I keep trying to install the new KitKat update but it keeps failing every time.
It'll start installing slowly with a blue progress bar, then suddenly the screen will show a red triangle with an exclamation point and then restart.
I've tried this about 5 times now and the same thing happens each and every time.
I was wondering if anyone had a fix for this.
I have not rooted or modified my phone at all

When the 4.4.2 RUU is released on the HTC website you could use that to update but it will wipe your phone... Or you could use the 4.3 RUU wipe the phone then OTA to 4.4.2 either of those should work but they will both wipe the phone.

I have a G1 that was given to me stuck on the exclamation point screen.
I've tried various update.zip methods, When i try to update it says it can't read from the recovery. It'll install the update like normal it seems, but then when it reboots, go right back to the exclamation point screen.
It was never rooted. Not sure what version was on it when it bricked
I've searched the forum all day trying to find a thread like this.
Does anyone have any insight into how to fix this?
Thanks

Should be the home button in this case. If it was the camera he'd see rainbows, with home it takes you to recovery (the ! screen)
exactly. thanks for the help.
I replaced the buttons and now everything works.
I bought an unlocked HTC One. I get the notification for OTA, I download it as well. When the installation starts, the phone reboots, and installation starts. Around 25% later, it reboots again, tries to install again and after 25%, it stops and gives that warninign error sign and stays there. If I leave the phone alone, it will reboot and start working again after 3-4 mins. Then I will again get the OTA notification and the saga continues. I have tried doing many things like resetting, erasing phone and starting afresh etc. I have not done any mod on the phone...Please help someone...
Is a custom recovery installed?

Nope....I have not changed anything on the phone. Its whatever it had when I bought it brand new off the shelf....
Im posting here because I am not sure this is phone specific issue, but if you guys could help me that would be great.
Long story short i screwed up my phone, cant recover with rsd so used fastboot...blah blah blah Its up and running except one thing.
WHen the phone boots I see the motorola Logo....but thats it, I hear the droid doing the weird machine startup,,,i plug the phone in to the computer and it recognizes it, i even called from another phone and it rings...
I just cant see anything it black, I also get haptic feedback on the buttons.
I fxz'd with the latest update from verizon...I boot into recovery and i see the little android man, i Islo see the white letters on bootloader, its just when the rom actually loads its a black screen?
If anybody could help i would appreciate it.

from my understanding once you go to JB there is no going back.. Were you getting any errors when you fxz? mine would get an error at step 5 and stop. their was a separate image file for that error which I used and it worked fine. It's on the page. I have bricked mine 3 or 4 times and it always came back to life. I really like this phone. wish it wasn't nearing the end of it's life for support. Times I thought mine was a gonner but it always came back. try redownloading the fxz file.
Please help if you can. I downloaded the 4.3 update that was released for tmobile yesterday and pressed install. So the phone turned off and started the update then i got that red triangle with an exclamation point over the phone. Ever since then when i turn it on, it just stays on the HTC logo startup picture. My phone was completely stock and never messed with. PLease help if you can.
You can try to do a factory reset, but you will lose you sdcard...
Oh yeah and i did a factory reset. It does the same thing with the red triangle. I called tmobile and they are gonna send me a new one but it is gonna take about a month.
Umh, strange issue...
And bad assistance from tmob...

So I bought a LG G2 today and all was fine until it asked if I wanted to do an OTA. I figured, why not its COMPLETELY stock. The only thing I did to the phone was a factory reset when I bought it then connected to my wifi and updated all the stock apps to the updated version. At that point it asked me if I wanted to perform the OTA so I hit Install now. It went through 1/2 with no problem but on 2/2 of the update it gets to 13% and brings me to a screen with a blue line over about 1/4 inch of the top of the screen and gives about 15 lines of files or directories that are not found. It acts like a bad flash. I have tried a hard reset and still brings me to the update screen after I select Yes twice. My pc's (yes multiple) will not even acknowledge its there. How can this happen on a completely stock verizon phone with a factory verizon OTA?? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
10 of the errors start with FOTAFS_Open /system/lib/librs.
There different from there on. The rest of the errors are the cache partition.
Like I said to me it sounds like a bad flash but what now? I'm stumped!
