Hi all!
Can you help me with my following questions please:
My nook has the faulty chip, and I read that Verygreen had enabled the Trim function in the stable 10.2, so can I update to that rom?
Is there anyway to solve the lag problems without wiping all of my data. I don't dare to try the trim kernel as I'm living in Vietnam, and there's no nook store in case I brick my device.
Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to your answer.

In theory trim has been fixed but it is up to you if you have the faulty chip and can't get service then you need to decide if it is worth it or not. The only way to beat lag seems to be with trim, the wipe and restore method, and you can try using an SDcard to keep your data. I only keep apps on mine all data movies, music, books are stored on SD and I don't seem to run into lag and that is on two different devices.

Hi guys,
i recently bought the nook color with the ebay coupon and i am running the Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 Image for SDcard. With the nookie room, i tried to download apps from market and noticed that the wifi connectivity speed is extremely slow that it was unusable which also applied to web browsing. So i read bunch of thread about the nook color having wifi issue and i thought it was hardware related issue. However, when i tried the nook color stock rom with auto nooter root method, i didn't notice the connectivity issue anymore. I burn to SD card twice with low format but same thing happend. I want to use 2.2 rom but i don't know what to do from this point.
I can confirm the wifi issues noted in post above, I have exact same setup. I was thinking it may have been due to my Kingston 8G/class 4 SD? I could not get signed into gmail due to unreliable connection.
I think I am just going to load Rom manager and flash recovery.
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using Tapatalk pro
I am using Kingston 16GB Class10.
I guess i will also flash the recovery.....

It would have been nice to run this alternate android version off the SD card and keep the stock rooted version on the Nook for access to Barnes & Noble account functionality but that's like having your cake and eating it too
I was going to load Gingerbread next anyway, and then try a Honeycomb test. So I guess it's not worth it to me to keep struggling with running a ROM off the SD card for now.
It seems like it is extremely easy to revert back to stock firmware, so I don't have an issue with trying different options
Same setup here...same issues. Wifi is really, really slow. There are threads 20 pages deep that document running froyo from the SD card. Yet not many people seem to be having wifi connectivity issues. I exchanged my nook tonight because it had a dead/bright pixel in the middle of the screen. The replacement is having the same wifi issues when running from the SD card. How is this not being talked about more, I wonder?
I have the same problem. It was fixed when I turn wifi off and back on again.
Hi guys, I started having issues with my SMS this morning. Now, I can't send messages reliably, I'm not sure if I'm receiving them properly now either. On top of that, I am was having issues with 3g, sometimes the icon would not appear at all, and others it would not load web pages or send data via internet enabled apps, i.e. facebook. I must stress that I did not change absolutely anything, and that it just started happening. could this be a flaw with cognition? or is it just AT&T being... well... AT&T?
I assume it's just AT&T being AT&T, I had issues with that exact scenario about a month ago. Cog is working fine for me, but you can always try to backup and re-flash and see if that helps.

If it persists I will re-flash... pain, but what ever. Any-who I'm about to get an inspire 4g anyways so meh.
Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not the only one who has encountered this problem. I tend to have one-in-6-billion luck like that.
Please post in the Cog sticky instead of creating new threads.
oh and for the record I'm running 3.04. Looking in to 4.1 anyways, wondering if I can update it without having to wipe everything. Can I restore apps + Data if I go from 3.04 to 4.1, or will that cause all sorts of hairy issues still?
No problem at all. Did you do your research around the forums and see all the reviews about the inspire not being all that it's cracked up to be? Not trying to sway your decision or anything, just making sure you know what you'll be getting into.

I don't think I wiped anything when I updated, but when I restored system apps with TiBu, I got some FC's when it came to a few of the system apps and data, don't recall which ones though.

I've been fiddling with it at the at&t store... I like it a lot but I'm looking in to the possibility of getting a different carrier's phone unlocked... I'll check out some of the discussion though. thanks
im not a big fan of how hard it is to remove the battery panel and the panel where the memory card would be at. but the phone looks nice. androidcentral has a video review about it
After using ICS on Samsung devices, people started noticing problems with the devices, mostly rebooting and getting the message Encryption unsuccessful. Often these devices wouldn't start again, and trying to flash them failed. The conclusion was that in these cases the internal storage had become unusable, possibly damaged. This may or may not be the same as the superbrick bug.
At this moment there doesn't seem to be a way to get the internal storage working again. There is a workaround, which consists of disabling the internal storage, and using external storage in place of internal, however, this doesn't enable the internal storage.
I was wondering if this problem could affect the Tab. I've been trying ICS for a while now, and I have had problems flashing hidden.rfs in some ROM's. Trying again has worked so far, but it could be a first symptom. Running ICS I've had the Encryption unsuccessful message. So far rebooting has worked, even though this results in a factory reset. These messages seem to occur more frequently lately. I've switched back to GB, CM7 to be precise, but updating Froyo to GB via Kies OTA failed last time, and only was successful after a emergency recovery.
I'm afraid the internal storage may be developing a problem, and I was wondering if this could have been caused by ICS?
@ableeker
Just wondering if you've made any more progress on this issue? I've seen your comments in some of the other threads but wanted to bump this one to see if we can get an updated synopsis on the state of this error.
For starters, it appears to mainly affect CDMA Tabs. Or, have you come across any GSM P1000's being affected?
Would be nice to have a dedicated thread to this issue so all Tab users can reference and build a collaborative knowledgebase (in one reference thread - ie. like the ones for the Samsung Captivate and Vibrant EU threads).
I understand the EU screen has damaged internal storage on the Captivate. There's a Captivate thread called [Guide] Encryption Unsuccessful - Reset Android [ICS Issue] with a lot of information. There are no real solutions so far it seems. I've had no responses in the Tab forums so far, people don't seem worried. However, I have seen threads like [FIX] [UPDATED] Internal SDCARD Damaged where Tab owners acknowledge the internal storage has been damaged beyond repair. It looks like some of the owners have GSM Tabs.

That's probably the biggest ongoing discussion for the EU (AFAIK). Woodrube esp. has been following the EU in various devices: Captivate, Vibrant, SGS2, Transformer, Nook, etc.
Lots of theories but still no sound proof as to the cause.
On a bright note, a handful of Captivate and Vibrant users have had their internal sdcards magically come back to life - ie. giving hope that the internal sd's are actually salvageable (if you're lucky). The downside is no one has put forth verifiable methodology to replicate those positive results. It's a crapshoot so far.

This is what concerns me about our SGT7's. It definitely seems to be damage happening in these cases.
Tried 10.1 no external mic/voice deal killer. Cm9 no 3/4g radios deal killer, CM10 no gps deal killer. So There are no updated roms that that keep ALL of what I consider core functionality? So I'm on 3.2 any suggestions on the best 3.2 rom? I've re-flashed at least 5 times looking for the "perfect" rom and I'm really sick of entering all my info/apps only to flash them away....
10.1 was great but losing the mic/voice interface is unacceptable. Also the voice interface on 3.2 seems similar to "google now" but not quite can it be upgraded to full functionality?
I'm currently StreakDroid-HD7R3-4G-105 tried r8 first and it wouldn't boot so any thoughts on r4/7 or is the anther rom family to that's better? Thanks for you input..

Thanks I tried to work around with a bluetooth headset, no joy. when I open voice search it crashes, am I wasting my time there? And thanks for all you efforts, it just that I'm an idiot buying a t-mobile 4g etc. I thought it was also PHONE! Stupid me, but for $120 I"ll beat it with a hammer until it gives in or dies.. So I'm trying correct my ignorance, and get either real or voip phone calls so a mic is kinda important.
Hey scott, you mean 10.1 has 4G band working? Ive been using R8 since thats the only one I know that uses 4G band for sure. Even tho the icon is broke. As for your R8 not booting, did you nvram flash R2 1st then cwm to R8?
I ended up back on r8, I tore everything out and started from scratch and it seems to be working pretty well now. I don't think I redid the partitions when I first rolled back from 10.1 the first time, and that caused all kinds of access errors.
Restore 2.2 found here was invaluable in rolling back all the way to 2.2 for a fresh start..

I have bought the second hand device over e-bay and from the beginning I have some problems with it.
Unfortunately I didn't tested it much when I received it because it was still on 5.0.1 stock and rooted. My wish was to have a stock device so it could receive OTA updates as lately I don't have a time to play with the phone.
I have read the beginners guide and followed the guide to return it to stock. I have flashbooted stock recovery, latest Lolipop radio, kernel, system and locked the bootloader. After booting into OS the device has informed that there is a system update. I downloaded it OTA and it installed without a problem. Now the trouble begun when I tried to use the phone. I noticed that youtube won't play any file, Kodi also. Sometimes it even rebooted the phone, but I noticed that when hardware acceleration in Kodi is turned off it plays OK. I thought that maybe video drivers are not OK and tried to check how video benchmark works. Basemark X on medium quality went OK so I thought that I did something wrong in a process of returning the device into stock and tried with a custom ROM.
The decision was to install xTraSmooth . As I didn't had a time to read everything afterwards I found that it is Android M preview and that I should update bootloader and radio as well. But Youtube started to work, Kodi also. Than I noticed that wifi signal is dropping so I decided not to update bootloader but to return to Lolipop and I installed Chroma ROM. After it flashed youtube and Kodi problem started again. I flashed elementalx kernel and Youtube worked but when I turned on hardware acceleration in Kodi it wasn't working.
Than I returned again to xTraSmooth but updated the radio, Youtube and Kodi were working fine, at least I thought. Yesterday I discovered that on some youtube 1080p videos video just freezes the picture after maybe a minute and sound continues to work. When I lower the quality bellow hd it is OK. Strange is that some 1080p youtube videos work without a problem.
Also I bought a slimport adapter and it doesn't work (I have only tested it with xTraSmooth M preview 2). I thought that an adapter is not good but tried it with my cousin Nexus 5 and it is OK.
Don't have a Chromecast and I tried a Miracast with a build.prop hack but the picture is terrible (xTraSmooth M preview 1).
I'm starting to think that my device is defective. Could you please help? Sorry for a quite long explanation.
Please edit this into paragraphs and I'll read it, but I'm not going to read it as it is. Nothing personal, but it's difficult to read block text.

Sorry for writing the post as one block, I have split it into paragraphs now. Hope that it would be easier to read it although it is very long. I tried to explain my problem as better as I could with less words possible.

Thanks for doing that.
Youtube should work fine. I would stick to Lollipop 5.1.1 builds. It doesn't have to be stock. The preview is just a preview so some things may not work.
I cannot comment on XtraSmooth as I haven't used it.
I do have Kodi, so if there is anything you want me to test on the rom I use, please let me know.
Nexus 6 doesn't support Slimport or MHL. I've used EZCast and that seems to work fine, picture resolution wise - though performance is poor, so no good for games or video.
I dont think your device is faulty. I would recommend trying some of the latest stock roms or AOSP roms after a full factory reset and trying again with youtube. What carrier are you on / country are you in?

Thank you for your reply.
I tried Chroma ROM which is ASOP 5.1.1. and Youtube / Kodi didn't worked.
Kodi had a general problem, I was watching a stream of Sons of Anarchy with Genesis plugin but I believe that the same thing will be with any other video. Maybe if it was a video stored on internal memory it would be OK. I'll test this
Sorry to hear that Nexus 6 doesn't support Slimport, I read that it does on GSM arena, NDTV gadgets so I didn't check any further. Does anybody tried Chromcast? I bought this phone mostly to connect it with TV to watch videos and I would appreciate a lot if somebody has a working solution.
OK I will try again to wipe the whole phone and reset it from the beginning.
I'm from Croatia and carrier is Tomato but I connect the phone on internet for any serious transmission over my home wifi.

I was trying to find pokedroid thread but I didn't find anything I could use. All I found out of his threads about relocking was the questions from 2 guys who were asking about messing with their company phone. Could you please lnk the tread you are referring to. Thanks.
Anyway I had some time to play with the phone. I installed stock 5.1.1 and relock the bootloader again, I tried Benzo-Rom and XtraSmooth (both 5.1.1) I tried stock M preview and they all had a problem with a video hardware acceleration. VLC even popped out the message that there was a problem with a hardware acceleration and proposed to turn it off.
I tried internet streams, streams over my LAN, playing video from internal memory. Every time the same problem.
I tried to downclock GPU in Benzo-ROM to 400 MHz and that repaired a problem but just in some cases.
After everything I installed again XtraSmooth M preview and almost all videos were playable. I checked GPU clock in CPU-z because I thought that it may be downclocked but it was 600 MHz (max). Well I won't complain for extra power but it is very strange that hardware acceleration works stable on overclocked GPU on preview OS and it doesn't work on stock clock on stable OS release.
Finally after being couple days on XtraSmooth M preview I tried to watch some video from facebook app but it rebooted my phone. I was going through developers options in setting menu and turned on "Disable HW overlays" and after this every video is playing ok.
Can anybody help me with this problem.
After a lot of trying I finally decided to ask Motorola for a help but unfortunately when entering IMEI number it was rejected. Now I am worried that the phone might be stolen and changed IMEI number. Maybe during that change something has gone wrong and that is why the phone is not working as it should be. Is there any way to check this without going to Motorola service because I live too far. The guy that has sold the phone isn't registered at ebay any more, which I discovered just today.

Many thanks, it showed that it is not blacklisted so I tryed again at Motorola pages and now it was OK, maybe it was some problem on the page because I tried about 5 - 6 times writing it all over again.
I have continued trying to repair the phone but unfortunately I have broken it more.
My WiFi connectin was breaking very often, signal was week, I found how to repair and rebuild persist folder and after the process sensors are not working. I have applied the following:
I have rebooted in TWRP and enered the following commands:
Code:
adb shell
e2fsck -y /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist
make_ext4fs /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist
Persist exist but in TWRP I can see it only as a file not as folder.
After I have tried to fastboot everything from the scratch (bootloader, radio, system, userdata . . . ) several times. I have wiped everything from TWRP. I have tried to return to stock 5.0.0. over nexus root kit, than update it to 5.1.1. but still sensors do not work. Is there any method to return this?
Just to update with the situation: I have installed CM 12.1 hoping that it will repair the issue somehow. Unfortunately it didn't.
Then I went through the root folder and folder /persist exist and it has sens.req file On the other hand it seems that my wifi and data reception are working much better. Is it possible to copy /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist file from some other phone into mine to repair the problem?
I have been reading more and maybe found out what has happened. I think that I have messed EFS but I am not sure as I didn't do a backup. Can somebody please answer is my conclusion true and could it be that the phone will be repaired with just a software correction? If yes is there any mothod to repair ESN other than sending it to service because I would have to send it out of my country (nexus is not selling here and none of the services I contacted will take it for repair).
