9.2.A.0.295 kernel source has been released. - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

New graphics driver...Will we get a better working CM or Omni?I haven't learned how to port stock kernel source for CM

Someone can do it? I hope this is a fix with GPS and battery drain.

I never have had Problems with GPS in OmniRom. I am back to stock since the 4.3 release (not rooted, locked BL).
With this rom I activated stamina, but the phone has a bad battary. Stock rom is more stable than OmniRom, but I also have had one random reboot with stock 4.3.
And this was short after a cold start, because sometimes I power off the phone over night.
I hope for a better stability with the next stock rom and a better battery. Maybe the new stock 9.2.A.1.199 kernel source will bring better results to CM and OmniRom.

wow really hope it can fix the blue screens in cm/omni!
I'm getting frustrated because of the reboots! :crying:

For anyone wanting a direct link to the Sony page:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/dow...es/open-source-archive-for-build-9-2-a-0-295/
And yes, hopefully these new sources will put a stop to the blue screen issue on CM/AOSP based ROMs, want to jump back on the AOSP train, but the stability issues are not letting me do so. :silly:

SGS+ I9001 Question

Hi everyone in this forum,
Just a quick question, a friend of mine owns a SGS+ I9001 and he's running stock rom, I wanted to install a custom rom for him, (I know I'm not supposed to ask these kind of questions) which rom do you recommend me, it needs to be as stable, fast and battery friendly as possible, I hope you could help me, thank you very much before hand!
Have a nice one!

All CM9 based roms are stable. Also the CM10 based roms are stable but they might have some bugs.

I'm using Ivendor's CM10 alpha 6 now. It works very well. But you should read in the SGS+ section what rom is the best for yourself. For myself Ivendor's CM10 is the best because I have now JB working on my phone like on a nexus device.
I agree that ivendor's Kernel are one of the most snappier ever so far.
Thank you guys, thank you very much, just another question, is ivendors CM10 stable enough for a person that knows very little about android to use as a daily driver? Thanks again!

NO, it's not perfectly stable, because it's an ALPHA release, however most of us use it as a daily ROM. One or two random reboots in one month, some minor freezes - I think it's worth it, the performance is outstanding, especially with some 3.x.x. kernels. Anyway, wait for RC version, if you want stock rom - like stability.
You could also try one of the CM9 releases. They've been around longer and are probably more stable than the CM10 ones.
I'm using arco's release (can be found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650615) which has only very few quirks left. The only ones I run into sometimes are a problem with the compass (something strange is going on with the magnetic field sensor) and GMail / Facebook occasionally display only a white screen (which can be fixed by killing and restarting the app) (which can be mapped onto long-pressing the back button).
There's also ivendor's release, which has some other fixes but hasn't been updated for quite some time. There's also a number of remixes, an AOSP release by broodplank, AOKP, and MIUI.
Basicly, there's a list here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901212
The JB's are bound to have some bugs, don't flash them if you don't plan on updating as well. ICS is probably rather stable and most GB releases are probably stable as well.
Fastest: probably AOSP (so brood's release) and JB (project butter and all)
Most battery-friendly: GB
Stable: anything but JB

Lets talk about CM10 and ICS - with POLL

Hi peeps!
So... moving away and not spam the other dev and general threads, I just wanted to open a new one where we can discuss about the differences between CM10 on old bootloader (cause the other roms are soooo 2011 ) and the new STOCK ICS great tuned roms on NEW BOOTLOADER
I was using DM v30b ICS for a long time and I was pretty satisfied! But after I saw the call bug fix on the official CM10, I didn't even think about it and replaced it
Not that the DMs version isnt fine, but I was remembering that the CM10 version on old bootloader was pretty awesome!
Im using the CM10 official and the only thing I would say against it is the battery life Everything else is awesome!
P.S. This thread is not for DEVs, cause I dont want to offend anyone with posts like "This ROM is much better than this".
Every dev here is FUK*n AWESOME and the jobs they do are amazing... Be honest... before our devs started to tune the phones, we would all be on some freakin apple ****s! (sorry for my language!).
Keep up that good job and ignore our post and threads, its just sharing opinions between consumers
PUT yOUR OPINIONS IN HERE RIGHT NOW !
That's right, Official CM10 is Awesome since LG release their source code. But I will be honest, I tried the first Stock ICS v30a and I was not happy with it because of the speed...even if we have 2 cores. Then I return to cm10...but since we have official source code, the devs start making custom kernel which are really AWESOME, seriously. So, I'm now on cm10 (old bt) with Pidocchio kernel (old bt) for about 5-6 weeks...and it rocks. :good:

CM10 for new bootloader by pengus77
Flashed it yeastarday and the battery life is amazing.
I think cm 10 is pretty awesome, the only thing holding it back for me using it is the battery drain
And LG's official ICS was ***t if u need something thats stable ( i know it doesn't really belong here ) i think u need to back to GB like temasek's builds, but that's my meaning
pengus77 is doing a very nice job. and like marsgod took his fix to gerrit to be reviewed by cm team and they included into official repository, i think pengus77 job should too. in that way, no need to continue with the new bootloader cause is a waste of space and a mess for everybody to move there with nvflash. id we can continue using our gb bootloader and partition layout, that one we used during about 1 year, why not continue if it is working alright? my vote for cm10 official with those all changes commited into cm repository.
I'm using original locked and unrooted 30B in Italy even it is made for ESA region.
I think that this rom is near to be a definitive stable rom: very smooth and fast, no problems except for a battery drain still high (20 hours autonomy with 40% wifi); the camera could be better, too.
I'm very happy of it and I'm waiting for the same LG release for EU.
I never used overclocking or custom kernels even if I tested most of the custom roms available here on XDA. I must say that I never found a real advantage nor stability testing these roms, maybe now the time for them is near to be over.

I am still on Temasek's CM7 as I needed long battery and rock solid/stable operation... Waiting for our CM10 team to fix the battery drain (old boot loader) and I'll take the dive
I have a question about the call bug: when does it usually show up?
I have never experienced it, but at the same time none of my calls are ever longer than 5 minutes.
I'm still on a really early version of CM10, and I've never run into the call bug.
Only problem really is the WiFi drain. Has that been fixed? I haven't been keeping up with the latest nightlies.

The call bug was said to be caused by a race condition - meaning it creeps up unexpectedly depending on the activity done with the phone in that timeframe.
As for wifi drain, flash the kernel tonyp compiled (containing pengus77's fix), onto any CM10 nightly that came out after the V30a sources dropped (basically December onwards).
You really should get a nightly from December onwards - a lot of things, not just the call bug, were fixed or improved along the way. I'm on 01/03 and having an improved experience over the SU660-based sources.
CM10 by arcee is very stable for me with self-compiled kernel of 24mb ramhack and patches from wkpark(including the lg twin boot logo fix). Very smooth and no BSODs and call bug. Just waiting for cm10.1 to be released by arcee.

Just to clarify, I flash the ROM first and then flash the kernel afterwards? Do I need to re-flash the kernel every time I flash a new nightly?

Yes and yes (since a new nightly will overwrite whatever kernel you have).

And just one last question:
So the callbug is fixed on the newest nightlies, but the WiFi fix has not been submitted/merged yet? So if I want the WiFi fix I still have to flash the kernel tonyp compiled, which I'm assuming is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36032539&postcount=661 ?
just like that bro

Hey, well we can get some pre-alpha 4.4 AOSP builds maybe, but these will definitely have bugs, i do believe adam has built a 4.4. omni rom but i don't know much about bugs/boot status etc.
We are still waiting for cyanogenmod to merge sources, however they have stated that they are in no rush to start dishing out 4.4 roms as they have only just sunken their teeth into 4.3 Roms, we will get them eventually, however any builds within the next few days will have little customization or lots of bugs, patience is all we have till then
I hope this answered your question, also, this needs to be in the Q&A section next time bro
Good evening.

Please understand that all the great things you've been hearing about android 4.4 wont apply to us for quite some time, what i mean by this is all the efficiency/ performance improvements will be somewhat mitigated buy bugs and firmware incompatibilities, these things take time for devs to work through, 4.3 still isnt mature enough on this device to call it stable.
I just don't want people to get overly excited by a 4.4 port, its improvements will come gradually.

4.4 sure is on its way for our device, BUT:
Google is removing more and more support for our device, as it already is pretty old. So we need to re-add everything.
Even if it's booting, we still need a lot of work in order to get the most important stuff working (like SurfaceFinger, Audio, and ofc also data/RIL)
So regarding 4.4, all I can say is: Have patience

Yes they are functionally stable to a user, but to call a rom stable (at least by Cyanogenmods standards) requires more than that.

Doesn't use dirty patch code to fix issues in source, usually done to get a release out quicker, between release candidates to stable this code is refined.

Sometimes it's still necessary to do. This is the case with our EGL libs for example. The best would be getting an update from LG, but this is very unlikely to happen. I got 4.3 BSP partially working, updated all graphics-related libs to 4.3 from grouper, but it broke a few things. Porting the full BSP might not be even possible.
Regarding Omni 4.4, I gradually found probably all needed patches for it, will see when I get to computer.

[ROM][Q] Pac man Rom is dead?

Hi there!
I'm new to the community of XDA and i've been wondering around to see what happens in the custom ROM world!
And boy, i was not disappointed!
Thanks to the Rom database 2.0, I discovered the Pac man ROM for mint, it has great features on the paper and it's an All in One rom ( CM, Paranoid, AOKP).
But here is the thing, have some of you tried it? (it seems quite good)
And is it still in developement? on there website there is some nightlies for the newest version
http://pacman.basketbuild.com/index.php?dir=main/mint/
The mint is in priority 3 : (don't know what it means)
http://www.pac-rom.com/#Dashboard
So do you guys have you ever tried it? Is it worth it?
Thanks!

not sure if it is working or not as havent tried it in awhile but when it 1st switched up to 4.3 basket builds i tried it battery wasnt very good back then but its based on CM so i would imagine that it has been sorted ...... its a great rom full of hundreds of great features i may well go back to it in a month or 2 after sony release 4.3 official as that will remove any remaining bugs like screen flicker and occasional random blue screen reboots
Nope they are working on kitkat source.
You can compile it yourself if you know how
But don't share it, original dev says if you share it they'll report you
Anyway, they're working on it
ok thx for the info
I'm a beginner in all that area, so for now I will not try to compile it, but wait till it's out
Anyway that's good news, if they are working on it
Anybody have any other info?

[Q] Blue screens and random reboot after flashing a ROM

Hello everybody
I have a Sony Xperia T, and when I got tired of the stock ROM (JB 4.1.2), updated with PC Companion to 4.3, and everything started to go wrong. While daily use, the screen sometimes turned blue and afterwards the phone rebooted. This happened approximately once a week.
Less frequently, the phone shut down and I couldn't turn it on tipically by holding power button for few seconds. Otherwise, I had to press volume up + power keys until first vibration (I read this simulates battery removal) in order to start my phone.
I thought it might be due to the new ROM, so I flashed CM 10.2, but I had the same problem. Recently, I tried with PACMAN ROM (my current firmware), but it could not solve the problem neither.
Few weeks ago I read that this bug might be a kernel issue, but I'm not quite sure. Do you have any idea about what happens? Flashing a new kernel would end the problem? In that case, which one do you recommend? My phone is rooted, bootloader unlocked and CWM v 6.04.
Thanks you all for your time :fingers-crossed:
P.D.: I attach a screenshot with kernel, build, android version...
i dont know why someone would try out pac rom, a rom without a good forum thread support. a rom which seems dead for our phone?
about cyanogenmod, i not use it...so i just can guess: maybe they still not use the new sony 4.3 kernel source...that could be a reason for bluescreens (same pac rom)?
so you have this options:
omnirom official nightlies by tilal6991
omnirom homebuilds by scanno
latest paranoid android by tilal6991
plain AOSP by Rimmer1966
these use new kernel source, no bluescreens, good user experience, daily driver material.
try out and become happy...
you can find them in xperia T forum, just look around
edit:
why you have android version 4.2.2? is that a bug? build date 1.aug 2013?
we have already awesome kitkat (android 4.4.2) roms (list above)^^

First of all, thank you for your quick reply, I'll take it account
The reason why I tried with CM10.2 and Pacman ROM is that they are not nightlies. I don't totally rely on nightiles because of the many bugs ther're reported. Anyway, I'll try with some of the ROMs above.
Finally, I would like to know if I coud stay with my current ROM and solve my problem only by flashing a new kernel.
Thank you again ^^
you dont rely on nightlies? wrong decision regarding omnirom, all on my above list is daily driver material (even the nightlies)
easy Kernelchange and keep this outdated pac rom with 4.2.2? NO!
its that simple. there is no reason to use such an outdated custom rom, no reason!
Ok, I refused to change kernel, and flashed the third one of the list: "latest paranoid android by tilal6991" (I liked a review about it). However, the problem persists :crying: And that's a pity, because I love how the new ROM looks like
Take a look to the new screenshot of "About phone". The kernel version seems to be different to the one of the last cap. Any idea?
Thanks in advance!
