If you update via Flashtool then just uncheck "Wipe Data" and you will not lose any of them, if you use PC Companion then yes, it will wipe all.

This is really weird. Are you sure you did all right? It asking you to install the apps so you can restore data, in some way is not that bad. Try to install the apps first, if you log with the same account you will not have to pay again if you paid for some app, and then restore again.

When you flash it with Flashtool, unselect wipe DATA, anyway you can backup your phone with your google profile, that will auto redownload all your apps.

Thanks for that.
I thought Google only backs up app data, but not the apps themselves? And the order of apps on my launcher would also get lost. I have yet to find a backup solution that really backs up everything, just like iTunes does....

Wrong, also using Titanium means you have rooted your phone.
i have xperia zr c5502 running on stock android 4.3 mea .after flashing either 4.1 or 4.2.2 using flashtool my phone continuosly reboots while it is in the boot animation but when i reflash a 4.3 rom it works again..i want to downgrade to 4.1 or 4.2.2 to regain root is there any way you can help me??
i want to downgrade according to Sijav method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590174
for downgrading you have to erase the entire system. it's not like just updating. wiping datas is probably required too

Titanium Backup needs root, right ? Maybe with Sony PC Companion, depending on the data you want to save.

my apps and there datas because i dont want to reinstall all my apps again from zero point.
If your phone is backup with your google account, all the apps will be automatically installed after flashing. But you still need to backup the data of your apps if needed...
in settings > backup and reset you have the option to export datas to google servers. apps will downloaded again, as well as your contacts. be sure they are synchronised in settings > accounts > google, just in case...
I've never used pcc for saving so I can't help for this.

Probably if you Repair via PC Companion you will lose Root so I think there is a problem with the Rom. Try instal it again and wipe everything.

It will be close to impossible as the issue can be an App that causes the problem or can be the System corrupted. Also you are using a Pre-Rooted Rom so repair with PCC can complicate the situation. I don't see at the moment any other solution. Maybe someone who had this problem know how to fix it, if so.

When i make a back-up using Sony Bridge and then root my phone. Will i lose root restoring the back-up from sony bridge?
thanks in advance
does someone have an answer to my noob question?
did you have root when you made the backup?
Yes you did
So if you restore back to that point, guess what...You will have root.

Again, you cannot do a backup without root, you must mean you have backed up some app data. That will not get rid of root either as it is not a full system backup, you need root in order to do that.

OK, That's not a "Backup" of your system, its just some files, it will not replace your system files, hence will not touch root.
It will just replace your contacts, messages, pictures and such

Ok, thanks for your help! I am going to root my device using the methode you said 100 times to people but i just wanted to make a 'back-up' before i do it so i don't lose anything after i rooted.
Maybe a last question if you dont't mind? am i using the best methode so i won't lose anything?
Your contacts are auto backed upto your google account anyway
Then I would just copy and paste all my pictures onto my PC
You can use smartSMS bacup to backup your messages to your google account as well.
That's all I ever do.

I tried that and it hasn't worked? Am I maybe being too impatient? Got about 470 things to reinstall but waited half an hour and didn't go past the first app?

If you using the full version of Titanium Backup, select the batch option then Click the Run button with Restore all apps with data. Click the deselect all apps. Then you tick the one you want to restore.

Go back to old rom and back up with swift. See if swift can do it although I don't see the reason why titanium backup can't
