[Q] How to update to KitKat without Rooting or anything else? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've an HTC One (Unlocked) running on Jelly Bean 4.3 with Sense 5.5 but the thing annoying me is latest KitKat update is not available for my region (Pakistan) yet. Is there any way to update my device without rooting or anything else? I don't wanna take any risk!
P.S. Is KitKat faster than Jelly Bean on HTC One?

No there is no way to update your device if you don't want to do anything. If you don't want to take any risk then just don't do nothing and wait for the ota update...

4.1.2 is the newest stock. All the current D4 ROMs except Eclipse are 4.2.2. You don't need to do anything more than install a ROM in a slot via safestrap.

HTC ONE for a must have latest version addict?

I'm thinking of getting HTC ONE, and I'm an addict who has to have the latest version of android (CM).
Currently I have ONE X, and can't update to 4.4 because of no kernel/tegra or whatever.
Is HTC ONE safe for further updates? Because my old i9000 is much more 'open'.
htc one has good updates. sense based 4.4 is available also 4.4.2 cm based

[Q] When to convert to GPE for lollipop 5.0

Hi,
I am getting very excited about the release of the upcoming lollipop GPE.
Currently I am running Sense 4.4.4. I read that in order the get the new GPE you will have to convert your phone to a GPE version.
When would be the best way to do this? Before or after the update has stroke lightning?
I am S-off and have supercid by the way.

Hi
I think you're talking about update not about CM
The Google Edition update will be next week, it's confirmed by HTC on Twitter, so you don't have to wait so long
Android L for Sense you will get 90 days after releasing official code of Lollipop.
I advice you to flash now RUU with GPE 4.4 and update it to 4.4.4 coz I don't know if there will be RUU with Lollipop released
Regards
If you want to get 5.0 ASAP, then I would flash 4.4 GPE now and then do the OTA when it comes out.
You would or have to ?
Thanks for the advices. Guess I'll be flashing gpe today. I do hope that battery life is OK. Now I use an undervolt on elemental x, xposed to block Google services wake locks and greenify Facebook. And that has been giving great results
Battery life is ok without root and with stock kernel better then stock with sense

That article is 2 years old and no Crapsung is not going to update our device anymore as its now obsolete for them.
As far as I know official updates stopped at 4.1.2
The only way you are getting 4.2.2 or 4.4.4 or even 5.0 is by a custom CM or AOSP ROM
Thanks to all devs I have been on 4.4.4 around a year now

[Q] flashing older rom with newer/latest firmware

Hello all,
I'm soon going to get a third M7. The device I'm getting has been updated to latest official version with Sense 6 (Android 4.4.3?), so I guess firmware was also updated.
Since I hate Sense 6 (flame away ) I'd like to ask if it's ok to flash an older rom with Sense 5.5 (Android 4.4.2) without downgrading the firmware?
As far as I can remember I had no issues running a Sense 6 rom with older firmware on my previous device, but what about the other way around?
Thank you in advance!

You should be fine, as long as you're S-OFF.
Might want to doublecheck with some more experienced folks here.
