I already unlocked the phone with dreamspark, but when I open NSS Pro v0.48 it doesnt get anything. I have installed Nokia Care Suite and all the drivers but it always says phone not found. I am using a Nokia Cable in the Lumia.
I doubt NSS 0.48 can communicate with WP8 devices... I don't actually know if *any* version can, but surely you'd want to use the most up-to-date one?
for which reason you need NSS on WP8 phone???
for flashing phone you need NCS or NSU for retail, not NSS
Just trying to get another rom, but I think I don't. Never really liked WP or Nokia new phones. I already have NCS.
Thank you.

Hello I have a Nokia 521 Lumia for T-Mobile and for some reason the phone bootloops when plugged into a charger. I am very familiar with restoring an Android and/or iOS, but have never done a restore for a Windows 8 phone such as this one. I am just wondering where I can find stock files and instructions on how to get this phone working again? Thanks!

I don't think this is my exact issue, but I will give it a try. The reason I say that is because I don't even get rotating cogs, just "Nokia" then bootloop and repeat...
Have you try Hard Reset?
Yes first try the Hard Reset.
If that does not work, you can also try to flash with Nokia Care Suite.

Hi, after doing a Hard Reset, the cogs just turn (has been doing this for about 7 hours).
I've tried all the suggestions on here, but the soft reset doesn't work and I can't flash it using the Nokia "Product Support Tool" (Nokia Care Suite) as the "Firmware Repository" is password protected, so I can't download the Firmware required (Vodafone UK, Nokia Lumia 920 Black). help

Hi there, while Anaheiim method would work too it is somewhat more cumbersome, Nokia developed a tool specially for sittuations like yours, simply download Nokia Software Recovery Tool connect your device to PC and start the program, then simply press install, the tool will do all for you, no interactions needed.

Hello once again. As usual, I've first tried to search my question in the forums, but I couldn't find the answer. So, here I go:
I have a Lumia 925, for which the latest software, according to nokia.com, is 3050.XXXX, whereas the version I have in my phone is 3047.XXXX. When I check for updates in the phone settings, I get a "your phone is up to date". If I use the Nokia Software Updater tool, it says the same.
On the other hand, I bought my phone debranded and unlocked, not "linked" to any provider. So, I'll never get an update via network provider.
Now my question is: where can I find and download the latest firmware for the phone, and how can I flash it?
Phoenix Service Software asks me for a dongle, that I have not. Nokia SU for Retail doesn't give me the latest ROM. Which is the appropriate software for flashing a Nokia Lumia, then?
Thanks in advance.
no new update because not officially released to OTA update...
be patient or read forum... is too many posts on forum about this... you must use NCS or Nokia Care Suite (not latest version), and download and flash firmware via Product Support Tool for Store 5.0 in NCS
NCS download
After Nokia Suite installs, copy and replace the usergroupsconfiguration.cfg file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Product Support Tool For Store 5.0 if you’re running a 64-bit version of Windows. Or C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Product Support Tool For Store 5.0 if on 32-bit.
1. Open Nokia Suite. And select ‘Product Support Tool For Store 5.0′
2. When prompted, select ‘CareSuite External’ then hit ‘Sign-in’ button.
3. From the Menu, select Tools, then ‘Firmware Download’
4. Now enter the product code of your device, hit ‘Check Online’ button, to check the latest firmware version of your product code.
5. Then ‘tick’ ‘Optional Content Files and ‘Download’ to save your firmware.
6. Wait a few minutes for your files to download
7. You may now manually flash your Nokia device with the firmware you just downloaded.
- Your firmware should be stored in the C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products folder of your hard drive.

Thank you. I already downloaded and installed NCS, and followed those steps, but I didn't get the prompt for signing in. Perhaps because I downloaded the latest version (2012.50)? To which version should I downgrade? There are a bunch of them.
In any case, the sad part of it is... NCS says that my device (Lumia 925) is not supported. When I plug in my other Nokia (RM-675), it's supported, which means that my NCS installation is working. Then, why the Lumia 925 shows as not supported? Am I doing something wrong, or it's simply and really not supported by the software?

Ok, I finally got it working. Just downloaded the very latest version of NCS and replaced the edited file. Phone supported.
As to the versions, I finally managed to decypher the soup of codes and versions. I'll post separately, just in case someone wonders.

I have looked and looked to no avail, is it no longer possible to flash Lumia firmware through the Nokia Care Suite anymore? I can not seem to find the RM-820 in the open product. Everything tutorial I have seen says to find it in there I did see a comment in a thread where someone said that they didn't think Nokia is allowing that anymore. Is this true? I have the spinning cogs so I wanted to flash the firmware...
So I'm stuck and all help on the internet seems outdated. Is there something I'm missing?
just read forum... there is few ways to download firmware....

there is a new tool released by nokia that is supposed to help recover / flash phones if they become stuck during boot or flash.
From memory it is called nokia software recovery tool. maybe you could try that if you can find it. I read about it on a site lastnight but can not remember where i saw the info about.
Google may help or it may have even been on here..

I downloaded and installed Nokia Care Suite on a Windows 8.1 PC just last night (EST in New York). I then used to install the Amber update onto a RM-878 that I just bought from Amazon - worked flawlessly.

That is exactly what I am talking about. I have read the thread, followed the thread up until it say under product type. Under the sim tray it says RM-820 and there isn't a RM-820 in there, thus this question got asked. I'm not asking for someone to hold my hand through this, I just wanted to know if the RM-820 is or isn't supported with Nokia Care Suite. I know that the software works, flawlessly even, not saying it didn't. I have the firmware downloaded don't need the firmware. Just wanted to know if the Lumia was still supported by Nokia Care Suite, if I was missing something obvious.

What Phone do you have - reason I ask is that the original thread is a little confusing - there is of course a Lumia 820 but its actual Product Type is RM-824 and if you use the 824 Product Type from this thread:Nokia Lumia 820 Product Code (Product Type RM-824)
at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49364933&postcount=10 it shows dozens of codes to use for the Nokia Care Suite depending on country and carrier.

Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums but was recommended by a friend. He said that if anyone knew how to do what I need to do, this would be the place so I appreciate any help given.
I am looking to wipe out my Nokia Lumia Icon which has the Windows Phone 8.1 Dev kit on it and put on Android. I tried Windows Phone out but there is still a few kinks that need to be worked out before I fully commit. I would normally just go get an Android Phone but finances don't currently permit and the hardware on this phone is nice.
Thanks

Hi,
If I understand correctly, you want to install Android on this phone? If this is so, then you can not.
By cons, I do not quite understand "Windows Phone 8.1 Dev kit" You mean the Preview for Developers?

Yes, I was looking to wipe off Windows Phone 8.1 and install android. Any reason behind why you can't do it? Just software/hardware compatibility or what?
I did mean the preview for developers.
Thanks!
... you're awfully new to this smartphone thing, aren't you? With *very* few counterexamples, what you're asking for is almost never possible. Without going into the technical details:
1) Most smartphones have locked bootloaders. WP8 devices won't load any OS without a MS signature; good luck getting one of those for your Android image.
2) There's no "installer" for Android (or for WP) the way there is for Windows 7 or Ubuntu or something. You have to customize an Android image with device-specific firmware, then flash the whole thing. There currently doesn't exist any Android-compatible firmware for the Icon.
3) Most important of all: SEARCH BEFORE POSTING! It is literally the number one rule on this forum. Lots of noobs have asked this question; it's annoying answering them over and over again.
If you want to install Android on Lumia Icon, why don't you just buy an Android phone ?
Yes, I installed/forced Windows 10 TP on my phone, everything worked fine ... the problem is when I tried restore to Lumia Denim with the application Windows Phone Recovery Tool, start the red screen, but instantly failed and turn off ... no response, no vibrates... connecting the pc jumps '' QHSUSB_DLOAD '' with the correct driver. But other program NOT detected. What I can do?

There is "TWO" ways to recover your Device.
1. Windows Phone Recovery Tool for Windows 10 recovery to revert your particular OS Update.
-without losing your any data.
-required to download 600/700 MB Update files.
2. Lumia Software Recovery Tool for recover the "WHOLE" OS to the STOCK ROM.
- all data will be lost
-required 1.5 GB .FFU Image file.
Windows Phone Recovery Tool in ''waiting for connect''...
Lumia Software Recovery Tool tried but ''the phone is not compatible with Lumia Software Recovery Tool''...

Bricked my lumia 520
I am facing the same issue with my lumia 520 as well..
went down to the nokia care... they charged me to even check what went wrong... and they quoted that it's a Hardware crash and they need to send it to their head office and it might cost around Rs 3550/- in india.
However I personally researched more and found out that boot needs to be recovered using JAF ATF box. or needs external hardware to FFU flash the device. #pissedoff

how to unbrick ur lumia 520
hello friends ,
even i bricked my phone i.e lumia 520 during updating it to windows 10 preview . what should u do is take another lumia 520 (which is in normal condition) and connect it to the windows phone recovery tool 2.1.0 and let it detect and after downloading the package remove the lumia 520 {which is in normal condition} and connect the bricked 520 and then click install , the package will get installed , this worked for me so good , hope it works with you all guys , thank you and all the best
