Hi Xperts,
I'm trying to help a friend with his Xperia SP. He's on 266 and wants to install Xposed Framework, so the device needs root. I have quite some experience with Android (not with Xperias though) but this task is bringing me to my limits. Could some kind soul point me into the right direction?
We do not want to unlock bootloader, we don't want to install a custom rom or even CWM/TWRP, we just need root on 266.
So far the only working path seems to go back to a reinstall of the older 251 FW (4.1.2), root it with some windows tool, flash supersu and then install 266 again plus supersu update.
Is this really true? Is there no easier way to directly get root on 266?
Thanks.

At present this is the only way to get root - 30 minutes work is not that bad.

wait for couple of days for DoomLord or NUT to release 4.3 rooting method without any headache
Waiting for the Doomlord to find the exploit for the root. Will be rooting his method
using doomlord's existing exploit
I am noob and just got an XSP.
[Previously on nokia symbian (yes, living in a cave ) which was rooted]
I tried doomlord's previous patch (downgrading to rootable 4.1.2 and flashing to 4.3 - kernel) as detailed here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405933
After getting flash tool to work with all drivers installed, my xsp went into a bootloop at startup.
Flashed back 4.3 and it boots proper...
Really looking forward to doomlord's new exploit
At some point in the endless how-tos I had the impression that you won't end on the same partition layout if you go this "back, root, upgrade again" way. I really think best is to wait for a real exploit.
Thanks everybody for the feedback.

First thing first, I'm a total newbie and English is not my native language. I'll try to explain my question as simple as possible.
A month ago, I bought an Xperia Z (C6603) and it had Android 4.2.2 (10.3.1.A.2.67) installed. I decided to root it by using:
DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit
XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.1.A.2.67.ftf
XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.A.0.423_Generic_NL.ftf
These are the only 3 things that I use to root my device. I finally managed to root my device after lots of trial and error. So I don't know if I have CWM or unlocked Bootloader stuff after the root simply because I'm not an expert but one thing for sure, I've successfully root my device.
Recently, I noticed that there is Android 4.3 (10.4.B.0.569) update available for Xperia Z. Therefore, I really want to update my device from ROOTED Android 4.2.2 (10.3.1.A.2.67) to ROOTED Android 4.3 (10.4.B.0.569) but how?
I know that we have a lot of tutorials available on the forums and we got Google too but they are very confusing. So I hope someone could help me via this thread and I'll really appreciate it. Thanks!

I'd like to know this myself.
I have a feeling a flash to an earlier version is needed. I've tried several outdated roots with no joy.
OP you will probably get ignored or told to read a 100 page thread.
Use Easy root for xperia
google it
I know, right! Well, don't download the EasyRoot because afterwards it asks for a key and the website to get it from doesn't even function (unstableapps.com).
i think we may just have to go back to iPhone, or wait for a truly customizable new platform, where you can change battery icons and fully control your device. there doesn't seem a way to utilize our phones any longer.

New Root. I didn't have any issues. Installed a recovery too
Newroot newroot newroot!
Guys just go to this thread and download this tool by munjeni. Easiest root unroot you can find. No need to go back to an older firmware n all. Just hit root/unroot and you are all set. Make sure you install proper phone drivers though. PC companion should show that c6902 connected. I had a slight issue while rooting since the phone was not getting detected. Simply reinstall PC companion and you are good to go.

Hello i have upgraded my Z3C D5803 from 5.0.2 Slim Rom (twrp and rooted & bootlader unlocked) to 5.1.1 Stock Firmware 23.4.A.0.546 using XPERIFIRM to download and Flashtool to package and flash to the phone.
I have been looking for days but i am unable to find a way to root the stock firmware without having to reflash a custom firmware. I use the ScreenMirroring and Dualshock Support on a daily basis and this is usually taken out of custom roms as Bloatware.
Everything i have tried so far has not worked. Currently it is completely stock, no custom loader, no root (however I do not know if flashing stock rom via Flashtool will relock the bootloader?) Edit: Although from what i have read and understood it is not possible to relock the bootloader (that easily)
I have had many android phones/tablets and rooted/unlocked the majority of them, i just cannot work this one out =[
Thanks for any help
Did u already tried to downgrade , get root and reflashed an prerooted Firmware from here?

I am exactly in the same position. All I want is my COMPLETELY stock 5.1.1 to have root access, and possibly custom recovery. I don't want it pre-debloated (will remove the apps I want remove with Titanium) I don't want Xposed or anything added to it.I don't want to have to flash-downgrade ROM or worse, install a custom ROM, then reupgrade, and all the palaver.
Just like you I have rooted and CWM'd successfully many phones like Xperia X10, Xperia Mini, Galaxy S1, Galaxy S2 and Fairphone and I have always managed to do it in a fairly straightforward way. Just like you I cannot work this one out. I have spent the best part of my free time in the last week searching the web and this website, to no avail. No one and nowhere is offering a simple way to root & CWM the Z3C on stock 5.1.1. It seems even less likely on a D5833 and even less so on a locked bootloader!
Feeling like giving up on this phone.... :crying:

Problem is, atm u cannot root directly 5.1.1. U have to downgrade.
I have lost function of the camera button by going through all that flash-downgrading, custom recovery, reupgrading etc... I don't want to do that and screw up my phone any further, so I'll wait for a safer and more straightforward process to come up...
hey guys
im very noob for mobile programming, so can u guys just give me a blunt yet gentle response, how to root an untouched Xperia Z C6603 5.1.1? (in very detail, pretty please?)
i just upgraded to 10.7.a.0.222 yesterday, my mind had been juggling off since i bought this phone 2 years ago, whether to root or not this....
with all the kinds of unfamiliar term used for rooting process (ROM, bootloader, flash, etc), i've come to realization, ROOTING is not for beginners, especially if they first time want to root their devices...
so could u all masters help to enlighten my poor, poor knowledge in rooting process?
pretty please?:fingers-crossed:
It's simple but time consuming
Hello!
If you have a LOCKED Bootloader.
First of all, you need to go back to Android v. 5.0.2
1. So, make the downgrade using Sony FlashTool, for example. Don't forget to backup all your data.
2. Root v. 5.0.2 with KingRoot (just install the attached apk)
3. Install and execute com.supersume.apk (attached) to replace the KingRoot with SuperSU
4. Install a recovery using EasyRootTool v12.4 (attached)
5. Copy any PRE-ROOTED v. 5.1.1 ROM to your SD Card and flash the ZIP from the recovery.
Alternatively - keep everything as it is and wait till they implement a new version of the KingRoot. The one from 5 Sep. 2015 doesn't support v. 5.1.1 yet.
Hope it helps. All detailed instructions how to flash ROMs (using the FlashTool and the recovery) can be found on the XDA Developers Website.

This is how you create and flash a rom(flash a 10.5.1.A.0.283 or 10.5.1.A.0.292).

This is how you root!

Hello,
I'm buying much devices, test it and sell it.
But I like the zuk z1 very much (SOT is awesome)
So I search for a possibility to root the device,
Without going to the pc (adb method or smth) or just lazy like me.
Setup:
New z1 / 3AJ Firmware
Download kingroot Click me
Guide:
Download kingroot and open it,
Follow the instructions. U should be rooted.
Proof in the attachment, I hope it works for u all.
Bugs:
Some apps doesn't work. Better battery stats is one who don't work.
Edit:
BBS worked! , need two reboots to get it to work.
Maybe more, report if u try this method.
Just wait for CyanogenMod, no MS-Apps, no Bing, no 1 million Google Apps, Root just one click...
Hm.
U can freeze or de-install all that ****ty apps. ^^
Won't rooting stop the software updates which it clearly needs? That's what's stopping me atm
You can also get Supersume at the plays store to get rid of KingRoot, and put in CF Supersu.

I recall seeing that link a while back, but I could not find it, but I heard about Supersume, so I went that route instead.
I have ordered my Zuk Z1 on Thursday. I hope it will arrive until Tuesday. So I'm orientating already about how to root and so on. I don't see why you should root with Kingroot as you don't get updates from Cyanogen anymore when you have rooted the phone. It's a lot easier to unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and than flash SuperSu in my opinion, isn't it? Or do I miss something?
As far as I know, the problem is not Kingroot, but rather that in process of rooting the system partition is changed to read and write (r/w). Now every time the ota update script is running, they check if the that is the case and if so won't install the ota.
Just btw. I read in an other post here, that SuperSU replaces some files and that even if you should unroot, they still change them back, which also prohibits the OTA update script from running.
Which ever way you root and whatever recovery you have installed, you can still sideload the the updates, without loosing any of your data.
Download the "...ham-signed.zip" from this link
Here is the link to the post about the OTA files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/development/official-ota-update-links-ota-updating-t3226990
And give Breadcrust and Radii a thanks next time you see one of their posts
P.S.: I have no clue of any of these things/ I am in no way a developer, it's just what I have found out so far, what it comes down to...
