so I've uninstalled it. Now I have installed Wi-Fi Matic and Smart Profiles (Free) with Power Save ON and I get the best battery autonomy.
Nope as long sleep mode im good

So it's better to leave it ON right? Will the notifications be delayed or the screen will slow down? What do you guys think I should do, leave it ON, or just when the battery is getting low then i'll ON it?

Leave it on. The slow down is barely noticeable, and it'll get you some extra time before the phone needs to be charged.
Personally, I only tick the cpu box.

There's no downside to leaving it on. 1.1GHz is plenty for most everything to run perfectly smoothly and it doesn't affect the GPU so gaming remains excellent. Personally I don't find it hugely useful (maybe an extra hour with my use) but it sure doesn't hurt anything

what do you mean not useful? It is actually. hehe. I mean it gives me more battery life. Do you keep yours ON all the time too?
I've found another great app for battery saving, which switch on/off data connections smarter than Power Saver. I'm talking about GreenPower Free Battery Saver / GreenPower Premium. I hope this helps you. It helped me.

Like I said, with my usage I only get about another hour, and yes that's with it on the whole time. I don't doubt that the way others use their phone could make it have a larger effect (I'm jealous of these people ) , but for me 1hr doesn't cross into the "useful" category.

Forcing the CPU to under clock won't affect your performance but potentially greatly improve battery life, so why not.

Why use resources to manage resources. Fix the problem. Don't use a band aid to stop the bleeding.
If your phones rooted use greenyfy, it's very helpful, if it's not use an app called fast reboot, it frees your ram memory being used by other apps and saves you battery, you can use both too
Greenify

I second the use of Greenify. No other app I've ever used has been more beneficial to battery savings than Greenify. Saves on data as well since the "call home" programs can be hibernated.
As the Dev of my current ROM (megalomanic14) explains in comical detail:
megalomanic14 said:
...it allows you to have pretty much any user app installed and not constantly run which 90% of all apps do run either data checks, network check, wakelocks, ect greenify says whoa now little guy you just take a nap until it's time to play ball lol

If you are having battery drain issues most likely its an app causing it . Adding juice defender will not make anything better. Use greenify if any at all . I dont understand why you are trying to improve your battery life when the Note 4 battery life is like a nuclear reactor . Even with moderate use I am charging my battery every other day.
Any tips that you guys recommend? Perhaps a tool that identifies the resource-intensive processes?
It's pretty fast 95% of the time but just wondering

Apps that you downloaded, but don't use them, just remove. Get good quality apps from reputable source/brand. Your phone should let you know if the app is using more resources. Restart your device at least once a week to free up some RAM. In the settings, on the battery screen you will be able to see if an app or hardware is using % of battery.
