Chromecast having issues with DIR-615 REV C, SW ver 3.1 - Google Chromecast

Hi All,
I bought a chromecast few days ago and cannot seem to connect it to DIR-615 router. The Chromecast website says DIR-615 with SW version 5.1 is a compatible router but I have SW ver 3.1 in it. For my router's model (rev C0 this is the most recent SW version.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Try changing it to another channel and also check if dd-wrt has a firmware available for it.

Before you go flashing a custom firmware I suggest you go to the Manf support site for your router and see if there is a firmware upgrade available.
It is likely that your older version does not support what is needed and the newer firmware adds the UPnp and Multicast capabilities required for CCast.

Or you could put DD-WRT on it.

dd-wrt does not provide such a reliability or security as openwrt/gargoyle.
Contrary to DD-WRT, openwrt and gargoyle is open source.
I recommend gargoyle if you like GUI:
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/
http://eko.one.pl/?p=openwrt-gargoylepl

Hello, I have a DIR-615 rev C2 with DDWRT, and it's working fine use the latest version found here ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2014/01-10-2014-r23320-fix/
Just to clarify you need to use C1 version for C2 routers, make sure that your router is c0 as I've never seen one in the wild

OpenWRT does support the DIR-615 C1 and C2 revs, but unfortunately my i1 rev is not yet listed as supported as far as I can see.
A lot of people also like Tomato firmware, but it seems to be more strictly limited to routers with Broadcom chipsets (the C1/C2 and i1 have Atheros chipsets).
I understand that all of these alternative firmwares originated with the open-source router firmware that Linksys published for the venerable WRT54G, so while they differ a little in the GUI, they probably all have very similar capabilities under the hood when it comes to the detailed Linux command scripts that are usually given for DD-WRT.

@caifaz
Ah, I will go home and check. Maybe a typo.
Thanks for catching that.

@Asphyx: The SW version I have is the last SW manufacturer released. So I guess, I will have to flash it.
Thank you, all. I will try to flash it over the weekend.

Well Google said it works with V5 and you have V3....
That suggests there is a V5 firmware for your router....
Unless the versions your talking about are for the hardware not the firmware.
In that case the Router may not be capable at all even after the Custom flash.

tun.ko for 4.1.57

Attached tun.ko for 4.1.57. Works for me with VPNC. I put it in /system/lib and the VPNC Widget can load it.
awesome!!!! i was waiting for this to be able to connect to my cisco vpn!
great post!!!
Note: network connection tracking does not work
This means that after you connect to VPNC, disconnect from VPNC, turn wifi off, and then turn wifi back on, your connection will be hosed. As a workaround, you can run the VPNC widget settings pane and retoggle wifi. This resets the network state.
thx for this tread.good job
Thanks for shared! this file working well on 1.83 too
It's working perfectly on the Brazillian version of Atrix from Claro carrier.
I really wanted the possibility of compiling other modules for my Atrix stock kernel.
I really wanted to use some volume encryption functionality... As such a tool does not exist natively for Android, I`m thinking about using some kernel functinoality such as Loop-AES, LUKS, DM-Crypt or even some userspace FS for encryption (FUSE).
So, could anyone point me where i can find the source code for the Atrix kernel to try to compile those modules for it? I really think that this could be a great thing. One of the very fews things that i miss on Full Linux.
Thanls in advance.

Victor, are you using the stock kernel with this or did you need to recompile it?
I'm very sorry for the looooooooooooooooong delay in the answer.
And yes i was using on the stock kernel (Claro Brazil Android 2.2). Now i'm trying to use OpenVPN on the latest 2.3.6 official rom and it's not working anymore...
I'm thinking in some workround... any ideas?
Cheers.

The tun.ko module doesn't work, I was going to compile one for 2.3.4 (at least the stock kernel) but it seems my desktop killed itself, and I'm not going to install linux on my laptop (it seems to suck with booting from CD, and USB doesn't work... no idea why, but it works fine with Windows Discs)
Might consider using Faux's kernel, it has TUN/TAP (I've never tested though)

[Q] T-Mobile Galaxy Tab - Few Questions

Hi guys, just this week I got a new Galaxy Tab from T-Mobile, so far so good, but I have a few questions about it.
1-) This is my first time using Android, is there a better version or ROM for this particular tab (or another that is fully compatible) which I should flash into it which is better or gives me more functionality than the default Android installation that T-Mobile puts on it?
2-) How are upgrades of Android OS obtained? I heard 3.0 is out, any ideas if Samsung or T-Mobile will make it available on these devices?
3-) Can "Line2" be used with it? I noticed when I'm connected to Wi-Fi at home Line2 works, but when I'm connected to 3G it wont work.
4-) Is it easy to install Themes on the Galaxy Tab, any tutorials?
5-) Any specific tricks/tweaks or apps, that are a must have for Galaxy Tab owners?
Thanks in advance!
-Eli
I also just got my SGT T-mobile. What is the model number of your tablet? What is the Baseband version of your tablet? Have you rooted yours?
Mine's model is SGH-T849, Baseband T849UVJJB, and yes, I downloaded a program from this board which supposedly roots it, after installing and running the commands it said it had successfully rooted my device, now how do I know if it is really rooted?
Also what's the Baseband? lol sorry but I'm lost, this is my first ever tablet and also first ever Android OS device.

We both have the same model and baseband. I'm not sure what baseband is. You can check to see if your tablet is rooted by going to Applications and look around to see if you can find a Superuser icon.
If it's rooted, I guess your next step is to find a custom ROM and flash it.
Do you remember what you used to root your tablet? Was it SuperOneClick?
Yes, it was the SuperOneClick one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812367
Baseband is the modem you have. The modem controls the phone, wirelass data, wifi, and bluetooth. Yours is JJB.

Well, I'm not an expert but here is my experience:
1. You should flash the new Overcome experience Hermes:
http://overcome.mimzo.com/
There is also the unofficial cyanogenmod beta, but as you said the overcome is fully compatible and it will not change the feel of the Tab, just adds to the functionality.
2. The updates are two types:
# Official, these are over the air and you will find notifications in the notification area to tell you that there is a new update, or may be through kies for Samsung.
# Unofficial, which is basically flashing other ROMs whether official or custom.
# As for Android 3.0 (which is called honeycomb), it is not officially coming to the Tab. May be after the 3.2 announced a couple of days ago, but I still don't think so. Still, you might want to follow this thread as there are trials to get it fully working on the Tab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122959
3. I don't have any idea about this, as I got mine used and then I rooted and flashed it the day I got it.
4. Of course there are themes for the Android. This Overcome I was telling you about has a Gold theme. There are a lot of ways to get themes on the Tab. I myself use different home launchers with different themes. You don't need to flash anything if you are just looking to change the looks of your device. Check this out and let me know if you like it:
Go Launcher EX https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex&feature=search_result
There are a lot other but this is my favorite. You can even change the fonts of the display.
5. The most common used tips and tweaks that you should use is over-clocking/ under-volting which gives you more speed and less battery drainage.
As for the apps, these are my favorites:
Tango, Photfunia, ezPDF reader, Movies (or IMDB), Springpad (or Catch), File Expert, Go Launcher, Go weather, Google Goggles, Google Shopper, Just reader, Splashtop, Plex, GrooveIP. I guess there are more on my device but these are the ones that I found more functional and fun to use.
Hope this helps...
Thanks rangercaptain,

Yes it does.

Any 2.2 rom is froyo (frozen yogurt).
Any 2.3 rom is gingerbread.
You can have either "flavor". They are both in the development section. Both are highly recommended.
Hi guys,
I've been visiting this forum for more than 6 months now, but I think this is my first post. I have a T-Mobile SGH-T849 GT-P1000.
Last year I unlocked it and changed it to a Gingerbread Euro. Below is the current setup:
Firmware version 2.3.3
Baseband version P1000XXJPZ
Kernel version 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build number GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
Tab has been working fine, with the exception of:
- often does not remember wi-fi hotspots automatically, need to switch off/on wi-fi to do this
- 3G & phone works erratically. I don't use it as a phone, but those times that I tried I noticed the phone would loose connectivity to the mobile network and needed a reboot in order to fix it.
I'd like to upgrade it to Ginger 2.3.6, but which rom should I use? I checked on the forum, but I'm not sure if I should use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380595&page=3
or any other.
Is my modem correct or should I use this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902323&page=4
to install JL5 modem?
Sorry for the noob questions.
I have a galaxy tab 7+ sgh-t869 I need to chance my build prop in order to play order and chaos online it doesn't support operating system I have no idea how to chance it or what to change it to please help thanks

28.0.A.8.272 update wifi tethering hotspot issue

Tethering is not working after 28.0.A.8.272 firmware upgrade can anyone confirm the same? How to solve wifi tethering issue?
hey, i allready got this issue! but you will need to have root to fix it. Is a flag on a Android Database file that blocks 'hotspot' function. You can downgrade back to 266 or wait for a other region 272 firmware.
By the way, this firmware it's better in some aspect? How is the cpu clock on it?
de98cdb63018aa375eacd009d5da0cb3 E6553_28.0.A.8.272_TW.ftf
This is Taiwan version. I tried it little bit ... and roll back to 251. It crashed/reboot when I have xposed with it. I could not get its boot.img, I have to flash boot.img from 251, maybe that was the cause.
I haven't seen much difference in the cpu speed. I have attached antutu benchmark screen, hope that's useful.
Hi Guys !
Ver .272 TW with Ver .266 Generic is same ?
Someone here can check the processor speed clock with cpuinfo?
hey guys kernel of 266 regular staff works in vesao 272 can use , I am using http://click.xda-developers.com/api...ww.mediafire.com/download/qw...z3%2B+boot.rar

No Nougat Update for SM-G610Y

Can anyone help me with this.
All the other versions of the J7 Prime (G610F & G610M) have recieved 7.0 Nougart update 6 months ago.
My phone is pretty much the same underneath as the rest of these, No my phone is not carrier locked.
I'm not the only one having this issue, there are a lot of people in the Philippines, Pakistan and here in New Zealand who are wanting this update and cant get it.
Samsung wont tell me anything no matter how much I ask their help desk and support team
I feel like as a customer I deserve to at least know why I haven't got this update but the rest of the world has, and not get continuously told to turn auto updates on when its already on.
Same device bro
Bro, i am a Y variant and i'm on PH. We don't have a choice but to install custom rom to taste the nougat android. Just root your phone, install TWRP then install custom rom like NovaOS or Lineage OS 15.1 for J7 Prime. Just search it and you can find it.
Same issue here...just installed Xenos Rom and its more than enough for me with the features....there are other roms as well
same ;(
Ah, those lazy Samsung coding teams...
My condolences, but you can always install the ROM closest to stock.

Thank you for contacting Samsung Philippines.
This is to acknowledge the receipt of your e-mail regarding Nougat update for your Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime (SM-G9610Y). We are here to provide you with necessary information about your concern.
Upon checking, Nougat will no longer be available for J7 Prime units released in the Philippine market. Kindly note that Samsung needs to perform multiple tests to ensure the compatibility of the software to the hardware as well as the security of the user.
However, after series of test, Samsung product and development team has decided not to release the nougat update due to some possible incompatibility issue.

There are no specific apps for Philippines G610Y except when you purchase through a Telco where settings like boot screen / default web pages all point to the Telco. Flashing Aussie Official G610Y ROM should be fine. In fact this should be a good base to create a custom ROM as it may contain updated drivers and the like.
I been running the Nougat Note FE XenOS v.1.1 without any problem so i dont need to worry bout waiting for an update from OTA

One minor problem I have encountered so far now is whenever I switch to 3G/2G on network mode, it doesn't survive the reboot. It reverts nback to 2G/3G/LTE mode. Other than that the Stock ROm is stable so far. Battery life is incredible.

Need to troubleshoot 1x1. First, I noticed you are using Oxygen kernel. It could probably be an incompatibility with this one.
Another, which I can think of is incompatibility of CSC part if you didnt change your original.

It was still present when I was still using the stock kernel. About the CSC though I have no idea. But maybe you're right because I flashed the original CSC tar.md5 file that came straight from the stock Aussie Nougat ROM. I don't know how I can change it. (Perhaps flash the stock CSC from MM?)

I checked my csc if it changed , and yes it was changed together with xenos. So it might be something else. But then there are CSCs which are not multi CSCs. So i could be wrong.
Edit: ok i did some googling. CSC doesnt affect network selection its the baseband part. You can install phone info samsung to check what versions you are in.

Just tried flashing the old MM modem.bin Seems to work like a charm. Although the network mode still reverts the 2G/3G/4G mode, I'm getting consistent 2G signals now and no more signal drops. I just use 4G whenever I use the phone outside where there is no wifi or when I use Navigation apps like Waze. I assume it'll get the 4G/LTE signal when the signal is strong enough.

Can you kindly guide me on how to flash modem.bin? I flashed NZ Nougat stock ROM on PH-bought G610Y and I'm having problem switching network mode when using dual sim. If I disable sim 2 I have no problem. But when both sims are enabled I can't swith sim 1 from 2G only to 4G/3G/2G. Switching doesn't do anything. It's stuck in 2G only.
Do I simply flash the file that starts with "CP"?
Update: I went ahead and flashed the CP file from Marshmallow and problem is fixed. Thanks for the tip!

I am experiencing problems with the new facebook app on XenOS v.1.1 FB is important for me because I need it for work. So, I decided to flash the New Zealand Nougat G610Y. Here are the steps I took for successful installation official nougat on Philippine based phone:
1. I flashed latest XTC G610Y MM so all partitions contain XTC (Philippines) based settings/customizations (BL / AP / CP / CSC)
2. I flashed G610YZTU1BRC3 Nougat (BL / AP) only which means CP/CSC remains XTC (xtc is multi CSC)
3. after step 2 finishes flashing from ODIN, it will encounter an error, but it will go to recovery mode
4. at recovery mode, I simply reboot the system and enjoyed a fresh copy of Nougat
I did not encounter any problem with network selection and tested rebooting it as well. Hope that helps your problem.
Please Assist me on this (i mean step by step instructions..)

Roll back Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 T719 T719XXU1BRA1 from 7->6 - correct firmware advice

Roll back Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 T719 T719XXU1BRA1 from 7->6 - correct firmware advice
Hi,
Sorry for a noob question, just want to make sure I don't get this wrong as I've not reflashed a tablet before and I can't find an answer that specifically addresses this question.
My Samsung Galaxy TAB S2 8.0 T719 4G 32GB Qualcomm 3072 MB is running Android 7.0 and I have a must-use app that won't get along with anything above Android 6, so I need to downgrade.
The Baseband version of the tablet is T719XXU1BRA1.
I'm in the UK, the tablet has LTE, which I need, and it should be unlocked to all networks. It was supplied by Amazon UK but I suspect it's not a UK specific model.
I've searched for 6.x ROMs for this specific version, but cannot find one that exactly matches the model number and I'm not sure if any T719 version will do (eg I think some are network-specific or aren't for LTE-equipped versions).
I'd be happy using an official Samsung 6.x ROM if it'll retain app functions that are blocked by a rooted phone (my bank's app wont work on a rooted phone, for instance) but I'd really like one that gave me control to remove the bloatware and keep things clean, even if that meant sacrificing the bank app functionality.
Can anyone point me towards the specific ROM I should use for either route?
Thanks very much.
J
You can use any T719 rom, only old 6.0.1. available.
Choose from here, slow download but it works https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-s2/SM-T719/
It will be unbranded, all languages available for European roms( e.g Romania)
The only problem that can occur is the bootloader.
On newer Samsung devices it doesn't allow to downgrade.
You can try with Odin.

Shouldn't need to downgrade the bootloader as they are usually backwards compatible with the previous OS version.
Just flash AP.
As for root and apps refusing to work, Magisk hide can handle most of them.
