[Q] i537 vs i9295 rom porting? - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

does anyone know what the difference is internally between the 2?
What does it take to change an 1537 rom, (4.3) to work on the intl i9295?

Internally they are the same. The difference is the i537 is locked to att, and has a locked bootloader. Don't flash an i9295 rom

It probably doesn't take much to get an i537 ROM to work on the i9295. The only difference between the two is that AT&T chose to lock the i537 bootloader making it impossible (currently) to install a custom recovery meaning you cannot flash custom kernels. This really limits what can be done to the i537. Currently there is only 1 custom ROM for the i537, and you could probably ask the developer to create a version that can be flashed to the i9295. One thing you'll want to make sure of is that you do not flash an i537 bootloader to the i9295, I don't know if it's possible or not, but nothing good can come of trying that. At the very least you would lock the i9295's bootloader, at the worst you could hard brick the phone.
If you're asking if the i537 stock firmware can be flashed to the i9295, I actually asked that same question and never got a helpful response so I don't know if it's possible or what the ramifications would be. At the very least I think it would be good to know if the i537 modems can be flashed and used on the i9295.

My carrier is T-MOBILE and I like the S5 Active. Dont care about the knox.
Im a noob when it comes to this Locked Bootloader stuff. Wondering if I can ODIN a TMOBILE radio/baseband so I dont have data issues or even ODIN a TMOBILE stock s5 ROM or any S5 rom that has an unlocked bootloader. :cyclops::cyclops:

Through towelroot, you have to downgrade the kernel. Check the att s5 general forum theres a thread with instructions. Also flashing a tmo rom will not unlock the bootloader.

If you're asking about the international version (i9295), then almost certainly yes, look through the development and original development sections and you'll find a few. If you're asking about the US/AT&T version, then unfortunately no. We have a locked bootloader and any attempt to flash a custom kernel (or a rom with a custom kernel, or a custom recovery) will cause a soft brick

This is SM-9005 or SM-900A?

Hi.
I have a problem to identify my phone.
I was bought it few days ago, and I don't know what model it's it.
Screenshots below.
Under battery it's says that this is a SM-9005 model, but under back cover it's says that this is a SM-900A model. In download mode it's a SM-900A model.
It is a SM-N900A.. Not sure why it would say N9005 under the battery tho.. The NC2 Bootloader belongs to At&t.. You are aware that your phone has a custom Rom on it right? The Rom on your phone has is one from the International Note 3.. You can easily revert it back to stock AT&T firmware .. Seeing you have the NC2 Bootloader you can not put any Firmware below Kitkat 4.4.2 witch I believe is what is on your phone right now.. You can also upgrade to 4.4.4 Kitkat or Lollipop 5.0.. At&t Note 3 has a locked Bootloader so be careful not to flash any Rom that is not TouchWiz base or custom Kernels, Meaning true AOSP roms like CM, Slim, Paranoid Android, Pacman an so on will not work an will more than likely harm your phone.. Hope this helps..

I want the international wersion. I don't like this 4g icon. Can I easy change it? Maybe it's a custom stock rom from N9005 without at&t apps and other bloatware? I really like stock touchwiz here but it's so many apps that I will don't use it never...what can I do now? Thanks for reply
Yes you can install another international as long as it is TouchWiz. So let's find out what kinda Rom you are looking for? Do you want to stay with Kitkat Roms or are you looking to upgrade to Lollipop? And another question, Are you familiar with Safestrap recovery? After you let me know I will get you links to a great Rom an easy to follow instructions for installation..
I'm having the same thing too. I got the device in the UK but it's an AT&T model.
I've got Safestrap on my device already and is looking to install Lollipop on it. How do you suggest I do that? I really like Knox security from Samsung but it is a pain to install ROM now. And I want to install a stock Lollipop on it if possible.
Thanks in advanced.

You are a life saver. I also have the same issue as mlekopan16. I bought my device in UAE online. Reading your post I am assuming my device is also 900A. I am also attaching screenshots from my device. Request you to have a look. I was able to install safestrap on my device and it is working fine now. I want to use custom lollipop roms on my device but dont know what does a locked bootloader mean. My question is can I install custom lollipop rom and can I still use it with any other network or it can only be used with AT&T? Please advice.
note 3 upgrade n9005 which is actually n900A

hello
i am having the same problem how do I upgrade my 4.2.2 kitkat phone which shows n9005 in android and n900a in download mode to 5.0 lollipop. i wish to do an update without locking the carrier
If the phone in download says it is an n900a, it is a AT&T Note 3 sm-n900a with a locked bootloader.
You will need to look here to upgrade to 5.0:https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703006

S5 safestrap. Do I need safestrap to put a rom in or can I just just odin?

I have a safestrapped rooted g900a phone. Running 4.4.2 with Unity rom v2.1.0. I've been looking for a newer rom. Perhaps marshmallow. I've googleed quite alot and have the understanding that safestrap won't work anymore. Not that I understand why 100%.
Can I just use odin and flash a newer rom and continue to use safestrap for booting?
As chance would have it... I purchased my s5 right when towelroot came out.
I've been reading about cm for the s5 for international versions. Do you think this could be a possibility or is the locked bootloader a problem, even with safestrap?
Also to flash any newer rom, would I have to uninstall / remove safestrap? Install a new bootloader? Is that even possible?
Much thanks in advance!
Any extra info you need please feel free to ask me.

Custom ROM for Galaxy S6 AT&T

Hey, this is my first thread so I have no clue what I'm doing
Anyways, does anyone know any good custom ROMs for the Galaxy S6 AT&T version? I found stuff for different carriers, but very few for AT&T and the ones I found, I didn't like.
Also, lets say I rooted my phone and installed a custom ROM (God, I hope I am using the right vocab), that would void my warranty, but what if I "unrooted" it and went back to the original software? Is there a way Samsung would know?
Sorry, if I'm speaking in layman's terms lol I switched from iPhone couple months ago, and I love what I can do with my galaxy but I just want to do more.
Thanks!!
There are no custom roms for the 5.1.1 versions. If you Odin back stock firmware Samsung won't know if you rooted
