[Q] Chinese HTC One 802?? - Single sim version? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Folks,
I have a feeling I have been done over
I bought what I thought was a HTC One 802w DUAL sim phone on Aliexpress... I received the phone today and to my surprise it looks like a "normal" single HTC One, which I certainly wouldn't have needed to go to China for. I could buy one locally.
I say "looks like" rather than "is", because I have a growing feeling that the phone is actually a fake / clone. As far as I know there isn't / wasn't a single sim varient ever released in China - can someone please confirm this? It's got Chinese bloatware on the phone so it's for the Chinese market...
Also I just came across a webpage that I can't post the link to because I don't have 10 posts yet... If you Google "htc one china single sim card" and click on the first link (ksrplayer.com)
It looks VERY similar, in fact it looks IDENTICAL to what I received.
Thanks,
Mike

Looking on the back of the phone it shows it as an "801n / PN07100" - was this version ever relased in China?
As far I can see it wasn't. Apart from being I got delivered the wrong phone, I want to establish if I've been sent a fake / clone... I still think I have.
Thanks

is not a fake, is only single sim 3g version, maybe you can put some pictures

buying new HTC diamond touch? Check it for me Please..

My wife wanted this phone so I am looking on the internet and run into newegg has one for sale $530.00 shiping included. Is this a HTC that you use Sim card? My wife has T-Mobile.....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875502009
Check it please to make sure I buy the right one...
Any suggestion for additional software to use..
Yes, the HTC Touch Diamond you are looking at uses SIM card, and T- Mobile is what I used, too. The model shown seems like an EU model (pics too small to tell), and the difference between EU and US model is summarized at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432532. If you live in the US and you plan to use 3G data connection in the US, then you need to consider the US model, with AT&T however (NOT T-Mobile).
I strongly suggest you call and make sure the ROM has been upgraded to the newest (1.93) already. If not, you want to make sure it's HTC Touch Diamond P-3700 (UK origion) so that you can upgrade to the newest ROM by yourself if chosen to do later.
Be carefol, since both the US and the EU diamonds are incompatible with the T-Mobile US network. There is a long discusson about this in the forum (search it).

T-mobile TP2 worldwide use

dear Forum
I am living in Switzerland, and i got from a US friend his "old" TP2 because he bought the new i-phone...
now i am here in Europe and can't use it because it only accepts T-Mobile SIM cards (which we don't have in Switzerland).
Moreover i am travelling quite often because of my profession and i'm usually buying local SIM's....
Does anyone know if there is a ROM which unlocks this device?
would be great if this also contains TomTom or CoPilot navigation as i own those licences arelady frommy previous device.
As I know there are two versions of TP2:
- the "normal" HTC
- the T-mobile version which got brownish color and lacks a front cam....
my question is specifically about the brownish T-mobile version.
thanks for your help

There is no ROM that will unlock your phone for you. You have to either call T-Mobile and get them to unlock the phone for you or ask your friend to call T-Mobile for the unlock code, OR you can pay to have it unlocked by providing the IMEI number to someone who knows how to unlock it. Also, ROMs generally do not come cooked with TomTom or CoPilot, so you'd have to install those separately. I'm sure if you looked around you could find the cab files to install them.
that's interesting... my old diamond came with simlock from a local carrier... after flashing it with an open ROM, the simlock was gone...
that's why I am asking if there is simlock-free ROM for this specific type of TP2...
for the "normal" one i saw plenty ROM's but because of the differences i am sceptic if they would work.
thx for ur hints
You don't need a ROM, you need to SIM-unlock your device. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555339

Buy HTC One in Australia

As the title says, i want to buy a htc one in austrlia (i'm going there next month). I found out that i can buy two different models, the 801s or the 801e, but online i haven't found anything about. what are the differences, and i'm going to have problems when i'll come back in italy with the htc one?
I bought through mobileciti.au a 801s for 700AUD and I am using it in Europe with no problems (2g, 3g and 4g) so I think it will all be fine if you get that model. And I have a perfect phone (no red tint, no gaps or anything). Hope that helps. :good:

No, on the box there is no specific information regarding the region. If your extremely particular about getting the UK version, then you should buy it from the official HTC store. It costs 500 pounds

Received a bootleg P10 from Amazon. At least I think.

Ordered a P10 from Amazon with a specific "VTR-L29" plastered all over the title and in the description. Received the phone 5 days later with prime shipping, went to boot it up and the dreaded "Your device has failed verification and may not work properly." Immediately I became skeptical. I looked on the back of the phone and checked the IMEI online. Sure enough it was an VTR-AL00. At this point I figured I might as well look at the phone while I'm at it. Phone booted up and got to the initial setup screen congratulating me for using a VTR-L29. I went into the settings where it also stated it was a L29. Below that it has both IMEIs listed and both being AL00.
I want to say it's no big deal but to be honest it really pisses me off. Is this a custom global rom on a chinese version of the phone? When looking at the differences the Chinese version appears to have less accessible frequency bands. What would you do if you were me?
Thanks.

It's entirely possible that the band support is different, but for the most part, all I'm particularly aware of as far as differences go is which build of EMUI it's running. One thing that I've seen pretty commonly with devices from China is that if they're being exported someone will figure out how to load a global ROM on it so that things like Google Play can be loaded. (Almost all of the sellers on sites like AliExpress do this, and it's quite likely that some on Amazon do as well.)
Also - if it is actually an AL00 model, unless they went so far as to change the actual case, the model is printed pretty clearly on the back; the L29 would also have additional markings on the back.
Regardless, unless the place you got it didn't do the rebranding process correctly, as far as I've ever been able to tell it doesn't make too much difference. (I've rebranded a few Mate 9s to AL00, actually, so I could flash the EMUI 9 betas; advantage to having a Chinese region is FRP lock won't come biting you later.)
If I were you, I'd go take a double check on the page you found it on - most Chinese sellers that I've seen post that it's originally Chinese stock that they've changed the software on to a global version; beyond that, any hardware differences are likely to be cosmetic. (The title says L29, the description says "it was originally AL00 or DL00, but we rebranded it for worldwide use" or something similar. They'll do that with AL00 models primarily, as the DL00 models have a China Mobile logo on the back.)
