GT-S5830V Won't enter download mode - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It goes into Recovery mode ok but no download mode.
Power + vol down (or vol down + vol up) + home makes it loope the galaxy screen once then it just loads the built in rom.
After I first bought it I could get it into download mode. But after rooting her so many times she refuses to play ball.
I have tried unrooting it and uninstalling busybox / CWM etc but don't know what else to try.
is there anyway of resetting the "bios" of the phone to default or something?
I tried restoring the stock build.prop.
Dunno what else to do.
Any advice much appreciated.
Regards.

did u tried entering download mode through terminal?
in the terminal :
su
reboot download
and u ll be in download mode n if this doesnt work then try flashing new rom

He can't get into download or recovery because 5830v is an Aussie version with secure kernel. He needs a USB Jig to get his phone into download mode. However he can root the device by enabling USB debugging and installing the latest drivers and then running an exploit like Moto-Chopper (same as I have done). Then I'd advise using Galaxy Toolbox to unlock the device and backup the EFS. Then I would generate the PIT file and use EFS to do all full image backups of the device. I would buy/make a USB jig and then flash a custom recovery. Then flash new kernel. Then after all of that you may now flash a new ROM. Avoid Odin where ever possible. The 5830v is NOT the same as the 5830i. The i can handle software from the v but not visa versa.
Take that as a word of warning.
Edit: I posted in this thread because there is very little information of XDA about the Galaxy Ace GT-5830v

Hey Jarmezrocks!
I have an Australian Samsung galaxy ace gt s5830V. I am finding incredibly hard to find any info on how to fix the bootloop on my screen. As per your advice I have purchased a usb jig ( to get my phone into dl mode). But as my phone is not rooted and I have never put any upgrades or roms on it I'm a bit puzzled as to why it has done this and how to fix it. In your post you say not to use Odin. Why is that and what can I do instead?
Your help would be greatly appreciated because all the info on here is mainly directed at s5830i.
Thanks

Avoid Odin trying to flash a custom ROM, use it only when you need to. Flashing a more insecure kernel that enables download mode without the use of the USB jig in other words.
For you it maybe as simple as booting into recovery mode and simply doing a factory data reset? That should wipe any data that maybe stopping the device from booting correctly? After factory reset you should be able to flash a custom recovery zip from the factory recovery? I can re-upload what I used that was successful with the S5830V if you are stuck?

[Q] amateur in need of help!

I followed instructions on a link via the cyanogenmod website, to try and get cm7 on my phone. The instructions were on a wiki website which I now know is not reliable!
I got to the stage "flashing cyanagonmod" to find out that the zip files had to be in the internal sd card BEFORE starting the whole process!
I can still access download mode and recovery. But my phone gets stuck on the "Samsung galaxy i9000" intro screen.
I tried restoring and factory reset but still no joy...
any help is very appreciated!
Download some odin flashable ROM, and flash that in download mode.
where do I find an odin ROM and how do I know which one to use?
corrected: samfirmware.com
If you want a custom rom, then look through here however your going to have to read which is odin flashable...
This is a guide and rom i have used myself. Click here
BTW this is obviously assuming you are on SGS I9000 the second link should be quite clear...
here's a nice link to finding stock firmwares and using Odin:

Thanks for your post. Only problem is ODin doesn't recognise when my phone is plugged in? i.e. there isn't that yellow box showing...help!
Ok so im guessing your trying the 3 button combo for download mode (vol up + home + power). Alternatives to force download is a homemade jig, which is easily obtainable from ebay for a relatively cheap price. Other ways you can try is holding the combo for as long as you can, some have reported it may even work after 3 mins. Another method is hold the combo and then whilst holding it insert the battery. Also the last method but have the usb plugged into with odin open, then put the battery in. Many many ways... just search
Is that what you mean or that you CAN get to download mode and Odin and the computer does NOT recognise when you plug it in. If this is try re-installing the drivers using kies, its under the tools menu. Try a different version of odin, plug phone in then try the combo (with battery already in, then without). Have you closed all Kies applications background processes? (use task manager in windows). Use another computer..
Also have you read this
Edit: Forgot to add, can you get into Recovery? Then use your nandroid backup which you should always do before flashing.. If you dont have a back up try use ADB to force download mode "adb reboot download"
Need to know what options you have available in-order to help, what can you do? Is there any response from your phone with pressing buttons or key combinations??

I can only enter Recovery mode

Hi,
I installed a bootloader with Odin And after that I needed to Install a GBOOT with Odin but I can't enter dowload mode I only can enter Recovery mode. What do I need to do ?
I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990
What phone do you have?
What recovery version are you running?
How do you get into recovery?
A tad more info would be useful please.
9. Whatever I flash, I end up in Recovery! What should I do?
Flash stock Vibrant bootloaders, then ODIN to stock JFD. You should be good to go here onwards... I only had this issue when I tried changing bootloaders over MIUI/CM7. Couldn't replicate on Samsung ROMs... (AS QUOTED ON THE LINK PAGE)
Thank you for your responds
The recovery mode I run is CWM v 5.0.2.7 .
The thing is Odin can't recognize my phone because I can't enter Downloading mode so I can't flash that.
Hope you can help me further
if you got any rom's stored on your sdcard you could try to flash that and then try to enter download mode, otherwise you could go to "mounts and storage" and mount usb storage there and move over an rom to flash.
Try to flash phone via cwm. Now we have jvz deodexed version on forum. Maybe after it will be ob.

I've tried to flash a rom from my SD card.
@Emek can you explain it more clearly. I don't understand it.
Grtz William !
There is a rom on here you can flash using CWM. On the forum is a JVZ that you can flash without using ODIn, slap that on your sd card, goto recovery and install from sd and hopefully that should fix it
Sorry of being such a noob. What's a JVZ and which one do I need to flash.
Grtz William
I flashed this one Click
And It still doesn't work...
edit: Tried this one as well Click
It still doesn't work. I hope my phone isn't Bricked. Is he ?
They wont work as you need the correct gingerbread bootloaders installed first.
You ned to make or buy a jig then you can get the phone to access download mode again, and then using ODIN 1.83 reflash everything inlcuding the bootloader.
Jig instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
Failing that, see if you can buy a jig from ebay
Ok thank you. I ordered yesterday a JIG from ebay.
What do I need to do then. What do I need to flash exactly ... I don't want to screw it up another time. I liked the MIUI rom but he didn't recognize the external SD so that's the reason why I flashed other bootloaders.
So I would like to have MIUI with working SD card.
If the SD card doesn't work I won't to flash the original Android.
Grtz William
I would download and flash this for starters, it contains a bootloader as well make sure you click the bootloader section in ODIN.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380402
Then you can flash a custom rom afterwards, but dont change the bootloader once it works!

I bought a JIG so I can get into download mode right now so then I flashed the ROM that Buttwad proposed. But ODIN said the proces of flashing failed and no when I connect my phone to my pc my pc even don't recognize my phone so I can't put anything on my phone. What do I need to do. I am desperate.
u can acces the phone sd in recovery..
Am I blind or have you actually FLASHED a Vibrant bootloader over Galaxy S??
Seems like you have issues with key combinations. Try using the Volume down with power button and see if it could get you to the download mode.
Also, if your device is being detected by the phone, use "adb reboot download" to reboot the phone into download mode.
Here is the situation: I had the MIUI rom on my phone but my phone didn't find my external SD. So i searched a bit on the internet and I found a guy who had the same problem and he said that I needed to flash the Vibrant bootloaders so I did that. But then everytime I started up my phone I came in Recovery mode. I couldn't even acces downoading mode anymore. So first I tried to flash two other roms(This one And this onebut the problem stayed the same. So I bought a JIG and then I tried to put this bootloaderon my phone but Odin said ERROR after a while. So then I tried to flash this one.
But now I can't even enter recovery mode. When I start up my phone I see a pictogram with my phone and the pc with the sign that I can't connect them.
And my computer also don't find my phone anymore so I can't flash anything anymore.
Please Help !
I will give 8 euros to the person who can tell me step by step(easy) what I need to do to make my phone working.

I have this problem before and i managed to use ODIN3 v1.83 (can use Odin3 v3.07) to detect my phone and flash a stock rom onto the device. I followed the advice given on this excellent thread by Supermini.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071970
As mentioned on his thread make sure you have the latest stock firmware from the sammobile site or by using Check Fus Downloader as per the guide in Rafael thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551156, a working samsung USB driver to detect your mobile on your PC and a copy of ODIN3 v1.83 (or v1.84, v1.87, v3.07 run ODIN in administrator mode if using in windows). Ultimately if this this fails you could always try a USB jig which can be purchased from ebay, etc. to get the phone into download mode.
Good luck and if this helps make sure you send a thank you to Supermini.

So . . . last thing to rescue your phone is buy on e-bay or in other place JIG if it isn't help you then try in phone service and say you tried install new ROM with Kies and your phone is brick (maybe it'll work).
Say to Service Centre Representatives that you kept your at charging last night
And when you woke up
It was not booting up
Pretend as if you dunno anything about root or ROM
They fixed my bricked phone
I am not sure if I am breaking any forum rule by telling this
Hey bro sorry for the late reply also, please before you do anything else try following my instructions.
1) download Odin v3.07
2) source the stock firmware you want to flash from sammobile.
3) make sure you have the Samsung mobile driver.
4) open and run Odin as administrator and load the single file in the PDA and highlight the tick box.
5) shut the phone down and take out your Sim card.
6) put the mobile into download mode as normal (press both up/down vol keys +power)
7) connect the phone to the PC and check in Odin to make sure its com port is detected.
8) then flash through Odin as normal.
I understand what your saying about no download screen appearing, I have found through experience that custom kernels can cause no download screen to appear. Normally with stock kernel this is not a problem but with custom kernels sometimes all you get is a black screen. Ignore this and just make sure that Odin is detecting the phone and try to flash, chances are it will flash the stock ROM and kernel. If you get the setup connection error in Odin and the fail 0\1 just try another USB port on your PC and keep persevering.
Please keep us updated so we can help you if you need it.

Why will it be hardbricked if the custom roms are based on s5830i stock roms?
But it is probable that we did I not flash the rom properly as per procedure..so is there a chance that it be bricked? Else the rom may have some problem... just telling the probability

[Q] [q] galaxy ace bricked flashing cm7! Help please!

Hello, I was trying to root and install the CM7 on my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830B. The root and the cwm installation processes worked with no problems, but when I installed the CM7 it just turned off and won't turn on again.
I can't flash a stock ROM via Odin cuz the pc won't recognize the device. It won't turn on in normal mode, downloading mode nor bootloader.
What can I do to solve this issue, please?
Thank you!

Which ROM You have flashed? If You can´t go to Recovery or Download mode, try USB JIG, if not work with JIG, I am sorry Your phone is bricked.
If Your phone can´t nothing try put out battery, connect Your Ace with usb cable (without battery), open odin, hold 3 buttons for download mode (vol.down+home+power) and WITH holding buttons put back baterry. If in Odin You can see yelow oblong with COM, You can now try flash new stock rom.

I tried installing Cyanogenmod 7.2. And err, is there any other way of trying to restore the phone instead of the USB JIG, cuz I don't have any. :/
I've already tried to go on the download mode by the steps you just said (power button+vol up./down + home), but the phone seems to be dead, it won't turn on in normal mode, download mode nor recovery. As the phone won't start in the download mode, i'm not able to flash anything via ODIN.
Is there anything else I could try? What if I try to flash STOCK ROM via ADB to SD CARD using ANOTHER CELLPHONE?
Thanks for helping.
Ah, another important info is that I think the phone "died" with the USB Debugging deactivated, so I think that's why the ADB can't recognize the device, right?

OK... so a couple of days ago a friend of mine screwd my phone when he tried to install clockwork recovery without rooting, I was stuck at Samsung logo, no recovery, only download mode... so today after going through tons of threads so I could use Odin with ace on win8.. I finnaly managed to un**** it... so I could re**** it again... so I followed this thread after reviving the phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
After rooting and instaling cw, I tried to install a ROM on it, namely nightly cm (found somewhere here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188679)... I got a status 7 error cause of the assertion, which in removed, after successfully installing the ROM (or so recovery mode said) I tried reboting and it no longer turned on. Doesn't seem to charge and it won't boot...
The only things I can think of that i did wrong were:
Having under 50% battery life
Not removing sim card
PS: also before installing ROM I cleared caches and reset to fact. Settings
Any ideas on how to fix this? If not, what did I do wrong here?
EDIT: ok so i think i figured out what i did, i wanted to download this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199575 ... i went to the "external webstie" to download, and i think i downloaded this rom "android cm_skate-userdebug-cm-10.2 (stable)" which it seems its not for my phone :S ...
Is it possible to boot into download mode now? would a usb jig work? something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8822843&postcount=1
Or is it a lost cause?
Thanks...
PS: oh god, to think i removed the assertion that was saving my phone... ahh **facepalm** , why didnt i read the damn assertion...

Thanks for the answer, i know the "shrotcut", as i said in the op i used odin allready, but the big issue is the phone does not react to the power button, idk what the rom i installed did, if its bricked or if its just expecting a different input rather than the supposed power button, in which case the jig should work...
