Hi I've got my DS7 for a while now but 2 days ago it stopped charging battery.
I thought maybe the charger is broken so I plugged it to my laptop via USB cable only but every time I've tried my laptop crashed and turned off ( I've got Asus G72GX which have safety switch when there is issue with power ).
I've tried also to connect it to my PS3 to charge it but no sucess too.
Right now I can't do anything about it because Dell Support told me that even if my DS7 is still on warranty I can't calim it because I bought it from Amazon from original owner, bastards ...
Any ideas ? Is it common issue with DS7's ?
No this is not common. Was it like this when you first bought it?
The s7 will not actually say it's charging if it's not on a 1/2A source. Pretty much only dedicated chargers can provide 1/2A, most laptops and pcs and etc usually dont.
You can get a cheap charger replacement at Amazon.

It was allright before.
I just bought new charger on ebay to check if its the charger or the actual device issue but it will arrive probably after christmas.
Thanks everyone.
i bought a 3rd party 2A Car charger and it still charge my Galaxy Note 2 slow. Anyone can recommend me a good charger which u guys are using right now?

Mod edit
Very unlikely that will work if doing intensive stuff on the note as the charging is made for Apple products we have a long thread discussing car chargers in the Sprint forum

This is the charger that I use. I admit that I don't charge my Note II in the car very often, but the few times I've used it, it worked well.
+1 - I use this charger and it seems to charge just as fast as my AC adapter, although I've never used the phone simultaneously as its charging. Obviously i have it plugged in to the 2A side.

Very hard to beat this charger. I have a few of them to take on trips and such, in case I forget it. Fast charging... at least double to triple what I saw trying to charge off a USB port (car or PC).
Plus you can't beat the price! Just make sure it's genuine (the one on amazon is).
Just bought one of THESE 3 days ago. Works fine here.
So do any of these actually charge at 2A? Does CurrentWidget report it as 2A?
Do they significantly increase battery life while in heavy use (using satnav with screen on)?
Thanks.

was thinking of getting one trough your link, turns out its a refferal link
ive been reading the thread and im sure no one has said this
my girlfriend and i had the same problem with jelly bean she has S3 3G i have S3 4G LTE
when i plug a cable with 4 pins (we have 3 of them) in ether my phone or my gf phone both on JB they charge as they please but when we plug a cable with 5 pins (we only have 1) in they charge fine
before the update to JB from ICS on her S3 3G it charged fine with the 4 pin cable
so the only conclusion i could come to was that it was to do with the 4 pin 5 pin cable
if you look in the end of the cable you plug in to your phone you should find 5 pins not 4 if you find 4 pins in the end of the cable you plug in to your phone not the end you plug into your charger or usb port (not to say anyone is stupid im just making sure im clear thats all )
if you find you have the problem you can just call samsung the number to call is on there website and they will just replace it the options for the s3 are early on it even says if your calling about the s3
they sent her a complet charger and cable her replacement was fine but my cable had the same fault i rang them back and the appologised and they are sending me another replacement and i asked them to make sure it had 5 pins they put a note on what was said and i hope the person that finds it in the warehouse looks
now her phone chages perfectly fine and so dose my phone when i use her charger
i even called a service center and spoke to a engernear just to make sure before i called samsung
i just hope this helps people
if anyone has any questions just ask if i can answer them i will
em...I encounter the same problem too. Unfortunately, when I claim warranty at Samsung Service Center, they give me the new charger and cable with 4 pins too. I asked them, they said all the cables are with 4 pins. They show me all the cable in their service counter, omg! All are 4 pins. Luckily, I test the charging speed on the spot and found that it's work fine.
It's so weird. Then, I checked my gf Galaxy W's cable is with 4pins but I checked my friend's Galaxy Nexus cable is with 5pins. So, I not sure whether is the cable or the plug issue.

What you mean by "problem with charging"??? It's all OK here but I've checked cable and you're right. There are 4pins only. Haven't noticed it before.
For me bigger problem was the lenght of cable (really short...). I've got few spare USB cables at home and simply swapped it with longer one (5pins) ...
No need to call Samsung and moan about

have you tryed both cables the 5 and 4 pin cables to see if they work better
all i know is that it fixed my problem and my gf. what i would do is ring samsung and not to go into a service center i rang a service center and asked an engernear as i said and they told me that it should have 5 pins in not 4 so try ringing a service center and asking then ringing samsung direct the phone numbers is on there site they jut sent me a new one to my house that one was faulty as well so rang again and there ending me another so i will let you know whats that one is like but not everyones problem will be the same some people could have a 5 pin charger and still have the problem then i could be the board someone else aid to me there could be other problems that i dont know about

carging problem ok well when my gf S3 3G was on ICS it charged fine but as soon as she updated to JB it started charging funny charging as it wanted but as soon as i got my first S3 4G LTE it had a cable with 5 pins and her phone started to charge just fine no more problems but there was a problem with the phone so i sent it back got another S3 4G LTE it had a cable with 4 pins charging problem again rang samsung and so did my gf they sent both of us a replacement hers had 5 pins my one had 4 pins her cable works fine and my cable dosent so the only conclution i could come to is that its to do with that i have 3 cables with 4 pins and one with 5 and the ones with 4 dont work and the one with 5 work perfect what else could i conclude from that

Thanks OP. I always have a bunch of cables but I have a few that I ordered that I know are consistently good quality no matter which device. I try to keep track of these and lend out the others.

Hi I have a xperia arc s charger that has been going strong for a number of years. Model ep 800 with a Sony ec801 data cable (xperia z).
Output is 5v and 850 ma. I usually charge at night so the extra time won't matter to me I've got the original charger in the work bag in case I need it.
The old charger won't damage my new nexus 6 will it?

It's no problem. I regularly use an old Samsung Note 2 charger on my N6.
Cool now just wondering whether to use ambient display or not, some say it's a battery hog some say it's fine. Oh well trial and error here we come.
Has one else completely trashed the USB port and had problems charging and connecting it via the computer and then mysteriously it started working flawlessly? Mine is working perfect after 6 months of wireless only charging...

That often happens when you feed it a new cable.

It was a used cable that I have tried several times in my girlfriend's car. She uses it daily to charge her phone and then I tried it as a last ditch effort when my phone was drained. Then I went in the house and tried an older cable I used to use and it worked perfect.

I've had my Nexus 6 since launch and I finally had to replace the battery about a year ago and around the same time my USB port started to have issues. I ordered a new port, but I moved since and have no idea what I did with it. It's fairly easy to replace on your own and parts are cheap. I think I bought two ports off eBay for 5 bucks and the battery for 15. Cheap China stuff I know, but it works.
Sometimes it starts working again when I get out the canned air and spray the port, but eventually it gets testy again.
I can't stress enough to replace the parts yourself if you can. This is the only Android device to last me as a daily driver for more than one year. I've only recently been considering something new because development has been slowly moving away from it and I love experimenting with different ROMs.
