YouTube App - Asus Transformer TF701

Can anyone explain why the official Youtube app by Google performs so pathetically?
The design is not bad, but buffering and loading often takes centuries, and sometimes just dies and says network error when my internet is perfectly fine. And then the commenting, not only is the Google+ thing horrible, now the comment on this app also STOPS the video, and sometimes loads forever and wouldn't even work?
I'm really surprised by this because even on Windows Phone 8 there's 3rd party Youtube apps that works miles better than this one (and of course Google had to block MS by making their own Official app which was also pretty good)
I remember when I first started using my TF201 the app was actually in a better place than this, the panoramic view was cool and everything at least works. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Video on Demand App

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has come across a VOD app for our nifty WM Touch Pro devices, such as Hulu, Veoh, or Joost. It'd be awesome! I watch CNN live a lot on my device and the crisp clear quality/feedback I receive only enriches my experience I'm experiencing.
For hulu I use skyfire. For everything else I use vtap. just go to vtap.com using PIE and download the app. I really enjoy it.
yea vTap is pretty easy and simple to use... the version I have is limited to YouTube and the search results seem skewed. Does it offer more choices now?
Hulu would be cool. Skyfire is amazing but just seems clunky (not responsive enough). I always have problems getting the zoom to fit right. Although I would think it would be worth while for a lengthy show... but something like viewing youtube is a nightmare because of all the zooming required.
Pocket Internet Explorer 6, which is available in several newer roms... also supports Flash, out of the box... without any additional Flash Lite installs or anything. I haven't tried Hulu... but youtube works.
Since PIE6 isn't server based... it is a little bit faster to responding. I use PIE6 more now then any other browser.
If you really want to be bleeding edge... PIE8 is in the WM6.5 builds... which takes PIE6 to new heights and offers much better zooming capabilities.
Anyone test Hulu or other equivalent in the newer PIE versions?

Youtube app equivalent to desktop?

Hey guys, If I'm in the wrong area, I apologize.
I was wondering if there was a better youtube app for the HTC Fuze. The native youtube app, and the google youtube app are nice, but they do not play the full range of videos available on youtube, (ex. try looking up the music videos for "What you got" by Colby O'donis, or "Dangerous" by Kardinal Offishall, forgive my taste in music). You will not be able to find the music videos for these songs like you would on a desktop computer.
I've tried Coreplayer, and WVD player, but they either take a really long time searching or there is great difficulty finding videos.
I know this sounds funny but I'm quite surprised that there is difficulty for flash videos on winmo. I have a psp, and the youtube app is amazing (you also have the ability to go to other video hosting websites). Is there a youtube app that is equivalent to a desktop computer or the psp?
Thank you for your time.
ive been a bit dissapionted also in the phone because i tell everyone how much better the touch pro is than the iphone and then it cant do high quality youtube videos. please someone prove me wrong
if you go to the settings icon at the top and hit high quality instead of fast speed they look pretty damn good....
Yeah but if you're running a stock ROM the video skips because it can't process or keep the video and audio in sync..don't know what causes the problem. Not sure if that happens on cooked ROMs though
Have you tried coreplayer 1.3.2 youtube section after pressing views. It has settings out the a**! Hi,Lo,3g,FLV,H264 720p. Beautiful!! Try that if you havent!
But coreplayer is a commercial app, it is not free
btw I tried this software but was unable to make it work for youtube, it never finds anything...

[Q] Flash player kinda sucks ? Hell yeah!

All this hype around Android made me buy a SGS. Having flash on the browser was one big reason for acquisition. Soon I discovered that flash isn't what is promised, a desktop experience on my mobile device. I say this because most of the time (like 95%) the flash works so bad in my browser, that is barely usable. When trying to watch streams, mostly on news sites I get a message with "The video is not optimized for mobile" and the playback is choppy, sometimes when seeking, takes 10-15 seconds until the choppy playback starts again. If I try to watch something in low quality it works fine, but most of the sites offer good quality video. I expect more from a 1Ghz cpu...
Is this a problem of my device or is it general ? I have the latest Adobe Flash available on the market.
What firmware and kernel are you using?

Do some research... if you are using the Default browser, open it and in the address bar type:
about:debug
and hit go...
Now go into your browser settings and at the bottom there should be an option to set the UA String, select Desktop....
Downside:
some sites will still see your device as mobile.
you have to re do the fix Every time you load the browser...
Alternative:
try Dolphin HD broswer, it has a US string setting in the options already and only needs set once.
Downside:
Is a little slower to load pages than the default browser.
some sites will still see your device as mobile.
An another point, if you are using 3g... don't expect miracles!
sadly he's right ;( its not even working properly over wifi so i cant really say the net is the problem.
id say the problem lies in flash itself and/or its something in the memory management since ive seen stock roms delivering way better flashperformance than any custom so far, so possibility is that the stream freezes and has to rebuffer every time the memmngt cuts the memory, else you could just try to flash ubuntu and see if it works any magic ;P what do it know for all its worth it could be tha b0mb
good luck anyways !

Solution: Flash a custom JVK Gingerbread rom and DO NOT install the flash player from the market, but use the one that comes preinstalled! This way you'll have 720p flash videos playing smoothly.

I guess its rather a problem with some websites.
I never had problem with Flash player 10.1 or 10.2 (i am MIUI rom but i had previously JVK)
No problem with my SGS but i dont use flash that often so it could be as said some sites .
Use Dolphin HD browser mostly .
The video is not optimized for mobile" >> could that be the clue ???
jje
I have stock JS4 ROM, sorry forgot to mention this in the main thread. Also I am using flash only via Wifi. Actually I am using Opera Mobile and I've set the UA to Firefox Desktop one. Gonna try the idea with stock browser, maybe Opera has messed up something.

Chrome Extension Disappeared From Youtube

Hi, so far using Google Chrome and loving it, one of the best $35 ever spent!!:laugh:
I've been having an issue with the Youtube App on iOS (I know this is mostly an Android based forum..), the Chrome Extension has disappeared..- It was working fine until 2 days back, I tired reinstalling the App but nothing works! Please help.
FYI incase this is important, the standby wallpapers still come on the TV so I'm hoping everything on that front is fine, plus it still works on my laptop + youtube on the laptop. I just need it to work on the iOS as that is what I use it for most.
Many thanks!
Not sure if this is relevant to your situation. But, the only time I've noticed the chromecast icon in YouTube disappearing was when my phone wasn't on Wi-Fi or not seeing my network properly.
YMMV

Make sure your YouTube application is updated. With the release of the Cast SDK a few weeks ago both Chromecast and many associated applications were updated.

Video doesn't load in Photos app

I've searched multiple forums and attempted to work with Samsung support (they want me to send tablet to them).
If I try to load a video (not take on this device) from Google Photos app, the video preview comes up but the loading circle just keeps spinning. The same video through Photos app on my android phone on the same wifi connection doesn't have any problem and loads instantly.
I've tried some replacement apps and they seem to do the same or similar thing.
I have a fairly new SM-T810 (only a few months old) and this issue has always been this way...just haven't dug into the problem until now..
Overall, internet browsing on the table is relatively quick and if I go to a site like ESPN within Chrome and play a video on the page it loads fine.
I am currently using DHCP to my router, though I have tried manual setup. I am using a 192.168.1.XXX setup.
Through forums and Samsung, I've tried the normal clear cache/data, uninstall updates, restart tablet, factory reset tablet.....and nothing seems to resolve the issue.
If anyone has a suggestion, I'm certainly open to it. If more information is needed I can certainly make it available.
Thank you in advance.
The photos app is able to stream it direct from google servers, however I think it's only a preview and not full quality or it will play the local version.
3rd party apps will play it, but will download it first.
Samsung keeps saying the only way to fix this is to send them the device. I just find it hard to believe this is a hardware issue.
Seems like it's a software issue with the tablet itself or at least it's integration of handling videos. Smaller videos seem to load after a while (loading instantly on my android phone)...but large videos never load at all (after waiting minutes). Again, start playing within a second or so on my android phone.
