Hello i have upgraded my Z3C D5803 from 5.0.2 Slim Rom (twrp and rooted & bootlader unlocked) to 5.1.1 Stock Firmware 23.4.A.0.546 using XPERIFIRM to download and Flashtool to package and flash to the phone.
I have been looking for days but i am unable to find a way to root the stock firmware without having to reflash a custom firmware. I use the ScreenMirroring and Dualshock Support on a daily basis and this is usually taken out of custom roms as Bloatware.
Everything i have tried so far has not worked. Currently it is completely stock, no custom loader, no root (however I do not know if flashing stock rom via Flashtool will relock the bootloader?) Edit: Although from what i have read and understood it is not possible to relock the bootloader (that easily)
I have had many android phones/tablets and rooted/unlocked the majority of them, i just cannot work this one out =[
Thanks for any help
Did u already tried to downgrade , get root and reflashed an prerooted Firmware from here?

I am exactly in the same position. All I want is my COMPLETELY stock 5.1.1 to have root access, and possibly custom recovery. I don't want it pre-debloated (will remove the apps I want remove with Titanium) I don't want Xposed or anything added to it.I don't want to have to flash-downgrade ROM or worse, install a custom ROM, then reupgrade, and all the palaver.
Just like you I have rooted and CWM'd successfully many phones like Xperia X10, Xperia Mini, Galaxy S1, Galaxy S2 and Fairphone and I have always managed to do it in a fairly straightforward way. Just like you I cannot work this one out. I have spent the best part of my free time in the last week searching the web and this website, to no avail. No one and nowhere is offering a simple way to root & CWM the Z3C on stock 5.1.1. It seems even less likely on a D5833 and even less so on a locked bootloader!
Feeling like giving up on this phone.... :crying:

Problem is, atm u cannot root directly 5.1.1. U have to downgrade.
I have lost function of the camera button by going through all that flash-downgrading, custom recovery, reupgrading etc... I don't want to do that and screw up my phone any further, so I'll wait for a safer and more straightforward process to come up...

Heyo,
I got a few Quastions concerning the root und revertingprocess and all that stuff since I´m considering buying this tablet or the note 10.1 (2014).
1. Can I make the Update to android 4.3 and root the device? (As far as i read i only saw methods for 4.2.2)
2. If something happens or i just want to go back to "normal" unrooted, can i somehow flash the stock firmware?
3. Can i do this especially if I softbricked my Device? (For Samsung Devices you can just go into download mode and flash the stock FW via ODIN)
4. Do you think this Device will get a solid base of modders? I mean its not been here for long but well... not even CWM.
Thanks in advance!

1. Others did it, but I would wait till there is a custom rom available. Updating to 4.3. is always advisable.
2. You always can flash stock firmware.
3. When you are unlocked it is very well possible to brick your device, even beyond the point that it is possible to restore it. In locked state it is near impossible to brick and you can always recover a soft brick.
4. All is depending how the sales of this tablet will develop. Sbdags is on it and developing a custom rom already. He will release it when a custom recovery is stable enough to use under 4.3.
Hi ! I was searching on Z2 forums and seems like they have managed to Root Z2 with kingroot method on locked bootloader. Its not working on Z1 currently but with some modifications it just might. Its almost the same rom still. I have no experience but someone might just get this working on Z1 too ! Just wanted to let you guys know ! Good luck o/
Here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/root-t3108230
Yes, I asked the question and it seems to be feasible. I'd like to test it but I don't want to mess anything yet because I don't have any backup at the time...
used Kingroot procedure on my Z1 around 5 days ago.......worked fine, came from stock LB 5.01 and now rooted, Superuser, Titanium, and xposed modules all working fine. No bootloops, no strange restarts. Couldn't be happier.
Could you describe precisely what you did? I'm really interested in that! (if that works with Locked Bootloader, everything stock and Lollipop that's a wonderful thing!)
Info: Kingroot will read your IMEI and for unknown reason IMEI will be sent to China server.

I would be interested too
Maybe someone to reverse engineer the kingroot method and make it to some easy one click root, without sending any IMEIs ? that would be awesome !

Bit of research here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3106459
Over a week now, no problems. No mystery reboots or freezing. Was able to install superuser, uninstall kingroot, even trying the experimental xposed, titanium and the dual recovery all working as expected.
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
We've had root on LB since the 4.2 days. I rooted my phone back then, and kept it ever since. Unlocked the BL for some time, locked again, no loss.
If you're not comfortable with some Chinese closed source app running on your phone and applying some undisclosed root method that they claim is used by "other Chinese apps that need to get root", just downgrade , root, and flash back LP. It's much safer IMHO.
Safer yeah but the amount of work on that method that needs to be done is huge. Atleast compared to kingroot method that takes a minute, another for installing superSU...
So I've just about had it with the leaky 5.0.2 lollipop firmware we got stuck with. Bootloader is hopelessly locked for no good reason meaning only Sony signed firmwares/kernels are flashable. A kind gentleman in one of the other subforums gave me instructions to install nuts recovery and that worked (I had rooted previously using kingroot).
He also packages up a flahable zip from a preroted c6903 5.1.1 official firmware (minus the modem files so my american tmo modem stayed in tact. I was trying to do a clean flash). Theoretically this should work right? Nope. Left my phone soft bricked over several attempts. I ended up getting the 4.4.4 ftf and flashing that back and honestly I'm happy with it.
But then I find out that my new vehicle in getting, which will support Android auto in a march update, requires lollipop or better. Son of biscuit eating bulldog!! I dont want to go back to the broken 5.0.2 firmware Sony and Tmo left us with. It was terrible.
Surely there has to be a way to trick the system into thinking we are flashing a stock 5.1.1 firmware to circumvent the locked bootloader right??? I was flashing customized ROMs back when my little brother had a Motorola Defy with a locked bootloader that all we needed to do was install recovery and "restore" a backup of said customized ROM and voila.
Any ideas?
another thought popped into my head. As far as I was aware, Xposed didnt work on our devices (well, the Z1s c6916 specifically). Can anyone confirm whether xposed works on the Z1s or not on 5.0.2? There is a module for xposed that claims to fix the memory leak issue so that could be another work around but im from preliminary reading its supposedly already included in stock sony firmware. Sure doesn't seem like it.
i just wish the bootloader could be unlocked (without consequences like causing focusing issues with the camera), and that existing Z1 roms could be reconfigured for the Z1s c6916...it would make things so much easier.
This is not a forum to ask questions !
Ask in Xperia Z1 forum because Z1s belongs there.
“Sent From MWE V8.0.0 On My Z3”
First of all, I have been using custom kernels and later rooting since Pocket PC 2002/Merlin, and I now have bought my first Sony (after just about every other brand of Android phone, no particular reason why I never had a Sony since the SE T68) because it's the only phone I can use with salt water spray on the screen and wet fingers. I do a lot of lobster, crayfish and crab fishing with traps and use an app called Fishing Poins to keep track of my pots and what I get where. Coming from Samsung (S5 was the latest I had) the rooting of a Sony seems rather cumbersome, but I have a few apps that need root access. LIke Air Audio to play music through an Airplay system. DLNA is useless to me, I want to stream the audio that I'm using on the phone directly to the whole house systen.
So can somebody please tell me what I do to get root access on Nougat (which my phone upgraded to before I saw that's what was happening, and no, I'm not big on reading long explanation screens, if it's a new phone and an official upgrade I am used to just doing it before I root on Samsung phones, since I have to unroot to install them later) and nothing else? For now I don't want to use any custom kernels or recovery, if I can avoid it. Just stock, rooted, like I could on my S5 (and Note 2, S4 Active and so on), please!
I did attempt the KingRoot app, but it didn't work. Also I have read a bit about that app that doesn't seem to good (Chinese spy fator app), so I did a full reset after the failed attempt. But if there's something similar that would be the perfect way of doing this. Of course I'm no stranger to ADB, so hooking it up to my pc is not a problem either.
1. Downgrade to any version of stock Marshmallow firmware with Xperifirm and Flashtool. Wipe everything and Exclude nothing (but *.ta - if any). Do not use FSC script! << FSC is now mandatory!
2. Backup your device's TA partition with Universal TA Backup tool.
3. Flash Nougat firmware (again with Xperifirm and Flashtool). Wipe everything and Exclude nothing (but *.ta - if any).
4. Unlock your device's bootloader
5. Follow this instructions to create/flash a custom kernel with root, and also DK.ftf (to fully reactivate sony's drm keys, which is wiped when bootloader is unlocked).
Anyway, try it at your own risk!
Thanks! So that's the method, which of course means deleting everything I've set up on the phone. Is there a chance there may be an easier, less destructive way during the next month or so? I can do without root access for that long.
oh, btw, by "custom kernel" do you mean that it will not be the original setup for the phone? I've been betatesting kernels on many devices, but nowadays I only want a phone that works without any hitches, and I want access to the official updates. That was easy on the Samsung phones, but maybe Sony is more different than I thought?
Oh, btw, maybe it is explained in the long post you directed me to, but I recently had an eye operation, and I would appreciate a shorter answer, before I get to the "how to", which takes me a while to read right now...
NEVER MIND THIS MESSAGE! Now I understand what Xperfirm is...
Also where would be a safe place to download ROMs from? Both the downgrade ROM and the Nougat ROM? I now really wish I hadn't let the thing upgrade before I took the TB backup (I'm still a bit unsure as to why I need that, I don't use any media with any form for DRM, but I guess better safe than sorry).

As far as I know there's no danger to download through Xperifirm, you need TA for guarantee reasons (if your phone need repair, not everywhere but for safety)
THanks, yeah. I have managed to read a bit and found out that Xperifirm downloads from the official Sony servers. Pain in the ass downloading, it breaks the download every couple of minutes. But that's probably Sony's servers, not the program. As for warranty, that's no problem in Norway since we have very strong consumer rights here. If an error can not be prooven to stem from rooting or other software stuff, it will be fixed. If I remember correctly Apple tried really hard to battle with the consumer rights officials about jailbreaking, but they had a very bloody defeat.
Seems like I have a problem. The Telenor Nougat ROM doesn't have a loader, according to Flashtool. Neither do the two other ROMs I have downloaded so far, but I'm trying again with a third, which doesn't have the "customised" moniker. So I hope that has a loader. But how do I upgrade again to Nougat, with the Norwegian version, when the Telenor ROM doesn't have a loader?

if your phone is locked(Bootloader),fix it using Xperia Companion..that way it upgrades automatically to Nougat.
if not, lock it using Flashtool first.
Well, the message was kind of badly worded, because I need to downgrade first of all. So I'm at the moment trying to get it to MM without messing up the TA partition. So anyway, this thread has been followed by others, I think this can be considered solved since there is only one way to get root on these phones.
What would be the best approach to rooting if you unlock your bootloader before learning about TA backup? I have since downgraded, done TA backup, upgraded, flashed TWRP, flashed SU/Magisk/phhSu, and saw two green checks in Magisk. Tried to continue to get the three checks by installing Sony framework v1 through Magisk and then Andros plus kernel, but got stuck on Sony screen on boot up. So I repeated steps and stopped after I got two checks, however after long use and simple phone restart, I lost root. Please HELP!
As you all know when friends know you like to tinker with phones they come to you always...
My friend wants me to root her c6930, only because of low internal memory and wants to integrate SD with internal so looking for 6.0 and newer Roms
Personally i think she should just go with a simple root and run apps to SD but someone else opened Thier mouth on this and now this is what she wants
So I dug through the threads a bit and find that it seems she will be suffering with camera problems if we go this route
Can anyone confirm this? Can I just root and then use apps2sd and all will stay the same otherwise for her (yes i realize phone will be wiped but everything is backed up)
Or are there some 6.x and newer Roms that will be fitting, again mostly just concerned with SD integration and not loosing features/quality, doesn't care much else
ROM recommendations?
Again, sorry for asking such simple stuff but I have done what research i have time for and she is going back out of state soon so wants a quick fix... Yeah for me
Thanks in advance!
None of the 6.0+ ROMs have a decent camera. I'd recommend sticking to stock LP or flashing a custom LP based ROM like Jaguar (which is better than stock in my opinion, but lacks the sony camera apps).
You don't have to wipe data to root. You can use KingRoot or one of those rooting methods that exploit the DirtyCow vulnerability, in case you want to retain warranty or refrain from unlocking the bootloader. Seems like rooted stock or custom LP is the way to go.

Thanks for the info!
I ran out of time and gave her the info and choice as i knew then, we went with unlocking bootloader and flashing 7.1.1 which had security patches up to march 5
Camera is pretty crap now but all other aspects are an improvement and she's happy...
If the camera issues eventually bug her too much I'll have her switch to jaguar and use dirty cow
Thanks again!

So she is having issues with the nougat ROM we went with, I told her about your suggestion with jaguar and she just wants stock rom...
So we are going with stock rooted so at least she can use apps2sd and be happy (hopefully... And I really wish I wasn't volunteered to do this for her)
But... I'm having trouble finding the direct download of the 14.6.A.1.236 firmware/ROM direct from Sony, the few places i found links seem slightly fishy
Any chance you (or anyone else for that matter) have a good link to a FTF or .Zip either prerooted or pure stock? I'll keep digging a bit myself but links are mostly dead on XDA and the few other places I trust
Oh and this is for the c6903
Thanks!
