from the screen with the red triangle push power + vol up to see the menu then
Navigate down to "apply from phone storage" text and press power to confirm
Navigate to the location where you copied the OTA update.zip package and press power to confirm
Wait (sometimes you might need to follow further instructions on the screen) until the update process is finished
Once system is booted you should see a confirmation about the successfully flashed update.

Well those are the instructions .. keep trying till you get it
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47451795&postcount=4
Press all physical keys simultaneously and it should bring up the menu in stock recovery. It might take a few tries though, the timing have to be perfect.
also try (briefly) POWER + VOLUP, that seems to be working quite a bit

this method is perfectly fine and wont void your warranty. you will also receive future updates. if you want to go back to stock 2.1, i believe you will have to do a full wipe in bootloader but i am not sure of that (i know it is possible though)
Hi guys,
I am have a international htc one 4.2 stock (never rooted), now when ever i select the recovery option in the bootloader i get a green symbol and after some time a red triangle appears with exclamation mark and the phone reboots after some time.
My phone came with 4.1 and i updated it to 4.2, never rooted the phone what so ever.
I do not want to root my phone or install custom recovery, what can i do to get into stock recovery??

That IS stock recovery.
if you want to get to the menu, I believe you have to simultaneously press POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN briefly (you're probably gonna have to try a few times to get the timing correct.

yeah any time in stock recovery (green or red), you may need to try several times to get to the menu (like the other post I linked)
Well, thanks to this post I entered the recovery.
I made a lot of combinations until I got the good one. You have to press VOL UP + VOL DOWN buttons together and a half second later press power button. :good:
I'm at this point and I get this quick error message then the phone reboots. What am I missing? I'm stock on my way to root. I'll see if I can catch that error message. Oh, it happens when I try to do the 'install from phone' option, or card, I tried both and I get rebooted as described.
Okay, something about 'check id failed' and more but it comes and goes so fast. One more time...
Okay, "invalid operation... rebooting...". Also, before all that it says something about missing cw file too.

It was life saving for me Bro . I had no idea whatsoever to solve this. If you Don't mind, i have a kind of tricky question here, i had gone back to my stock rom that is sense 5.5 with android 4.3 because i liked the camera feature (the slow motion option and the sequence shot and the group photo edit, i really loved it:victory which is missing after the OTA update to sense 6 and android 4.4. Is there anyway i can retain those stock camera features, hope you understand what i mean. It would be very grateful if it is possible. Thanks in advance, and thanks again for saving me from the recovery issue.

No man, it's not possible, it's just possible to download an old stock rom with Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5 to have the camera app back, otherwise there is no any other option.
i cnt do it...can u explain????

What about adb, do adb commands work in TWRP recovery?
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
Hopefully that will get you to the bootloader to flash firmware or an ruu if one is available for your device.
Press the power button and Volume Up button at the sametime for roughly 20 seconds.
The phone will reboot.

Hello all. I an S-Off running ViperOne and decided to update my firmware, but I used the 4.20.651.10 Modified Firmware....removed recovery (fastboot flashable) instead of the one with the removed boot as well. Now it's just at the white HTC screen after I rebooted. Any way to get out of this situation? I made a nandroid before I did anything.

You shouldn't have to but you can if you want.
The reason it didn't boot is because the zip you flashed had the LP boot.img/kernel included.

Got it, thanks. All I was trying to do was update the firmware before trying the new ViperOne and I almost had a heart attack when it wasn't booting. I didn't realize you could do vol. up + power to simulate a battery pull, or I wouldn't have even needed to make this thread. Thanks for your help.

press and hold volume down and power button until phone goes off and chimes - still holding volume down release power button count to 5 and release volume down
phone should boot to APfastboot mode use volume down scroll to recovery and press volume up (NOT power) - logo then black screen and finally fallen android.
now hold POWER button and quickly tap volume up - should be in Android system recovery <3e>
use volume down factory reset- this totally wipes phone - takes a while - then reboot system now
if no better must be corrupted download try to re download again or see my signature (blue) and re install LXB22.99-16 this will wipe phone to as new and you should get update again

re flashing rom will delete data yes -if you still have locked boot loader you warranty is still valid, you can flash same rom or go upwards in number version with a locked boot loader
the apply update from sdcard in standard stock android recovery in referring to internal sdcard (internal storage) not you micro sdcard
