Verizon LG G2 on T-Mobile 4G LTE... - Verizon LG G2

Been playing with This for a few days... There's a thread in the Verizon G2 for running a T-Mobile rom on the Verizon variant of the G2. I live in an area where the T-Mobile towers were refarmed for LTE. Well I've been running the Rom And ordinarily I was getting their HSPA+ "4G". Not realising I could Go in and change the connection types or whatever, I changed it to GSM/WCDMA/LTE and this happened:

Reason I'm making this post:
As stated in the thread, the VZW G2 looks better than others.
U can buy it CHEAP if u know where to looking.
Has built in wireless charging for those who like that.
And it can operate on 2 4G LTE networks.
Just posting this for us verizon users who are sick of paying these outrageous cell phone bills and are looking to try out other providers.

Not yet, looking at family plans and coverage plus employee discount which could sway staying or going. Also have contract till June on unlim which deciding if I want to keep or not.

I'm on month to month with Verizon right now and still have unlimited data. I priced or tmo as I thought of changing to save money... I have a 20% vzw discount through work so monthly costs were identical. I stuck with Verizon.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

My main job doesn't offer T-Mobile discounts or Verizon, but my 2nd one does. 17%. Even with the discount not utilized from T-Mobile, it ended up being $30 cheaper for me on a family plan with my wife. Add the 17% and it becomes even cheaper. But their service isn't great at my house. And we can't get internet at my house because of the way the street is wired around my way (sucks but oh well) so we use a VZW hotspot. Idk what I should do yet.

Main questions
Does mms work?
Screen shot a speedtest using tmo lte plz?
What about the contacts?
How about knock on

and yes, everything works fine!!!

How Do I Install T-Mobile

I am still trying to get mine working on the T-Mobile LTE. Am told I have to root, but how do you get around the phone staying on "Connected As Installer" for only 30 seconds, then for no apparent reason, swapping to MTP mode? Also, I would like to see step-by-step instructions on how to root, then install the T-Mobile rom.

Bought mine on Saturday and running PA. Got the $45 plan but only 500 mb. Might jump back to T-Mobile next cycle is it's 4G is guaranteed. If not, dihb up automatic payment and get an additional 500 mb.

Verizon 26A stock rom running on Tmobile with LTE
I have my VS980 working perfect on T-Mobile's network through Straight Talk getting LTE on the stock rom that came with the phone. The only "issue" is when I reboot the phone it loads 4G lte in cdma mode until I make my first call, but even then I am still able to use the internet on 4G lte in cdma mode. All it takes is one call made and it automatically changes over to GSM 4G LTE. I have since rooted, but I originally was running on Straight Talk's T-Mobile sim without root. I dont get the VoLTE I had been getting through Verizon, so when I make a call I see the 4G LTE icon change to either 3G or H (hspa+), but it reverts right back to 4G LTE within 5 seconds (usually less). I did install a modified apk for the Verizon Hotspot which now lets me use hotspot and tethering, after I am notifed that a Verizon LTE sim is not installed which is required for Hotspot to work. I am lookind at full bars right now ans I can send a screenshot if needed. I dont think I will flash to a T-Mobile rom since everything runs so smoothly just the way it is. I am in Kansas City, Missouri, and have traveled all over Kansas City Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas ans all the outlying suburbs abd LTE is flawless. When I get too far from the metropolitan area I will end up with umts, G, E (edge), but I never lose the ability to make or receive voice calls, just 4G LTE.

VS9800 on Straight Talk's T-Mobile LTE with stock rom
Sorry, I failed to mention that I actually access T-mobile's 4G LTE network through a Straight Talk sim. All I had to do was replace the Verizon sim with the T-mobile micro sim that came in the Straight Talk BYOP kit ($60-that included 30 days of unlimited service and 3 gigabytes of 4G LTE data) & the phone was instantly operating on T-mobile's 4G LTE network sans any apn configuring whatsoever. Kept the phone on Global network mode. Kansas City is a refarmed area for T-mobile. I suspect I am getting their 4G LTE on the band 4 (aws) spectrum. I have done quite a few speed tests and I get around 30 Mbps for upload and download when I have 3 or more bars. On Verizon in Kansas City I was getting 70 Mbps with full bars, so. I definitely took a hit there, but the difference is mostly academic, really.

Sprint iDen 800mhz -> Sprint CDMA/LTE 800mhz and the One

So, according to HTC.com and Phonescoop.com, the radio for the Sprint version will have 1900mhz LTE, just as with the HTC Evo 4G LTE. Sprint is supposedly rolling out 800mhz LTE (former Nextel iDen) in the 2nd half of 2013. Question is, can the radio be modified via software to have 800mhz LTE, or is this a hardware issue?
Anyone know?
Thanks!

What a mess most of their customers will have, IMO stupid decision. Most people to use this network will need to replace their phones, and it means for you, that you have a decision to make on your LTE future, one which phone you buy or change provider, second option probably the best.
Please note that the Snapdragon 600 chipset does not have any modem support on chip, therefore additional hardware radios are added per requirement. HTC should have gone for the Snapdragon 800 which has a modem that supports LTE as well.
And in short, no you can't just change, it is hardware. However, towards the end of the year hopefully all phones will start to use the Qualcomm chipset announced yesterday which covers all bands worldwide.
HSPA/WCDMA:
Europe/Asia: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
LTE:
EU: 800/1800/2600 MHz
US (AT&T): 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
US (TMO): 700/AWS MHz
US (Sprint): 1900 MHz
Asia: 1800/2600 Mhz
Re: Sprint iDen 800mhz -> Sprint CDMA/LTE 800mhz and the One
Ok thanks for the clarification that's what I was thinking. Perhaps Sprint will go ahead and pre-load the LTE radio for the former iDen 850 spectrum, and activate it with a firmware update. That's all I can hope for I guess.

Very interesting. Not sure what is going on, also not sure if HTC has any clue what is going on. There website is obviously wrong or not up to date. Still doesn't list 800MHz in US.
Looks like the One will only have Sprint band 25 LTE (1900). At least from the FCC figures.

SVDO is also missing, so no simultaneous 3G and voice. Understandably, though, with the LTE network increase.
Have gone from S1 to S2 with sprint, might go with HTC One instead of S4.
Does only one band of LTE on the phone mean there could be some towers that use the band not included in the phone, so I would only get 3g?

Do you have problems with Sprint now? are you using LTE currently?
Your LTE coverage will only be as good as how many 1900Mhz towers Sprint has around. If sprint doesn't have a tower in your phones range for LTE then you will only get 3G
If you travel a lot with roaming, then you will most likely want the AT&T model which covers most of greater America. If you get LTE while roaming will depend on Sprint and other Carriers agreements, otherwise yes your option will be 3G.
Thanks, I wasn't sure if their towers would have both bands or just 1, I wasn't sure why the phone only having 1900Mhz would matter.
I don't have an LTE phone, but I do have wimax coverage in Daytona, LTE is supposedly on the way. My work forces me to travel a lot, don't get to use 4g much anyway, I'm heavily dependent on roamcontrol, with a hacked PRL I make due with us cellular's 3g usually. When I am in Houston/Daytona I would like my LTE phone to have proper coverage though ;P

LTE coverage is great throughout Houston. It gets weak and sometimes drops to 3G when in buildings though.

Yes you are thinking correctly, however Sprint's 1900mhz is pretty comprehensive, in fact, I believe Sprint has more 1900mhz spectrum than any other carrier (hence why Sprint used to be 'Sprint PCS', referencing the PCS 1900mhz band), and far more 1900mhz spectrum than the old iDen 800mhz. You should not have any problems whatsoever.
Ill just be glad when they roll out 800mhz 3g..which this phone does have suport for. If they finally get around to upgrading the 3g here in Houston then I wont mind as much when the connection drops down. As such, the way it is right now, 3g is nigh on unusable, and sometimes so is 4g.

It has nothing to do with the modem. The One has a separate Qualcomm MDM9x15 modem which is not that much different than the modem that's integrated into the Snapdragon 800. It has plenty of ports which could handle another LTE band if one could be "fed" to it.
The issue is the front end RF stuff. Due to the uniqueness of the 800MHz LTE band that will be used by Sprint, it's difficult at this point to source the necessary antenna switches and transceivers and other front end RF components that will handle that specific 800Mhz LTE band.
My guess is that you won't see any ESMR800 LTE phones come out before Q3 or Q4 and it's also probably at least six months at this point before Sprint starts to deploy the technology commercially.

They are not going to roll-out EVDO on 800 MHz, only voice/1x, and a 5x5 LTE carrier.
That is not what I have heard from multiple Sprint reps about EVDO on the 800mhz. I was told, very recently in fact, that the voice/EVDO would be rolled out to the 800mhz, well before any LTE bands were activated in that spectrum. That Sprint was pushing for better penetration for voice and EVDO signals through the 800mhz spread, and that LTE would be focused on the 1900mhz for the time being.

According to this article:
http://www.lightreading.com/sprint/sprint-to-dial-800-for-lte-in-q4/240153521
"We expect to deploy LTE on 800MHz in the fourth quarter," said Steve Elfman, president of network operations and wholesale at Sprint on the call.
Nonetheless, Sprint is clearing the way for LTE integration with WiMax partner Clearwire. Hesse said he expects Clearwire's fast 4G service to start arriving late in the third quarter with "TD-LTE, multi-band devices."
With so many different chunks of frequency to support, Sprint will need these devices to switch between 2.5GHz, 800MHz and 1900MHz to get around the network.

That's not that unusual and really not that big of a deal for the the radios to handle in the upcoming devices.
In any case, working with multiple bands is fairly commonplace. Look at Verizon and AT&T for example which operate four different bands.

[Q] New Arizona RAZR i owner with questions

I live in Mesa, Arizona. I bought the Motorola RAZR i XT890, and signed-up for Tmobile service. I should receive the phone this afternoon. I have some questions about the phone and what kind of phone service I can expect in the greater metro Phoenix area with Tmobile...
1. Correct me if I am wrong: The RAZR i phone cannot use the 1700 3G band that TMobile uses in the U.S. The RAZR i instead uses the 1900 3G band for 3G access, which Tmobile is slowly upgrading their towers to in the U.S. Within the greater metro Phoenix area, what kind of phone data service will I receive? More specifically, I live near Gilbert Road and McDowell Road. What kind of coverage and data speed will I get in that part of Mesa with the RAZR i on the Tmobile network?
2. The RAZR i comes with Android 4.0.4. I know that some people, in some countries outside the U.S. are getting OTA updates to newer versions of Android for their RAZR i phones. Living in Mesa, Arizona, can I get an OTA upgrade to a new version of Android on my RAZR i? If I cannot immediately update to a newer version of Android, when can I expect an upgrade to a newer version of Android? Is there any way to speed up the process of receiving a new version of Android on the RAZR i?
3. I am reading that the RAZR i has excellent battery life when the user mostly focuses on actually talking on the phone. For heavy data-users, the phone's battery life is mediocre. Is that true? Does the phone quickly use battery power when it is frequently pulling data?

I do not live in Phoenix area, but in the Portland, OR area.
I get 3G/"4G" with T-mobile (HSPA+) here, although I have a prepaid plan and use data only if I do not have acces to wifi and really need access.
I still have not recived my JB upgrade, but I am told I should get it OTA by end of March. OTA works here in the US, I know it because I got a small update/patch this way back in November. There is no way to speed up teh OTA process - we have to wait (unless you want to root your device and upgrade manually; I have not done that and cannot because of my company's policy).
So far I am very happy with the battery life. I never really measured it (others did), but with wifi on ~2 hours a day and phone on all the time I get 2 days out of it. Way better than my previous 2 Android phones. I do not turn on data a lot, so I cannot tell you how battery life is in that case.
It is well build and I like the screen and how compact the whole solution is (form factor).
Only thing I do not like is that they mounted the internal storage as "/sdcard" as opposed to the external card (at least in ICS). Many apps automatically install on /sdcard. and therefore I cannot install some games (most storage already gone because of my navigation SW and more importantly maps). Apparently this has not been solved in JB.
You can't get 4G 'cause according to some people here there is no LTE chip in the Razr i.
Even with heavy usage here in Europe I get one solid day with the Razr i so that is very good.
And I don't see the problem with the 1700 MHz? I'm on T-Mobile Netherlands which also uses the 1700 MHz band and never had any problem up till now with the Razr i.

You can actually get T-Mobile US HSPA+ (T-Mobile's first version of 4G) if you live in a Refarmed area.
http://www.airportal.de/
Here is a map.
Yeah, but that is not "4G" technically because 4G is technically LTE. HSPA+ is sometimes called 4G but that's wrong because 4G really is LTE.

The RAZR i cannot use the 1700 MHZ. The phone cannot detect that band. Here are the specs for the RAZR i:

If you are getting Tmobile reception in the Netherlands, it's because you are on a different band. You cannot get the 1700 band on the RAZR i.
HSPA+ is 3.5G... right?
BTW, I'm curious about what firmware do you have... because by this time only the Retail EU and SFR France are the only ones that have JB, I using my RAZR i in Telcel, so basically the 3G frequencies are the same as AT&T and when I had the Defy and the Cliq XT, both from T-Mobile i got EDGE speeds... so, I don't know if you gonna get 3G on your area.. i don't know...

I have the following firmware on my RAZR i:
81.5.39001.XT890.Retail.en.GB
I am on Android 4.0.4. I check frequently for updates, and have yet to receive an update.
I received horrible voice and data connection with Tmobile from my home, so I switched to the AT&T GoPhone monthly plan. I get good voice and data connections with AT&T from my home.
My RAZR i definitely receives HPSA+ speeds at my home on Mesa, Arizona. At my home, my phone always shows a "H+" in the notification area. I use the app RF Signal Tracker to determine my connection. According to RF Signal tracker, I am on HPSA+ from my home in Mesa, Arizona.

My HSPA+ has been throttled to Edge on this plan since it's 500MB max , But my LTE I believe is unlimited since no provision on it? Haven't been throttles on LTE, Hopefully I don't with this $40 greatness.

HSPA+ is a form of 4G for T-Mobile. LTE I forgot how it works, but LG G2 are able to pick it up off T-Mobile. I'm currently on Metro PCS still using a stock rom and it picks up 4G LTE and switches to HSPA+ when out of LTE area and even goes to Edge when in a bad area. Its all in using the right APN Settings.
and Metro PCS is owned by T-Mobile, so its using T-Mobile Towers.
For Stock roms, U would have to input T-mobile LTE APN settings to access it.
Can you please tell me how to get data (either 3G or 4G) on the Lg g2 verizon? I already put in a T-mobile sim card, changed network to GSM mode and add an APN following the instructions on the Internet but all I get is voice calling only. The notification bar shows a 3G symbol but I'm not able to connect to the Internet at all. (

I'm on Stock rom and getting data. The apn is fast.t-mobile.Com
The name is T-Mobile LTE
Change your network setting to global for LTE
Am I seeing this correctly? I ask not to be a smartbutt... I ask because if Im understanding you, I cant get this to work at all.
You said you have the Verizon LG G2 on MetroPCS using the T-mobile LTE APN settings... but you did not have to root or flash or smack or take a hammer to it? Its completely stock?
Yep been using mine for a couple of months completely stock, works great.
Yeah I think Verizon LG G2 are the only ones unlocked to different carriers. Because I also use my wifes t mobile sim with no problem at all.
i cant seem to get mms on stock roms tried using xdabbeb g3 rom and data works but no mms is it even possible ??

[Q] Does international S6 Edge G925F work on AT&T?

Does anyone know if the international S6 Edge G925F work on AT&T?
i'm debating if i should buy the international unlocked version so i get updates faster and less bloat, but i want to make sure the international model supports AT&T's LTE!

Yes, G925F will work great. Both devices support the same LTE bands, though the AT&T version also supports bands 29 & 30. This is not a huge deal as AT&T is not yet utilizing these. When they do, it will only be in heavily congested areas like big cities.
Somewhat related questions. 1. Where is a good place to buy the international version? 2. What options are there for insurance? I'm assuming that the AT&T insurance won't cover the international phone.
Does an international version also include an unlocked bootloader? I too am interested in what options there are for insurance. I am on AT&T as well.
What about the 925I what is the difference between the F and the I?
Guys,
I have the SM-G925F Gold 64GB and it doesn't work well with AT&T or T-Mobile. The reception is very bad compared to the AT&T model I have sitting next to it. The firmware must be tuned differently than what is needed for the US frequency bands. I can barely pick up LTE on either AT&T or T-Mobile when I have a great LTE signal on the AT&T variant SM-G925A sitting next to it. I would advise against purchasing the 925F.

Hi y2jdmbfan, could you use your dialer and enter *#0011# for both phones and let us know what band they are using? Also from this post, a user had to call AT&T to get the unlocked phone's IMEI registered on the AT&T network so it would be recognized as an LTE device. Thanks.

I can post the LTE Discovery screenshots as well, which shows some craziness. The other part of this is that you can't get VoLTE or HDVoice with the International Version either...

Here are the screen shots, the 925F seems to be picking up LTE this morning down on my first floor where my PC is. There is definitely something screwy with the radio though on it. See below.

Thanks for redoing the pictures. You know you should call AT&T and just verify that your sm-g925f is a recognized LTE device on its network. They'll easily verify your IMEI. It wouldn't hurt to try before sending it back.
As per paperWastage post:
paperWastage said:
AT&T only gives you access to the LTE network if you have a LTE-capable device. AT&T detects this by checking the IMEI, or by someone manually flagging the account/IMEI
Since they don't sell the international version, they don't have your IMEI flagged as a LTE device. Therefore, you get only 3G/HSPA.
You need to "register" a AT&T phone on your device by calling in and telling them the IMEI (use your older ATT phone, or a display model at a store). Then, swap the SIM to your new phone
AT&T may still have your old AT&T phone tied to your account, and given you LTE access even though you switched to this new phone

I'm using the IMEI for the AT&T branded White Galaxy S6 Edge I have sitting here on both lines, so that is not the issue. Thanks though.
Just so I understand correctly. Each phone has its own dedicated IMEI that can not be changed. When you put your AT&T SIM in the SM-G925F you are connecting to their network with the dedicated IMEI of the SM-G925F. From paperWastage explanation, how does AT&T know the IMEI for the SM-G925F which is an international phone know its a recognizable LTE device for its network? From his explanation you have to call them so they can add the SM-G925F to the network as a LTE device. The reason I'm trying to clarify is BC I'll be receiving my SM-G925F sometime this week and if it really does not work like you're finding I may not even open it and send it back. It'll save me on the restocking fee if I do not open it. But like I said I'm trying to understand how this all works. Thanks again.

Basically each phone has it's own IMEI, but all that matters is what features / phone is provisioned to your SIM card. There is not way that you can call AT&T and get them to add the SM-G925F as a recognized LTE device, it won't happen. You can tie any IMEI number to your account / SIM card in order to get your line / SIM setup for a proper LTE plan. One method is to just go in the store and get the IMEI off another Galaxy S6 Edge that is AT&T branded and log into your AT&T account and change your device to that IMEI.
Got it! Thank you kindly for clarifying. So it looks like I'll have to go with an unlocked SM-G925A.

It doesn't need to be unlocked if you are using it with AT&T...the SM-G925A is an AT&T version.
G9250
I am on AT&T and I am thinking about getting a SM-G9250 which unlocked from Hong Kong. It radio frequencies support is superior to all other variants and it even has CMDA support. At same price, it seems better choice than I or F model ( I have G920I now and I am happy with connectivity). I will not be flashing roms and will stick to stock rom. But I'm worried about things like Samsung Pay. Do you guys think samsung will enable pay for specific models? Are there any other concerns about getting the 9250 instead of F or I?
Here are the bands supported by G9250:
LTE B1, B2, B3, B4(AWS), B5, B7, B8, B12, B17, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26, B28, B29
TD-LTE B38, B41, B40, B39
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
CDMA 800
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
3G CDMA BC0(800)
3G TD-CDMA B34(2010), B39(1880)
Hey
where did you get the info on the bands for the different Models? i want to compare the models before i get it and i didnt know the G9250 actually supported the most bands..
Thanks !

From different Samsung regional websites. Go to TECH SPECS of each of these pages:
SM-G9250
SM-G925F
SM-G925I
G9250
So has anyone tried the other versions? G9250 seems interesting, anyone tried it yet? can more G925F owners confirm the slow connectivity issue with AT&T?
thanks !

No LTE in the US with T-mobile

Anybody having a problem with getting LTE on their Oneplus 3Ts? I'm showing 4g only no matter what APN I am using. Other people have reported the same problem on AT&T. Speeds are not LTE speeds, getting around 50 mbps on my HTC m8, around 30 on the 3T.
*EDIT* So it seems to me like a problem with carrier aggregation. 4G = LTE 4G+ = LTE w/ CA. The device is constantly jumping between 4G and 4G+ every minute or so. When you go from 4G to 4G+, the speeds drop dramatically. In the screenshots from LTE discovery, you can see the right side change from GSM to LTE_CA and 4G to 4G+ respectively. The band also switches between 4 and 12. Spent an hour on Oneplus support chat doing the usual stuff, reboot, factory reset. Nothing works. This is on a completely stock 3T updated to the newest OOS 3.5.3.

Here is a speedtest on 4G and another on 4G+
Submitted Bug Report on Oneplus forum
I didn't even know its supposed to show LTE. I also only have 4g on mine. (tmobile) my speeds are horrid. Like 3mbs download max bad.
Yea this blows. Smh I thought this was an upgrade from the 3. Smh I'm getting 5mb download speed and 8mb for upload speed on 4G only. (t-mobile)
It appears we do have LTE cause in sim info it does say I am connected to band 4 LTE. I guess they changed the icons. Still doesnt explain the speed. My note 4 has like 70mbs download while my new op3t has 3mbs.

Okay! I seem to have narrowed the problem down. Every minute or so the phone will switch from 4G to 4G+. With 4G you get full LTE speeds, but 4G+ results in speeds of ~3mbps. Looking at LTE discovery we can that the right side changes from GSM to LTE_CA when it goes from 4G to 4G+. The band is also changing from 4 to 12. Here are some [screenshots.](http://imgur.com/a/Mbn8J) This happens whether I am on VoLTE or not. I'm guessing carrier aggregation is not working properly resulting in super slow speeds when it tries to use multiple bands.
Is there something I need to enable on my t mobile account for CA?

Yes, I can confirm under SIM status, it is changing from 4G to LTE_CA when the statusbar changes from 4G to 4G+ respectively. This happens every minute or so. The problem is LTE_CA has super slow speeds ~4 Mbps.

No. 4G means LTE on the Community Build on the OP3 as well as the initial release on the OP3T. If it's HSPA/HSPA+ then it will display as H/H+.

Who is your cell provider? Where are you located?
Seems this has been an issue since the Op3...if it is a persistence issue that I cannot find a solution for once a receive the op3t...I may just return it....Seems people loose services and problem with typical day web browsing.
What is the point of unlimited data if I can't even use it? Lol no matter how great a phone is, without proper service...its useless.
Is this a TMobile only issue? Is it location dependent (ie, due to aggregation...may be better in other areas)?
Carrier issues.
You guys are having better luck than me so far. I'm only getting H+ on mobile data. Also, I went into the AT&T store to get the Micro SIM swapped for a nano for my new OnePlus 3T and activate the new IMEI on the 3T. When they tried to activate the IMEI of my 3T their system only recognized the device as GSM capable but not LTE so it dropped off my grandfathered unlimited data plan. About 30 mins later they got my plan put back, but it's still tied to the IMEI of my Nexus 5. So now I am working on my new OnePlus 3T with a Nexus 5 IMEI and now LTE service, only H+. Gotta love the big US carriers.

I came from the Note 4 on AT&T also, but I rather just invest in the SIM cutter. So I never have to leave my house. This is the 3rd cut I made so far w/o trouble. Since the SIM didn't change, and I didn't have to call anyone, I never have any problem.
