Tried Cyanogen 10.2 d2spr
Sprint Galaxy s3 L710
Android 4.3
Odin 1.85
Got superuser and used goomanager w twrps
made backups
Tried to flash cyanogen and i got error missing md5
tried a fix where you edit the updater-scripts in the cyanogen zip and that didnt work
Then I read that switching to cws would fix the problem, I read that you can d/l the cws zip and use twrps to flash it
Basically I was way over my head and shoulda kept the restore to stock option because that WAS working
Phone wont boot normal. volumeup and power and menu just flashes"recovery booting" or something really fast in the top left corner and shuts back off
Idk... Odin doesnt recognize the phone anymore
Definitely dont know what im doing anymore.

As it says in the title.
I have an orange (uk) branded SGS,( Three button recovery disabled) I'd rooted it and was running a rom but it was buggy, so I dragged new version to the sd card, wipe etc and on startup clockwork recovery won't boot/load and if I just try to start the phone normally it gets stuck in a FC loop on startup, meaning I cannot do anything with the phone.
I can boot into recovery via usb to recovery Utils but wiping does nothing and flashing a zip (no options what) tried to install clockwork mod, but it just hangs...
I'm stuck, there are roms etc on the sd to flash, but I cannot get to them...
Tried via Kies but it doesn't see the phone...
Help please....
Cheers.
haha I just posted exactly the same message. Seems we are stuck in the same boat buddy
Hey mate. got a solution for you.
First go to the development section of the i9000. Download a rom that takes your fancy (I know have 2.2 froyo!) Then boot your phone into download mode. (Turn on while holding power button, volume button down and centre button.
It should now have the android fella with a shovel.
On your PC open up odin, (should be in the pack of the rom you d'lded).
Fill in all the files in Odin.
Click go and flash the new firmware, jobs a good un!
Im at work at the moment but if you get stuck let me know and i'll reply to the thread tonight.
I don't have a three button mode, Orange disabled it.....
I don't actually know what Odin is? I have Kies on the pc, but always used rom manager after dragging roms to the sd card.
Looking like I ring the Orange business support and cry wolf....
Edit, downloading odin now....
I have been able to previously flash custom roms such as Cognition V.2 and Cappy's GingerBread ROM, but just recently i tried to flash Cognition V.3 on my Captivate and im unable to even enter recovery mode to flash the new ROM. Ive tried all ways to get my phone in recovery mode including the power button and volume button idea. And when i do try to flash to recovery mode, the ATT world phone screen comes up and it seems to freeze on that screen until i remove the battery.
How can i get out of this problem? Any questions, just ask because im not the best at describing things like this.
If you backed up everything use odin to flash to stock and proceed from there.
I probably should have told you that i only have a mac...im stuck arent I?
Any way you can use boot camp to boot up windows?
I ran into a similar problem some time back when trying to install an upgraded rom. For whatever reason, I had to reinstall Rom Manager to get the clockwork recovery to work. Dunno if you use anything like this, but just a thought.
Additionally, if you get rom manager you can reboot into recovery through it, as opposed to using the traditional method.
its strange because even from rom manager when i press the button to send my phone into recovery, it still goes to the att screen and freezes..
Google heimdall sgs. Program to flash stock on mac. Not as easy as odin
So ive just tried to install heimdall on my mac and it says it cannot run because my mac is not updated...i ran an update scan and there are no new updates and im also running the most up to date OS for mac. What do i do??
You are going to have to ask that question on the heimdall thread

What is your recent history in terms of Rom & recoveries installed, other errors encountered... ?
Did you do any formats, wipes, factory resets, and if so, in what environment (android, recovery, adb, ...)

Have you tried simple options like restarting the pc, reinstalling tab's drivers, ...

I had the same issue after upgrade to US stock ICS and attempt to install CWM recovery resulted in a tablet that would not boot. Rebooted into recovery mode, rebooted from there to download mode and tried the Odin flash again using the US stock ICS. Each time I did this it got a bit further (as indicated by the download bar on the tablet screen) and eventually it succeeded. I am no expert so I completely fail to understand why this worked but it did.

Just like i said before.. In warning: Do not wipe or anything related to that if youre in ICS..
With stock kernel or stock recovery or One of them but you still in stock ICS boot.img wiping is risky..
if you use a safe recovery but your boot.img is not safe. ..or your boot.img is safe but recovery.img isnt. .
Your still have the emmc bug risk..
Stuck on system.img means odin not recognized your system partition.. Maybe corrupted or faulty..
Please read my warning in general section..

i took a thin box cutter blade and ran it around the edge of the screen while gently pushing out and pulling up... the screen easily separates from the back cover.... behind the screen is a white battery with small mutil colored wires...gently pull up the wires from the mainboard..... battery is now disconnected.... to put back just push those wires back down onto its connectors....
to completely remove there are screws running along the battery... and two ribbons...detach ribbons and unscrew battery
same problem
i have the same problem how do u use adb to install rom?

This thread saved my ass. I too was stuck at the system.img.
Tried to restore using ADB but no joy. I was still able to access the download mode so kept trying ODIN.
It turned out to be my USB 3.0 ports on my laptop.
As soon as I used my USB 2.0 ports on my docking station ODIN worked fine!

if odin hangs up halfway through the process, what u have to do is install stock recovery through odin.... then go in to recovery and format data...go back to odin and install clockwork recovery.... go back into recovery and mount system and mount data... next download a app called quick adb pusher on to pc select the rom u want to push... under destination type /data/media/ press send and install ur rom
Failed with Odin 3.09, worked with Odin 3.07
I don't know if this will help.
I needed to re-flash my SM-T310 with the Kitkat 4.4.2 Stock ROM. I found a page suggesting I used Odin 3.09 and the stock ROM pointed to from the Samsung site. I started the load, and saw the same problem, my Odin Log looked just like the one posted earlier. Out of sheer desperation, I started again using the version of Odin (3.07) I had previously used to load TWRP.
And it worked perfectly. Loaded the various components, rebooted, came up with the initial screen ... Phew !!
Maybe I just had some sort of nasty glitch, maybe Odin 3.07 is a bit less picky (!) I have no idea. All I know is it worked for me !!
I had this same problem - got stuck on system.img very near the end, stayed there for hours. Finally fixed it by attaching the usb cable to a different port *d'oh*
same problem stuck in system.img

OK... so a couple of days ago a friend of mine screwd my phone when he tried to install clockwork recovery without rooting, I was stuck at Samsung logo, no recovery, only download mode... so today after going through tons of threads so I could use Odin with ace on win8.. I finnaly managed to un**** it... so I could re**** it again... so I followed this thread after reviving the phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
After rooting and instaling cw, I tried to install a ROM on it, namely nightly cm (found somewhere here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188679)... I got a status 7 error cause of the assertion, which in removed, after successfully installing the ROM (or so recovery mode said) I tried reboting and it no longer turned on. Doesn't seem to charge and it won't boot...
The only things I can think of that i did wrong were:
Having under 50% battery life
Not removing sim card
PS: also before installing ROM I cleared caches and reset to fact. Settings
Any ideas on how to fix this? If not, what did I do wrong here?
EDIT: ok so i think i figured out what i did, i wanted to download this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199575 ... i went to the "external webstie" to download, and i think i downloaded this rom "android cm_skate-userdebug-cm-10.2 (stable)" which it seems its not for my phone :S ...
Is it possible to boot into download mode now? would a usb jig work? something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8822843&postcount=1
Or is it a lost cause?
Thanks...
PS: oh god, to think i removed the assertion that was saving my phone... ahh **facepalm** , why didnt i read the damn assertion...

If you want to use stock rom again then flash stock rom via odin through download mode. to get to download mode, press volume down + home + power button at the same time until it shows a small "downloading..." word. For further info, How to upgrade, root & flash Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830

Thanks for the answer, i know the "shrotcut", as i said in the op i used odin allready, but the big issue is the phone does not react to the power button, idk what the rom i installed did, if its bricked or if its just expecting a different input rather than the supposed power button, in which case the jig should work...
Hello!
I was trying to root my samsung galaxs s4 active (GT-I9295). I installed usb drivera and used odin 3.07 and cwm v1-2(CWM-Recovery-gt-i9295_v1-2.tar.md5). I turned my phone off and back on with volume down pressed and then confirmed with volume up, after that I plugged in usb cable(original one) and launched odin with administrative rights. In odin I clicked PDA and added the downloaded .tar.md5 file, then I pressed start and it flashed the file on the phone and rebooted the phone. After the phone booted and asked me for pin a popup showed saying couldn't download, try again later. To make myself sure I restarted my phone with volume up being pressed and it opened android recovery, not cwm. I tried the same thing on multiple pcs and usb ports(I even tried on linux but didn't get far because as it seems heimdall doesn't accept .tar.md5 ). I even tried using another cwm image(recovery_6.0.4.7.tar.md5).
Does anyone have an Idea what could be causing this?

Try a different cable, try a different version of Odin (3.08 is the one I used). Can you better describe what happens when you boot now? Does it boot to your ROM normally or do you get a black screen or does it boot loop, etc.
I will try and use another cable(the one I used to flash nexus 7), I already tried using other versions of odin but results were the same. After flashing I can boot normally there is no bootloop or black screen or anything like that, the only problem is that i cant get into cwm - when I try to (power + volume up) it doesn't put me into cwm recovery but it puts me in stock android system recovery. It also seems like that odin does something since when I go to ota update menu it says device was changed and when I go in download mode it says im using custom something, I can't really remember now :-/ but i think it says custom firmware and custom bootloader(don't take me for granted on that!). So yeah the only problem is a) cwm isn't installed or b) im too stupid to get into cwm
