[Q] Proximity sensor with Viber Call - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hi,
Screen doesn't turn off while calling via Viber
Do you think that viber have a bad proximity sensor support?
I installed a Phone Tester from market and it always text "Far" even i put my finger on sensor.
But with normal calling it turn screen off and i think there's no hardware issiue.

Kernel issue with default lg kernel, Rudjgaard fixed it, iodak implemented it in his kernel, i suggest you install version 9.95

It seems that this issue can vary on a case-by-case basis. We hope that the next release will resolve this for everyone.

I have a problem with microphone - often (higher possibility on longer calls) - my microphone just shuts off and a person on the other side of the line can't hear me all of a sudden in the middle od a call.
Some users claim (also the repair guy for LG) that Viber and Skype can cause this issue.
Also , i found a topic on this issue on XDA forum.
They just repaired my phone - they changed the motherboard, but the mic problem persists, so I uninstalled Viber and now I'm testing the phone.
Is Viber team familiar with such problems, is there any fix for it?

i also encountered this issue, but if i recall correctly, it was only on stock rom. (you can "fix" the issue during the call by switching to speaker then back to normal).
a more permanent solution is to switch to a custom rom. i haven't had such issues on any kitkat rom, and i use viber extensively.

Screen stays on during viber calls

Hey guys,
I have the following problem with my 4x. The screen stays on during Viber calls. It's as if the proximity sensor does not work, but it works just fine during regular calls. The only way to turn the screen off is with the power button. The issue is the same on stock LG rom and several versions of CM. 10.1. Is there a know fix for this issue?
Thanks in advance!

I can't find such an option anywhere in Viber. I am running the latest version (3.1.1).
Same problem here. There is no configuration in the menu for this.

Weird Noise in Maclaw 4.4.2 Cyanogenmod 11

Hi,
I have a s3 mini, and i recently installed Cyanogenmod 11 from Maclaw (Works Awesome) the only thing i'm noting, is that when you update your twitter feed (Swipe from the top to update) Twitter usually makes a sound, but instead is making a weird electric buzz and also when i enable sound when i type on Swiftkey is still making that weird buzz, i removed the EQ app, but still nothing.
Thanks in advance.

and what update from today?
yeah I'm having the issue too. Happens on phone unlock and some other notifications. Doesn't matter how quiet I have the notifications volume.
There has been no update to Maclaw Carbon since 5 January... In fact there has been no update on the official Carbon website since 4 Jan
Oh wait... this is for CyanogenMod not Carbon. Funny, I'm getting the same issue with my Carbon ROM...
Gues Carbon is on CM Sources by Maclaw, so same issues. Don´t think that @thehacka1 is going it to update it in next time...
But for me, everything works fine. No sound issue... Maybe i´m a lucky guy
Maybe it is, I don't know, device especific? I mean, I have the same problem with twitter with both notifications and "refresh" sound, but in my case is random, however. I can refresh now and get the weird buzz, and refresh two hours later hearing nothing but Twitters original sounds. So maybe is something varying from device to device that causes the bug "always" in some releases, and sometimes or never in others.

Did you try with a clean install? Can´t imagine this problem could be device specific

Call disconnect

hi everyone, i had upgraded my 4x HD to jellybean by LG pc suite and it seems very good, after 2 days a big f*** problem appeared, when i call anyone or received a call, at any time ,i can hear the another person and he can't, it may be takes 20 seconds or 2 min then the line cut out. this problem appeared after upgrade the mobile to jellybean. if there any solution for that ?????
Factory reset test sound again and see if there is any improvement.

I had the aame problem, and some other members too. We narrowed it down to voip communication (Skype , viber) causing the issue. I recommend kitkat roms, havent had any issues on kitkat regarding that.
A workaround is to trigger speakerphone, then back to normal, mic should work again for some time
i tried to do factory reset and nothing change :s :s

Microphone only works during calls

Good afternoon,
I have had a Nokia 8 for a few weeks now and have now found that my microphone only works during calls. While I'm on the phone everything works normally but in all other apps nothing happens, e.g. in Whatsapp you only hear a short crack when you hear a voice message and then nothing, although you have said something (see attachment), also other apps that use the microphone like the Google Home App or a guitar vocal app don't work. Of course the permissions are set correctly for all apps but apparently this has no effect (see attachment). I've already written with Nokia Support, but after 14 mails about permissions, emptying caches and doing softresets they couldn't help me. Finally I was told to wait for the next Android update and hope that my problem was fixed there, or I should send my phone back to the dealer. My hope now is that one of you has an idea what could be the cause of the problem.
Thank you for your time!

Hello to everyone there,
I have next problem on my Nokia 8:
When somebody calls me or when I call someone on viber, I turn on speakers and other side can't hear me. Also when I put it on video call the same issue conitnuous to take. Regular GSM calls or viber VoIp calls works great as well as video calls with headphones.
I open ticket to a viber about this problem, and they told me I need to contact my manufacturer.
Yesterday I installed an Android pie from beta labs, but the problem still exists. How do you think the problem is hardware?

Hi ratola,
you can dial *#*#372733#*#* for a hidden FQC test menu, here you can test each mic seperated, i guess in your case it's the second mic in the top-speaker.

Hi Joeigel, unfortunately I have the same issue (and story regarding contacting support). The only way I can make calls via for instance WhatsApp is by using a handfree headset, or setting it to speaker-mode.
Waiting for the Android 9 release, if this isn't fixed with it, I'll send it in for warranty.
I do have another issue with the phone, and that's when I unlock my phone using the fingerprint scanner, 1 out of 4 times or so, the phone enables split screenmode. Do you (or someone else here) have similar experiences. It's quite annoying.
Update: Installed Pie, and no improvement. Issues still persists. Returning the phone today.
Sorry for the late response, my phone is also on it's way back to GB...

Ok, just got an update from the repair-center, they replaced a part and it should work OK now. Curious to see what they did and if it's resolved. Have to wait until it's shipped back. But keep us also posted about your progress
Off-topic: another issue I sometimes experience is when I unlock my phone with fingerprint, it sometimes switches automatically to the split-screen mode. It happens quite often and it's a bit annoying. Did you experience something similar with your Nokia?

Microphone issue here too.
Internal mic on front facing camera is the culprit. I noticed a few weeks back that my 'ok google' hotwords were no longer working. This became a problem after I installed the december security patch. I rolled back to the november security patch and this did temporarily fix the issue, after I had gone through the initial setup of the phone, my 'ok google' hotwords worked, until i went to use the camera to see if the issue still existed... unfortunately it does. Contemplating rolling back to july to see if the issue is resolved, or trying to move forward and installing pie.

I've tried going up or down, I have oreo and pie on each of my A/B partitions and it does nothing. When i downgraded to oreo it worked for awhile but updating the google app or some sort of background service broke it again. Its definately mic 3 that has a fault, it has background interference noise when i do the test, it also occurs when recording video with the front facing mic on camera, the problem with the mic never goes away, after up/downgrading, I can't say whether this is related since it works prior to updating. rolling back/disabling doesn't solve the problem for the apps. Microphone/earpiece holes are clean and undamaged.

After further testing of this issue, the 'OK Google' issue is still present, if I want to ask google assistant 'ok google' the microphone barely picks up anything or even my question, practically screaming into the microphone is the only way to activate it, this matches with the results on my google activity, listening to my recordings of my queries shows evidence that the microphone sensitivity is way too low.
HOWEVER, when using google assistant by means of pressing the microphone and then asking the question, the result is clear and understandable and doesn't suffer from volume issues, I can't pinpoint if this is an issue with the Nokia specifically, it is not a problem with any other application that uses the microphone.
Having the same issue with Mic 3. It means I can't use it in speakerphone mode during calls or in Skype. It doesn't prevent me from using the Google assistant though.
My smartphone was sent in and repaired (complete motorboard replaced). During the time it was gone Android 9 came out, so I'm not sure if it was the repair or the software update.
But it works again without any problems
Kind regards
Joeigel

Question [CLOSED] Echo for callers Xiaomi Mi 11

Hi, when people call me by phone, WhatsApp or elsewhere hear its own voice very clear like they talking to themselves. Very clear echoing. Even I lower my speaker they continue to hear themselves. Like the sound from speaker goes straight to the microphone. When I use a Bluetooth headset everything fine. May the problem be with my Xiaomi's noise cancellation. Or the update to MIUI 13 may cause it, because it started recently after it. Any advices? Xiaomi MI 11

I am big Xiaomi fan, also have Mi 11i, Poco F3 at the moment don't have any problems with them. Last 5 years I use only Xiaomi phones first time met a problem
Whilst waiting echo problem solving, I met a new problem. my Xiaomi MI 11's WiFi stopped working. Not switching on and no device identification for Wireless network.
What a joke. Exactly 1 year warranty past. After buying nearly 10 Xiaom devices(me and family) first time I left very disappointed and will try to avoid them in future.

I've had this happen to me as well, and it's also out of the one-year warranty. However, this situation is very common in China, so you can apply for a six-month extended warranty service and replace the machine for free. It's a motherboard design problem, caused by empty CPU soldering.
Thank you for the useful information yiyinglaohu! This answer made me happy because at least I got real answer I already said goodbye to the phone.

What about the echo problem? I am actually struggling with that
Did everything on the forums related with google assistant, full reset and other things. Didn't resolve it.
When works with headphones or Bluetooth headset no echo but when speaking with the phone speaker very clear echo for the callers. I assume echo problem is hardware related as well, the noise cancelling mic doesn't work. Couldn't resolve it either and in 1 month the WiFi disappeared maybe they are related.

My reply is up, sorry I am losing orientation in this app
Same i did everything said in the forums but still the same issue, when i lower the volume to almost the minimum the other person doesnt hear the echo. Using blutooth also there is no echo.
I'll flash a custom rom and see if it solves it, if it doesn't the it's definietly a hardware issue.
