[Q] help please please'

i have been trying for days to update my xda ll himalaya from 2003 to windows 6 plus, but with no luck.
i follow all the instructions on this forum' but no luck at all.
it keeps going back to programes that were set by factory bloody phone.
i must have downloaded nearly all the roms on this site and tried to install them with no luck' i was wondering can i install a new operating system over the old one a bit like a lap top you know like booting from a sd card and installing over the top of the old one.
please fellows i do need help on this one, my daughter keeps offering me this samsung pink small slide thing, because my phone wont update' save me from this pink gross small keyed thing.

Sounds like you're running a 64bit Win7. That won't work! (unless mabee virtual)

you will need the stuff from this post -

install - ER2003Edit_1_4_26.msi on pc
it will enable you to be able to open the ms_.nbf
the ms_.nbf needs to be put in the same folder as
HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
nk.nbf
ms_.nbf
when upgrading.
the ms_.nbf is where all the old factory programs are coming from its known as the EXTROM.
it houses programs that the factory thinks that should always be installed but not uninstalled by the public, thats why they do not appear in remove programs tab.but we do not need a lot of this stuff as we are now running WM 6.5.

has already been cleaned of any factory placed program .cabs so you can use that one straight off,it does contain 2 splash images that you could change?
its best not too have any .cabs in ms_.nbf as you will then be able to do this -

still having problems with update

thanks for the help' what ive done was downloaded all thos programes you advised me to.
extracted them to my desktop' installed the one that opens the rom image.
opend the rom image had a look it said i was on o2 but ive unlocked it to my network orange, but i didnt change anything just save the image and came out of the programe.
then i opened windows mobile connected my xdall to it and created a new folder in games called smart, i then copy the ms file and the himaupgrade to this folder.
which ever way i try to run this ie from my windows mobile sysc, i get the same message first it says about update and delete my old software, goes through the checking stage then says update has a problem please take out usb and soft reset device and try again.
and if i try to run it from my mobile it says there is no application associated with ms_ run the application first then openthis file from within the application.
this is driving me up the wall, also i am using windows 7 might that be a problem.

the HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe was never made to run on win7 that why we have too tweek.
follow this its for xp/vista but also applies for win 7 -

when all hooked up ie. device in bootloader (you cannot update in win mobile it needs to be in bootloader mode)and all ready to run, make sure u have all 3 files in same folder on desktop pc not win mobile device...
3 files are -
HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe - update app
nk.nbf - actual win mo 6.5 rom image
ms_.nbf - extrom image
the ms_.nbf can be opened with ER2003Edit_1_4_26.msi and just delete the o2 option from the 2 drop down and type in ORANGE then go - file - save ROM image - exit
after update app has finished make sure you do this before you start up device for first time -
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use Record Button, change values with Camera Button)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad/Action Button and wait until OS starts.

even though you are running win 7 its the same,where it differs is the actual driver install,follow the guide for vista for that..

it went into boot mode' showing usb top of screen and version 1.06 at the bottom.
but heres the weird thing' when i run this windows mobile centre without being in boot mode' no problems at all, now im run ning from boot mode through usb on windows 7 it just wont connect it stops with error 101 unable to update.
still a big problem please help .

which 6.5 rom are u trying to run...if it one of YAHAHANUVOELEGANLC they can be a bit fussy..what you have to do is copy the .nbf to a completely new folder somewhere on pc and use this update utilty....

i can get boot mode ok it says USB at the top and serial at the bottom, then i open hiyma upgrade put my phone in the cradle' but then it wont syc.
windows 7 is a big pain in my a..e bloody thing.
there must be some one out there that can cure this problem.

If you have 32 bit windows 7 download attachment from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428469
unpack it anywhere but remember where it's unpacked, desktop for example.
Then put hima into bootloader mode and into crandle.
Then click on PC :
Start > Right Mouse Click on Computer > in the left you should see Device Manager link, click on this > Go to Portable Devices or something like that, there should me USB Sync or something like this > Click right mouse on it and tap Update driver > Select Browse my computer blabla > click on Let me choose someting blabla, this second option > Click DISC button > Navigate to folder where you opened this and open wceusbsh blabla > select Microsoft USB Sync or something on the list and click next > install driver > Run update and flash, lol

there will be NO icon or message in win 7 that device is connected as long as you have USB at the top of device screen that lets you know it is connected....

this himalaya xdall is still giving me problems'
ive done all of these' links and downloads to up date this mo fo' but without any luck.
this has been slowly driving me up the wall, even though i have followed to the letter everything page by page.
i dont think this is going to work on windows 7'
my usb icon bottom right of my screen is showing a green and white tick that indicates that my pda is conected but not in the my computer screen, even after i followed the information.
im also getting error 101 on the himalaya ungrader, as i said before what about flashing from my sd card thats got to be worth a try.
also i would like to hear from another members that have upgraded the xdall himalaya with windows 7.
but i do think this alas is not ment to be' my destiny is drawn towards my daughters god awlfull pink mobile.
SAVE ME FROM THIS IT IS NEARLY CHRISTMAS

ActiveSync - for xp
(if allready installed, uninstall and start fresh)

this great guide is for win 7 as well..follow the Windows Vista guide first to make win 7 play ball then after a pc reset follow the Windows XP guide for the actual updating...
and make sure you go through the different driver install ie. USBAS.zip
the reason for this is that win 7 runs "Windows Mobile Device Center" but the himalaya upgrader needs the drivers from the older "ActiveSync" which runs on xp.
make sure you have -
Uncheck the 'Allow USB Connections' box, and select 'OK'. in "Windows Mobile Device Center" settings before you try hooking up device in bootloader mode...

It's ok to update without windows mobile center, you need just driver.
basicbri, if you followed my guide, you can't fail. It's really impossible to con't get it work with my manual. Try again, even if you didn't yet

Nexus S and ICS a little problem

Hi all
I did not receive the OTA so I decided to manually update my nexus s (I9020XXK1)
Unfortunately the navigation works only on wi-fi. Although the data navigation is turned on the mobile does not download email etc.
I thought it was a problem with widgetsoid and I disinstalled it but the problem is still there.
I also tried to update the APN via "APN Italiani" but the programs shows the generic message that "he encountered an error"
My question: do you have any idea how to work it out? and also: is there a program similar to widgetsoid for a dummy (me)?

just flash a customer rom like aosp + (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397358) -> all works

it would be even worst! I already tried but I'm a dummy and couldn't do it
at home I have a mac and could not get a propor procedure. now (at work) I have a pc but no administrator rights.
if there is an easy way to do it then I will give it a try but I would need a "guide for dummies"

go to market and install rom manager start it and install clockworkmod recovery (the first thing) download a customer rom and put it to your sd card bzw internal storage shutdown your phone then press vol down button start your phone now you are in clockworkmod recovery then wipe data factory reset then format cache and choose flash form zip choose your rom and flash it restart your phone thats it

I downloaded "rom manager"
WhenI tried to install clockworkmode recovery he told me some problems occurred while executing provileged commands...

fuu sri i forgot that you need root to install cmw

Ok I downloaded it and run the .bat file
checked everything and plugged the cable
clicked on "enter" the dos says:
*daemon not running. starting it now*
*daemon started successfully*
then?

(1) make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device
(2) enable "USB DEBUGGING"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)
(3) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(4) [OPTIONAL] increase screen timeout to 10 minutes
(5) connect USB cable to PHONE and then connect to PC
restart it maybe this help

if you enabled usb debugging you have to connect your device with your pc

I'm trying this way (hopefully it will work considering that I do not have administrator rights)
Would be great if there was a program to install directly on the nexus ...
beside I'm in the office
unfortunately it doesn't work
I don't have the provileges to update drivers on this pc. I will try later at home with my wife pc or something different

ohh ok xD and yes you need admin rights for this :/

we are trying all this just to root the nexus s (from my understanding)
would be great there was an easy way to get root access straight from the nexus without connecting it to a pc or mac

Error: Kies does not support Mini 2

I'm receiving the below error when connecting my Mini 2 to my PC:
'This device is not supported by Kies 2.0.'
This is obviously not the case. I have tried to re-install Kies many times. Not a driver error as I can use it like an external drive in Windows Explorer.
mobile: Galaxy Mini 2 (S6500D), stock rom, usb debugging enabled (tried with disabled as well)
pc: Windows 8 Enterprise (does not need Media Feature Pack)
Kies: v2.5.2.13021_10
I have already checked tonns of forums but no solution found so far.

it's because CSC. i don't know a english post of how to solve this, but here i put a spanish tutorial translated:
Megatutorial: Change CSC (Country Specific Code)
Hello friends, I bring you good news, is on the CSC. It is very important because Megatutorial.
The first thing I have to say is, when the Stock Rom flashearon and went to Kies, noted that they came this message: "The device does not support software upgrade of Kies travez" I asked Samsung about it and they said it is a program error, but they were wrong.
Navigating today, I discovered that when you leave that message, you can never upgrade by Kies, but today, I found the solution. The just try, and I have regained the ability to upgrade by Kies.
What is CSC?
The CSC, for its acronym in English (Country Specific Code) refers to code each terminal, belongs to this region, to have one that does not correspond to our phone, it automatically stops inactualizable.
Navigating discovered how to change it, I'll put it in red to make it attractive.
procedure:
1. - First dial * # 272 * (not dial anything else, not pressed the call button)
2. - Following this put your IMEI (You can see it by dialing * # 06 #) and finally I put #
3. - I stay like this: * # 272 * 53259623505748 #
4. - Once done will get a menu with several CSC choosing whichever of Spain or location. You can search the Internet for the CSC. (Mine was PHE), this can also be seen when viewing the Stock ROM file includes code.
5. - They give the Install button, and the phone will restart, but when that happens, it automatically makes a Wipe will erase all applications.
NOTE: We agree that to flash the Stock Rom, starts in another language, then change it in-law, beginning in SPANISH. So if it works and check Kies, and I no longer went out that Messaging

[Q] [solved] problem in pairing with pc via wifi

sorry if this problem is mentioned before in the forum. i tried searching in forum and google as well, but couldn't find anything similar to my problem.
i am having a problem while pairing my Xperia ZR with my PC (Windows 7 64-bit SP1). i had successfully paired my ZR with my PC few months ago but few days i accidentally deleted the pairing setting on my ZR. now when i am trying to pair again i cannot do it. below are the steps i do:
1. connect my ZR to my PC via USB (MTP mode)
2. in My Computer right click on my ZR in Portable Devices
3. select Network Configuration
4. a Portable Device Network Configuration window opens, i click on Next
5. at this point the Portable Device Network Configuration freezes on "Transferring settings on your device" screen. i have to End Task it to close it.
i have tried removing device drivers and reinstalling them through PC Companion, no help.
i have uninstalled PC Companion and downloaded latest version from Sony website, still no help.
the last time when i was able to pair it successfully i was on Jelly Bean. now i am on Kitkat. could somehow this be the problem causing factor?
please help. i have been trying to resolve this since many days now.

Sorry! I have a very similar problem, cannot connect on Wi-Fi with computer at all, since kitekat. Been reading forums for solutions, couldn't find anything that helped. I just gave up.

Hi, I'm using xperia Z and i'm able to pair by device with pc - wireless. Initially i was experiencing the same issue- freezing of network configuration. Once i updated my PC companion, accessed my xperia connectivity in settings and tried again and its worked.
I'm using windows 8 64 bit in my lap and running the latest kitkat in my xperia z.

it seems like problem at windows end (may be some driver problem) because both my pc companion and phone software are up to date and i still can't pair my phone over wifi...

if you need to transfer files over wifi try es file explorer

OK, I got it.
1.Wait for "not responding" screen of pairing screen
2. ctrl+alt+del > go to Aplications tab
3. right click on not responding app and click on "go to process"
4. than system will mark you xxx32 process, and just END PROCESS it
5. don't close windows task manager
6. try again pair device, and watch memory used of process, thay will moving 2-4K and if memory use move dont end task, just wait (1 min), and than your phone will notificate, and press PAIR on phone.

2. when it stops responding open task man and kill its process
3. try pairing again
4. It WILL not respond again, but just wait for a couple minutes. It'll magically finish

tried again and worked this time. thank you. though we were unable to locate the actual problem, the workaround has been found.

Remove PC name
For me works this approach:

finally solved problem. its very easy. i m showing you how to do it. (as Example my pc name is Lines-PC)
1. connect phone to pc via usb cable
2. Open your phone internal storage
3. Find your pc name file as my pc name is Lines-PC
4. Remove thet Lines-PC (Delete your pc named File) File
5. Go back and Configure again. It will work good as before.

SOLUTION
Alright, it is for the benefit for every sony xperia user that i chose to register for this xda developer account and post the probable solution. Least for me...
For quite a period of time i have been trying and trying but to no avail. Well, guess what all you need to do is to include your device as part of the exception that could be blocked off if you do not include it in your exception list. MEDDLE WITH YOUR ANTI-VIRUS/FIREWALL/SMART SECURITY SUIT...whatever you could find that will hinder you to connect your xperia with your pc wirelessly. Also, make sure you don't give up and throw your phone into some fire since the phone is with some water resistant ability i figured it wouldn't kill if you throw it into the water. HAHAHA. Anyway, yes it is the firewall that got into the way for me and i did pair up successfully until the stage when the device is suppose to connect to the phone then it just said failed to connect no matter how many times i tried. Okay, issue solved i hope? Happy connecting wirelessly! =D

You did notice that this is an emulated device I hope? Rules for an emulator and for a live device are usually different.. just because a fix works in the emulator it doesn't have to work with the device.. and as far as I'm aware it doesn't.

Here, guys, tweaks for our HUAWEI W1.
Go to \Windows\Packages\RegistryFiles and place OEMSettings.reg here.
First bootup will be ~2 minites.
Tweak list:
-Camera sound on/off in sound settings;
-Wi-Fi connection sound on/off;
-3g/Wi-Fi arrows in status bar switched on;
-Activated PfD (don't install program);
-Jailbreak(interop unlock,capabilities unlock)
-Can be installed hacked appx's from wp-seven
-SDK registered
-Search button opens google
-Any app can be placed to camera's button (e.g. OneShot)
-Now you have Nokia Lumia 920 (doesn't really work).
To make your phone 'NL920', you must mount in regedit 'SYSTEM' and install 2nd (zip). After that, you can easily install all Nokia Exclusives via SysApp Pusher (also, more apps in store!).

I think you've got a typo in the OEMSettings.reg file (inside the same-named archive), on one of the tweaks that's supposed to give file system via USB:

Will this work with Huawei Ascend W1-U00 from Globe PH plan?

My phone was given to me by my mother who received it with her Globe (a Philippine mobile network service provider) postpaid plan (which unusually uses prepaid services). I've been frustrated with this phone's storage becoming full very easily even though I only have very few apps (except for Spider-Man Unlimited which downloaded a 200-MB DLC) installed and I don't put any files in the phone storage. Since Huawei seemingly abandoned their Windows phones, there's no hope of us getting any update so we're stuck with the stock WP8 update 1. Will this custom ROM work with this particular W1-U00? Does anyone know where I can get a stock ROM for this particular phone?

I have the U34 and I've not been able to flash it. I always get the same cookie error in QPST, and handshake failure error in WP8 Flash Tool.
I hope you will be able to find the way to flash the U34.

You need install Windows 7, Use Qemu or Vmware. Drivers from package with QPST doesnt works in W8.

That's not true at all. QPST works perfectly fine on Windows 8. The only issue is if you're running a x64 OS, in which case you need to run the QPST programs as admin.

Problems with Flashing

At First thanks for the good work. I will donate it, if i getting it work for me.
I got some Problems with flashing.
1) With Flash Tool:
Diag Setting is on, Phone is resetted and with the Flashtool i get the "Firmware Handshake Fail"-Error.
2) With QPST i can get into Download Mode (Qualcomm ... 9008) but then it shows me a "Cookie not received"-Error.
I tried the Flashtool in Downloadmode but that doesnt recognize my device.
My PC-Config:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
Intel i5 Notebook
My Handy-FW:
Huawei W1-U00 Simlock Free
OS Version: 8.10.14203.306 Developer Preview

I got the Problem. It only works for me without Diag Settings and only with QPST.
The folder from the Repair Bootloader was: W1-U00 Repair bootloader/flashing/
and i only copied the "flashing" folder. Now no "Cookie"-Error.

Step 2 error
I finish step 1. Flash custom ROM with QPST (Windows 8.1 x64).
Phone in mass-storage mode (all disk available).
Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device present in Device manager.
When run WP8CRUU get error: Cannot open device "Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device" Error 5 .
Whats wrong?

With phone connected as mass storage reinstall Qualcomm USB drivers!

Error 109 on WP8CRUU.exe
Does v1.10 require v1.00 flashed first? I'm getting an error 109 (Cannot open device Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device) when I run WP8CRUU.exe. My phone's (W1-U00) already in mass storage mode.
Now, I'm getting an error 5 (Cannot open device Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device).
Can anyone please help me with this? I was able to flash the ROM with mass storage mode capability and set my phone to mass storage mode. Now, I can't flash the custom ROM because of this error. I don't think I missed anything. I'm running this on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I didn't install MS Visual Studio 2013 since it requires Windows 8.1. I did install the Qualcomm USB drivers, simpleio, and QPST. I have MS Visual C++ 2005, 2008, and 2012 (all 32-bit) installed.
Arhy's workaround didn't work for me, by the way.

Or is it possible to do a "backup" of personal data in wp8 and do restore in wp8.1 ?
Any hints welcome.

As far as is can see you just can backup fotos, messages, and IE-settings.
(no contacts, calender-information, certificates,...)
Is there another way to get at least my contacts from WP8 to WP8.1?
An additional question:
Is it possible to get back to WP8 after flashing the WP8.1 rom?

Hi, i try to install these rom.
To install that i do this steps:
1) Enter Qualcomm emergency mode
2) Click Start>All Application>QPST>QPST Configuration and configure phone
3) Start>All Application>QPST>eMMC Software Download，Click “Load Build Contents…” Select contents.xml in unrared W1-U00(C00)Repair bootloader.rar，Check "Program Boot Loaders",UnCheck "Program MMC device", Click Download
4) After complete, the port will change into Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9006
5) UnCheck Program boot loaders，Check Program MMC device，Select Qualcomm MMC port，Click Download again.
6) Wait for it to complete, disconnect phone.
7) Press and hold "vol -" then also press and hold Power button and connect the phone to the computer, now the device manager will display WP8 UEFI USB SimpleI/O Port.
8) Run Flash Tool , select ROM file / Config XML and click "Scan && Download".
9) When phone displays 100%, and the inscription OK. The process of flashing rom is complete. Now you need Reset the phone (press power button on 15 sec or remove battery). Flash tool displays information about the bad file FFU, just ignore it
10) Run device in mass storage mode
11) Run WP8CRUU.exe... BUT
No instrunction, only black console. when i close the console the copy begin.. but stop at 45% with "Error: cannot write 5 file. Error 5"
