Hi folks,
Could someone please clarify something before I start obtaining the root magic.
Is there a stock O2 RUU around anywhere in case I need to revert back?
I have found an O2 OTA update, but not sure how this would work with regards to returning to stock. File is only 230mb.
If I created a nandroid back up (usually do) first, would this suffice?

Hmm don't know, I am not from the UK but since that's a pretty common carrier chances are there is a RUU for O2. Wait for someone local to comment here, then we'll know for sure.
Sent from my HTC One
Thanks Jvov.
Fingers crossed.
I've looked every where for RUU but cant find one, the only option is nandroid - referanced

Hi,
I don't think this is in the right place but i am unable to post under the developers area for assistance and everyone has told me this is the best place to get some help.
I am looking to get rid of my root for my HTC One on an O2 network and I think i need to get the boot loader locked which i can do then run a RUU file that matches my phone. The RUU's i have run seem to be the wrong ones and i am at a loss to which one i should be using, when i go through the steps it says that my version is 1.27.206.1 does this mean i need to find the version that is O2 and 1.27.206.1 for it to work?
I have also tried an OTA but this just stops at the boot loader screen and i think this is because some of the stock apps are wipe. Any help would be much appreciated.
Rich
You do need that RUU but it isnt available yet.

Thanks for the very quick response, ok that narrows it down quite a bit, would you happen to know which RUU i would be looking for when it does come out? will it be a specific O2 RUU for the version 1.27.206.1? Also where would i check for it once its released?
Is their anyway around the OTA update to remove the Root atm?

You would need an ruu that has the same software or newer than yours. The key bit would be the .206 section. There is an RUU thread here. You could flash one of the stock nandroid backups in the RUU thread. Add the apps back. There is a .zip somewhere then remove the stock recovery and flash the ota.

I would but I'm on my phone using tapatalk so I can't really at the moment sorry. The ruu thread is on this part of the forum though. And the other bit should be in the dev section.
Ok, no worries, i have downloaded the UK Nandroid rom and flashed it to my device but i still have everything on my phone like games that i had before flashing it which is a little odd.
i have also found the stock apps from a post on here like you said and have them all installed on the phone. Could someone explain the next steps please,
why dont you just use the unroot in the superuser apps? SuperSU has the option.
also solloris
Hi, i have tried this option but when the phone reboots the application is back and the bootloader is still showing as Tampered.
I recently rooted my HTC one and a week later my top speaker crackles. I need to send it to Telstra but I need to remove the root. I've looked all over the place and I can't seem to find a ruu or even a nandroid. If some one could point me in the direction it will be greatly appreciated. Also will a nandroid work to unroot? Or do I need a ruu?

You can find the stock ruu at this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752
A nandroid of the original ROM will suffice, especially if you booted the bootloader and took the backup rather than flashing it.
If not, most bootloaders of the same primary version are equivalent.
What was your original software version?
fastboot getvar version-main
Or is that main-version?
Sorry I'm still kinda new to all of this. I used a recovery to root the phone ( team win) but I made the stupid mistake of not making a nandroid before hand. I need to make it look like I never rooted this phone so HTC can replace it. If I can't find something I might just "drop" it in water since I have insurance.

I did but I need a Telstra stock ruu. So I can unroot it.
The boot loader will say re-locked even if you flash your RUU, isn't that correct?

It depends if you're lucky or unlucky. I've heard of some that get their warranties applied, but also some where they got rejected. No harm trying, you'll get your phone back anyway

I believe that was an OTA and no RUU was released - but, look at the second post on this (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=114440&page_no=145) page.. user has posted a stock/unrooted backup image that you should be able to restore, and has also posted the stock recovery you'll need as well.

Thanks for your help but I fully rooted the phone and installed the Android Revolution ROM. Much better than stock. My only concern is when trying to use apps that do not work on rooted apps. Have hide my root on my phone and Transformer Prime and am not sure if it works. Does anyone have any other root hiding app suggestions?
Hi,
I'm looking for a completely stock HTC One ROM with no bloatware or carrier branding. I can't seem to find a good one on the forums. Could someone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks

Forum rules prevent us from making recommendations on ROMs. Just go over to the Development Section and start reading the first post of each ROM. When you find one that you like then flash it and try it out. That is the sure way to know!

if you can get s-off, then why not just use an unbranded stock rom, very easy to do once you got s-off and will come with no bloatware or branding, doesn't get anymore stock or faultless than that, plus you'll get OTA's and still beable to root it, just like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54865512&postcount=8

lol the one I linked is unbranded stock, you just need to follow those instructions and be s-off
you can do it that way for dev edition which will get you the fastest OTA's when available or for HTC Europe WWE generic unbranded:
Change cid to HTC__001 (always 8 characters)
Change MID to PN0710000 using this tool in a custom recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2535365
download this firmware, put your phone into RUU mode and don't forget to flash it twice: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407574029
download this RUU and run it with your phone in fastboot USB mode: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...0-38r-1157-04l_release_353069_signed_2-1-exe/
either way you will need to be s-off
Quick question before I start doing this; do I HAVE TO unlock the boot loader or can I do it straight away?

you HAVE TO unlock the bootloader in order to flash or use a custom recovery so you can use the tool to change your MID, you also HAVE TO BE S-OFF.
