Return the phone, it is worthless.
How was the eBay sellers feedback? Kinda sounds like you got scammed. Unless they stated all that in the item description?

If he didn't say anything upfront....you can contact eBay if he won't refund you. They may force him to refund you. Also...negative feedback left on eBay can definitely tarnish his reputation there. But I wouldn't do that until you try to work it out with him.
Again tho...if he stated it had a bad imei ...then you're plain out of luck.

We need a sticky that says not to buy a Sprint Moto X for anything other then using it with Sprint. They are different then pretty much all other Moto X's, there are no unlock codes for them.
Yeah...that's ridiculous. LOL
So....for xda people for sure....don't buy sprint, at&t or Verizon. (Regular model)

Sprint use CDMA technology. Send it back and get a refund. You need to use a GSM phone, buy the T-Mobile / unlocked model of the Moto X.
Had you contact ebay yet? My case is same with you. Now i use it as a pad... just waiting one day someone unlock it successfully...

For at&t I was referring to not being able to unlock the bootloader. Verizon too. And if sprint can't be sim unlocked, or work on gsm carriers .....I'd stay away from those 3.

My curiosity is, if you unlock the AT&T version, will it work on T-Mobile's LTE network as well?
It should. I've used Xperia with no issues on TMo. Does cellunlocker work realiably for AT&T version?
I have heard about Roger's X being unlocked. But so far it seems nobody can confirm that AT&T moto maker ones can be unlocked. Or am I totally out off the loop?
Finally! With Motomaker's AT&T off-contract device available for purchase now, I understand that the SIM can be unlocked for use on non-AT&T networks. Does that mean it can even be used internationally? European and Asian networks?

Keep in mind that the AT&T version lacks the 1700 UMTS band, which means that if you're in an area where TMobile hasn't reframed (to use the 1900 band) you won't have 3G coverage. Basically you'll be switching between LTE and 2G in those areas, and considering TMo's LTE coverage that could be a problem. Get the TMo version unless you plan to travel to/live in Puerto Rico or Chile (according to Wikipedia...).

What are you talking about? T-Mobile doesn't offer ANY Motorola phones, let alone Moto X.http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Check their stores or the website. You can get a non-carrier branded unlocked phone directly from Google for $400-450 depending on the config.
Anybody knows if there is a way to unlock Moto X for free?http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Thanks.
I just got off of the phone with a Sprint support rep in the International services department, and according to her the SIM slot in the Sprint version of the Moto X is unlocked from the factory.
Can anyone verify that this is true?
Bump, I'm interested very much too!

That's the point, so Americans can use Sprint in the US, but when we travel just pop in an international sim.

I contacted Sprint support, they said before using it in other networks (gsm/umts) you must activate international service (which unlocks gsm). mine was not activated and here in Russia I'm stuck - phone sees our carriers but can't register. and sprint support can't help me as the phone isn't online on sprint or smth like that. that's such a pain in the ass 'cause I've had a Sprint Photon 4G before and it worked without any "making love"

Interesting. This is the first i've heard of that. There were other reports/posts that if your phone has active sprint service/account, you can call sprint and get the sim unlock code. Nothing was said about needing to just add international service to the account for the phone to be unlocked.
In any case, the moral of the story seems to be what Steve-x posted... If you are NOT a Sprint Customer, don't buy a Sprint X for international use due to all the posts of troubles and what seems to be impossibilities getting them SIM Unlocked (you can't just pop a non-sprint sim in "out of the box", Sprint will only unlock if your their customer, it seems no online services have the unlock codes for sprint moto X, etc).
Hi. I am from Argentina and I bought a Customized Moto X from Moto Maker(AT&T). I have to unlock the phone for use it in my country. The bands are the same so that isn't a problem.
What page is the better for unlock the AT&T Moto X?

Just go with the cheapest one you can find on eBay. I think I paid around $4 USD for my code. Most have money back guarantees so you don't lose anything if it doesn't work.

No, but I don't see how that would make any difference. An XT1058 is an XT1058. The unlock code depends on the IMEI and those are all different regardless of whether the phone was the standard store model or a customized MotoMaker one.

Hi there!
I am looking to get a Moto X to be used with any GSM carrier in the US and Europe.
(I don't want to root it)
Do I need to buy the Developer Edition or can I also get the No-Contract T-Mobile one (customizable via motomaker)?
Thanks in advance!
The T-mobile is unlocked and good to go, no need to buy the developer edition.

Are you absolutely sure about this? Do you know it for a fact, or have you just read it somewhere?
I contacted Motorola today, to verify that the t-mobile off-contract version indeed was sim-unlocked, but they replied that it WAS sim-locked, and also was carrying the t-mobile logo on the back.
I think it's really hard to figure out who to believe, since many are reporting that it comes sim-unlocked, but wouldn't Motorola be the one to know for sure?

I can't verify whether it's SIM locked or not but I have one in my hand and the T-Mobile XT1053 does not have any branding on it. There is no logo on it. There are no T-Mo apps on it either.

Hello,
I did some research recently, and this caused a little bit of confusion, so I'll post a quick question:
I'm trying to buy this phone on ebay (since I don't have a US CC card), which one should I get, the T-Mobile or AT&T version?
Requirements:
- to unlock it for Europe GSM
- install CyanogenMod
As of now I was going for the T-Mobile, since I've read it's easier to unlock the bootloader, but now I see that the CM is only for AT&T phones? Or am I mistaking?
Thanks!
It doesn't matter any more. When you purchase from the Moto web site you ask for the GSM version. There is no more differentiation between the T-Mo and AT&T versions. You'll get the XT1053, the former T-Mo version.

Yes, me. I bought a T-Mobile Moto X in November and had to choose my carrier. I bought another Moto X last week and there was no carrier selection, I only had to choose between GSM and CDMA. Both times I received an XT1053 with a T-Mobile SIM in it.

Yes, it does. Looks as if they changed it again. I didn't get that selection panel when I bought one a week ago. I guess you can still get the XT1058 model for AT&T. However, if I were buying one I'm not sure why I would order the AT&T model over the GSM model based on the description. I would get the XT1053 anyway.

Maybe they were temporarily sold out of the AT&T model? There is some LTE band on the AT&T model not available on the XT1053, but if I remember that band isn't used currently by AT&T in the USA anyways. People might also want all that wonderful added value bloatware software not on the XT1053 and have the inconvenience safety of a locked SIM.
