Fast-charging/USB-charging with micro-USB

Does somebody know yet if this device needs pin4 and pin5 connected (ground) for fast-charging on micro-usb?
On my kaiser I needed to connect these two to be able to charge in my car with my standard USB-charger.
To keep this charger as a universal charger (hope its 2 Amperes won't fry my HD2), I need to buy new cables or a mini-usb to micro-usb adapter and might need to modify them.
I noticed that the battery on my kaiser was getting fairly hot on this 2amps. Is there a protecting circuit, or is this in a safe range for those batteries?
amperes of you charger are max current, wchich you cat have from the charger... it is all about, how much leo will take it is about voltage...
and sorry, no idea about this connectivity... if you will tell me, how to check this, i will check it for you...
So, if I understood correctly, the device determines how much Amps to be drawn?
If you take the wall-charger and you look onto the micro-usb plug:
Code:
_____________
\ , , , , , /
\_________/
PIN: 5 4 3 2 1
For a Kaiser device to fastcharge , pin 5 and 4 must be connected together.
On normal USB-cables (micro and mini) for data, pin4 has no function, it isn't even wired in the cable.
Do you have a volt-meter to check this?
Thanks!
USB A male to micro USB A male cable versus USB B cable?
Hello guys,
I bought my HD2 yesterday ! I am very happy with it.
I would like to buy 2 more cables on ebay (1 for the office, 1 for home).
Should I buy the
- USB A male to micro USB A male cable
OR
- USB A male to micro USB B male cable
I am a bit confused here.
I see 2 types of cables on ebay, not sure which one to buy!
Any ideas?
Thanks
If my assumptions are correct, and the cables work like on the Kaiser device, it's:
- USB A male to micro USB A male cable (for fast-charging, works with generic-usb car charger - NO data connection)
edit: WRONG, because micro-A-plug is not compatible with micro-B-socket.
- USB A male to micro USB B male cable (for data-connection and slow USB-charging)
Still needs confirmation by an HD2-user, but I don't think HTC changed something going from mini to micro-plug. (I think they dropped EXT-usb design for having an extra 3,5mm headset-jack instead. - but that shouldn't confuse you)
Well, not exactly:
Type A is to be plugged into host-device (the one supplying power to the other device, usually the charger or your computer), whereas type B is to be plugged into the target device (in this case, the HD2).
This typology exists to prevent you from linking two power suppliers at both ends of the cable...
So what you need is a "USB Type A to Micro USB Type B" cable
That's the original USB-specs, you are referring to.
Mini/micro-A-plugs are using pin4-to-ground by these USB-spec, for electronically differenciating these.
What I wanted to pinpoint, is that HTC decided to mark pin4-to-ground for detection of their charging equipment.
And since micro-A plugs fit into micro-B sockets, you should be able to use a "USB A male to micro USB A male cable" for your charging needs (without modifying your micro-B cable, which can be quite tricky because of its size)
edit: I was wrong with that, it's the other way round, sry. Does the HD2 have a AB-socket then? I believe it's a regular B-socket.
Then if I stand correctly, you will still need a special modified micro-B-cable for charging.
To make it even more difficult, HTC-design does not charge the Kaiser with a regular mini-b-cable on a car-charger, because there was no data-signal on it.
My intention of this thread was asking, if this behavior has changed when going from mini to micro-usb design, and is still an unanswered question.

...same for me. may I have a clear and "safe" answer for dummie?
- USB A male to micro USB A male cable
OR

Thanks a lot.
only USB-B-male fit into the device, boy!
Well, I've seen unboxing videos now, and the wall-charger ... is a normal-USB-plug-in device like a car-charger. Seems that my intention of this thread is obsolete.

[Q] USB 3.0 Cable?

I noticed that the USB cable which came with my phone is a regular MicroUSB 2.0 cable. Looking at the phone USB connector, I see there are a couple of more pins on the both left and right side. Also on the specs there is USB3.0 support. Does someone know where to find an USB 3.0 cable for this phone?
Thank you

LG G2 micro USB connector

I am interested if anyone knows the specifics of the micro usb connector used in the LG G2. I am only asking since I mixed up a Motorola Droid usb - micro usb cable last night with the OEM LG cable and thought my 24A update screwed the usb connectivity completely. It was just a cable mixup but it bugs me that the majority of my existing usb cables don't work with the G2. I would understand if the G2 had been shipped with usb 3.0 but it is a 2.0 spec but obviously a slightly different connector spec than older micro usb phones like my older Droids. I like the better connection - more tight and snug feeling with the G2 and OEM cable but I'm not sure what kind of cable to order if I was going to buy more for emergency or travel purposes. Is the new connector usb 3.0 compatible but simply not wired to usb 3.0 transceiever h/w ?

I just picked up a $3.00 USB OTG cable with a fullsized female usb to plug in USB sticks to transfer movies for the guys are work.
OTG is fully supported on the G2, (even shows the plug n pop Graphics of a usb stick inserting.)
Sometimes however it can get a lil finnicky in regards to format however.
I always format my usb sticks on the phone in settings then its good to go.
OK, so the format of the cable is not usb 2.0 micro usb but actually OTG (on the go). I was not aware that OTG had a physical connector change in it's specification, I guess I thought it was simply an enhancement of capabilities of the current micro usb connection. It's wierd how some micro usb cables seem to interoperate OK with OTG and some other don't.
Sorry for the misleading nature of this thread, I simply had a usb cable that went belly up and may have been working intermittently before. I just tested with a plain vanilla .99c usb-micro-usb cable and it work absolutely fine. I imagine the micro usb connectors on these cables can get hosed pretty easily and the G2's female connector seems to be pretty sensitive (some female connectors can be that way

same charging port/cable as S4?

i have a galaxy S4 and have just ordered a G4 (standard micro usb). can i use my old car charger and pc data cable, are they the same as the G4 or do i have to buy new ones?
TIA
EDIT: gsmarena specs say micro USB 2.0 for both, so i'm guessing they're the same
With the exception of the new Type-C Nexus devices and a few odd samsung tablets, most android devices follow the same standards (to my knowledge). I think only the S5 had the USB 3.0 plug -- in which case the cable wouldn't work -- so you should be fine.
You can plug a micro usb 2.0 cable into a micro usb 3.0 device, but you can't plug a micro usb 3.0 cable into a micro usb 2.0 device.
But I want usb type-c to replace everything.

That should be a thing of the past now.
USB 3.0 never caught on and will be replaced with USB type C.
That is a good thing as the USB 3.0 end was a hideously huge waste of time designing.

Yes, the micro USB 3.0 connector is just crap. It breaks easily, and isn't particularly small anyway.
I had the S4 and I use the same charger and cable I used to charge it. That charger/cable is old now, at first it charged at 1900mAh but now it only reaches 900mAh. It is ok for a charge during the night. I had to buy a new USB cable that is charging a little bit faster.
I have a quickcharge 2.0 charger and cable that I use in extreme cases where I need ultra quick charges.

Otg accessory help

I like to use a lot of accessory with my op3, so I need some light on this.
1. Does the male type-c to female usb-a adapter work on those 1tb hardrive with rw functionality?
2. Does using male type-c to micro usb-b adapter pair with micro usb-b otg cable work?
3. Does using male type-c to male type-a cable(the normal type-c cable) connected with usb-a female to usb-a female works like an otg adapter?
4. Does usb hub connected with the above configuration that connect more than 2 peripherals work?
5. Does usb generation(usb 3.1 to 2.0) matters at all?
Sorry I'm asking a lot but I can't really test it out myself with stuff from the Benson safe list as amazon is not an option for me, and my recent purchase of micro usb-b otg pair with type-c adapter fail so some help is appreciated.
You should send an email to the support w/ all your questions actually
Cheers.
