Official 4.3? YES you have to.
Leaked?? U dont have TA partition at all (after unlocking BL)

Late reply!!!...
What @smogf said ^^
If you are flashing the official one you need to
If you are flashing the leaked one you need unlocked bootloader so the TA is not there ...

[Q] TA: To exclude or Not to exclude

Hello
I have Indian SP C5302. I want to install install the Australian generic 4.3 stock FTF (.266). I just read somewhere that one have to exclude TA partition while flashing it with flashtool whereas I have previously installed 4.1.2 stock FTF available here without excluding TA.
Can anyone please clarify under what circumstances one has to exclude TA or does not have to exclude TA during flashing stock FW.
Thanks in advance.

Even if you select it on flashtool nothing will happen, it wouldn't get flashed, so choose either of them it wont harm your device.

[Q] Going back to stock

Hey guys,
Have a quick question here. When it was possible to (properly) unlock bootloader. I backed up my TA partition, root, unlock and custom ROM e.t.c.
Now, I wanted to test out stock 4.4 from Sony. Do I simply download the FTF and flash it via Flashtool? Will BIONZ e.t.c. work? Or do I have to go back to 4.2 stock, restore TA then it will work?
Or simply flash something like RomAur 4.4.2, and need not worry about TA (and BIONZ e.t.c. will work)?

Bionz is gone after you unlocked your bootloader. You'd have to restore your ta backup to get it back

It's always been possible, but there was an issue regarding unlocking bootloader at first with the camera bug.

This is what I meant. So, to have bionz, I would have to restore TA, relock bootloader and not have custom kernel (like Doomlords). And just flash something like RomAur.

Justt resotre the TA, that relocks your bootloader anyway
RomAur is not a stock rom, flash a FTF after retoring your TA, it will also install the stock kernel you will need on a LB

Yep, from what I was reading, I have to flash the same version of the stock that I backed up TA with, then restore TA (which will re-lock bootloader), then I can flash the LB version of RomAur.
However if I want to use DoomKernel, I will need an unlocked boot loader. Since I am currently running SlimKat, it would make more sense to just download RomAur and flash it and DoomKernel via CWM and not worry about TA restore (since I lose it when unlocking).

Yes, but you said you wanted a stock rom, and RomAur is not stock (It is stock based, but it is not stock)
If you want RomAur just flash it.

Yeah sorry. RomAur (stock based). Just flash it. Simple. If I want TA/BIONZ though, will need to go completely stock + locked BL.

No, just restore your TA, ensure you have a stock kernel. You can still flash stock based custom roms on a locked bootloader.

Lost BE After bootloader Re-Lock

I know It sounds strange but when I relocked my Bootloader with my TA i lost bravia engline
although I did that before and BE2 was working on 4.3
Any Suggestions I tried Relocking and reflashing
tried Several TA'S I had made
no luck
And BE works in the movie app
when you unlock your bootloader your drm's gone for good!!
if you didn't backed up your TA then it's lost forever
Actually I have 3 TA's which don't work
Forever No BE2

EVERY phone's TA signature is unique. u are lucky not to hardbrick ur phone...
All 3 are made from my phone
One when I had 4.2
one after flashing 4.3 (It's After restoring 4.2)
One before Flashing 4.4
I know very well what would happen if i flash someone's TA into my mobile

did you get any errors when flashing?
if you have backed up using TA backuper you can flash back to 4.3 then restore your TA,
if you have backed up using flashtool, DRM are lost! you can't restore your DRMs

Backup TA
Fixed after restoring 4.3
Unlocking on 4.3
Flashing 4.4
Rooting with CWM kernel
Restore TA
System Restore
Wait for 2-3 H and it will work by itself

[Q] Relocking Bootloader, kernel, updating and more!

So, I'm on Central Europe 1 4.4.2, with doomlord kernel and root. I have a backup of my TA partition before unlocking bootloader.
I want to update to Central Europe 1 4.4.4, using the flashable zip that was posted and the stripped ftf.
Should I flash the stock kernel from FTF 4.4.2, restore my TA partition backup and update? Or update to 4.4.4, and after that restore my TA?
What are the bricking risks? Should I wipe everything? :crying: SO MANY DOUBTS
Why relock?
Just update by flashing the file

I have never noticed a difference.
Just update and then restore TA

If you want to go to totally "out of the box" device and have OTA update info and few other things you just said then yeah...
First flash ftf and stick kernel and then relock bootloader...
If you restore TA and leave custom kernel you could have serious problems...

Just finished flashing 4.4.4 and stripped ftf without wipe or anything. omg I'm trembling lmao

No, there is no serious problem at all, you just need to flash a stock kernel via flashtool (In a stripped FTF or a full FTF) or via fastboot if you have the kernel.elf
So everything went smooth! Now i'm on 4.4.4 with root and locked bootloader BUT x-reality is not working LMAO. I'll try to install it now.
Edit: yep, it's definitely not working. I relocked bootloader for nothing! haha

Exactly what I said..
You have to flash stock kernel - there are many guys who relock bootloader on custom kernel - xda us full of stories like that..
They have toy now instead of expensive device..
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
No, it's very easy to fix, just flash a stock kernel after relocking the bootloader, it does not brick the phone relocking in a custom kernel, it just gives you a boot loop which is easily fixable

there is already a thread about that, but no matter
flash the original ftf (the one where you have backuped your TA!!), than relock the bootloader and at last, restore your TA BAckup now you are completely on stock and no one can figure it out, if your BL was unlocked or not

you can use .108 as well i think, what matters is that you are on 4.4.4 when you have backuped on 4.4.4 but btw, i can share .157 BAL with you, from baltic states, works well with non baltic states
