[Q] Can't access ClockWorkMod - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
There will be a tl;dr at the bottom. The problem however should not be that big of a deal.
I tried flashing the latest build of DevCon's CM 11.0 yesterday. I followed the instructions in the thread and also installed K-Kernel (i chose v1.5 with 348 MB).
So after i was done my phone booted as usual after this procedure. Fancy Start-up Screen, Launcher works, everything fine so far. However I can not access CWM. The "restart phone"-section when pressing the power-button won't give me an option to chose "boot into recovery" and also the key-combo (vol+ - home - power) when the phone is turned off will just bring up a screen saying "RAMDUMP MODE cause: Force Upload".
The thing is: I wouldn't even mind, if I couldn't also get into kernel-settings to set the governor and i/o. They just won't appear in the settings.
So the noob I am just thinks: Ok, maybe something on the phone doesn't grant me the permissions for doing these things. So then I downloaded CWM-Rom Manager from the Appstore and tried to fix permissions -> Still won't work.
Please help me. I really think this problem isn't much of a big deal but I just can't solve it by myself.
tl;dr:
- flashed CM 11.0 with KK
- phone boots, but access to CWM is not possible; also specific options like setting governor or i/o-scheduler just don't appear in the options
- tried fixing permissions with CWM-Rom Manager -> no change

yep, its a simple issue
if you press
Volume Up + Power. you will get recovery mode
Volume Down + Home + Power. you will get Download mode
Volume Up + Home + Power you will get RAM DUMP mode
so learning more about the i9001 is done by using this
as for developers option, try taping about phone in settings 7 Times, to open up its hidden menu.

OMG. I am stupid. Thank you, man! I just got into CWM and will re-try everything.
The Settings-part however did not work. Maybe it does when I have everything set up.
//edit: Developer-Settings do work as well now. Thank you again!

[Q] Vol Up+ Home +Power Button gives FORCED UPLOAD not RECOVERY

Hi have searched on here a lot , and find that the above key combination should give me RECOVERY mode, not FORCED UPLOAD. I have seen post saying that on some models the 3 button combo doesn't work, but no one saying that they are getting FORCED UPLOAD on Vol up ++ . I'm on JM1. Can anyone suggest how I get into recovery mode? I have tried releasing POWER 1st, Home 1st and other combinations but no luck. I want to start playing with roms , but believe I could be in trouble without recovery mode without the ability to clear cache etc etc. Also saw someone says I need this menu should a flash go wrong. Any one got any ideas? Will I be stuck without it?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Made a big mistake! :(

Hey guys.. Ummm.. I had a completely, perfectly, fine rooted Galaxy S. [I don't know if it's still rooted or not]
I'd installed Darky's ROM [5.6], and was gonna put in 6.0.
I decided to do a completely clean install for some reason [I don't know, I'm stupid.] and there's where I made the mistake. The phone got flashed n all through Odin, but now my 3 button combo doesn't work.
I searched for a fix, and it requires adb if I'm not wrong. Problem is, adb itself requires busybox and superuser. I don't have superuser in the phone [I suppose I can find it in the market, haven't checked.] but I was installing busybox, and it said that my phone's rooted but something's wrong [something about a nand or something] and that busybox can't be installed.
I want that ROM and I want my 3 button combo working again
Can someone please help?

Which ROM do you have now? If its Darkyy's, its pre-rooted, & has busybox.
Umm.. I don't think I know.
I just flashed the thing with this.. 'h t t p : // w w w. multiupload . com / XWDSKCPGTD' and the JM1 CSC file..
But it's certainly not Darky's..
Though I DID put in the 6.0 .zip file in the internal memory. Haven't installed it though [more like CAN'T install it ..]

Download Tuxility from the market. It has a Thread here in Dev too. You get options of normal shut down, reboot into recovery & into download.
Hope this helps.
I tried that
It doesn't start Force closes
Have you tried Quick Boot from the market?
Yep. I installed it, opened it, pressed Recovery.
Nothing happened
[in the description of the app, it said that root access is needed for it to work, and since the buttons weren't working, I think the phone's not rooted anymore]
I even pressed Download. Nothing happened there either
2.1 ROMs have a different way of entering into recovery & download. You press Vol up + menu + Pwr keys, & you get the splash screen, release the Pwr button for half a second & again keep it pressed till you go into recovery.
Otherwise, there is manual way of installing the superuser & busybox, you need to search the forum.
Umm.. It says it's 2.2
Still think I should try what you said?

For 2.2 you keep holding all the three buttons till the flash screen blanks & comes on, on the second blank screen, release the pwr button. If that doesn't work, try to do it at the third blank.
I pressed the menu and volume button simultaneously while the animation was going on, and I got this screen saying 'FORCED UPLOAD by KEY PRESSING' and a bunch of values on top [in red].
Apart from that, nothing

Done. Didn't work.
Oh oh.. One more thing. The power button does NOT turn the phone off! It just restarts it! [so I have to pull the battery out if I wanna turn the phone off]

Up or down volume button? I always press the combination of buttons before the phone starts and wait till I see the download/recovery screen.
Power + up + home => Recovery.
Power + down + home => download.
By the way, this thread is in the wrong forum.
EDIT: Check out the info and the links from this thread:

Good luck!
If you want to reflash a clean install but having problems getting to recovery or download, try the homemade jig. I used it when I thought my phone was dead and it worked fine.
Basically, once you have the jig, power off the phone (battery pull in ur case) and insert the jig in the socket. After 2-3 secs it should boot to download. Then you are free to flash with odin. At this stage I recommend repartition etc to ensure a fully clean install.
Enjoy

Try this workaround, it worked for me:
First, root it with z4root, just download it from the market. Then install Clockworkmod from market. From that program flash clockworkmod recovery. Now you can enter recovery from menu in Rom Manager. Once in recovery, there's an option somewhere to go into download mode - and you can flash whatever you want from there
reflash your phone by odin.

[Q] Requesting a little assistance!

Okay, so first of all, thanks to all who take the time to actually look at this thread.
The Problem
Okay, so, my little brother has the Galaxy Mini, he set a lock on it (you know the one where you drag your finger to the points on the screen? the 3 x 3 block of circles?) Well, anyway, he forgot his password and has now had his phone "system locked". Anyway, there is an option to sign into his google account on screen though and that would solve the problem, but guess what? Yep, you got it! The little cretin has forgotten his email and password. I tried mine but that didn't work, so I guess it has to be his own.
My question is this: What if anything, can I do to solve this problem?
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

RAM DUMP & Download Mode is else, you don't need them now (yet). Try to boot to recovery (vol up+power) and try to wipe cache & dalvik cache, and then try to boot the phone

you tried ramdump mode and download mode, to get in recovery you have to use volume up + power, without home button. try to get in recovery and factory reset
EDIT: you have to keep pressed the combo i said for a couple of second after the samsung logo apper, then you will se an android out of a box, it is time to touch menu key once, you will see screen change brightness, if so you are getting in recovery mode
Hi,
I had this problem a few weeks ago, and the only thing that helped was flashing stock rom with odin. After that everything works fine.

Custom binary blocked by FRP. SECURE FAIL: RECOVERY

Hi All, I have a SM-T713 which was rooted, TWRP 3.0.2-1 installed and Lightning ROM 6.0.1 installed. Today I went to Settings | Developer Options and turned off the OEM unlock something. Then I went to the Terminal Emulator and run su, then reboot recovery. Now my tablet is stuck with "Custom binary blocked by FRP. SECURE FAIL: RECOVERY". I tried Home + Volume Down + Volume Up + Power, the tablet is restarted and then that message appears again. If I do Home + Volume Down + Home, a blue screen appears "If you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel". Pressing volume up show a Downloading... screen. Then I don't know what to do next.
Please help if you know how to fix it. If the instructions are for Linux (because I'm using Linux), it's the best. Windows instructions are ok too.
Thanks.

Hey i did the exact same thing, did you fixed it, if so how?
solved it
if you haven't solved it just download smart switch go to emergency recovery or something like that put your device model in my case (sm-t813)
and put your serial and you are pretty much done hope you the best
Never switch "OEM unlock" back to OFF
