Hey, I recently bought a used HTC One, I am new to android and I read something about hboots. Everyone says that hboot 1.55 is supported and is most likely the lastest, but what should I do if my hboot is 1.57... The HTC One is clearly purchased from 3, was also locked to it. newest software and everything. Tried fireburn and htcdev.com methods, none of them worked. with htcdev.com method, I come as far as I am supposed to choose yes or no in my phone, but the problem is that nothing comes up, it stays at power+vol down mode. Can anyone help? I want to flash a custom rom and a kernel, also root. Don't judge me as a bad tech, I am into tech, but that hboot is kinda confusing as my only android device was samsung galaxy mini and now I came to HTC One, it's kinda difficult to get to know.
Never heard of 1.57... But you can try to downgrade to 1.44 but that would mean you'd have to flash a 4.2.2 stock ROM or any 4.2.2 rom. Then run revone
Happy Flashing Sent from a proud owner of the HTC One.
Can you post a screen shot of your bootloader screen and adb output of fastboot getvar all?

4.20.771.17 has hboot 1.57, but firewater/rumrunner doesn't work, not because of hboot version, it seems (for the moment at least), it doesn't work with H3G and T-Mo Germany devices.

Given that he is S-ON I wouldn't have thought he would be able to flash anything lower than his current 4.4.2
I have the same problem here. Got a replacement One from o2 and it is on 1.57 with 4.4.2. I hear this update has now been pulled so we may be rare cases. I'm wondering if I should htcdev unlock it, root it and then try firewater for S-OFF. My only concern is that it will not work and I will be left UNLOCKED/RELOCKED/TAMPERED and will have no warranty. Considering I just got a warranty replace I feel I need it.

Here's a thought, in order to avoid unlocking your phone: use firewater method 2 (ie with temproot exploit)... it will very likely not work, but it's better than unlocking your phone only to find out firewater won't work. (not that i'm saying it won't work... it may or may not work)

I tried method 2 first. The temproot exploit doors not work on 4.4.2
stuck on 1.57 from o2 repair center, cant s-off and got tampered
You should get unlocked by unlocking the bootloader again with a new unlock.bin from htcdev.com
Hboot 1.57

I can confirm this worked for me too. I have hboot 1.57 and my cid is H3G_001.
It really doesnt matter what hboot or cid you are with firewater. It depends on certain hardware revisions in your phone. If you get something other than the whelp message they you have a chance of getting s off. If you get the whelp message then you're stuck.

Hi, I'm trying to S-OFF my HTC One with 1.56 HBoot using rum runner, the bootloader is unlocked, the rom is Viper One, and it's rooted. It always gets to 8 pours and then says "Wait 30 seconds, power on your device, pray, run rumrunner again." every time.
Any help? Thanks, Jake

RumRunner doesn't work with the firmware version that matches HBOOT 1.56.0000 because HTC patched the exploit used. However, firewater s-off does work with the new firmware versions so you need to use that one :good:

Thanks! S-OFFed now!
After trying for hours to s-off, I have nothing to show for it. My boot loader is unlocked and I'm on 1.56 with viperone. I've tried firewater and rumrunner and neither have given me anything.
Firewater just gives the whelp message for whatever reason and rumrunner just runs through the 8 things and says reboot and run again and it keeps doing the same thing.
What has worked for you guys? The last time I did this I was able to use revone but now I have a new One that I got from at&t warranty.

... FireWater has been known best for 1.56 hboot. You should try some more even if you are already tired of doing that. Never let the device sleep during the process cuz it asks for superuser permissions many times. Even if this doesnt help, download another copy of Firewater and then try again :good: ...
If Firewater says whelp this sucks Firewater won't work blah blah then no amount of changing roms will help. You're stuck

You mean android revolution HD 36 ?
Where can I find it ?
I see only 31.6 and 71 on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023
I was trying to download that 31.6(Seanie maybe misspelled) and I couldn't download it because there were no mirrors :/
Any Luck?

Is that a guaranteed s-off? I wouldn't want to waste 25$
It isn't wasted. It does compatibility checks before it does anything. Most important thing is to have stock kernel for it to work

I changed the CID to 11111111 and flashed a Bell Mobility Nandroid Backup since I intend on using it on Bell... the damned thing doesn't get signal...
Try flashing a newer firmware?
[Guide] HTC ONE Hboot 1.57 Root S-Off Change CID Downgrade Hboot & OS
Search the above phrase on google. The first result should be from the site forums(dot)gsmhosting(com) with the title same as search.
I am a new user so I can't post external links.
I used that guide to achieve S-Off on my HTC One M7 UL with Hboot v. 1.57.
I had to run the final firewater commands several times before firewater launched finally. Enough tries to make me memorize those commands so I stopped copying and pasting them and instead actually typing them. But it worked for me.
I hope it helps.

Have you checked settings to see what network mode is checked? Check each one separately to see which one gives the best results. Auto generally works best! Did you have a GSM or CDMA phone?
Hey guys,
i'm sending my One to htc at the moment and i think i'll get it back in a couple of days with new camera module and a firmware update .
At the moment my HBOOT is 1.4x, the phone was S-OFF via revone and i reversed it back to stock yesterday.
Are there any safe possiblities to S-OFF a 1.57 HBOOT device WITHOUT using htcdev?
From what i've read recently
- Revone isn't supported with HBOOT 1.57
- Firewater can maybe S-OFF but needs HTCDEV unlock and maybe the Bootloader is TAMPERED after that
- Sunshine costs 25 USD !?
So is the conclusion correct that an unlock via htcdev is absolutely necessary to S-OFF atm?
Is it also correct that i can't get rid of the TAMPERED flag when Firewater fails?
Thanks
Once S-Off you can revert the BL back to locked and remove the tampered flag anyway.
That's right but from what i heard some devices can't be S-OFFed with Firewater. Then the device is TAMPERED and you can't get rid of that because S-OFF doesn't work!?

you cant get rid of the tampered flag full stop without s-off
sunshine does not require the bootloader to be unlocked, it does everything for you but like you said costs $25 however, it is a one off payment, after that you don't need to pay again to s-off the same device again.
all other s-off tools require the bootloader to be unlocked via HTC Dev.
if you are on HBOOT 1.56 or 1.57 and firewater fails then sunshine is the only way.

Sorry for the question but can i install TWRP and flash ROMs via Recovery when just htcdev unlocked and S-ON? On the One X it was necessary to flash the boot.img from a pc. On the One this isn't necessary right?

yes you can flash custom rom's whilst s-on as long as the bootloader is unlocked and also correct, no need to flash the boot.img separately.
Does someone know what devices will fail with firewater? Is it a change in the hardware maybe? My One is from May 2013 so i hope it may work.
There has to be a change between the devices with 1.57 that fail and the devices that work!?

if you sent your phone back to HTC to get the camera repaired, they will probably replace the motherboard, if they do then firewater probably wont work, all you can do is try.
Okay, i'll wait and report
Dunno if it's different but when I s-offed and unlocked and rooted my HTC one max I used firewater and used temp root method which in turn s-offed and unlocked bootloader which can be done on our highest hboot. I don't no if it's different for you guys but it might not be such a major problem but when I sent my HTC one m7 back for repair when I had it I reverted back to stock and left s-off present they said nothing about it.

Depending on your hboot version. If your on hboot 1.57 Sunshine is the only way. As @alray said firewater has been discontinued. It's online resource no longer exists so it won't work.
If your on hboot 1.56 or below you should try rumrunner other than that your out of options :good:
