HTC One dead? Help please! :( - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Right basically my speakers started acting funny, crackling at the bottom no sound at the top. So thinking it might just be some metal and dust in there i decided to open it up which went quite well i cleaned it all out and put it all back together. I went to turn it on & nothing, just flashing back & home so i opened it back up and double checked the connections and things they are all fine, i turn it back on & nothing! just the flashing back and home. It shows the charging LED. I have tried the power + vol down to no avail so i'm hoping one of you great people can help me!?
Thanks:highfive:

So it looks like you performed a self repair and opened your phone right? And it seems like you, in one way or another, tampered with the screen involuntary.
I would suggest going to a repair shop and seeing if they can help you. The HTC one is a hard phone to fix and self repairs aren't ideal.

Center part of Screen Unresponsive

I was flashing a rom
Left RomManager on my phone a bit longer than normal, because i had to do some errands.
The battery was near to dying but i flashed CM7 nightly anyway
The battery didnt die in the flashing process but said 5% at the first launch
I plugged it into the charger and configured it.
I was on the 3rd or so screen when i noticed something strange, i couldnt click on certian parts of the screen.
I had to open the keyboard and use the D-Pad to push the next button.
Once i was on the stock adw launcher when my phone started acting bizarre.
It would move things around and open apps by its self.
Curious to see the pattern involved, i managed to get DevTools open and opened the "Pointer Location" section. It looked like the pointers where stuck on the middle of my screen.
I locked my Phone then unlocked it and it stopped. I noticed i was completely unable to select any center part of the screen
doing so would result on selecting the closest available pixel
I gathered some data by miving my finger in a single motion back and forth from top to bottom and these where the results [see pics]
Does anyone know how to fix this
also, i tried flashing different roms with no luch
Ive got the same issue with the left 3rd of my screen! any ideas on this? did you get it fixed somehow?

Try sbf back to stock, if it's still broken I'd try to get a new phone, I had a droid do this and the whole screen would only respond for the first minute when you turned it on, got it replaced for free because I was still under warranty

Lock button doesn't work and no download mode

Hey everybody,
A few weeks ago my Captivate lock button stopped working. I am under the impression that it is a software glitch, but I haven't had time to play with it until now. I finally got the phone to show up on my computer (it was stuck booting into ClockworkMOD, but the select button didn't work. So I basically had a useless phone). I used Odin and flashed to 2.3.3 with Master Clear thinking it would fix the glitch and everything would work like normal again, but I was wrong. The lock button still doesn't work, and now I don't have my phone rooted. I want to flash back to stock Eclair, maybe that will fix this glitch, but I can't get into download mode. No button combo, no adb...nothing.
I'm here, because I want to know if anybody else has this problem, or if there is a fix that I can't find searching all over the Internet. Or if anybody knows how to root the Captivate without going into download mode.
Thanks in advance
Actually had this issue too. Searched Google and found it was a fairly common issue over time. I ended up taking the phone apart and actually cleaned the button on the main board with rubbing alcohol and a q tip, let it dry, and it's been working great since. There are videos on Youtube that walk through taking it apart. Not sure what you can do if you're not comfortable doing that, but that's what worked for me.

great thanks! I will try this out, I wasn't sure if I would have to ultimately come to cleaning the hardware.
Looks like I know how my Friday night is going.

I was hoping the same thing too and just kept flashing and flashing with no avail. Pretty much just said screw it and went for it, haha.
NOTE: If you look in the videos you'll see that there's quite a bit of prying done on the top close to the usb cover. BE CAREFUL. I snapped that rreeeeally thin part off and had to do a weird superglue job to get it back on to even use the cover again. If you lose that little part, the cover slider won't stay on. Just a helpful warning as to not repeat my mistake!

How did you go about cleaning around the button? I have it opened up and cleaned to the best that I could see, but it still thinks it's constantly being pushed it. I can tell, because the phone turns on automatically when I put the battery in.

SAME thing happened to me too, haha. I soaked a Q tip in rubbing alcohol and just kept pressing the button with it so you can clean the inside of the button. Probably best if once you clean it, you hit it with a hairdryer for a few minutes to dry it off completely. My button slowly started working more as it dried off and works completely now. Just gotta make sure it's dry.
So yeah, get a q tip, soak it in rubbing alcohol, and press it to the actual button a bit, let it dry.

Inside our phone there is 2 wires from the top board to the button board, it can be one of those that has lost connection.

[Q] Phone keeps shutting down. Three vibrations

My Xperia Sp brought on contract from EE was working fine until earlier this week. The phone had 30% charge left when the phone shutdown. When i went to turn it back on, the phone vibrated three times and nothing happened. I tried plugging the phone into the mains and charging but the phone kept vibrating in a series of three vibrations. I tried the common answer to any problem with this phone and held the power off button at the back in and pressed the on button but this didn't work. I have also tried other combos such as the one Sony emailed me which was to hold power up followed by the on button but this did not work. The next day the phone magically turned on and i used this as an opportunity to back up my data off the internal memory and re-flash the stock android 4.3(12.1.A.0.266). The phone lasted a couple of hours but then did the same as before and kept vibrating. I left the phone a bit and when i got it to power on again, i flashed android 4.1.2 (12.0.A.2.245) onto the phone. The phone worked for only an hour before shutting down again and not turning on. I have tried various shops in my town, the first said they think it is software but they couldn't fix it, the second said it is a battery issue but they would have to order in a new battery and I also tried EE who refused to even look at it as my contract didn't come with warranty. Sony have emailed me back asking me to send it off to them, but i have no proof of purchase so that is out of the question. I have also searched Google for hours trying to find a solution but the only on that sounded remotely like my issue was apparently a sleep problem, but this is clearly not the case. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give to me about this issue. Thanks in advance to any help given
Phone is vibrating when you push and hold the off button under the back of the phone, it may be broken and its hardware issue, you must take it to sony centre

I brought the phone last october after my first sp(red) stopped charging as the usb port got damaged. I have used that button loads of times before using pens, pins and even a ds stylus to use it. The slight cover on that button has gone as a result.

[Q] Help Please - HTC One Water Damage Urgent

Hi Guys,
I know this was a bit of a stupid thing to do but the other day I accidently dropped my phone in to a small amount of water, enough to submerge my HTC One. It was in the water for a second as i pulled it straight out. It seemed to be working Ok still though. It was going a little crazy like when i opened Whatsapp and opened a conversation it would open the persons profile or toggle attachment options and it kept opening the AccuWeather page when i was trying to scroll apps. My speakers and sound was also very faint for a while as well.
I plugged it into my tablet via the USB port the LED light came on and it charged. In the night i woke up and the phone was off, so i hit the power button it came on as normal but was still going a little crazy, so i left it on charge and went to sleep. The following morning i woke up it was still on but still toggling things, i had to keep turning the screen off and then on again to be able to write a message or make a call before it started to toggle other things, but the speakers had gone back to normal and the phone seemed to be sorting itself out. Then while in the middle of a call the battery died and now i cant charge it. It has been on charge and in a bowl of rice all night and it still wont come on, theres now LED light, the computer has stopped recognising it, it said at first an unknown device was plugged into the USB port now it doesnt recognise anythings plugged in.
I really need this phone to come on soon I use it for everything, work, travelling, holding documents etc i really don't want to have to send it away where it will all get wiped, some of the stuff I haven't had a chance to back up yet. Any advice would be gratefully received, if you get it to work I am happy to reward in some way.
Many thanks,
Hollie
It's probably totally fried. The rice trick works best if you turn it off and do it straight away. If you left it too long the water has probably had time to seep through. Sorry I think it has to go in for repair

Oh dear i was hoping that wasn't the case, but never mind. Thank you for your help all the same. Have a good day

Not necessarily fried! Take out any takeoutable parts.
Put alll parts in a warm dry place (airing cupboard) and LEAVE IT ALONE FOR A DAY OR TWO.
Many phones have been saved this way.
