[Q] a problem in downgrading from 4.3 on c5502 - Sony Xperia ZR

i have xperia zr c5502 running on stock android 4.3 mea .after flashing either 4.1 or 4.2.2 using flashtool my phone continuosly reboots while it is in the boot animation but when i reflash a 4.3 rom it works again..i want to downgrade to 4.1 or 4.2.2 to regain root is there any way you can help me??
i want to downgrade according to Sijav method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590174

for downgrading you have to erase the entire system. it's not like just updating. wiping datas is probably required too

do i need to wipe my data or cache or both and is there any way to preserve my data??

yeah, wiping cache may avoid conflicts. there are several ways to save datas, the most popular is titanium backup

Titanium Backup needs root, right ? Maybe with Sony PC Companion, depending on the data you want to save.

my apps and there datas because i dont want to reinstall all my apps again from zero point.

If your phone is backup with your google account, all the apps will be automatically installed after flashing. But you still need to backup the data of your apps if needed...

in settings > backup and reset you have the option to export datas to google servers. apps will downloaded again, as well as your contacts. be sure they are synchronised in settings > accounts > google, just in case...
I've never used pcc for saving so I can't help for this.

When you flash it with Flashtool, unselect wipe DATA, anyway you can backup your phone with your google profile, that will auto redownload all your apps.

Thanks for that.
I thought Google only backs up app data, but not the apps themselves? And the order of apps on my launcher would also get lost. I have yet to find a backup solution that really backs up everything, just like iTunes does....

[Q] Questions about upgrading from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2!?

Hi guys,
i have unbranded locked Xperia Z with .253 4.1.2 rooted (via DoomLord Easy rooting toolkit) Android and i'm seriously think about upgrading to 4.2.2 but my questions are!?
Will i loose all my data, settings and apps if i update via SonyPCC,will i loose rooting of my phone (i already install OTA RootKeeper) and will i loose CWM???
How is better to perform the upgrade via the PCC or SEUS or via the XZ interface,FlashTool maybe??
Is it necessary to Restore Factory Default settings and to wipe all my data before and after the upgrade process, and how to do it,through the phone or through the CWM!?
Which is the best way to backup all my apps, settings and data via Nandroid backup,PCC or Titanium backup??
Is there a chance some of my apps to not work after the upgrade?
Should i eject my SD card before doing the upgrade or Factory reset,i don't want to loose the data on it??
I read all the pages from the thread but there isn't any clear answer to my questions.
Please answer me or point me to a thread that all of this is explained?
10x in advance
Regards godjak

Answers:
1 - No as far as i know.
2 - I suggest you to use Titanium Backup.
3 - See answer number 1.
4 - No and No.
Hope that help.
PD: Seems that it is your first Android phone LOL
You only will lose data if you use sus. With pcc or ota you won't lose data. If you use ota update you should keep root but if not it's easy to root again. In any case you will lose cwm but it's as easy as rooting to flash it again.

Updating, not repairing, the phone doesn't delete your phone's data. It is THE same as PCC if you are only Updating, only the manner to do it changes, but not much...
If you Flash an entire FTF, that's the way you loose the data, as it erases your phone's internal Memory, eMMC, completely.
On the other hand, if you select only SYSTEM in flashtools, it Will update your phone.
I already tried it, and works flawlessly

If you update via Flashtool then just uncheck "Wipe Data" and you will not lose any of them, if you use PC Companion then yes, it will wipe all.

This is really weird. Are you sure you did all right? It asking you to install the apps so you can restore data, in some way is not that bad. Try to install the apps first, if you log with the same account you will not have to pay again if you paid for some app, and then restore again.

It will be close to impossible as the issue can be an App that causes the problem or can be the System corrupted. Also you are using a Pre-Rooted Rom so repair with PCC can complicate the situation. I don't see at the moment any other solution. Maybe someone who had this problem know how to fix it, if so.

Yes. You'll lose it since you have to wipe the caches and the user data.
But be sure you're using the latest CWM recovery available for your device if you're trying to flash CM11 (android 4.4) or you may not be able to flash it... Or something worse.
If you wanna save your data, backup with Titanium Backup (look for it on the Store)
