Why are you using safestrap when you have an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER!? Just use fastboot and flash a custom recovery

Don't know why, lol, im new to this and following tutorials...
By using fastboot you mean a hold volume down and power right? Im not sure.. but i think I bricked it because computer don't recognize the phone ..as i said it only show motorolas message about unlock bootloader, then it blinks, show the message again, and then the dead green android. And the process repeat all the time. ..

hold the buttons doesnt work....
phone doesnt even turn off... it stays in infinite loop...
warning Bootloader unlocked message.... then it blinks after a minute.... message shows again... then it blinks again, and there is the laying droid... and then after some minuts.... screen blinks... and there is the unlocked bootloader warning again...
Should I close the coffin?
at least it wasnt my gs4....
To get the phone to power off when it's in a bootloop, try holding down the power button until it vibrates, then let go.
Are you able to get into fastboot by holding volume up+volume down+power?

Hey guys!!! thank you for your patience!! my atrix hd is finally back!
as I told you, after i flashed cyanogenmod, the device was stuck in bootloader unlocked warning message. I thought the battery was dying, so I put to recharge.
For my surprise, after a quick nap, cyanogenmod was ready to go!!!
I dont know why it took so long to start, all I know its fully functional now!
Thanks again, you guys make difference, i wish i can learn to help others here too.

Hello. I want to install the latest stable Cyanogenmod version 7.2.0 on my Nexus One which was up to now unlocked with stock software.
I followed instructions up to this point:
Installed Android SDK
Installed (downloaded) fastboot
Unlocked phone - bootloader now shows UNLOCKED, and the opened padlock symbol appears when powering up.
Downloaded and transferred recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img
Up to this point all was ok. However when I select RECOVERY (from within BOOTLOADER) and press the POWER button, the phone reboots and I end up with a green android, a white triangle and yellow exclamation mark. The phone basically sticks there and I have to remove the battery. A photo is attached for your reference.
I also downloaded and transferred recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-passion.img However the same thing happens.
So basically I am stuck at this point. I can only remove the battery, and reboot the phone using the stock ROM.
What do you recommend?
hw did you transfer recovery.img? was it successfully flashed?

Hi,
i transferred it using cmd prompt with command fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img and it was successful.
The same applies to when i transferred the recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-passion.img
What do you recommend?
White triangle and yellow exclamation mark means that you still have stock recovery, so the custom recovery flash did not work. When you see the triangle and exclamation mark you should push and hold both the Volume Up and Power Button (give it a few tries). Not that this will help you, but you don't have to pull the battery anymore
What do you see when you type fastboot devices in the command prompt when your phone is in fastboot mode?

Hi,
I run fastboot by starting a command prompt and changing to directory:
c:\users\xxxxxx\appdata\local\android\android-sdk\platform-tools
when I type fastboot devices i get the following reply:
HT05DP800931 fastboot
when I type fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-passion.img i get the following reply:
sending recovery (3058 kb)
OKAY [ 0.499s]
writing 'recovery'....
OKAY [ 1.140s]
finished. total time 1.647s
So I assume the transfer is ok.
Is the path mentioned above correct?
Any idea what could be wrong?
All seems okay to me like that.. Could you try to flash 4EXT recovery? Make sure the recovery.img is in the same folder as fastboot (c:\users\xxxxxx\appdata\local\android\android-sdk\platform-tools). When it's finished, type fastboot reboot-bootloader and then navigate to recovery..

Hello Tommert38,
Immediately after i sent my last post i tried again RECOVERY and to my surprise it worked! I proceeded with Backup, Wipe Factory and installed zip from SD card (first Cyanogenmod and then Google apps).
Everything seems to work, apart from MARKET. I can browse apps, however when i select any app and try to download it, I get error message "app name" could not be downloaded due to an error.
I googled for similar problems and found a post on xda developers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724463
However i cannot find a solution.
Can you help?

good . might be rom/gapps issue

I had similar problems with the white triangle/yellow exclamation mark.
Started with N1, never modified. Trying to run Recovery took me straight to triangle.
Unlocked bootloader, then tried to load ClockworkMod before rooting, as some tutorial told me to. File transferred without error, but still went straight to triangle when trying to run.
Rooted with SuperOneClick.
Went back and loaded CWM again with command line fastboot, again no error but still went to triangle when trying to run.
Downloaded Rom Manager (free) from app store, used it to install CWM. This actually worked for a few times, then it too started going directly to triangle when trying to run. It might have started failing when data was wiped, not sure.
Loaded the Amon Ra recovery tool using fastboot, it has worked reliably so far. Went on to load CGM 7.2 plus the apps, that was uneventful.
Some tutorial claimed you needed to load android-sdk directly under C:, not sure that's really required, but that's what I did.
Dave
That's happening most likely because all the participants of this thread are using stock ROM, and instead of booting to recovery directly from fastboot after flash, they first loaded the ROM and then tried to go to recovery.
Almost 3 years back, when actual developers with knowledge were all around this forum, it was a common knowledge that stock ROM overwrites the recovery on each boot, and to stop it from overwriting one should delete the stock recovery image that is used for that from the ROM. Also, booting to recovery directly after it was flashed and removing the stock recovery image from a ROM was a known way to avoid this kind of problems. I didn't try it, but I believe Google can still help finding these pieces of information, and Wiki definitely still holds them.
Well, I guess nobody reads the Wiki these days.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...ages#For_unlocked_bootloader_-_using_fastboot
What really disturbs me is that the thread went to 2nd page without even a hint for this answer, while it's all that simple to get to - "Wiki -> Recovery", and here you have it.

I'm afraid I may have bricked my phone but good this time.
I had gone through the unlock, flash recovery, etc process a few months ago. Today I downloaded and installed what I think is a rom that was not intended for my phone and everything went south.
I am still able to boot into bootloader, and I can select FASTBOOT and plug the phone in. It switches to FASTBOOT USB, so I type
fastboot erase cache
That seems to work fine so I next type
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-m7.imp
I get sending 'recovery'
OKAY
writing 'recovery'
OKAY
finished.
Swell So I power down and reboot to fastboot, then select recovery. I get a flash of the TWRP screen, then it goes blank and it tries to boot to the OS. Since there isn't one I get stuck at the htc quietly brilliant logo screen. (I'm not feeling particularly brilliant at the moment).
I just flashed openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img and the same thing happened. I went back to 2.5.0.0-m7 and the same thing.
Am I screwed beyond repair or is there a way to fix this? Perhaps I'm using the wrong recovery image? If so can someone point me to the right one and where I might be able to download it from? I like TWRP a lot but their website is not the best I've ever seen.

You could try downloading the dev edition RUU and running it to get your phone to a working stock. After that, you could flash your specific rom to get back to your native stock. There are other options as well.
Try flashing CWM as well and see what happens ...

Seen this happen before, it was because 'fast boot' was selected in Settings.
Settings -> Power -> make sure "fast boot" is unticked. Then power the phone off, then boot to fastboot and flash recovery again.

Yes, I tried erase cache before and after, no difference.
I think you screwed something up in your device's file system, partition table or your bootloader is somehow damaged. As you can run fastboot, I strongly suggest a RUU. To get the right RUU for your phone there are numerous guides such as:

I think so. I just tried flashing CWM and was able to boot into it. It's showing unable to mount messages.
Looks like I have no choice but to try the RUU. I have been hesitant because I have yet to find a good explanation and good downloads of all the parts I need. Is there something like that available?
all right, this will certainly add to the confusion.
I flashed recovery_m7_att_stock and was able to get into it a little. Then I went back to the bootloader and flashed openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-m7 and actually get into it.
WHAT?
I pushed the CM nightly rom to it and it installed, although there were some errors about not being able to mount some things data and cache. But it did install and I was able to get into CM.
I'm almost afraid to try anything else at this point.

unable to mount /cache is OK (caused by fastboot erase cache)
unable to mount /data is not ok, could be a corrupt /data partition

After rebooting I'm still able to get into TWRP. I've been able to flash a couple of ROMs (very carefully) and I'm no longer seeing any errors about not being able to mount.
Looks like what ever was wrong has been corrected. Now all we have to do is figure out what went wrong and what I did to fix it.
Thanks everyone.

Nope. Have you unlocked the bootloader?
Your HBoot must be S-OFF or Unlocked
If still won't work, try open a terminal emulator and flash the .img(NOT .zip) by the command "dd"(must be rooted).
