Recently i started having several issue, like active notification beeing stuck or not lighting up when i take it out of my pocket or flip it over.
But now it won't power off. I long press the power button and select the power off button it shut down but immediatly power on again!! it does that when plug in my computer, if it is un-plug it doesn't do that. I am pretty sure it wasn't doing that before.
Basically i can't charge my phone and have it power off.
Any body is also having that.
And what up with active notification I have been having problem in the last week..
thanks
I have the same power down issue but not the active notifications issue on TMO DevEd, unlocked bl, philz cwm, root, 4.4.2
I'm having the same issue with my and my wife's Moto X. Both 4.4.2 not rooted. Not sure how long it's been happening. Did you figure out the cause or solution to this issue?
If you want to charge a power off motoX you have to connect it to the charger (just a charger not a usb cable from a pc's port)
my motox do that since new, at version 4.2.2 as i remember...
the problem with the active notifications must be some kind of failure, has u installed some kind of screen protection wich can be blocking the front sensors ?, or u can try re-installing the firmware just in case some program are causing that behavior
good luck

As the title reads I am quite sure that the power button is broke in some way or another on my HTC Desire C. I believe this since the phone is off and I cannot start it up with the power button. The reason I think that it is the power button that is broken and not something else is that when I plug it into the charger the battery shows up on the screen as always and says its charging.
Now, I wont be able to have it in for service in a couple of months and I really need the phone right now.
I could probably live with a broken power button if I just got it to boot up, which is the big problem here! I have googled for answers and found some saying for example that to charge it while popping out/in the battery in different ways will make it automatically boot up but nothing seems to work.
Is there any way to power it up without using the power button?
(Probably a good thing to say that I am not using any kind of custom rom or whatever, everything is stock)
Would be really awesome if someone could help!
Hey guys,
I left my HTC One to charge and when I tried to unlock it, it wouldn't respond. Right now it's a blank screen, the red LED is on even when I unplug the phone, and the hardware buttons are lit. I've tried to restart the phone by holding the power, holding power + volume down, but nothing is working. Device isn't showing up under adb or fastboot devices. What is going on? How can I fix this?
Help me out. Thanks!
-Coby
Edit: Recently this has been happening to my phone frequently, but I am usually able to get it to restart doing the methods said above. This is the first time I can't get it to do anything.
Put it under a stronger light and longpress power + vol-
Try this
I was actually searching through old threads and found that same answer and tried it. I can't believe it worked! Thanks! Why does this happen though? And will this hopefully prevent it from happening later on?
Are you rooted with a custom rom?
However, idk why it happened

Why the stronger light? Im confused! :cyclops:
This has worked for me a ton of times too, I guess it must just trigger something with the light sensor the phone has and wakes it up.

It happened to me when i was rooted and used CWM.
It happened everytime i let the battery run down completely.
I havent rooted my replacement yet and when i let it run down, charged it for ten minutes and it booted straight up.
Seems to be an issue with the phone reading the charge state of the safety circuit in the phone. Mere speculation but i havent heard of it happening to anyone who wasnt rooted with custom recovery....

Can you please give me a little bit more details?
I have exact the same issue: The battery ran out completely, then I can't charge it or turn it on.
I have tried
1. with charger connect to outlet, power + vol-
2. with charger connect to PC, power + vol-
3. under desk light, without charger connected, power + vol-
Nothing worked for me.
Some questions:
- Should I connect the cable when I attempt to turn on the phone?
- Is normal desk fluorescent light "bright enough"?
- Should I move the phone under the light first then press the button, or the other way around?
Thank you for your help!
i have the same problem in my htc eye. i tried your solution. but it won't worked for me. phone still on blank screen and red light is on. how can i fix it?????
I have the Xperia T and I am trying to update to 4.3, I had tried to use flashtool, but the phone isn't recognised by the computer when I plug in the cable holding the down button. Now the update is finally here for me I tried using PCC but again having the same issue. I have tried two different computers and all the USB ports on them. I have also fully switched off the battery (holding down the power and up button keys for 10 seconds).
I am stumped as to what is wrong with the phone??
thanks
Can no one suggest anything I could try? I have a feeling its a hardware fault, but it seems like a strange one at that... I dont know if its related but the phone also sometimes doesn't wake from sleep, it seems to be awake but the screen is not on, which requires me to do a hard restart
I am really desperate! thanks

turn of your phone. open flashtool. do not connect the phone to pc. select the firmware and click on flash,. after a few seconds it asks for the phone to connect. the hold the vol - button and plug in the usb. release the vol - button after the green light turns on. this may solve your issue

thanks for the suggestion though
Interesting update (well not really), but I did some troubleshooting and stuff and found that when plugging my phone into the charger when it is switched off, it doesn't respond either (i.e. boot up). So I have a feeling that its the actual phone with a fault such as damaged pin in the usb port that relates to power when the phone is switched off?

I have the same problem.
When the phone is turned off it won't charge, either wiht the wall charger or with the USB cable connected to the computer.
I've sent an email to SONY but they told me so sent it to tech support.
It's not very easy to do it where I am so I'm looking for some other options.
I also noticed it when I was trying to update to 4.3.
PC Companion isn´t a solution since it asks to connect the phone to the PC while turned off pressing the volume down button, even to try the repair.
Can someone help?
Found the issue here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018466
Such a weird problem, but unplugging and reconnecting the battery solved all the issues I was having!

Have a look at the thread link above, very simple to solve just take off the back cover and disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes
I need to know is this considered as sudden death syndrome? Phone suddenly turn to this state when I charged it. It has been like this for the past 2 hours and I dare not switch it off. Phone never rooted and on official jelly bean software. Pls advise.

you are in odin downloadmode, perhaps you accidently put your device in odin mode, thats done by holding volume down/home/power buttons same time. just hold the power button and reboot your device

Hold the power button it did not reboot so I took out the battery for 5 minutes, reboot and the screen is back to normal. But what I don't understand is why the phone goes into odin download mode without me holding the volume down/home/power buttons ( happens few times this week). Sometimes battery won't charge even after I changed the chargers/wires (works well on my note) and sometimes on docking mode? I went into Settings > Accessories > none of the docking boxes are checked.

i have no idea, but could be hardware issue. I have a friend who has a i9300 and he had the same problem with battery not charging (with different chargers) only thing that worked was a usb cable connected to pc, though i dont know if he has solved the problem. perhaps your device wants a update, thats why going into odin mode just kidding. your on older firmware i guess with the old bootloader as i dont see the knox counter in the picture. maybe you want to update to 4.3, and maybe the battery not charging issue will be fixed but i highly doubt that. keep in mind that doing the update you will get knox bootloader and that crap SUCKS!, now thats not a big issue but when you root it and install custom rom the counter will be triggered and samsung repair service will not accept it if you want to send it to service.
I'll started off by saying that my bootloader is unlocked and I have flashed the Android 5.0 ROM (503b) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/orig-development/exp-lollipop-xperia-z-t2929369
Sorry if this is a bit long but I thought it'd be best to tell you the steps leading up to the potential death of the phone.
As far as I can tell the issue doesn't stem from a software fault as I've been running the ROM solidly for 2 weeks now with no issues apart from not being able to hear a call when I accept with something plugged in the headphone jack.
I wake the phone and go to unlock it and the touchscreen is unresponsive. I have known it to take a second or two to wake up so I gave it a minute then tried again.
No response. Screen hadn't dimmed either so I suspected it had crashed.
Held the power button and the power off prompt appears along with all my previous actions unfolding beneath it. Just for good measure I decide I'll reboot the phone as I sometimes do when it starts to lag.
Powered off fine. Go to turn it on and nothing happens.
Battery was on about 20% when I turned it off so I plugged it in and tried again.
No LED light when I plug it in, still no response to any button combination. No recognition over USB either.
So I'm going to leave it plugged in overnight as I've seen it recommended by a couple of people before. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if you managed to recover the phone?

Unfortunately no. The phone is doing absolutely nothing when any key combination is pressed and i've tried plugging it in via USB and doing these in case the LED light had developed a fault. Still nothing.
