[ROM]Team Haters GUMMY 1.2 - Motorola Droid 3

Earlier I was searching for GUMMY ROM, but found that ALL links were taken down, But when I was looking through my SDcard I found the zip for the ROM!
Pretty nice! This rom would be my favorite, however When I flash it, my home button doesn't do anything, I even used the NavBar, didn't do anything.
Wipe dalvik, cache, factory reset, and system.
CHEERS!
If you need a different ROM, I have a literal SH*TLOAD of roms.
I prefer not to use Gapps, but you certainly can.
Camera is operable, but no camcorder or panorama
***I DID NOT MAKE THIS ROM***

[Q] Cyanogenmod 6 stuck in boot animation need help

Just rooted my phone and decided to flash cyanogen 6. I'm pretty new with this whole process but my droid1 has been cycling through the boot animation for a few hours I've unplugged and plugged back in the battery once and it's still taking forever. Kind off freaking out here any help would b amazing love the phone and love wat u developers have done with it thanks a bunch
Thread moved in Motorola Droid and Milestone General.
Did you wipe data and clear the cache in recovery before flashing the ROM? If not, go into recovery and wipe it all now. Then a reboot, and you should be gold.
awesome thanks i just wasnt sure that was needed for a new rom. that will wipe all my apps right?
Sometimes it is needed sometimes not. Yeah it will wipe all of your apps so be sure you have the API files for anything you didn't download from the market. A saved list of all the apps you have will come in quite handy sometimes. Got mine written in my pharmacology notebook.
Don't just write em down. Get titanium backup. Its a lifesaver. Backs up everything from apps, txt/SMS, emails, settings, bookmarks, calander entries. You name it. So when u wipe you can restore everything in about 90 seconds.
Also should have done a nandroid before flashing cm6. While flashing a new rom, or trying to flash back to stock. Wipe and then try it. But first try this. Download the CM6 version again and check md5sum, add to SD, wipe cache, and dalvik cache in recovery n try it again.
Oh and if your like me. I hate when I forget how my pages looked & what icons were where. I use drocap to take Screenshots so I can put it back how it was before. Good luck and welcome to CM. The best android rom around

[FIXED] CyanogenMod 7 based rom wifi issues

Based on my experience, and posted here in case it helps others ...
If you've installed pandaball's CyanogenMod based ROM or other CM7 RC2 based ROMs and are having wifi issues, it may because you forgot to clear the delvik cache.
I'm a bit of a noob to Android flashing, ROMS, etc, so it took me a while to realize that clearing the Delvik cache is NOT the same as just clearing the cache in the basic CWmod menue. To clear delvik, you have to select the "advanced" menu item in CW, then "clear delvik cache".
I was having issues getting my WIFI to work at all in CM7-based roms, until I followed the following steps:
Wipe/clear data
Clear delvik cache
Install rom from zip
reboot
After that, wifi works great on my p925 (LG thrill) with base p920v21E.
It's easy to blame a ROM for a newbie mistake like this, so here's hoping others will learn from my omission.
P.S. I'm still in "noob" mode on XDA, so I can't post in the DEV section as a reply..
Edit: Restoring wifi settings via Titanium Backup seems to re-trigger the wifi issues. I'd recommend starting most things (accounts, settings, etc.) from scratch when installing CM7 based roms for the first time.
I was completely wrong in my OP. The wifi issues remained, and what's more, I'm learning more and more about my mistakes and misconceptions with CM. See the results of my learning experience with CM if you're interested.

how to propperly flash anything after already S-off

im just curious and also i want to be able to get an answer to this question. so that noobs like me that have a rooted and s-off device dont get things mixed up.
is truly necesary to do a full wipe ( data, delvik cache, etc.) to flash anything from a simple tweek to something more complex like a custom rom, or kernel?
Yes...it is truly necessary. The only exception being if it's an upgrade for a ROM you're already using. I.e. upgrading WhateverRom 1.4 to 1.5. Even then though a full or partial(cache and dalvik) wipe is usually recommended. You WILL have many problems if you flash a completely different ROM over another one without doing a full wipe.
Edit: proper procedure would be 1. Download the ROM you want 2. Place it onto your external sd card 3. Boot to recovery 4. Full wipe 5. Flash the .zip 6. Reboot 7. Enjoy 8. (optional) Report bugs to the developer in the thread dedicated to the ROM including as much information as you can about your setup, how the bug was achieved and so on

Thanks a lot for your answer, now, to further clarify my questions,
when you are just installing a simple mod, I.E a kernel, to a rom that already feel comfortable with, and you do an delvik and cache wipe? sometimes it really does not writes its properties over the previous kernel, let me explain.
i tried flashing holics kernell which is an non-overclock kernel with an very stable and battery friendly governor. over an more aggressive kernel like the overclocked Faux 123 v007. the results were that my device showed that the kernel installed was the holics but the cpu frequencies that were being run by the governor were more like the previous kernel and the phone was still overclocked although it wasnt supposed to anymore!
is this due to no doing a full data wipe? besides delvik and cache.
also if i was to do a full wipe. wouldnt i have to have some kind of apps back up system planned out. in order to make the phone looked just like it was before the kernel was flashed.?
I'm not that knowledgeable on kernels, but your best bet (afaik) would be to let your ROM boot up for the first time and then flash the new kernel. Titanium Backup is one of if not the best backup program (backs up apps as well as their data among other things). System data such as contacts, texts, etc. can be backed up and restored, but only to the same or very similar ROMs. You're gonna have problems if you restore data from say a touchwiz type interface to sense. Google backs up your contacts and apps anyways if you let it so they'll be restored and re-downloaded once you sign in with your google account.

With any rom or addons always read the devs instructions
Wiping data, cache and dalvik cache is a very safe bet, as for kernels the rom will flash it for you during the installation however if you are wanting to flash a custom kernel other than one in a rom. Just flash the rom and then the kernel.

most devs will let you know what you need to do when flashing their item.

That's something I forgot to mention. ALWAYS read the entirety of the original post(s) from the dev. Also read through as much as you can of the thread from there. Nobody appreciates being asked things that were already covered in the thread. Some don't include full instructions, but most will and what they're telling you is what you need to follow.

Here's what I do...
If flashing a whole Rom (even if its just an update) I wipe everything...data, cache and dalvic
If flashing a kernel/apps/tweaks then I just wipe cache and flavorc cache
Those methods have yet to fail me...also, you don't have to let the Rom boot up before flashing a kernel...you can flash a Rom then immediatly flash a kernel (assuming the kernel is compatible with the Rom)

I think gapps are installed in /system so if you wipe system, cache, and dalvik, then reflash the ROM and the inverted gapps, I think that would do it without having to wipe out data.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I might test this out later today if I have time.

i think we are on a different page. im running liquid with the regular white gapps. iv got my rom all set up with themed holo apps (some).
but if i flash the inverted gapps like the directions say, wont i be starting complety over?
or is there a way to flash the inverted gapps to replace the regular gapps without starting all over?
Links are down? Where do I go?

'do a wipe' ? not sure what this means exactly, maybe it is what i need to do?

I have a HTC ONE m7, rooted, I have been running CM11, flashing the nightlies with great success. When CM12 came out, it 'soft bricked' my phone, continuous reboots, failing android functions. was able to reinstall Titanium backup, then restore the phone to a previous point. back running, but not without bugs. after trying this 3 times, I have given up. but I read where people say, "do a wipe" then flash the ROM....... What, specifically does this mean?
yes I have rooted my phone, but I am just knowledgable to be dangerous. if It means back to factory specs, then how do I flash the rom? I think that my phone should run CM12, and maybe I need to wipe? wipe what? dalvic cache? is that a wipe?
Anybody have some ideas or can point me to some postings that may help me. Many Thanks, very tired of operating on the last build of CM11
blairan
Do a wipe typically means wipe the data, system, cache, and dalvik cache partitions. If you are using TWRP as your recovery (I do for this phone), boot into it and then press Wipe, then Advanced Wipe. Select those four (not internal storage or USB OTG) and then Swipe to Wipe. Of course, your phone won't boot at this point, so you'll need a new ROM waiting on internal storage to be flashed.
thankyou Coal, I have been trying to install a CM12 and/or a CM12.1 ROM I can get them to boot up, but play store is not present. I can access play store via themes, and it comes up as a web page rather than an app. (is this norm for CM12?)
once I sign in to play store, I try to install titanium backup to restore all my apps. it says it is installed, I press it anyway, and it says it will be installed soon, which never happens. CM12 and CM12.1 seem to be running fine, but I can't restore any of my old phone. I can recover to a CM11, but it is a little unstable, so I would like to upgrade the system and be flashing nightlies again. what do you think?
and after watching a few videos on you tube, I figured out that I was missing the Gapps file, and the supers file. enjoying lollipop success.
thanks coal!

I was going to suggest GAPPS, but I wasn't sure if you needed it for CM. Glad you figured it out!
