Will you if you decide to by a Gear II and different models were available buy,
Camera Speaker Mic Android
Camera Speaker Mic Non Android O/S
Camera Android
Camera Non Android
Speaker Mic Android
Speaker Mic Non Android
Added a poll, maybe people (assuming the upgrade) will not pay for fancy hardware given a choice.
Me given a choice and assuming the device is going to be worth the upgrade will go for a device that has at least the same features as the Gear.
The Camera, Speaker, Mic and I rather and given a choice stay with Android, but I do not throw money away if the Gear II does not provide any tangible improvements I stick with my Gear.
No go if its not android. Doubt they would have the choice of tizen and android. Would be nothing but issues.

Anyone working on Ubuntu touch for the atrix hd
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Honestly i dont think so,
Eyes are aim to Lollipop as priority
I am going to be working on it just for fun. Just started this morning I'll let you know how it goes.

And as far as the lollipop thing, that's why you buy a Nexus. As soon as the next distro is out it updates, you buy Galaxies and LG's and HTC to mess with. And did you guys read the article on CNet about the new Ubuntu phones being two gens behind the current gen instead of us getting the Edge like they showed on the damn kickstarter pace that I lost $700 on and now it's going to be a Korean made glorified Go Phone that is onnnnnly going to be sold in Europe initially? http://www.cnet.com/pictures/first-ubuntu-phones-revealed-pictures/6/ look at that! And only a dual core A7 with a gig of RAM. I feel like Keeping my nexus just as it is, maybe theme it a bit, but I'm going to start working on Ubuntu for some of the higher end devices they send me. So I thought I would start with the Atrix HD because I never use it, and the specs are similar to the phone they are putting out and see what I come up with. Don't get me wrong I'll still work on Android but I think Ubuntu needs our help a little bit more right now.
Does anyone have a solution to the memory management issues on this device? With 3GB of RAM, there is no reason for apps to ever close by themselves under normal use. Yet, for example, I can load a page in Chrome, go to another app and come back 10 seconds later and the page has to reload.

Wait patiently for 5.1
Is this really a lollipop issue? Can't we make memory changes in build.prop?
Hopefully Samsung is aware of this issue. I don't recall having it with the note 4 except for the XDA app which constantly redrew
There's a bad memory leak in Lollipop that hopefully was addressed in 5.1
I did some extensive debloating and the issue still persists. At least now we know that Samsung is aware of it.
Something tells me that this is an issue inherent to Touchwiz ( I don't learn my lesson and keep buying Samsung phones every now and then).
Samsung you have until the next update to fix this, otherwise I'm done with your devices!
The S6 is perfect otherwise, but this is a major, major, and I repeat, major deal-breaking problem

It's not a Samsung issue. It's lollipop. Other devices have had this issue before the S6 release date. I have no issues. I have everything from my Note 4 on my 64gb S6 with 38gb left. I'm using about 78% ram most of the time.
Mine is always between 83-87 %. My nexus 6 didn't have this redrwaw issues in any of the 5.x iterations
It's a straight up memory leak in lollipop, not a Sammy issue.
It's a Sammy thing as a 2gb ram HTC one m7 with 5.0.2 has zero problems
The infamous 5.x lollipop memory leak manifests itself in different ways.
This is terrible ram management where the system takes up an excessive amount of memory thus having issues keeping ram intensive apps in memory (such as Facebook, twitter, chrome,)
It's definitely a Samsung issue

It's a android problem that is noticed more on touch wiz because its such a ram beast. Vanilla android has the problem as well. It is supposedly fixed on 5.1.1.
I think Samsung with TW caused the issue to go into overdrive!
Didn't have this much of an issue with the GPE M8!
Sansung Admits Memory Leak
Samsung announced today on its UK Facebook page that they are rolling out a micro update to fix the issue according to article in Flipboard
It is true that the issue may be compounded by Touchwiz. As far as micro updates to fix the problem IDK, it has to go through Samsung AND the carrier and that takes forever
So i just look at my RAM manager and it says i have 2.5GB yup i guess i fall into that....
Let me make something clear: it's not about how much free ram the phone has at any given time. My nexus 5 or 6 didn't usually have more than 600 MB available , but apps didn't redraw until you multitasked through 10-12 apps.
This phone redraws apps like Facebook, twitter, browser even if you're only multitasking through 3 or 4 ( and don't even get me started on the XDA app)

I'm sorry, but y'all are wrong. It's an android issue, not one vendor. An issue they even owned up to. I agree a skin makes it worse than stock, but don't hare point the finger at Samsung for poor coding by Google.
This is coming from an adamant google fanboy who often criticizes Sammy. I rock an S6 and N6, so I have experience with both. 5.0.2 is very bad in regards to the memory leak. 5.1 cleaned a lot of crap up, but it was still there. 5.1.1 is supposedly the holy grail, and with my short time with it today it seemed tight and snappy.
5.1.1 or even 5.1 for that matter will make this phone operate a lot better than it is now. I've run ever possible version of "L" and every version of lollipop. We're on a shi!!y build.
TL;DR don't blame Samsung for Google's memory leak.
I really hope you're right Silky because otherwise this phone is a beautiful beast.

OT . How did Google let this happen when the L preview was in testing for almost 6 months on the Nexus 5 ??

That's a damn good question. Lol. The fact that this leak made it out of testing, what..... 5 times now? Worrisome.
Hey Everyone! I was wondering if anyone else has this same feeling when it comes to their ROM/Phone choice. First off, i love stock android, i think its really fast and smooth and very stable. I also really like OEM's versions of android, however, no matter what found i end up buying, i usually end up rooting it within six months and flashing stock Android on it. But i'm always stuck because as much as i love stock Android, they have yet to come close to having really good Camera software. This is where OEM's come into play. The S6 easily has the best camera on the market right now. But that is mostly due to their copyrighted camera software. What do you think the chances are that we will ever see a custom ROM that is Stock Android with the OEM's camera software in there? My dream phone right now would be my S6 rooted with Stock Android with Samsungs camera.
What are your thoughts?
1% and I'm being generous
---------- Post added at 02:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:33 AM ----------
Not only is the camera software proprietary, but it's also dependent on Touchwiz framework, apps and libraries. Attempts have been made in the past but it's too time consuming and it ends up in incomplete, buggy camera.
Yeah, i had a feeling that was a big problem, and I'm not holding my breath too much either.

I know there's Google now launcher, but are there themes that can change the notification bar and settings that can make it look like stock Android?
There's a Stock Android theme coming to the Theme Store within the next couple of weeks. The guy posted on Google + and he has already submitted all the work to Samsung.
Then you can add:
Google keyboard
Calendar
Google messenger
Notes
Google orNova launcher
Moonshine icon pack
Samsung might be testing Pie on some of its devices!
https://bgr.com/2018/08/29/galaxy-s10-release-date-soon-android-updates-faster-leak-says/
This would make the Note9 even more amazing if it got Android 9 this year...
I have it on my Pixel, it's absolutely amazing!
Not holding my breath...
I won't hold my breath. Samsung might muck it up bad.
Won't be early...just waiting as usual
I have it on my Pixel 2XL & while it's nice to have it & be as up to date as possible, it really is nothing special.
Let Samsung get it right & it'll come when it comes. Note 9 on Oreo is amazing as it is & it all works.
Well, I'm not hoping anything to be honest... Hahaha
Oreo one is already THAT good for me, and for my usage, is already pretty good..
The only thing I wanted is surprise for a Linux Dex getting implemented.. But, since Android is more and more complex, fingers crossed...
samsung are crafty really as they only give two version updates so our note 9 will drop off on android R instead of S which sucks seeing as android pie was out before the note 9 came out.

This has been the cycle for every single Note. It's not new. Don't they support two YEARS of updates? Not two updates?
last i heard is P will be out on the Note 9 before the end of the year, this is a very big test for project treble and im sure google is putting a little pressure on samsung and other oems to get this os update out in a timely manner.

Yeah but you still have stock android. Which lacks too many features i've come to enjoy on Samsung Experience. A lot of the features on P, Samsung had for years. I tried stock android, had me running back to Samsung. No thank you.
It would be great if N9 can dual boot: Samsung Experience + AOSP/PE Rom
