Hello!
I bought a very cheap streak 7 from a guy saying it is bricked... It was stuck at Dell logo and kept restarting, Entered recovery mode, did factory reset it it works fine.
second problem with it was, it had broken screen (not LCD, only touch digitizer). Being broken it still worked fine.
few days ago I bought new digitizer, changed it, and now only 1/4 part of the touch screen works... I dont know, maybe digitizer itself is not working properly, but I cannot confirm that untill I have performed calibration.
So does anyone has any idea how to calibrate dell streak 7 screen
I tried:
did a factory reset - nothing
recovery screen - does not have that option
fastboot screen does not have that option
android display settings - nothing
Spent couple of hours googling around and still nothing. I read somewhere that after android update calibration option disapeared from recovery screen, so is there any chance I can downgrade to stock rom maybe?
please help
thanks!
There is no way to calibrate the screen.
So it could be the new screen is faulty?

I have lost my display on my Xperia phone.
The back light comes on -- but that is it -- NOTHING else.
Has anyone else experienced this and more importantly - fixed it ???
if so, what did you do
What have you tried to fix it? I'd say something like this goes in order;
1. Soft Reset (since you don't have a display, use the reset button next to the battery)
2. Hard Reset (hold both hard buttons while pushing the reset button with the stylus)
3. Call someone, either your carrier or SE.
I have the same issue.
About 2 weeks ago issue started.
Waking from sleep or turning on, backlight lights up, but screen is blank.
This is starting to happen more frequently. Sometimes it will work normally, but more and more it is just staying blank.
Also during normal use, screen will become "garbled." Random bits of the screen move around to other parts.
Even during these problems the phone is functioning normally, can even push the buttons on the touch screen even though they are not being displayed.
I have an x1i, hard-spl. Was previously flashed with TouchX 10.1. When issue started happening, I flashed with a newer itje WM6.5 ROM. Same problem.
Issue of screen being blank also happens when booting to the tri-colour screen.
Any ideas?
I had the same issue screen just refused to display. I sent it back to Sony E for repair. They repaired and returned within 7 days. On the repair bill they stated it was a loose connection.
Interesting, hopefully that's it.
Out of curiousity, what was the repair worth?
Just wondering how much i'm up for if that is the case and I send it back.

Yeah.. I know this topic is pretty old, but I exactly have the same problem..
I have the Xperia X1 or about 1 year and a half now, everything was working fine until 2 days ago:
1. If someone calls me or I call them, they don't hear me, but I DO hear them
2. Screen responds, but remains blank (backlight only turns on)
3. Screen shows once in a while, but it pixelates.
I'm thinking of a hardware problem here, anyone knows more about this?
- Tried rebooting > no effect
- Tried soft reset > no effect
In most of all above problems it would be becouse of damaged lcd flex cable. It's not cost too much but you will have to disassemble phone and change it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/for-Sony-Eric...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item563a472301
I went to unlock my phone a few minutes ago, and it wouldn't unlock. I have 6.5 on it and I went to slide the button to unlock it and it wouldn't move. I reset the phone, took the battery out and turned it back on, nothing. I then did a hard reset and now I am stuck at the 'Tap the screen to set up your Windows phone' except when I tap the screen, nothing happens. Is my touch screen dead?
Will HTC replace my phone if I purchased new less than a year ago?
I did a little searching on the AT&T forums and apparently this is not a terribly uncommon problem. From what I found in this post http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=116836 there is a 'Main Flex Assembly Cable with Outer Keyboard Mylar' that breaks from the openeing and closing of the keyboard. I am going to try to get AT&T to replace my phone since it is only 7 months old, but if they wont, I will probably try to do what the guy who posted that did.
If anyone cares, I reflashed the stock HTC rom and the screen still wasnt working. I called AT&T and they shipped me a replacement today.
Calling all X1 medics, surgeons and miracle workers
Ok so last night the when i got out my car my X1 hit the ground in my pouch (leather ones) it beeps and i think nothing of it. When i take it out of my pouch i notice the screen is white.
So I do the following..
I try to reset via the power button..... no luck
Next i remove the battery, so obviously it works, so the phone boots up.
Now the interesting part, phone boots up completely when it comes the enter password numerical pad the touchscreen does not want to work.
So I use the qwerty to enter my code. Its works but still my screen it dead to touch.
So next i do a hard reset( maybe was not the best idea dunno?) and this where i am cause i cant get pass the "touch the screen to activate windows" bit to do the setup of windows.
I even tried installing the ROM again but still end up at the same screen.
So anyone got any ideas where the problem lies?
You guys think my touch screen has gone to heaven?
Anyone know if I can do a soft reset and upload to the stock ROM without using the touch screen and can it be done now that i cant get pass the set up screen?
Thanks guys
i believe there are some roms that doesn't require you to touch the screen to continue.
examples are roms using wm6.5. sometimes you have to confirm something, but you might get it done with the ok button.
Does the screen NEVER show any image or does it look normal until the touch-the-screen-exercise?
Hi
Well the touch screen comes up and seems to be active cause when the screen dims and you touch the screen it goes bright again.
Like i said i did a hard reset so now when i boot up i get to the screen alignment exercise and i cant get further than that.
It basically boots up as normal just cant use the touch screen.
When i rebooted the first time after it feel i managed to use the qwerty to log into the phone but i no able to use the touch screen.
I could see everything as per normal but the screen touch ability is gone.
Do any of you guys know if there is another url where i can find a UK Generic rom besides rapidshare as it looks like its going in for repair number 2.
I am just hoping i will able to to soft reset.
I did download a exe ROM file from the ftp site but got a file corrupt error when i tried extracting the file. I also noticed the file would have extracted as a image file. Is this correct as its the first time i have seen this.
Thanks
Are you using a screen protector?
i'm affraid to say, that it's broken digitizer
My phone LCD backlight went out but other than that worked fine. After installing a new screen the phone will not boot past the moto logo.
I can get into recovery and charge only but if I try to boot normally it goes blank after the moto logo not even showing the boot animation.
Reinstalling old LCD allows it to boot but with no backlight is unusable.
Anyone have any ideas?

Assuming you are 100% sure you've hooked everything up correctly, it sounds to me like a faulty/incorrect screen. I've read about this happening to other people (Bionics, though), luckily (so far) I've never had any issue with any screen replacements.
I'll check the connections again. The replacement screen came from a damaged Droid 4 that would not even show the moto logo.
I was lazy and rather than open it all the way and replace only the screen I swopped the whole upper part of the phone slide. I'll try doing it the right way.
Edit: checked all connections and tried again. Still no go.
Where is my torx 3 bit!
Edit 2: tried again. Still works with old screen switching only the screen (and the things that CAN NOT be separated from it) still won't boot. looks like I need a new screen.
Did you buy a broken D4 and try to swap the screen? If so, that unfortunately might be why it was broken in the first place... The plus is that might then be an easy fix too... Then you'd have two!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I did get a broken D4. It had a bad board and would not even show the moto logo.
What's really strange is yesterday it was still not working and today it booted fine but now the touch screen is not working.
I'll keep trying to fix it.
Honestly it sounds to me like the front portion is busted. Perhaps it is just the digitizer that is broken, those tend to be much cheaper than LCDs...
Good luck and let us know how it pans out, it is always good to hear solutions to hardware problems!
Both touch screens/digitizers work with the lcd that has a bad backlight but not the one with the good backlight.
I examined the LCD with the good backlight and found a very small tear in the ribbon. Looks like I found the problem.
Some months ago I cracked my OnePlus 3T glass, but the screen and the touch were still working normally. No dead pixels and no touch problems. Yesterday I went to the cinema, put the phone into my pocket, then, when the movie ended, i got the phone out of my pocket and I noticed the screen wasn't turning on. The touch was still working, I even could open the dialer and listen to the sound feedback of the numpad. I tried many times to reboot my phone, without success. I searched for some solutions, but nothing worked for me. I even saw some people that had a similar problem, but they solved by wiping the cache through the Recovery Mode. When they get into the Recovery Mode the screen just turned on normaly and they could wipe the phone, but the same didn't happen to me. When i get into the recovery mode the screen still all black.
Should I considerer my screen is dead?
The biggest problem is I'm from Brazil. As OnePlus doesn't even exists in Brazil, I can't ask for repair with the brand. Only if i send the device back to the store i bought it, in China, or if I buy a new screen.
