Hey S4A folks,
Haven't been in recently except now that there's news of 4.3 coming out, I've been reading up on it as, to date, I cannot download it yet.
I used Active root on MF3 when I first got the phone but have unrooted since. Here's the odd thing, tho...
The other day, my phone made a long tone/vibration. When I pulled it out of my pocket, the screen said Samsung on the top, on the bottom was a lock icon that could not be moved, and the word "Custom" was either above or below the lock, but I forget which.
I'd never seen that on any Galaxy phone I had and was wondering if anyone knew what it was.
Thanks.

FYI it happened again this afternoon and then my phone rebooted.
Anyone else getting this type of behavior?

No idea what causes it but I get it sometimes too. It happens on my phone once every 3 weeks or so..... it's strange.
Im on Perseus kernel.
thanks for replying. i am on stock kernal. is this relate to crt off animation?
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
To be honest I have absolutely no idea what it relates to. It happens so infrequently to me I haven't ever been bothered by it or tried to figure out what it was.

I get this as well, and I'm on completly stock and unrooted so I wouldn't worry about. I thought it was just because I used widget locker but obviously not.

Same here! This morning for the first time.
Completely stock phone, XELLA H3G. I bought it 2 months ago
Strange
It happened to me too for 3/4 times over last few months. My I9300 S3 is close to its 7th month. I can tell that thing had not happened until last few months. I have crt-off.
I used my i9305 for about 8 weeks and saw the blue (and sometimes green) screen sometimes for just a sec when i unlock the screen.
Unfortunately this handset died on monday afternoon. Hope this is only a bad coincidence.
Hi,
Don't worry about that....See a Blue screen can give a bad feeling (mainly to Windows user...)
But nothing to compare with BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) you can get when Windows crash

Completely dead. No boot, no download mode, no recovery. Had to bring it to my service provider, but they change it without any problems. Hope I will get the new one back today.
Other two times today...first yesterday.
Hoping this will not be a new strange issue causing SoSD or similar!
Atm no other strange problems
I'm on XELLA (H3G)
Handset bought on Dec 21
The galaxy active s4 keeps turning off randomly in my friends pocket. I'm not sure if there is an issue with the phone or maybe it's user error. If anyone has any ideas or similar issues I would really appreciate some input.

Does this happen only in his pocket? If it is it might be that he is somehow bumping into the power button. I know my phone does that sometimes, thought not often enough to be an issue.
Yeah it is in his pocket from what he said. But it seems to be happening far to much. Also, do you ever have any signal problems with it?

Mine does the exact same thing. I found that it's due to the power button getting pressed and held down, it reboots the phone after around 10 seconds or so.
Oh and I have signal issues but that's due to my cell phone provider. When I was in Hawai'i using T-Mobile it was pretty much amazing.
Thanks for all the answers guys. I appreciate it.

been having the same issues since day 1, when I first got mine it wouldn't hold a charge, it wouldn't stay on even when it was plugged in, and it would hang during charging, usually sitting around 78-77 percent, unless plugged into an AC adapter.
Earlier, when I pulled the battery, to check the IMEI or something, I popped it back in and turn the phone on, only to find I have 3% battery left? It was at ~60 when I pulled it, it was only out for about 30 seconds and the phone was only off for about 2 minutes, if that.
Is there a Clockwork Mod Recovery out for the N900a yet?
Dude, dont we wish!!!!! Ive been checking on here daily myself.... Cant wait!! I get my note 3 wednesday and I'm hoping for a bootloader miracle!!!!

i honestly just dont see a need to flash roms anymore. android has just has gotten that good. i can see some people needing root which we have. but flashing roms is long gone for atleast me. just tired of it i guess.

1 word: Nandroid
I went through 3 different Note 3s because of various quality control issues and the ability to make a nandroid would have been amazing since I had to setup everything 4 times after rooting 2 different phones. Other than that, I don't really care too much about custom roms, unless they offer some benefit in addition to the Xposed framework modules and debloating I did.

The first N3 kept an Edge data signal most of the time and would never lock onto and LTE signal for more than 10 seconds. The second one, and about 6 others I looked at in the store, had issues with the home button getting stuck under the glass. It was just during regular use, not trying to force it. If I tapped on the button off-center, it would get stuck under the glass, and constantly make the task manager pop up. The manager tried to call my bluff until she repeated the same when using the phone normally, instead of holding it horizontally and letting the weight of the phone release the button each time. I felt like it was back in the Hot Wheels days of searching for Treasure Hunts. I got one that doesn't seem to have any issues so far, aside from my E-mail FC, but I'll figure that out.

Good to know. I'm not too fond of the home button swimming around. I'm having mic issues. I have to hold it to my mouth for the phone to register.

Bottom line is there is no custom recovery and from what I understand there won't be unless the boot loader gets unlocked.

You can get n900a-cwm-recovery.tar from: http://d-h.st/mVG
However, bootloader of N900A is locked. You cannot flash it with Odin.
What we expect is Unlock bootloader.
I thought this was the only phase it would follow, if I say okay only, it opens the search...or just okay google. Maybe google now? it is becoming a problem as my phone was on this morning on something searched I had not as it was on charger all night. Was randomly popping up seaches yesterday too. Anyone have this issue and know a way of resolving it? Makes me afraid for USC to get the 4.4 update...Thanks in advance.

Ever since camera update and gnow update to take OK Google from search results my motox has been super sensitive. It will go off from nearly anything. 4.4 root.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Ever since I took the I 4.4 ota from Verizon. The touchless control has also been crazy sensitive too. It goes off all the time and I don't know until she says 'the command canceled'. Not sure it a factory reset would fix it but haven't been willing to try that yet. Any ideas what else might fix it from being more sensitive?
Not sure what to do but its terrible for me too on 4.4. I'm going to have to turn it off. Keeps going off all the time.

I've been having the same problem, phone will be in my pocket or on my desk and I will randomly hear "command canceled"
Its very annoying and happens several times a day, and nothing even close to "OK Google" is being said.
Seems to be a fairly common problem so hopefully a fix is in the works

Try retaining the okay Google now command. It's important to do it in a quiet room and hold your phone at arms length.

I have read other posts here claiming that saying the training phrase more slowly helped with it accidentally turning on.
(I've had no problems myself, still on 4.2.2 with the camera update)

I've had it turn on watching a trailer for a movie. Restarted the trailer and it popped up again in same spot.

I've only had one "accidental" fire...
That's in quotes for a reason... My son and I were cooking on thanksgiving... My phone was in my pocket... His nexus 7 was displaying the recipe on the counter...
When the pie went in the oven...
"OK Google, set alarm for 30 minutes"
Nexus acknowledged the command and I told my son to come get me when the Alarm went off.
Obviously, he didn't need to... My phone's alarm also went off.

That's the odd thing, mine worked perfectly on 4.2.2 as well but ever since the upgrade to 4.4 it goes off randomly.
Of course I've tried retraining the phrase several times but it seems to make no difference.
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
Yeah that is what's strange cuz I'm on 4.2.2 obviously since US Cellular hasn't got 4.4 yet. Even completely stock besides unlocked boot loader. Have used FXZ's in past week or two in order to lose root. Wondering if I should try a data and cache wipe. Not sure but today was actually pretty good without random searches.

Does anyone know what this notification means? It usually flashes then goes away quickly but this time it stayed for a longer period of time. Also, my phone has been freezing a lot lately and has delayed haptic feedback at times, I wonder if this has anything to do with it?
I unrooted a while back and I'm on stock Rom with s-off

I think it's something related to to mobile network. On mine appears only during calls.
I've noticed it sometimes just before a text comes in.

I've think that I discovered what means when enabled Extreme Power Saving.
It means Background Data Restricted.
