They are damaged, I guess water came into your phone. A friend of mine had the same problem with her S4 Active. Check if the indicators at the flaps are red. If not: give it to a repair center

Hi all,
I noticed that my proximity sensor isn't functioning. In fact when I call the screen remains active even if I put my hand over the sensor. I used CM10 so I reflashed stock GB ROM and it still does the same. If I use the *#0588# test I always get "Proximity: 1" value. It seems like my proximity sensor isn't working but my light sensor does. What could be the problem here?
I also tried cleaning the screen, lifting the protective plastic but no way, it still doesn't work. Also I dismounted the Galaxy S, tried to blow some air with a compressor, tried to clean the inner surface but no luck...
same thing here
proximity sensor not working, thinking about buying a new one
does anyone got any idea what to do???? :crying:
proximity sensor finder say "available!" but nothing...

I've buyed a new one but nothing changes, do you have my same problem? Proximity sensor stuck at 5.0 cm?
My cousin is having troubles with his Xperia Z. Specifically the proximity sensor. It is always turned on, meaning each time he's on a call the screen turns black and never comes back.
First I tried getting into service menu, only to find the proximity test "ON" all the time. I think the light sensor and proximity sensor are the same, right? The light sensor shows a read when exposed to different light conditions.
Then I factory reset the phone. No luck.
Then I flashed with flashtool. No luck. Still the same.
It is on the latest firmware revision.
Fixed it. I applied pressure with my fingers on the top right corner and got it to work.
I applied pressure to my own device and now it detects the proximity from farther away.
i have weird problem .My Xperia z power button works when it is connected to a charger or when the screen is on,If I lock it the phone it does not work so i connect my charger for the buton to work.the phone does not have any water damage.
Please Help!!!!

I would send it to SONY. That is the best what you can do if you have warranty.
Try this
Disable the Stamina mode. By now it should work as normal. If it does then try the below to see if you can rectify the problem.
1. Go to phone app and key in *#*#7378423#*#* to get to service menu.
2. You should see a menu called service tests, open that and find proximity test.
3. Open it and if it shows you as ON, then you have a proximity issue.
4. Try to tap on the area where the proximity located gently and see if you can get it back on track. If it doesn't, your only choice is to go back to Sony service centre.
Good luck.
The problem was with custom rom i have installed.I have flashed the stock ftf with flashtool and now it is working .My proximity test was ok but my proximity sensor was causing problem while calling which is fixed by gently tapping the area where the proximity sensor is located.

It is not a hardware problem.
You can try to factory reset.
If it is still not working, then there is a system bug that acknowledged by Sony.
You can try to update your phone. Or wait for next new software to solve this problem.
I have had trouble with my z3 compact after using it under water. Initially the phone's touch screen stopped working after a few minutes of taking it out of the water and after repairing it with PC Companion it started working only for an hour and then it stopped responding again. I did the same again and now it is working fine. After running diagnostics I found out that some sensors including gps, accelerometer and gyroscope do not work. I can see something like a red square in the inside next to the sim card port and i do not remember if that was red before the phone went under water( it was not the first time). The flaps were closed properly and i doubt water went in since there were no signs of any. The only problem was that the touch screen was unresponsive, and has happened before briefly so I did not take it seriously but now I am worried if the sensors can be fixed under warranty if the indicator is indeed red and water has gotten in the phone.

That red square should be white, so unfortunately your phone is water damaged
Fortunately for you, if you are positive the flaps were closed you can get it repaired under warranty (If you want to make sure do a pressure test in the service menu)
I got a Sony Xperia z3c d5833. Yesterday I installed an app named pocket lock. The main feature of this app is to lock the screen when you cover the proximity and light sensor. Now the problem is just when I Uninstalled this app, the proximity sensor permanently switched ON automatically. And I can't view my screen during calls. I replaced the proximity sensor kit and also re-installed the firmware and went into stock mm6.0.1 from kit kat 4.4.4. Also installed the lollipop 5.1.1
But invain and the problem is still there. My proximity sensor kit which I replaced with another Xperia z3c is working fine in that phone.
I need help....
There is a problem with the display glass on the Z3C separating from the sensor, with an always ON sensor the result. Google and you'll find it.
You can test it in the service menu. It will show as ON, and go OFF if you lightly press on the top left corner of the display.
So you might have a hardware problem. Sometimes just glue the display corner down works.
There are also a few fixes that disable the sensor. You really do not need it. It is a battery saving feature.

All was going fine and fantastic until I installed this fckn app pocket lock ? there's no need to change the proximity sensor kit now because I already have changed it and the most interesting thing is that the faulty proximity sensor kit doing fine in another Xperia z3c. To assure myself that new kit should work fine in my phone I flashed it thrice with three different ROMS but nothing worked. Now I'm wondering how a software can damaged a phones motherboard. It means there's only two things left for me to change, Bootloader and motherboard. D5833's bootloader isn't allowed to be unlocked so therfore I can't upgrade the bootloader, now the only thing left is motherboard of my phone. .
