That's not from Trickster. It shows options available in the kernel you have installed. Your kernel supports color control, that's why you see it. If you install a kernel that doesn't support color, the options won't be there.

Yah I'm aware of that @RoyJ im saying no other kernel OFFERS the control And this kernel does.

What kernel? You blacked it out. You also mentioned "through trickster now" which makes it sound like an update from the apps end, so I'm sure you understand the confusion...

Clearly says Linaro Kernel.

I don't know how many kernel developers use the Linaro toolchain to build their kernels.
Guess there's only one then. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Edit: I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure where it says Linaro is showing the toolchain the kernel was compiled with. The name of the kernel is blacked out. For example in my trickster with my kernel, the name of the kernel is where his is blacked out and where his says Linaro mine says Crosstool.

Linaro GCC 4.7 is the toolchain used to build the kernel silly, not the kernel name. And color control is available on many kernels, not just one.

Thanks Simms, you get it lol.

Ah. Okay. I saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527130 sometime back and didn't knew twas a toolchain myself. I'm using franco kernel myself so ofc i know color control is available in many kernels.

Franco does Gamma control. Not Gamma+RGB Control like this one.

So what exactly is this thread for then, Drag? A teaser for a super secret kernel you don't want to tell anyone about, besides showing it off? I'm not really getting this.
Why black out the name of the kernel, then avoid my question asking what it is? Just feel like keeping it to yourself? :thumbdown:Honestly I don't understand this thread. Help me understand...:what:

just lol, thats all.

So it is a teaser thread. Gotchya. Well looks pretty cool, looking forward to it I suppose. I'd like the ability to change my colors myself.
Is it your kernel? Are you the developer? Just curious. The thought of a new kernel gets me all warm and tingly inside.

elaborate seriously I have just gotten into this stuff couple of months back and I'm really interested in learning about this.

So this is still a mystery. Color control will be very useful to me.

Why are people so damn snooty on these tech forums? We're all nerds here, or at least attempting to be, yet every thread where I'm actually looking for help, it turns into a pocket protector contest. Being humble is attractive. Just some advice from someone who knows nothing. ?

[Unofficial][Gigglebread] O2X CM7 - Back *****es... (19072011-1925)

COPIED FROM FITSNUGLY'S UNOFFICIAL N1 NIGHTLY THREAD
ADVANCED USERS ONLY
SERIOUSLY. This is an unofficial CM7 build with cherry picks (from CM's Gerrit) of unfinished mods and/or broken code that is continually changing. New users should STAY AWAY FROM HERE. There is NO SUPPORT for this build, by myself or anyone else, so don't expect it. Do not file bug reports on the CM issue tracker from these builds. Do not report the SAME PROBLEMS AS THE REGULAR NIGHTLY'S because there's no magic here to fix them. Don't PM me with silly questions, because they probably won't be answered.
Please visit the Official CM7 Nightly Thread if you are just getting your feet wet. Frankly I don't care if my builds or any of my suggestions work for you or not, I do this to educate myself better and share with a few friends.
Have a question or an issue? Try this before asking something silly:

I understand there is no support provided, and I will brick my phone by flashing this! - Bacon wrapped bacon, deep fried in bacon fat! p990 Folder
All credit goes to cyanogen & #teamdouche, Thanks to fits for showing me the ropes with compiling and cherry-picking
Don't ask what's new, read!
Some recent device related CM7 commits since last build can be found here:
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p990
Items from CM's Gerrit I have manually cherry-picked:
Nothing first build in ages so it's clean
If I stop using certain cherry picked commits all of a sudden, it's either: because they were merged, abandoned, or the mod is based on older code than what is in CM currently and merge fails.
Please visit @cmsrc, CM's Gerrit or Nightly Device Changelog for a complete list of commits.
MORFIC'S EXT4 TRINITY TEST KERNEL

Bug reports welcome on kernel EXT4 so either wipe and restore when flashing new nightlies or reflash kernel.
No complaining if things go wrong it's barely even beta...
yeah... that's some candy... Pretty cool that you provide us with kangs
Ok, loving this kang - gps fixed loads of other fixes went in so it's all looking good
nice builds
The quadrant scores are getting better on the CM builds now getting 3500 on vorkKernel at 1,4Ghz not that quadrant matters to me because CM7 is a lot better than the laggy LG crap

Is there any way to recreate the "Render Effect" Feature from CM7

Anyone who used CM7 might recall a feature buried in the settings (under display if I recall correctly) called Render Effect. It allowed you to alter the temperature of screen color as well as flat-out kill all colors but one. This allowed you to make the display go completely blue, or completely green or completely red.
Apart from being a nifty party trick, this was a feature I used routinely. Changing the display to red allowed me to use my navigation while driving at night and still preserve my natural night vision. It also was a nice thing to have enabled when the phone went off in the middle of the night.
So, does anyone know of an app/mod out there that allows us to achieve this? I really don't know why this feature was never permanently merged into the CM base, it appears to have disappeared in CM9 I think.
I have stumbled across some apps developed by ChainFire that appear to do this but unfortunately the app description specifically says it is for FroYo or Gingerbread devices only... see here

IMO you can change screen colors with Franco kernel. It might be worth taking a look at.

Twilight is what you are looking for: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.lux
Yes, there is also lux, but twilight ist free
I'm also interested in this feature, and I've tried the "filter" apps including twilight and it is not the same at all.
Is this something that can only be done at a low level or can it happen in an app?

Velolipopperz Rom

Has anyone heard about this? It's supposed to be a secret ROM that google mad genius created with L stuff added and spread. I heard it's also invite only like OPO but you have to have at least 3000 thanks as many post. Can someone confirm? It also scores 48500 in Antutu on art at 2.3GHz. Please, if anyone can confirm?

popperzboy 4 life
I have heard of this, and know some people who say they have used it. i can't get them to give me any info about it because they have a verbal non-disclosure agreement with the developer. All I can say for sure is, the name says it all.
I think it might have something to do with this web site:
http://973-eht-namuh-973.com/
Good luck!
I've heard of it, and seen a few screenshots.
Sounds like an awesome rom
I can't say too much but this rom is amazing. Its built with Linaro and Sabermod. From what i know the developer goes by the name Mcdickbuttcore and he is very innovative. Its very secretive how he builds and distributes it. He takes the build and puts it on a flash drive. From there he puts it into a garbage can on a undisclosed street and one of his "testers" picks it up and distributes it to a small group of people. Its rumored he has the source code for lollipop already and is building with it. Hopefully i dont get killed for telling you this.
rumors
Leave Velolipopperz alone!!!, I build it for me and my sons. I have access to Lollipop source code because my brother lives in the ventilation system at Google headquarters and uses their fax machine to send photocopies of everything. It's MY code, all MINE. My brother says so and he's older than me and has a unibrow so don't mess with me.

Then the guy who picks up the garbage is actually a secret developer himself who is double crossing the lead developer. He makes modifications to rom zip and then manually adds certain scripts which decreases the performance .

Overall UI sounds have weakened as well.. Tried Viper4Android... It just isn't what it used to be on kitkat.
No issues with mic or in call volume though.. Or may be I haven't noticed it.
Are you using that ElementalX app? There's a volume gain mod baked in it as well but it's a hit or miss Kinda thing. At least on Lollipop.. So, I didn't bother reporting it.
We've seriously been so spoilt by custom roms and kernels that we just can't digest stock.. Lol. [emoji23]

[POLL] Most used kernels

Hi,
I'm creating this post to see which kernel is most used and why.
Vote which kernel you use and write in the comments why you choose that kernel (more battery/more performance, dt2w, etc...).
Currently I'm using hellscore. It gives me more battery than Franco... What about other people?
Do you need to have 'Stock' in your list of options?

I am using the newest Resurrection with the integrated Kernel. The Rom is nice, but I think it is time to change the Kernel.
Few days ago I was on cm 12 with Hells Kernel and an SOT round about 3-4 hours.

I think this poll is kind of biased. Since it was posted in the "General" section, we can assume that the most popular Kernel from this section is going to be winning (Hells-Core). If this poll was posted in the "Android Development" section, most likely "Quanta" would win. Same for "Original Android Development" section, most likely "Franco".

This thread is not a development, so it is in the correct section.
And you could be wrong. Hellsdoctor, nash are also great kernel in "Android Development". In "Original Android Development" there are also AK, Semaphore, Unleashed, Matr1x, etc...
Semaphore, because dev's patches made it into mainline Linux kernel, I don't know of any other 'kernel devs' who made it so far. He also wrote the 'new dt2w'
I wish there was a repository of kernels, like a Wikipedia. Where the kernel developer might have a biography, their work listed, whether they've been published, and by whom, their work in the community, and finally, a breakdown of what makes their kernel special. Right now, it is impossible to objectively know which kernel works best for your usage pattern without trying out every single one for a full charge cycle. That is ridiculous.

This? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46998137&postcount=2
But you can't know that is the best kernel for you without testing. Every person uses the phone differently. You can't expect to have the same performance/battery as others.
I've created this thread so that people can post which kernel they use and why, so if and when we want to try others kernel, we have a little info about the usage.
No, that's not really what I had in mind. What you linked to is simply a list of links to every kernel available. One could do the same by going to the Android Development section and going through the links on that page.
What I was attempting to describe above, is a standardized repository. A standardized system for descriptions, changes, and comparisons to other kernels in the form of screenshot based evidence across any number of benchmarks. All this information exists in some way, somewhere deep in these countless threads, and this is the number one complaint that non XDA frequenters have: everything is so massively disorganized that unless you are on the forums every single day, should something important crop up in one of the threads, you may very well miss it completely, only finding out about it later in the form of heresy in another thread, and then having to task yourself with digging through the threads looking for a needle in a haystack in an attempt to either disprove or prove what you heard someone somewhere say.
The fact is, a forum is a great platform to foster the development of these kernels, but it is a terrible platform for the organization and presentation. What I'm describing above requires something outside of the XDA framework, it's not as simple as creating a new thread.
Faux123 is the best kernel imho!
Using Semaphore since a lot of time, great kernel.
Quanta V3.... awesome
