Hi guys.
Just wondering - how long are you supposed to get while the watch is tethered to your phone?
Mine is on nulrom v20 - which is great!
When tethered to my note3 - for notifications (email, phone etc) the battery lasts about 5 hours at the very most.
Is this right?
If so - not too impressed really - pretty pointless if the battery wont last a whole working day......
Let me know guys?

How about using tethering when you need it ? Why do you need tethering on your gear constantly anyway ? Of coarse your going to get bad battery life..
I get over 8 hours which lasts me a full day of work. Are you using any CPU management program like setcpu?

Yep. Whats your cpu settings. Got mine ondemand and 400-1600.
Maybe 200-1200 better?

I'm getting amazing battery life BT tethered with Null 20 as long as I leave the wrist motion turn-on disabled (with that on mine also dies in 5 hours)
I had mine tethered for 12 hours today (I don't need to, but I was just trying it out syncing gmail etc.), and still had 86% left on the battery readout.

I've used tethering since it was available. It hardly had any impact on the watch. My phone battery on the other hand got smashed

If you are connected just to receive your notification, as a standard gear would, then your battery should last over a day. You probably need to adjust your voltage settings to solve this. I have mine set to max 500Mhz. Then it seems to last like a stock gear.
If you are connected and using Bluetooth tether, which will give you access to browsing, playstore ect on the gear, then your battery will not last at all. Then your gear and phone should theoretically suffer.
How are people retethering? I've just been leaving mine on and can usually go about 2 days with the watch and daily on the phone. I like the idea of periodic tethering, but not sure how to set it up. Going into the settings and turning it on and off each time seems a bit painful?

this really isnt true. my Gear running null_22.1 with CPU set at Max 900 and Min 300 goes days not a day but days while connected to BT Tether the whole time.
here is a snapshot of my battery usage while being on BT tether the whole time.
Ok so with null_22.1 I have set the voltage at 200 min and 600 max. It's been bluetooth tethered for nearly 6 hours. Been getting email and text notifications since then and battery is on 71% The watch has actually been on since 7am this morning. Just not bluetooth tethered til 9:50. Am much happier with these results! Only problem is its zapping my note 3 battery!! Oh well. Cant have everything!

Tethering all day is a nice luxury, but it's not really required. The gear can be set up to notify you of messages from any app. If you see a notification that's worth addressing, just flip on the client side tethering. Use the widget "Bluetooth Tethering Toggle". It's a single button click on the Gear to enable or disable tethering. On the note side, leave bluetooth tethering on at all times. It will not use any extra battery. Battery is only consumed when the client is actively connected.

I find I can easily get a full days use with battery to spare with BT tethering all day however.

Couple issues here for me.
Bluetooth Tethering Toggle (widget)? correct? It doesn't indicate whether Tethering is on or off when I press it or am I missing something or possibly have the wrong app?
With Bluetooth tethering engaged on my gear, I drain rapidly at about a clip of 2% a minute battery :silly:

Unless you have the icon hidden like I do with NotifyClean, you should have an icon in the left side of your phone taskbar that comes on when BT tethering.(plus the widget should have a green ring around it)
the main purpose of the Gear is to notify you of any notifications you may have. Why disable tethering??

notifications come via BT standard setup. tethering comes in to play when you want more standalone phone like functions. with no tether you get email, fb, etc.. basically a notification from any app you choose on Gear. with tether added you can actually check email, post fb, use browser, all full internet type activities
Thanks mate, didn't know that small detail!

Turn off the wrist watch gesture and your fine. A normal use for me drains about 15-20% / 24h..
That's right ! Just turning off the wrist gesture to wake the gear the battery is consuming between 1 5 / 20 % a day / . Merry Christmas.

Yes. I have the motion activated... the trick is to turn the screen brightness all the way down. I get about 30% / 24hrs with the motion activated and the screen brightness down.

Thanks for the tip. I had motion deactivated to conserve battery but didn't like having to press the button each time to wake up the watch. 30% a day is not bad at all. I would even take 50%. Anything is better than the 24 hour time I've been seeing posted by reviewers. That worried me a bit. The good thing too is it charges fairly fast. So that 30% drain will be quick to recover.

Do you find that battery life on your connected phone suffers? I know keeping the BT radio on will have an impact, but I noticed I had to change some settings in JuiceDefender to allow the data connection to remain active so that S-Voice will work on the Gear. This, of course, means my phone's radio (data or wifi) is always on, when before I used to let JD turn it off while sleeping.
Haven't had the Gear long enough to tell whether or not this will have a serious impact but wondering if there are any tips? I tried finding a setting in JuiceDefender to only turn the radio on when the S-Voice is activated. Unfortunately, that doesn't work.
please help me.
after null_16 my battery life is short.
after 6 hour (only in watch mode without notify or other) my gear shut down.
could you give some tips for extend the battery life ?
thanks
If I turn off the motion wake feature my Gear will go three to four days easy but if I use motion it won't last longer than 12-14 hours. This is with moderate usage. I get probably a total of 30-40 emails and texts and other notifications a day and maybe 10 phone calls. (Most calls not answered on gear) maybe 3 a day. I would love to be able to use the watch without pushing the button. Even a tap on the screen to wake would be acceptable to me. The pebble uses a shake motion to wake which also is better than the Gear motion. I drive for a living and every turn of the steering wheel activates the screen. (Although battery life is not improved on days off.) if I side load apps will my battery life be severely shortened? And to the person who asked about the Bluetooth running all the time, it doesn't impact the battery life of my phone hardly at all.
Hi everyone,
I just bought my Gear 2 Neo 3 days ago and expected its battery use can be 3 days or so. I use the watch not much, just received emails and messages notification. I also turn steps function on and... That's it.
But I experience that my Gear 2 Neo battery use just only 1 day or 1 and half day.
Does somebody have experience like this? I think I would return the watch since charging for it every day is annoying me.
Thank you,

My gear 2 neo's battery life seems about right. It's using about 25% battery life per day. The issue that I'm having is that, since getting the gear 2, my phone's (s5) battery life has been horrible. Is anyone else experiencing this?

have read on other forums and the drain of gear 2 might be linked to android version 4.3

There is a similar thread in Gear 2 forum and there people are kind of convinced that it may be a version issue. But there is an issue with watch as well. I disconnected the watch from bluetooth before going to sleep and the battery has come down 4% in 8 hours. Without display and no updates/notifications, no sleep, pedometer etc this is rather too much.
Thanks for letting us know that 4.4.2 the battery is again pathetic.
Any fixes in sight anyone??
You guys must be doing something wrong, I got mine on saturday, gave it its initial charge till it was 100% and today is the first time I have had to charge it, so what's that some 5.5 days, and that's using the sleep function, having it as a silent alarm, using the heart rate monitor every other hour (on a drug that can cause increased heart rate) getting notifications, made 3 phone calls, sent 20 something text (via s-voice).
I have screen set at 2, vibrate (no sound), and on latest fw, it is connected to my Note 3 N9005 running 4.4.2 official ota ROM.
Try to make sure the pedometer is off guys, this could be your battery problem...

I don't know if we're doing something wrong, but there is a clear difference between results. It may be that the software is optimized for the Note, maybe other apps we've added, maybe the custom rom. . . Whatever --you're getting really exceptional life -don't change what you're doing! :good:
-- I full charged yesterday at about 1:40 pm, it is 10:20am, that ~21 hours (less 20min) and I am at 72%, so about 28% in 21 hours (including going to the gym and going out for the evening and finally an 8.5hour (measured) sleep cycle (watch blocking mode turned on while sleeping and wake up gesture is ON).
-- That's about 1.3% per hour, which would be great. However, my daytime use (Saturday going out and about) will likely be higher.
-- The only difference I did was I switch off Google Now notifications (but switched ON Business Calendar and simple calendar --so I still get my appointments sent) and deleted two apps I am not using (Feedly, eBay).
I would be happy with three days and would put up with 2.5 days; but anything less than two days/48 hours would be too much of a pain in the neck to stop and recharge. Even though I have the hour or so downtime to make it happen, having to pay attention and take that action every 48 would not be what I expected. . .Well. . . we'll see how it fairs without G Now today!
Try screen at 10 sec and wake by button only.

Guys, I think I know where the problem is. Im using GS3 paired to my Gear2Neo. At the beginning my G2N had a very slowly battery discharge. Since two days ago battery gone mad. It went down 4% per hour even I was not using it. Finally, after experimentnig with varios combinations I found that if you uninstall goproviders app (in aplication manager on your phone) you wont be able to receive Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc notifications but the battery will be back to normal. Ofcourse, I can still receive standard notifications (calendar, sms, email...), make or reject calls. In last 1,5 hour I lost 2-3% of battery with normal usage. For the conclusion, it is not BT but Gear manager bug. Hope they will make this work properly.
I'm still installing goproviders app but the battery is really good right now, 73% used in 75 hours.

With regards to my set up,
I have wake-up set to off (I work in an office and would constantly be on),
I have all notifications off (except call, alarm, SMS etc) only ones I have bar the std is gmail and facebook.
I use the sleep mode with notifications off
No pedo during the day (I have a fitbit one for that)
In my office im not allowed a phone, so as that is left in my car bluetooth is disconnected for about 7hrs a day (not turned off, just disconnected).
I check my heart rate every hour, I know its only a rough guide but still uses battery.
I have noticed since loading the minority report 24hr ultimate watchface (yes it does work, despite what the site says) my battery life has halved, so currently getting 2.5 to 3 days b4 I hit below 20%.
Screen is set to 2.
Notifications set to silent
One other thing to note, I seem to be getting a rash on my wrist, where the contacts on the back of the neo contact my skin. Anyone else getting this??

Wow! you have a very efficient setup --no wonder you are (were) getting such tremendous battery time! ( I need display brightness "3" to use it all day. Also, in the house or in an office, I turn off the motion-to-wake, but outside I do use it. . . )
Your adjustments also makes sense and may be a good part of your savings, since you don't have your phone in the office, and don't need to use the pedometer.
In general, I think that when we get the smart watch our first inclination is to load the watch up and do everything with every possible app! However, after a while, we sort out how we use the watch and can pare back the apps and notifications and make it more sensible, while improving battery life (a bit) too!
From what I have done on my Neo, I agree that using limited, selective notifications -and even selective app loading-- makes a difference in battery life.
I also noticed that different alternative watch faces seemed to drain the battery faster than the default options.
That's why, even after buying/trying several different watch faces; and even after using Breach 's great "create your own watch face thread," [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734747 ] , I went back to the stock (weather-time).
As to the rash... wow, I have had no irritation or rash or reaction on my wrist -even after working out with it on and sweating. (Wasn't that a problem with fit-bit or one of the other bands?).
Just to say I've never used the Gear with a Samsung device. I also updated it immediately to Tizen so have no idea what battery life would have been like on Android.
I'm using a Moto G LTE and the gear Manager and Stub apk. It's not rooted or modded in any way. It works fantastically but I'm finding that the battery doesn't even last a day. I have the Gear set up so it only lights up when I press the standby button so aside from incompatibilities or some problem with the flash I've no idea what the problem is. Just wanted to know if I should EXPECT poor battery life with a non-Samsung phone paired to the watch or if I should investigate re-flashing or going back to Android. The Gear is a lovely device but is a bit useless if I can't make it through the day. I'm already down to 91% and I only took it off charge two hours ago.
Does anyone have any advice? If I can expect the battery to be rubbish I might just order an Android Wear watch; though I actually prefer the extra functionality of the Gear.
Thanks in advance.

How do you mean? The only thing I use Bluetooth for is the watch, other than the odd occasion at home when I connect a Bluetooth speaker.
The only notifications I have it set to send to the device are Robird and Hangouts. Nothing else is set to notify me. Not even Gmail.
It's not tethered to the internet via my phone if that's what you mean. Not even sure that's possible on Tizen. It just is set to send notifications from two ticked third party apps and for phone calls. Brightness is set to 3 and auto wake with hand movement is switched off. Battery now down to 82% with basically no use whatsoever other than being connected.

Yes, I was talking about Bluetooth tethering to the internet which can really affect battery. On Android (not Tizen), I would expect battery usage to be about 2% per hour with very light usage.

OK, I did a hard reset via the recovery menu on the Gear and it seems to have improved things. Currently on 96% after over 4 hours. Still only have two apps set to give notifications - SMS and WhatsApp - and only when phone screen is off. Also still have auto screen activate switched off. Not really sure what sort of battery life to expect but this is better at least!
So I know there's a thread in the general forum for the Edge (all versions) but I figured with so many different variants, some have 4g, some don't etc., we could round up people's battery life on the Verizon version of the phone. I am running Clean Rom and these are the best stats I've had... greenify non essential apps, no gps unless i need it, wifi probably half the day, screen auto brightness, bluetooth always on connected to a moto 360. IDK how some people get 6, 7, or 8 hours of SOT but I have only gotten to 4 once... since running Clean Rom is seems to gradually getting better.. before Clean Rom I was struggling to get 3/3.5...

I've found that the stock power saving mode is very powerful, I just can't stand the framerate drop. I'm sure the battery savings would be fine if they could change the framerate back to normal. Speaking of which, is there any possible way to edit a configuration to change only the framerate for power savings mode?
Mine sleeps like a champ. I had about 20 hours off charger yesterday with a little over 2 hours SOT and was at about 47%. I was pretty surprised by that to be honest.

No one is getting 6+ hours SOT on an S6. If they say they are, they are flat out lying. Period.

Not true. .. I've gotten 6+ hours before in this phone. It really comes down to how you use your phone. If your using it for anything cpu or graphic intensive

Even on a stripped down rom, no apps installed, minimum screen brightness I haven't seen 6+ hours SOT.
So I refuse to believe it.

Cell service plays a big part as well. Right now I'm at 1.5hr and my battery is at 80%.

There's plenty of screen shots showing 6 hours.. I've seen 8. I think these people are disabling data for long periods of time tho... maybe even going into straight airplane mode.

I can't get 6-8 hours even in airplane mode. I tested it 4 times. But whatever, good for them I guess.
I'm back using my Droid Turbo as my main phone until the S6 gets updated (and hopefully a little better battery life). If not, it'll be on ebay soon after.

That matches my experience. If I'm in a strong signal area, battery life is very good. In a weak signal area, battery life isn't as good. Still, with quick charging, I've never actually had to worry about the battery.
my battery life was never good, i barely get through the day.
Thank for information

I was up and thought i could publish this to you All buying an s6. This season.
SEVERAL tips to saving battery life on the s6 edge.
1. Enable power saving mode
...Settings/Battery/check Enable power saving mode
2. Turn off wi-fi draining modes
...Settings/Wifi/click MORE IN upper right corner/Then choose Manage. There will be 3 options you will want to turn off
1.SMART NETWORK SWITCH
(This setting sounds like it's efficient but it's ? and kills the battery)
2.PASSPORT
(This setting enables the phone to look for passport enabled wifi hotspots so it "searches" for them all the time when you're out and about) its ?Turn it off.
3.ALWAYS ALLOW SCANNING
(Need I text more)
Its ?Turn it off.
FINALLY PLEASE GO TO
SETTINGS /APPLICATIONS /APPLICATION MANAGER and click on amazon suite disabling this keeps the phone from constantly contacting amazon. Please Just use amazon through your web browser.
Finally/
Click on ANT SERVICES and disable ! It's ?and makes your Verizon phone look for wifi
ALL THE TIME (when phone has poor signal from cell tower)
ANT+ Plug-in services. It's ?too lol!
Oh always use auto brightness.
I have had this s6 edge + set up this way for 2 months with no drawbacks or loss of functionality and it has literally added 2x the battery life.
There's one other thing that's up to you is the advanced calling feature. This enables HD voice and Data use while on a phone call. It does use more battery but is up to you whether or not you need that capability.

Thank you dude!! I did just the items above in bold and it has helped immensely. Here it is 11:50PM and it just started beeping low battery about 10 minutes ago.
I was lucky to make it to 6:30 PM before.
So I downloaded an app Called Google Connectivity Services.
Strangely this seems to put my radio to sleep, which it was not doing before.
Can anyone confirm this?
I've been running cleanROM for quite some time now and it seems that my battery is getting worse and worse. I'm lucky if I can get 8 hours out of my phone with not a lot of use. For example I'm down to 82% battery and I've been off charge for 37 minutes. That is absurd amount of drain. The biggest offender always seems to be cell standby. I've tried the enabling advanced calling but it doesn't seem to have helped. Looking at trying a different rom or maybe just doing a wipe and reinstall of cleanRom. Anyone have any suggestions?

Does disabling ANT services mess with wifi calling? That's the only reason I wouldn't want to turn it off if so.
The battery life on my phone has been straight up terrible, so I'm always looking for new ideas before getting fed up and getting a 6P.
Charged to 100% last night. Took it off charger at 3AM, never touched the phone til morning, and at 930AM, it was at 75%. 6% of that, the highest percentage, was due to "Android OS".
Meh.
Mine was terrible enough to bring me to these forums to see what was up. I wiped the cache and that fixed it. I'm back to 15-17 hours (4G and Bluetooth on, WiFi off)

I just got this watch and updated it. On the first day of real-world use, it sucked up around 10% an hour. At first I thought that this was normal, but when I looked at the battery stats Bluetooth had used 80 to 90 percent, while the others only used 1%. Are there any tips or way I can help with this? I did update to the beta version (the one with Android o as the base and not n) so if that's the issue I'm fine with that, it does make it to around 4 pm and I wake up at 6-7. This is a very good watch though. I had tilt to wake, aod, Bluetooth and wifi although wifi didn't appear to use much. Cellular is disabled because I don't have a plan for it.
I also just got this watch, and was concerned about the rapid battery usage. However it is now much better. This could be for 2 reasons, or one or the other. The first is that the initial pairing causes a lot of activity over Bluetooth while the watch updates and syncs all apps and may have just settled down. The other, and from advice on this forum, was that I disabled cloud sync (not that easy to find, go into Android Wear app on phone then Settings, then Privacy and Personal Data). Since then the battery life has improved vastly. Hope that helps.

At least you get something other than Bluetooth. I'm on the beta as well as now I get nothing but Bluetooth listed. I had major drain and thought it might be because I tried sideloading apps via Bluetooth. Whatever it was I couldn't figure it out. Factory reset and I'm back to normal

Yea today I woke up at the same time and before, at 3 I would be charging it from 5%. Today, it's 6 and it's at 33. I did disable cloud sync and a weather complication. I also disabled NFC. Other than that I dont remember changing anything else.
You don't happen to be using a Pixel 2 XL?

Having a very similar problem and I am indeed using a PIxel 2 XL, is there something you know about this?
I started a thread in the questions section for battery consumption, which still shows on the first page. The biggest consumers of the battery I've found are the Bluetooth/wifi radios and Tilt to Wake Sensor. That TtW Sensor was sucking down about 4% of the battery just on its own. The best configuration I've found is no wifi, no TtW sensor, no bluetooth, using LTE combined with AT&T NumberSync, from which I get approximately 24 hours. If you want to see other configurations that have been tried and reported, you can check out the other thread.

I've had pretty decent battery life on my watch (depending on what it's doing in a day) but today the thing was dead in less than 7 hours and it shows it's all from Bluetooth. So, riddle me this....do I even need to be synced via Bluetooth when I have NumberSync? What are the advantages/disadvantages (besides battery drain) to leaving Bluetooth on and connected to my phone?

Sounds like something wasnt letting it sleep
Do what I do. Every 2-3 days do a restart of the watch just keeps things fresh.
Mine can easily last 2 days if stretch it. Normally I'm around 50% by the time I get home after 12 hours
Thanks for the advice! I'll start that routine tomorrow and see how it works out.
