Tried 10.1 no external mic/voice deal killer. Cm9 no 3/4g radios deal killer, CM10 no gps deal killer. So There are no updated roms that that keep ALL of what I consider core functionality? So I'm on 3.2 any suggestions on the best 3.2 rom? I've re-flashed at least 5 times looking for the "perfect" rom and I'm really sick of entering all my info/apps only to flash them away....
10.1 was great but losing the mic/voice interface is unacceptable. Also the voice interface on 3.2 seems similar to "google now" but not quite can it be upgraded to full functionality?
I'm currently StreakDroid-HD7R3-4G-105 tried r8 first and it wouldn't boot so any thoughts on r4/7 or is the anther rom family to that's better? Thanks for you input..

Thanks I tried to work around with a bluetooth headset, no joy. when I open voice search it crashes, am I wasting my time there? And thanks for all you efforts, it just that I'm an idiot buying a t-mobile 4g etc. I thought it was also PHONE! Stupid me, but for $120 I"ll beat it with a hammer until it gives in or dies.. So I'm trying correct my ignorance, and get either real or voip phone calls so a mic is kinda important.
Hey scott, you mean 10.1 has 4G band working? Ive been using R8 since thats the only one I know that uses 4G band for sure. Even tho the icon is broke. As for your R8 not booting, did you nvram flash R2 1st then cwm to R8?
I ended up back on r8, I tore everything out and started from scratch and it seems to be working pretty well now. I don't think I redid the partitions when I first rolled back from 10.1 the first time, and that caused all kinds of access errors.
Restore 2.2 found here was invaluable in rolling back all the way to 2.2 for a fresh start..

Hi guys, I started having issues with my SMS this morning. Now, I can't send messages reliably, I'm not sure if I'm receiving them properly now either. On top of that, I am was having issues with 3g, sometimes the icon would not appear at all, and others it would not load web pages or send data via internet enabled apps, i.e. facebook. I must stress that I did not change absolutely anything, and that it just started happening. could this be a flaw with cognition? or is it just AT&T being... well... AT&T?
I assume it's just AT&T being AT&T, I had issues with that exact scenario about a month ago. Cog is working fine for me, but you can always try to backup and re-flash and see if that helps.

If it persists I will re-flash... pain, but what ever. Any-who I'm about to get an inspire 4g anyways so meh.
Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not the only one who has encountered this problem. I tend to have one-in-6-billion luck like that.
Please post in the Cog sticky instead of creating new threads.
oh and for the record I'm running 3.04. Looking in to 4.1 anyways, wondering if I can update it without having to wipe everything. Can I restore apps + Data if I go from 3.04 to 4.1, or will that cause all sorts of hairy issues still?
No problem at all. Did you do your research around the forums and see all the reviews about the inspire not being all that it's cracked up to be? Not trying to sway your decision or anything, just making sure you know what you'll be getting into.

I don't think I wiped anything when I updated, but when I restored system apps with TiBu, I got some FC's when it came to a few of the system apps and data, don't recall which ones though.

I've been fiddling with it at the at&t store... I like it a lot but I'm looking in to the possibility of getting a different carrier's phone unlocked... I'll check out some of the discussion though. thanks
im not a big fan of how hard it is to remove the battery panel and the panel where the memory card would be at. but the phone looks nice. androidcentral has a video review about it
..In picking out which is the best droid setup for me.
I was here months back when I setup droid on my Vogue(US Cellular) and over the course of a couple days of trying out different builds and testing, I found that Warm Doughnut was the best working one for me at the time. Unlike the Froyo build on here that I tried, doughnut's data connection worked fine (and right away) without any setup at all whereas I couldn't get it running for the life of me on Froyo.
However, I'm wanting to swap out past doughnut now to a more updated version of Android. Which would you all recommend? I've been reading some good reviews on the Gingerbread build... However, I'm worried about calls/sms/data and all of the other features... Which are working which aren't?
I'd have to have them all working (like current setup on doughnut) to make the switch, else it'll just be pointless for me.
Now I ask the same of the FroYo build on here. Before it worked fine for me, except the data functions... I couldn't get it to connect at all for the life of me.
So, I ask of you all with more experience with this phone than me. What would you suggest? What works for you? Doughnut, Froyo, or Gingerbread?
I want to get Froyo running if I can (about to put it back on and give it a go) but not having a data connection will kill the idea for me. And even better would be if I can get Gingerbread running, but only if I can get in/outgoing calls, sms, data, (gps hopefully) and bluetooth.
Thanks in advance for any/all support you guys can give me!
Superfroyo seems very stable and functional to me. I'm on Sprint. Even MMS works though you have to fiddle with it. Gingerbread's not all there yet stabilitywise.

Thanks for the reply! I felt the same when I tried it out months ago, my only issue is getting the data running... Did you have to fiddle with yours a lot to get it working? I know you're on Sprint and I'm on US Cellular, but from what I can tell the two shouldn't be that different to setup. Maybe I didn't give it enough time/work before to get data running (or maybe I was doing it wrong).
Also, I'm going to be using it from my SD card (like I have previously) for a while and make sure its solid before I think about wiping my WM6.1 off and replacing it altogether. Doughnut worked fine off of the SD card, I'm assuming Froyo will as well? Didn't give it too much time before, but when I did have it going on the SD card before I didn't notice it chugging along at all.
Another thing, do I have to use WM6.5 to get this going, or is it ok using WM6.1 like I am? Would prefer not to have to redo (and backup all that nonsense) for my 6.1 if I don't have to.
I totally wiped windows mobile and run off nand. It's snappy enough and data worked straight off. No fiddling.

Well, got Froyo running... But no data running yet... Enabled Data, enabled data while roaming (roaming majority of the time anyways) and nothing yet...
Ideas anyone?

The typical question is: does it work in winmo?
Since upgrading will take you off the upgrade path, I was just wondering if there is something on the new build that isn't working.
Like camera, video, data etc.
Honestly, I wouldn't jump on it unless you really need it (I've heard it makes GSM work a lot better). AFAIK, it hasn't even been rooted yet, which means you are giving up a LOT just to get ICS, which you can do from the stock rom and safestrap.
If you root just before flashing and use voodoo rootkeeper you can keep root. I unfortunately forgot to re-root after I needed to flash SBF (wouldn't update). So far everything works for me. Well except root that is. But to tell you the truth. I only used root to change the build.prop and have write access to system (notifications etc). Owh and freeze apps. But thats it.
So far so good! The battery won't last as long as on 219. But by how much I'll have to test. On 219 I ran in 2G mode all the time. So it isn't a real fair comparison. Yesterday I turned off all sync and push and disabled some applications. So we'll see how long it will last today.. I took it off the charger around 07:50 AM. So don't expect an update 'till tomorrow. It's only 08:50 AM where I live .
For the gsm users i recommend this update if you can go with no root
The rom is actually more responsive and most importantly, it dun drop the line that often
And ics with WORKING camera & video, not much is missing actually
According to this, you can keep root if you install OTA Rootkeeper, back up root, temp unroot, restore root, and THEN apply the update.
I updated and kept root and am very impressed with every aspect of performance on this build.
Battery life the first day was excellent, above average considering I was playing with the phone a lot.
Radio performance on VZW's network with this new baseband is exceptional.
Data throughput and transitions from cellular to WiFi and maintaining data connection were all distinctly improved. I am in a marginal 3g only area where I live and work 90% of the time, but I can go a few miles away to get LTE coverage.
While I cannot openly recommend flashing non revertable leaks to anyone, I cannot say enough about how much I am enjoying this build right now. I have yet to find any downside beyond the fact that we have no full firmware files for this build yet.
This is a superlative build and anyone willing to accept the risk should not be disappointed.
25 hours later there's 30% battery remaining. Made 5 1-minute phone calls. Played about 20 minutes of 3D games. Used internet a couple of times (checked email, whatsapp, some internet apps) and I would say at 90% 3G connection. So that's not so bad I would say.
Stuff not Working
For me, my Facebook app (built-in) is not working, and constantly crashes. I finally disabled the app completely to stop getting the crash pop-ups.
Also, built-in MotoCast disappeared, and it does not show up for me in the Play Store (probably because they have not released an ICS version of the app for non-tablets yet in the Store).
Other than those 2 so far, everything I have tested and checked works like a dream come true.
Everything is working great for me. The ota rootkeeper worked as well. Im running the leak with root.. the facebook app that came on the leak needs update. Its an older version. May be the reason

Anyone else have problems with the headphone jack not working?
Everything seems to work fine for me so far.
Motocast is built in to "My Files", "My Gallery", and "My Music" now. I just installed it and seems to work fine.
Negative. Just drove 20 hours with headphones on.

Please be more specific about the headphones.
I haven't had any issues with Klipsch X10 headphones at all, but mine is only a 2 prong headset, without microphone or call control features.
I've had some odd headphone issues and I am NOT on the leak.
I'll plug in headphones, but the phone won't switch from the loudspeaker to the headphones. Unplugging and replugging the headphones in usually fixes the issue. Kind of annoying, but I use headphones so infrequently on my phone anyway that I haven't done any hard investigating on whether it is a software or hardware issue.
I'm leaning towards hardware though, because IIRC it happens on stock and the GB-ICS frankenbuilds.
This may be a stupid question but does anyone know if there is going to be a way to reverse being taken off the upgrade path? Im new to the forums and I just started getting into rooting and flashing roms. Im running a nightly build of the aokp ics with cm9. Im happy with it so far but would love to use my camcorder again lol. Are there any other issues with this version of ics?
I dont know about reversing the upgrade path but i do know that everything works really great on my d4 running the leaked ics.

You SHOULD be able to get back on the upgrade path using the same method others have used to go from the .200 ICS leak to the .206 ICS leak. That involves a partial flash of the .219 fastboot file to essentially trick the update into thinking you are still on .219. But there are no guarantees.
I see. Thank you for your input. One more thing does anyone know if the gummy rom has been updated? I was using it for a few days but decided to go to the aokp for better 4g functionality.
My girlfriends D3 has gradually been getting worse with poor reception, dropping calls, not being able to make/receive calls or texts.
Data seems to work fine. This weekend it just finally stopped being able to make calls or send texts from our home.
If i drive a few miles down the road or to a higher elevation i was barely able to call *228 to update roaming.
I can still use the browser over 3G and Wifi, just no tethering, phone or text.
The phone shows 3G and a full signal, but as soon as i initiate a call it drops to 1 bar.
Another thing we noticed this morning is that when calling the phone it goes straight to voicemail.
I had tried changing the Network mode from Global to CDMA yesterday and at one point got an error message saying "No CDMA networks were found. Would you like to switch to Global Mode?"
Phone has been rebooted and battery pulled along with some other diagnostic tests that the verizon techs did over the phone yesterday.
The only thing i had done to this phone was i applied the TBH tethering hack without root over a year ago. It worked fine up until now.
The phone has the latest System version 5.7.906.XT862 and the latest Baseband N_03.18.32P.
Im thinking of reverting the TBH Tethering hack back using the instructions in this post
I spoke to Verizon tech support yesterday and they said there was some trouble in our area, but my Droid X is still able to connect so i doubt thats the issue.
Does anyone think that an OTA update from Verizon may have screwed something up due to the TBH hack being applied?
The GF is frantic about getting her phone back. I can take out insurance for 6.99 pr/month and pay $100 to get her a new phone, but if reverting the TBH hack and maybe rooting and installing a new ROM might help, im all for it.
Any thoughts? ROM advice? Was reading up about the AOKP Build 40 ROM, but wondering if all the hoop jumping will help or if the D3 has a hardware issue that has just got progressively worse.
Wont you help a poor guy keep the peace with his lady please?
I don't think it's that. It's possible that the 3G in the area is good but 1x is crap. 3G is just used for data while calls/texts are used on 1x. What is the PRL versions your phone and her phone have?

Just tried updating them both and the PRL's stayed the same.
About an hour ago i was in the middle of backing up her phone and it started ringing. I was able to answer the call and now im able to make and receive texts and calls. There must have been a tower issue. The signal still drops to 2 bars when i initiate a call, but at least its working again.
She says its been flaky for quite a while with dropping calls and texts not getting sent. Im all backed up and was thinking of rooting and trying a ROM on this. Not sure if itll help with signal issues, dropped calls or texts not being sent or received.
She was also complaining about the thing pocket dialing, and other random stuff happening like her browser launching and texts being sent etc. I saw it this morning. I picked up her phone to bring it downstairs and saw that there was a text reply box open with a bunch of jibberish typed in it. She says that sort of thing happens all the time.
Think maybe a good stable ROM might help?
After a little more research i came across Minimoto here at XDA. Minimoto Link
Seems to be the way to go if im sticking to a GB ROM. I see you contributed some to it. Would you happen to know where some step by step instructions for getting it installed on a non rooted D3 might be?
1) Root it.
2) Install Safestrap 3.05.
3) Reboot to it, create ROM-Slot 1.
4) Factory reset and wipe cache and delvik.
5) Flash the ROM.
6) Set her up with goodness.
Though if random crap is popping up, I suspect the digitizer is flaky.

Have you heard of digitizer issues with D3's before?
Any recommendations on which rooting method to use?
Do i have to remove the TBH Tether hack before rooting, installing Safestrap or Flashing the ROM?
So i take it your in agreement that this would be a good choice for a stable no frills GB ROM?
the random stuff can be from from a bad digitizer, dirt/grime on digitizer/edge or a software conflict
try cleaning screen around the edge, and/or flash rom/sbf
you need to remove bootstrap before safestrap, tbh hack should be fine
i haven't use minmo, but many have, also you could look at

Thanks sd_shadow I think ill stick with minimo most likely. Too many dam ROMS to choose from!.
Ok so from the hours of reading i did yesterday, i found a working link for motofail. It appears it is the best (or only) way to root the D3 if on 906.
From there i thought i could just install Safestrap 3.05 which i managed to track down as well.
I never installed Bootstrap, so does this even apply? Is there a factory bootstrap included with the D3?
I believe i read that minimoto has its own tethering feature included. So are we sure i dont have to revert the TBH tethering hack?
Some great links in your signature by the way. If the digitizer keeps acting up, i may try replacing it. I did clean it last night and will see if things improve.

Just install safestrap on your safe system after root don't worry about bootstrap.

No

No you do not have to undo the tether hack it is a hardwear hack not a software hack and will work on any rom no matter if the rom already has tethering in it.

I haven't updated my SCH-I800 in a while and I notice that there is now a stable "cm-9.1.0-p1c.zip" on the cyanogenmod site but also CM10 builds (cm-10-20130714-NIGHTLY-p1c.zip) as recently as last week. The forums for the I800 aren't up right now so I thought I'd ask here if these CM10s are actually functioning well or if they have lots of missing features. And as much as I dig, I seem to only find half working ROMs or extremely experimental ones that have basic things like WiFi missing. Is there a solid stock Samsung ROM and a solid AOSP ROM that everyone uses at this mater point in this tablet's lifespan?
And is there a new method for flashing at all? Or is ODIN still the way?
Thanks!!!

I have spent the last week or so trying to get an SCH-i800 to run something OTHER than the stock gingerbread well and just haven't found it yet. The closest I got was a build of CM9 but still have sporadic reboots.
It's frustrating since the only thing I want this to do is run some OBD apps for my car. The problem is that apps detect Gingerbread and run in phone mode vs. tablet mode, wasting a bunch of screen space.
Cubed has been pretty much the only non-stock rom that didn't have FC's and random reboots. I don't even use the cellular feature of this tablet - I'd be happy just disabling the modem entirely and running on wifi if it meant it being more stable.
I'm considering just getting a Nexus 7, but the problem is that this thing would need to live in my car and I don't feel like doing that with a new tablet which is why I was trying to get the i800 to work
